We sat at the bar at San Carlo and ended up having one of those unexpectedly perfect evenings. Theo and Arturo had us laughing from the start, gave spot-on food and drink recommendations, and somehow made everything feel effortless and fun. You could tell they genuinely cared about creating a great experience, and that kind of energy is contagious. They truly made the night feel a little magical — we left smiling and already talking about when we’ll be back.

We walked in on Christmas Eve and we’ve been accommodated at the bar, what a lovely place to be! Enjoyed so much the drink reccomendationd from Theo and Arturo. The nutcracker espresso martini sent me to heaven and I can’t thank this two guys enough for the excellent customer service. We had some food on the counter too and was mouth licking ! Thanks again Arturo and Theo you made our Christmas Eve special 🫶 I ll be back very soon. Valentina 💗

Last night marked my third visit to San Carlo Restaurant, and once again, it was a fantastic experience. The dishes were absolutely delicious, and the freshness of the ingredients truly stood out. It’s consistently a delightful dining destination.

It is a such cosy restaurant just at the corner of Regent street. The food was great especially the signature lobster spaghetti! And must mention this: all of the staff are super welcoming from the moment entering the restaurant, which made the experience even greater!

Firstly I cannot understand any of the negative reviews about this superb restaurant. We went for a late lunch on a very busy day in London and there was nothing we could fault. The service was excellent, some of the best table service we have experienced in London. Staff were smartly presented in suits or uniforms, they were all very charming and were efficient when ordering, delivering our food and clearing away plates once each course was finished (yet we certainly did not feel rushed and had two relaxing hours to enjoy our meal). The range of choices on the main menu is very varied and prices reasonable for a high-end establishment. For drinks we ordered sparkling water and Pinot Grigio Rose from Veneto by the glass, accompanied by some Italian breads with olive and sun dried tomato tapenade. All our food arrived in just the right amount of time and were cooked to perfection. Starters were excellent, - we had Avocado Bernardo and Noci, Pere & Prosciutto. We both ordered Spaghetti Carbonara (the best I've eaten in a restaurant anywhere). We accompanied our main course with a mixed leaf salad and a tomato, red onion, oregano and olive oil salad. For dessert, we had just enough room for one shared peach and frangipane tart with vanilla ice cream which was very tasty indeed. We finished our meal with Americano coffees. Our meal was a first class dining experience, - I'm already planning what I'm going to eat on our next visit !

Fun Italian version of tapas in an upscale, albeit cramped, environment. Everything was super fresh, especially the pasta dishes. Pizza was mediocre, surprisingly tasteless. Staff was friendly and efficient. Tiramisu hit the spot.

We went here for a Sunday lunch on an afternoon we expected no seats but entered as a drop in and they were able to accommodate us. The service was smooth and the waiters available for food and drinks order promptly. We had enough room despite being a small party of guests. The food was delicious and there were plenty of options available for dessert too.

Irina was very helpful whilst making my reservation and accommodating my requests. Food was delicious, cheese board was amazing, burrata was sublime, the saffron linguini was to die for! So stuffed we couldn't get dessert, which was a shame. Service was great and the ambience was lovely.

Their service and food was great. I am not sure about some of the reviews that said otherwise. Bread was hot out of oven. Mozeralla with anchovy sauce had bit too much bread, but not bad. Pasta and the veal meat was good. I went there Sunday afternoon was not very busy.

First I must declare that I don’t usually like restaurants in West End as they serve tourists (not repeated customers) most of the time so their standards usually are under par, or you get some pretentious service or meaningless decor to compensate the food or over-priced menu and the new riches are foolish enough to pay. They usually lack class and sense. Harsh but true! Now that assumption I had is fully disclosed and how I am pleasantly surprised by my experience in San Carlo. First the service is excellent, very old fashioned and non pretentious service. Staff are well dressed and with substance unlike some hipsters you get these days. The captain knows how to serve and is keen to give his customers the enjoyable experience they deserve. He also made a couple of excellent suggestions based on our likes and dislikes. The food is good too. I would recommend the Spaghetti Lobster. Most places fail this dish because either the lobster is too creamy or the spaghetti is too soggy. Here, the spaghetti is real al dente. I don’t like desserts but had Mille-feuille (I know it is French….) and the pistachio cake. They are so nice and a real highlight to end the evening. The restaurant downstairs in the basement is quieter, would recommend that if you wish a more comfortable and relaxing experience. Alternative if you like people watching, then go for the ground floor and there is also a bar people pop in and out to try their cocktails. Food 9/10, service 9/10, ambience 8/10, value for money 9/10. Highly recommend and will definitely return! And a real gem in London West End!

Daniele was really helpful choosing the right bottle of wine and the bar staff super friendly while I waited for my late friend. The ambience was excellent - some fun, Italian music playing in the background the staff were singing along to. The dishes were 👌🏾

This is one of my favourite go to Italians in central London - they have several restaurants across the city - always incredibly friendly and helpful staff but this time extra helpful by accommodating us with our newborn baby and placing us on a buggy friendly table. We didn’t have a reservation and got a walk in table at lunchtime. The thing I love about these restaurants is the variety of food and wine (great wine by the glass selection) and how it’s a consistent high quality and standard no matter which location you go to. We were also helpfully told where the baby changing facility was when we sat down which was super helpful. The cost per person is on the more expensive side compared to some other Italian restaurants BUT it’s worth it IMHO for guaranteed flavour and freshness of the food on offer. The portion sizes are always good as well, we could have easily split just one starter and one main and been very satisfied. We ordered the Bruschetta e pomodoro and tartare di Tonno to start and the fettuccini alfredo and saltimbocca alla romana with the zucchine fritte and insalata mista. Stand out dishes were the bruschetta and fettuccini and I always ALWAYS order the zucchine fritte and am NEVER disappointed. My husband didn’t enjoy the saltimbocca but only because he found the sage to be a bit overpowering - everything else was fab!

We had dinner at November 2023. Meditteranian food is one of my favorites and I've eaten in many restaurants in Italy and out Italy. I can honestly say that San Carlo is one of the best Italian restaurant out of Italy. The food is excellent, staff is friendly and the restaurant looks valuable, not like a pizza place.

We visited while walking in the area and the restaurant caught our eye as it seemed nice and cozy. The decoration inside was very nice and it was very pleasant. There is some additional space at below ground level but it is not so pleasant there. Moreover some more tables that are available outside are nice if the weather is good and you can tolerate with the street noise. The service was excellent and the food was very good. In terms of pricing I cannot say if it was normal as London is an expensive city. For sure It is expensive compared to other parts of Europe.

Beautiful food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Thank you to our waiter Giovanni who was simply wonderful. He was attentive, friendly and even helped me with my Italian speaking! As I was celebrating a birthday, I got a surprise desert which was so lovely.

Fantastic restaurant and service and they made a fuss of my daughter for her birthday bringing out a desert on the house and all singing Happy Birthday. We shared mussels to start which were delicious and then we both had the crab pasta which was unbelievable. We will definitely return and want to thank all the staff for their kind hospitality.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at San Carlo! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was exceptional. The food was outstanding — every dish was beautifully presented and full of authentic Italian flavour. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into everything. San Carlo never disappoints, and thanks to Giovanni’s impeccable service, this visit was truly memorable. Highly recommend to anyone looking for top-class Italian dining!

My wife and I had a truly fantastic experience when we popped into San Carlo on Regent Street for a quick bite. The restaurant looked amazing , a high-energy feeling that avoided being stuffy. We knew we were in the right place the moment we saw a beautiful Brunello on the wine list, confirming their commitment to quality—though we skipped the bottle for our quick visit. We started with two dishes: the Beef Carpaccio was melt-in-mouth tender, and the Burrata with Tomatoes was creamy and fresh. Right as I ordered the appetizers, we saw the Beef Cheeks on the menu. We figured, why not? We ordered them and those Beef Cheeks brought me right back to Florence, Italy—they were star of the meal. We only have one word to describe the dish -SPECTACULAR! The restaurant operates at a high-end level, the quality of the food and the excellent service from the hostess to waitstaff along with the manager made our entire experience fantastic.

We had our Xmas lunch here last week, such a great venue, ask to be seated downstairs and its like a private room! Our host Giuseppe Valenti was amazing in keeping all 20 of us happy, well fed and not thirsty! Highly recommend

My girlfriend and I went out for dinner on Valentine’s Day, and we had such a wonderful experience. A big part of that was thanks to our waiter, Giovanni. Giovanni was extremely professional, kind, and attentive throughout the entire evening. He was always available for our requests, made sure everything was perfect, and truly made us feel comfortable and welcomed. His friendly attitude and attention to detail really made our night special. We genuinely felt taken care of, and his excellent service made our Valentine’s dinner even more memorable. Thank you, Giovanni, for your outstanding professionalism and for helping create such a beautiful evening for us!

Walked in on Christmas night while hanging out with friends and had a really nice experience. Friendly and polite service, tasty food, and a cozy, warm atmosphere. Great spot along Regent Street, perfect for dinner after shopping around Oxford Street. Ideal for meeting friends and chatting. Will definitely come again.

Very conveniently located; off Piccadilly Circus. We dropped in after the London Landmarks Half Marathon, as a party of 3 and were kindly accommodated. The service was a little odd, with random drop ins to share obscure jokes which made me uncomfortable. Besides that, the food was good, albeit a little slow to arrive.

Nice Italian restaurant. Good food and well prepared Good cocktails We had lunch and dinner at the same restaurant. We asked for a candle to surprise my daughter for her birthday but they forgot. Little details that doesn’t change the fact that the food was good.

Reserving a table for lunch is very easy. The food is good, and the atmosphere feels authentically Italian. While the service could use a bit more attention, the place overall is enjoyable. However, if you’re looking for a romantic or intimate experience, this might not be the best choice, as the ambiance is lively, with groups often engaged in loud conversations.

Nice restaurant with good food and great staff. The deco is very pleasant and has a lovely ambience. My choice of astice avocado was well prepared and presented. The ossobuco as a main was unfortunately a bit chewy, but when mentioned to the waiter was immediately removed and i was offered the choice of having it done again or order something else, perhaps the saltimboca, which i did and it was very well cooked. The seven layers dessert was delicious. The staff were superb but it felt that although they were trying their very best they were a bit overstretched. Having said that, i cannot fault them: they were professional with a friendly and helpful touch. All in all, the place is nice, with a good vibe, the food is good, bur for me what did it was the staff: they were absolutely fantastic from the moment i stepped in and i will certainly be back.

A restaurant specializing in Italian cuisine, offering a wide variety of pizza and pasta. It’s located right in front of Harrods, in the heart of London. Popular among tourists who want to enjoy authentic Italian food. Service outside the restaurant can be a bit slow, but inside it’s good. I recommend trying the food.

This restaurant is always a lovely choice – with a warm atmosphere, tasty food, and nicely presented dishes. Whether it’s a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner, it consistently offers a pleasant experience. Definitely a spot I enjoy coming back to.

A nice Italian Dining Experience This Italian restaurant offers a charming and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed evening out. The seating is comfortable, and the overall ambiance is cozy. While the food was generally good, it didn't quite reach the heights of some other Italian restaurants I've tried. The Bruschetta Pomod was not bad, with a nice balance of flavors. The Parmigiana Al Fono was also enjoyable, featuring tender aubergine melted cheese. The Ravioli Tartufo was particularly delicious, with a rich truffle flavor. That being said, I've had better Italian food elsewhere. The branch in Covent Garden, for example, is a bit more impressive in terms of flavor and overall culinary experience.

I

Excellent quality food and loved the tapas style servings. Would’ve given the food, drinks and desserts 6 stars if it was an option. Service was good and very fast. However, it is a great shame to see the seating arrangement was very crowded and almost felt like sitting on the same table to the ones next to ours - therefore not quite relaxing as how it should’ve been. It is also impossible not to touch others when going past others tables when leaving.

Very disappointing visit, we love the restaurant in Bristol expected the London restaurant to be just as good. We ordered 3 of the same dishes, although tasted nice, they all came out different sizes one of which was tiny, I was still hungry after, this was disappointing as the dish was £20 and had the smallest amount of pasta or beef. My friend ordered a pasta she had before, came out bland, brown very tasteless usually a spicy tomato sauce to go with the pasta, with anchovies, capers ect. We also ordered the side of peas and bacon, these where definitely tinned peas, again brown and slushy with no taste. However the server was very polite and friendly. The outside area was nice.

A

I had a decent time here. However not sure who the server was, he was very rude to me. He had a bald head and was in charge of our party on Sept 3 2025 by 7pm. He packed my plate before I finished WITHOUT asking me if I was done. When I mentioned, he refused to apologize and just shrugged his head. It took my host telling him again for him to come apologize. The pasta wasn’t well done and the lighting was poor. Lovely decor though.

J
James Gruijters

My colleagues and I were disappointed with our visit to San Carlo. Two of us ordered the arrabbiata, which was the tiniest portion of pasta that I’ve ever seen. It wouldn’t even have been a sufficient portion as a starter! On top of that, the bruschetta was disappointing. Just some toast with tomatoes thrown on top. The food really lacked love! You expect an Italian restaurant to be full of flavour. For the price you get charged, the food really has to be of a better standard. The service was fine, our waiter was friendly.

Really slow service. The waiters are really busy we waited for 30 minutes for checkout. Also waited a long time for the dessert menus and the dessert to come.

A
A Dale

I was a bit underwhelmed by this restaurant. The food was a bit bland, the lobster sauce tasted like it was from a packet or bottle as did the truffle chips. The martini was left too long so more ice water than vodka. Food was virtually chucked on the table and the fastest thing to arrive was the bill. It took 15 seconds from being asked for. At that price point the food should be better. But the location provides a constant stream of clients, so as a business it will probably be there for years. Like another reviewer says....there are many other better places nearby.

Just been Sunday evening 8 45 pm , starters were ok ,carpaccio di manzo not so tasty but I can understand, they clear the starters 20 second later the manager came with main courses Tagliatelle Alfredo extremely overcooked , trying to turn around the pasta with the fork and the pasta was getting broken so easily , we ordered Pipette Piccanti ( pasta dish ) not al dente , the spicy ? completely forgot , asked for chilli oil , both pasta no salt at all ( please do not reply by saying ; we prefere our customers to add the salt and similar done frases like this ) , no-one asking if the food was good while eating or when we finished . Service was slow and wasn't busy ( three tab of 2 and one table of 6 and ) they were more interested on doing the night duty things to close down instead of taking care of the customers, we have been asked if we wanted a second drink at 10pm . Could have been much much better with few details . Molto delusional ad essere onesto mi aspettavo molto di più.

C

Really poor experience and service. We had to pour our own champagne, ask if we could order food and more drinks. However Carmela greeted us when we entered the building and also when we left, she is exceptional and a wonderful host. 10/10 for her but everything else was not London standard and we won’t be returning.

We went for our first Valentine’s Day, we had such a terrible experience, it was so sad because it absolutely ruined our evening, the food was delicious however the service was terrible and I’m not one to usually complain and neither is my boyfriend but it truly saddens us that this has happened. The servers forgot our orders after not writing them down and had to come and ask us again, were sarcastic, rude, brought us 2 mains and looked confused when I said we’d already eaten, didn’t give us salt pepper or a lit candle, we didn’t have our drinks till we’d finished our mains and waited 30 minutes for our orders to even be taken. This is just a small amount of the things that went wrong in the restaurant that evening for us. I have emailed twice and haven’t received a response for 5 days. Ridiculous

I do not recommend this restaurant. We waited over an hour for our food, and when it arrived, it was not served to all four of us at the same time. We also asked for bread with the pasta, but it was brought only after we had finished eating. The waitress behaved in a rude and uncomfortable way, which made the atmosphere unpleasant. At the end, they tried to add a 15% service charge for very poor service, which I refused to pay. The food was good, but due to the long waiting time and bad service, I will never come back.

AVIOID! SERIOUS FOOD POISIONING! My partner and I have both become violently sick and had diarrhoea containing blood. The doctors diagnosed us today and was from the truffle ravioli or the creme brulee. On looking we have seen other reviews from people getting sick from the same foods. I was sick in car on the way home, which was a nightmare and now the car needs cleaning. Worst 4 hour drive of my life. We are in agony today with stomach cramps and have had to take two days off work. We are still waiting for the restaurant to reply to our formal complaint. So dissapointed as ruined our trip to London which was a significant expense for our anniversary which has now been tarnished. Due to the servertiy of the food poisioning I may need to go to A&E in the next 24 hours.
