Been coming here for years. Always a great menu, very friendly staff and a great place to meet to watch sports. We used to have a large group of Alabama fans that met here and we would take over the entire bar area... So much fun!!
Man oh Man..a complete surprise. Bacon wrapped meatloaf! Grit cakes?!?! (never heard of), but good. AWESOME Sweet potatoe souffle!! HAM HOCK Greens- perfect! Cookie brownie for dessert...have to try it for yourself!
Reasonable price and good quality. Staff was welcoming to puppies and babies. Idk about kittens, we didn't want to push our luck.
I absolutely loved this place. The drinks were top notch. Went with a few friends and we all had a blast. Stayed till the place closed. Will return and recommend anyone who likes to have a few drinks and relax in a great atmosphere.
Southern nacho and ying yang shrimp by themselves are worth going here, amazing. Service in the bar area was fast, waitress was pleasant, it wasn't busy/crowded at all. I can't wait to go back for Sunday brunch.
Love it. Brunch here on Sundays is the best bang for your buck you can get. Hours for brunch are 12-3pm. 12 dollar bottomless mimosas and a good selection for food.
This place gets 5 stars for the location, atmosphere, and because after so many years it’s still doing a great job. The bars are great, inside and out. Their food is good considering that it’s more of a bar than a restaurant. I’ve been going there for years, usually at night, but the past 3-4 years mostly during the day. Great drinks, great service and wonderful atmosphere to hang out or watch games. I hope they keep doing a good job for years to come.
I am a big fan of Blackfinn. They are not perfect, but they are great! There are a variety of events you can attend, and they have a laid back, yet still nice, ambience. The bar is really popular, so it can be a fun place to go for drinks. It can get pretty crowded on weekend nights, and the music is way too loud after midnight. The staff is always nice, and the food is really good! They serve local craft beers, as well as the full bar. Prices are reasonable. This place serves a variety of purposes, from work parties, drinks with friends, lunch, brunch on the weekends, or dinner!
I've eaten here several times and every time it was a great experience. All the food was delicious. They cook the new York strip to perfection (just how it's ordered) and their goal cheese grit cake is amazing!! Finn fries are a great appetizer and the buttermilk sauce and BBQ that comes with it is super good and I don't even like BBQ sauce. Also tried their chicken parmesan, haddock dish and couple other dishes that were also very good!
Great spot and even better staff! Was down to see the TPC from Fort Erie, Canada and had a great few nights. Beer was cold and the food was great! As I mentioned the staff and the many great patrons I met were so friendly, the place just had a great atmosphere. Can't wait to get back there. All my best to the staff and all the lovely ladies I met there!
Feb/2018 I came back the 2nd time tonight with a group of girlfriends for our ladies night out and we had a blast. Although our waiter wasn't very attentive and forgot to offer us water, we still managed to have a wonderful time. I love their Wednesday wine night, we got to sample 2 red, 2 white and 2 sparkling champagne tonight, they all tasted pretty good. The Happy hour appetizers were delicious, the shrimp tacos were lacking a bit of flavors though. I really enjoyed the sliders and queso/chips. We can't wait for the next wine event. *****Oct/2017 I came here last month with my girlfriends when they hosted the Hallowine event. I pre-ordered the ticket first for 6 samples of wine. When I came, we were each given an empty glass and a ticket to get our wine samples. I was expecting a couple drop of sample each time but instead I got half a glass every time they fill my glass🍸 😍 which was a very pleasant surprise. The white wine was better than the red since it was as bitter. We order 8 different Appetizers (during Happy hour) and everything tasted quite delicious. I couldn't remember much since we were all tipsy half way through our evening. There was live music 🎶 as well which definitely enhanced our dining/wining experience. We sat at a table outside in the patio but our server was pretty attentive and helpful. We can't wait for the next Wine event!!!
Ordered the Chicken Roma and the Fish and Chips. Fantastic job on the fish & chips. The Chicken Roma was disappointing. The lemon was so overwhelming that it was more like sucking on a raw lemon than anything else. The chicken was described as parmesan crusted; I don't quite know how to describe what was presented. One piece had a nicely cooked crust - on ONE side. The other side and both sides of the other chicken was beyond pale, it looks like they didnt bother to properly cook it or maybe they just microwaved it - because the chicken was fully cooked but the coating/topping was raw. They were kind enough to take it off our tab and the waiter, Kyle, was very nice. The manager did this "drive-by" visit and never even asked what was wrong with the meal or properly apologize for the experience. It was not extremely busy, so I don't even see a reason for the improperly cooked meal nor the absentee manager. I still rated it a 4-star because I feel that this is not a representation of a typical experience.
Atmosphere is great, a little loud in the bar. Great special running Wednesday night 1/2 price wine night. Service was ok but sat at bar and was full so kind ok expected. I ate the iron skillet mac and cheese with blackened chicken. Portion was ok, could have been slightly bigger. Would definitely come back.
I enjoyed the Fried green tomato sandwich. Best fried green tomato I’ve had. The fries are crispy and delicious. The chipotle queso with chips was tasty, lighter tasting than normal queso and the green onions made it interesting. We sat outside because it was a cooler evening and a huge storm rolled in. They have shields that roll down and kept us dry even though the wind was fierce. The down side: the chairs and table outside were uncomfortable and our service was lacking in the attention and speed it could’ve been on a night with three tables seated outside.
Nice and comfy. The service was pretty good, though the mixed drink was a little :light" on the drink part. Still, it has a very nice staff and great outside patio bar. I'll be coming back for sure, when I am in town.
Food was good. Loved the variety of the menu. No wait on New Years Day. Which was great. Wait staff polite and knowledgeable. Portions did not match price (on some items, fish and chips).
Went for drinks and some apps - the nachos were absolutely delicious! (and pretty big) Drinks were a great price (at happy hour), the only minus would be the service... was a bit slow. We received menus then waited and waited for someone to come get our order, but ended up going to the bar to fetch someone and then waited again for them to send someone over.
Overall, good experience. The food was good but not great. For the name it is, it's a straight forward American restaurant with a sizable bar scene. I ordered a steak and it was not much to write home about. Was cooked to order, sides were small. Prices averaged $10-$15 per plate for lunch menu (was here for a lunch), and the portions looked reasonable (had 8 in my party). Service was timely. I would come here again, but it's not my first choice to go mainly because of the options in the area.
Nice place to sit outside and have drink and a bite . Service was very good, our server was there all the time when we needed her. Our flat bread appetizer was tasty, bread was crispy, and the veggies were cooked well. Our drinks were all satisfying. There was a music in the background, loud enough to enjoy the tunes and at the same time have good conversation with your peers. I found chairs at the bar outside very comfortable. Few TVs above the bar available to loose yourself from occasional boring topics in within your group, offering sports and funny videos. Restroom was clean and very well maintained. Parking was packed, there was an option to park near by.
Great food and great cocktails! We attended a party in the back room and the food was excellent. I would recommend trying the soft pretzel appetizer....it was exceptionally good. It comes out hot and with dipping sauces. Some standout cocktails to try were the sangria and the sex in the city martini. I would recommend making a reservation because it was absolutely packed. Also, the massive parking lot for the shopping center was completely full at dinner time. They do have a valet service.
My wife and I went there for our anniversary. We decided to go try something new after cancelling our annual pilgrimage to Ruth Chris. The menu looked outstanding online so we chose BlackFinn. The restaurant wasn't hard to find so that was a plus. Parking lot seemed crowed for a Monday night but we walked in and were seated immediately. Bar was full but we were able to get lost in each other and mind everyone's business at the same time. Now on the what you've all been waiting for...The Food. Appetizer...French Onion Soup...awesomeness but tell them to bring some oyster crackers. Side salads was really fresh and tasty. I got the shrimp and grits and my wife got the bacon wrapped meatloaf. My plate was fantastic her plate was so so. Meatloaf taste more like sausage loaf and the macaroni and cheese seem to come straight from the box. Also her greens could've had more flavor. We got dessert like gluttons but that made the night...A hot coco cup. It had vanilla ice cream, brownie with peanut butter sauce with cream cheese icing and when I say "to die for" I mean to die for cause we were both moaning and groaning on the way home. Service was attentive, drinks were good. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
Food was tasty. Large menu. Decent atmosphere. Service wasn’t the best. We waited a while for our server to come check on us. We had a server and a trainee. The trainee seemed to try to be on top of it but it was still a wait. White crab sangria and raspberry mimosas were good.
I mostly go there with my wife for just drinks and fries. The french fries are really tasty and they come with a few dipping sauces. The outdoor bar is a nice place to sit. It is a sports bar, so it will probably be busy during any of the big games. The drinks are moderate as far as alcohol content.
The first time I went to Blackfinn was late night and we had some burgers and beer! It was pretty packed and loud so when my friend was throwing her baby shower here I was surprised. She did a Sunday brunch baby shower and it was lovely! We sat on the patio and had plenty of space to sit and even an area to open presents. The brunch menu had really yummy options and other parts of the menu were being offered as well so there was plenty of food options to choose from. They also had bottomless mimosas which is always a hit in my book. The baby shower turned out beautiful and I've been turned onto a new brunch spot!
We had a catered event for work here. It was set up buffet style. The prime rib wasn’t very prime, very rubbery. The chicken was very good and I really like the salad, which had finely chopped fresh tomatoes. The desert was very good, which was home made ice cream. Overall it was ok, but would never go if it wasn’t a work event.
I’ve had better.... presentation 5... taste Meh...
Reserved for a party of 30 a month in advance...seated 20 ppl at 3 different tables and others sat at the bar. Servers were nice and tried to see if there was any way to accommodate our large group even offered to have the manager come speak with us...didn't happen. This was supposed to be a life celebration with ppl coming from miles around. Very disappointed that everyone was spread out and not able to fellowship with the guest of honor...Servers were great in spite of...Food was good (a little salty)...drinks were watered down...May try again under different circumstances and hope for a better experience.
Went with my family to eat and waited almost 20 minutes to be seated. When seated a lady didn't look at us and asked what would we like to drink and I said well let me get my drink and a starter. She said drink first an I said why. So she went to another person at my table and I said excuse me I'm not done and she said go on and was so nasty. So I ordered and everyone ordered and she took our order and didn't come back for 23 minutes. With our drinks. I didn't realiZE it was that long until my table stopped talking and was hungry. I looked for my waiter and was no where to be found. Come to find out she clocked out and left for the day. So we left. Never again. And what was so funny a new waiter came to us and she said hi what can I get for yall today. I told her give us a minute and we left to the cheesecake factory.
Waited forever to get a server to our table then food took forever and came out cold. Haddock had too much batter and was oily. It was ok. I may try it again but they definitely didn't make a great first impression
We had a group brunch. Food was good but waiter made multiple errors including getting my order wrong and charging me for drinks I didnt have. Not that impressed.
Went for happy hour. Was very very happy to see grey goose on happy hour and ordered a martini at an up charge. Pure water. I mean it didn't even taste of anything except the olive juice from the olives they garnished it with. My date ordered a vodka cranberry. Same thing. We drank beer the rest of the night. Service was pretty good. Wings were ok too.
We attempted to dine at BlackFinn today 06/10/12. We were seated promptly but then...we waited a bit for our waitress to come to the table. She never looked at us when she introduced herself took our drink order, didn't ask if we would like an appetizer and left before we could let her know we did want one. She then moved to a 10 top table and took their order for drinks. We waited another 5 minutes and she still had not returned with our drinks so we decided to leave and dine elsewhere. What is pathetic is that the hostess that just seated us, thanked us for dining with them. We have dined at BlackFinn on multiple occasions with great service but this was terrible. It will be a long while before we try them again. Very inconsistent in their service. Hit or Miss,
After being seated without a wait, we promptly received our drinks. After that first 3 minutes, the experience went downhill. After waiting for nearly 20 minutes for our waitress to return and take our food order, I took it upon myself to place an order for food at the bar as our waitress was M.I.A. The food was delivered in a reasonable time, but was average as best. Our order specifications (no cheese due to a dairy allergy) were also ignored. Our original waitress passed our table multiple times with no acknowledgement or apology regarding her negligence. All in all, this experience was a definitive letdown and I do not plan on returning to Blackfinn.
Great place to open a restaurant. Food was very good, service has much to be desired. Dinning room empty, bar maybe half full and 7 staff and had to wait 20 plus minutes for hummus app which is a cold app. One job to do people get with it.
Reserved for 15 people for a birthday, and was seated at a table barely big enough to fit 8. The staff ended up rolling a round table from the back and placing the rest of our guest seperate from us. Then we had to move the tables ourselves so that the rest of our guest were not seperate. Food was subpar and overseasoned. Only checked on us a couple of times and many of us waiting for refills. Pretty much a mediocre experience, not worth repeating.
Very disappointing... went once when they first opened and it was great. This time was a disaster and we had a party of 13. Cold food, guy forgot to take our whole party's order, forgot to bring people their drinks, someone said their food was cold and wanted it warmed up and the guy takes it and boxes it up! Probably won't be back. Shame because first trip was great.
Let's discuss. My boyfriend and I came for brunch and seeing as it was a nice day we requested to sit outside. The hostess said it would be a 25 min wait. Within the 25 mins we saw several groups walk to the patio and get seated. When we finally said something 4p mins had passed only for us to be seated at a dirty table and the patio that was empty at the 1150 am was PACKED at 1230. I'm so annoyed. I would def think that telling all the minorities to sit inside while filling the patio with white people is a little obvious. I definitely refuse to come back here because this is unacceptable.
I have never had a good experience here. The food (when you get it) is ok, nothing amazing at all. It's the service that sucks and has for the last three years of me trying to give this place a change. I have waited to be serviced for over 20 minutes, on a night that was not busy at all. We ended up walking out and reporting it to management, who in turn did nothing but offer an apology. On the slim chance you do get service within 20 minutes of sitting there, it takes another 20 before you can even get a glass of water. If you wants atmosphere, this place gives it to you, if you want good service, this place does not. The only reason I am being generous enough to give them 2 stars, is because the bar staff. Anytime I have ordered a drink from the bar, the bartenders have always been nice and delivered good service. If you have to pick places to go in the Saint John's Town Center, there are places that are far better.
SHRIMP AND GRITS ARE WONDERFUL and that's the only reason I return. My last visit I ordered happy hour drinks and was over charged for substitutions I made to the drinks without the server notifying me of up-charges (even though we discuss whether my drink qualified for the happy hour pricing). The manager was sarcastic when discussing another issue🙄. The previous 3 times I ordered to go via telephone and had a bad experience all 3 times once arriving to get the food (not finding my order, my order being incorrect and having to re- wait while the staff seemed unapologetic... actually seemed rather annoyed... no comp of any kind for inconvenience that I experienced). I only return for the meal I live and regret returning each time.
I chose this spot to have a brunch for my birthday with family and friends. The service was overall UNsatisfactory. Most of the items on the menu between food and beverages were all out of stock. We ordered bottomless mimosas horribly made! It took and 2hours to have the food delivered in which was then cold. The service Whitney showed poor customer service in hosting a large crowd.
Went tonight for dinner. The chicken breast was dry, the green beans were either overcooked or undercooked. I ate my wife's potatoes and they were soggy. I will never go back to this restaurant again. I noticed that management does not respond to any of the reviews, which tells me they do not give a damn about the food they serve. I do not recommend this restaurant.
Very disappointed!!!We when thee today for my daughter 21st Birthday and brought our own cake so they seated us on time after we order or drinks and food which was flat bread and salads so nothing complicated it pass 30 min nobody came to serve us so the manager Donnie Whitten came to ask how is everything and we told him so 10 min later the food was served, then we ask for the cake and after 30 more minutes wait nobody brought the cake that was already bought from us, so my husband ask again and 20 more minutes we just told them to give us the check and the cake and we were leaving!! Can you imagine we had to wait 15 more minutes for that as well and no % off or apology!!!?? I wouldn't go there or recommend it to anyone 👎
If it were possible I would give a zero star rating for this establishment. I received the worst service I have ever had in my life. Reservations were made in advance for a Saturday night for a friend's birthday with a group of 16 guests. Upon making the reservations I was never informed that our large party would have to be split into two tables. These reservations were specifically made after being told at another restaurant they could not sit a large party together at one table. When we were brought to our table we were greeted by our server who informed us that it would be okay to bring two tables together instead of sitting at separate tables. After bringing the two tables together we were immediately scolded by one of the two horrendous managers that were on duty that night. Donnie, the first manager we had the displeasure of meeting, spoke to us in a condescending manner that we could "absolutely not" put these tables together and that the tables had to go "EXACTLY" where they were before we moved them and not an inch or two closer. When we told him we were confused by what he was saying because a party roughly the same size as ours had done the same thing but had never been chastised in the same manner. Donnie's response was that he had not noticed and proceeded to walk away. This same group was never belittled in the same manner as we were and Donnie had no problem looking the other way for that group. We eventually got up and walked out but not without speaking to the other manager James. One of the members in our group spoke with James about the situation and the manner in which Donnie spoke with us but was met with the same disdain and very poor attitude. James informed him that he did not need our business. Myself as well as the 15 other members of our party will never bring our business to any Blackfinn location after this horrendous service!
The first time I went here the bar service was awful. Our bartender would take an order from my buddy who was sitting right next to me, and as I tried to add on my drink to the order she would completely ignore me (If we could get the lady over to serve us). Not sure what her deal was. I've been here a couple times beyond the first visit, and each time it's never that great of a time. The food is bland, then entire place usually filled with a bunch of dudes or it is dead, pretentious crowd, and the prices are inflated. If I end up here it's usually because a few of my friends forced me to come.
I was so excited to go have brunch but boy was it a let down. Food was cold and bland and the bottomless mimosas were just bottomless orange juice. Don’t get French toast or the crab cake eggs Benedict it was horrible.
We did not enjoy the food here. The tuna poke was over saturated with soy sauce. The Balboa was grocery store sliced roast beef and it smelled as bad as it tasted. We were unimpressed to say the least.
Last night I arrived here for my sisters birthday, first time experience, we were excited to dance and get a nice drink. No idea what our bartenders name was but she was absolutely HORRIBLE! Completely rude and disrespectful. First, we ordered a Long Island iced tea, a strong drink yes but if made properly doesn’t taste like straight tequila with coke, which is basically all this was. When we simply said we didn’t like it and asked for something different we were met with attitude about how it is what we ordered and a strong drink. Whatever. Got a mojito, okay but still nothing fantastic. Asked for a DIRTY martini, met with a snide comment about how next time we need to order a martini WITH OLIVE JUICE, which is exactly what dirty means. So to say the least I definitely will not be going back, she completely ruined my idea of Blackfinn, I highly recommend either retraining in proper bar terminology and simply how to speak with guest. The one star will simply go to the great music and fun atmosphere.
I've ordered food from here from Doorstep so many times. Almost every single time, something is missing from our order. How do the cooks forget to put chicken in the roasted chicken and avocado salad, and not put any dressings for any of the salads? Best part was, when I spoke to the manager, he blamed Doorstep's delivery driver! He said it was the driver's responsibility! I'm sorry, but the driver isn't in the kitchen, the cook's are. The server/bartender that puts the order through doesn't ever read the special notes either. They also put unripe avocado in the salad. On top of that, Doorstep put my order through again, and miraculously, Blackfinn "didn't receive the order." I have worked in bars/restaurants for 20 years, and I have never witnessed this much incompetence. Definitely NEVER giving them my business ever again. You make a guest happy, they might tell 5 people to go to an establishment; you upset a guest, and they'll tell 30+ people about their bad experience and tell them not to give you business.
Never got around to trying the food, because our party (a 15 top) was treated terribly by the management for requesting the tables to be moved closed together (they put a round and a rectangular table in the same vicinity, not close enough to talk). Even looking at the terribly kept menus was reminiscent of Apple-Bee's-- they were rippled, peeling, just so not echoing the "fancy" atmosphere this place is trying to have. Anyway, they lost a lot of money last night when all 15 of us walked out because of how rudely we were treated after requesting about the tables. We were met with an "absolutely not" and given a fake excuse about the kitchen not being able to keep up with the orders of one table(?). So disappointed, but judging by the other 1 star reviews it doesn't seem we were the only ones with problems here. Not worth the money. We went to Bazille and were treated amazingly.
Went for a group party from work. Given two tickets for two drinks.... can't get sangria but I can get a hard liquor . Mixer... beer... or wine.... but no sangria and bar tender was rude about it... the food was nothing I'd give any stars for and they couldn't keep up with the demand... as soon as brought out it was gone... anyone ever had deep fried deviled eggs? Yuck..i stripped off the coating and just ate the egg but again nothing to race about. Overall not impressed with food, drinks or service.
