Opinions de Villa's Tacos Los Angeles
Villas Tacos absolutely lived up to all the hype! It's been cracking extra hard after the amazing Bad Bunny halftime feature, but it's well worth standing in line for. And it has 3 Michelin Gourmand Bib wins, too! The size of the tacos are your standard street-style tacos, so it's not hard to eat 3-4 all by yourself if you come hungry. I got the Queso Taco with Pierna de Pollo (chicken leg meat) and Villa's Trio Sampler with Ranchera Asada, Papa's con Chorizo, and Black Bean con Pollo. Honestly, it's hard to choose which one I like because they're all so good! I didn't even had to add any salsa because each taco was already loaded with flavor. If I have to pick, the Papa's Co Chorizo is my winner though. Everything is well-seasoned, and blandness is non-existent here. And the Agua Fresca Jamaica is delicious. It's just a hint of refreshing sweetness without feeling like you're getting a heavy dose of sugar, and complements all the tacos well. Villas Tacos is the epitome of LA Street Taco scene and it more than deserve all the hype and accolades! I'll definitely come back here and also visit their other locations soon!
Villas is amazing. The staff there are so kind and welcoming and seem like they genuinely love what they do. There’s plenty of space to sit, picnic style tables where everyone is super friendly. I got the villa trio and every taco was to die for. Incredible flavors, tons of fresh ingredients, perfect ratios, and the cheesy crust was unique and delicious. Fairly priced for what you get. I will absolutely be back. Worth the hype!!!!
I don’t usually leave reviews this positive, but this place really deserves it. I went during Super Bowl weekend, and when I saw the huge line, I thought it was going to take forever. It actually turned out to be the opposite. From the moment I walked in, the service really stood out. There was a guy at the entrance greeting people with great energy, always friendly and attentive. You could tell he was paying attention to everything. Once you place your order, the food comes out pretty fast. The salsas were really good, and I loved the pickled onions with hibiscus. The blue tortilla was also a great touch and definitely appreciated. The protein was delicious, and the tacos were beautifully presented too. One thing I really want to highlight is that I accidentally dropped some of my tacos, and the guy at the entrance replaced them right away without hesitation. That kind of detail says a lot about the place and the way they treat their customers. I hope they keep this same quality, because I would definitely come back.
Such a great spot. It lives up to all the hype . Great customer service and the flavors are so good . The tacos were great and so were all the aguas frescas. Definitely want to try more food options and they also have a new location with seafood 🍤. Can’t wait to go back .
Visiting LA from NYC and had to stop at Villas Tacos after seeing them highlighted during the Super Bowl. Expected good tacos, but left with so much more. The owner showed genuine gratitude for the attention he’s been receiving. He personally thanked everyone waiting in line and made everyone feel at home. The hour wait felt more like a block party celebration than anything else. Made some new friends on line and shared an amazing experience. Dessert was fire. Tacos were 10/10. Recommend to all friends!
Best Quesa tacos I’ve ever had - I got asada and barbacoa. The crunchy cheese layer, the big heaping guacamole, and varieties in salsas are all so tasty. 😋 Prices are really reasonable for this quality of food. I drove 1hr+ and would do it again.
10/10 food, atmosphere and service. Worth the 45 minute drive. We recently traveled to CDMX and ate similar tacos at a Michelin Star Restaurant, that’s why these tacos caught our attention! Almost identical. Steven and Stephanie stood out to us because of their hospitality and above and beyond customer service! Definitely recommend
Waited on line for a while but the love, attention, and hospitality made it feel way shorter. The owner was so grateful for everyone's presence and it truly was a special experience. The tacos were incredible but the service and love took it to another level. We will definitely be back.
In town for business and was told I had to eat at this place by a local. Wow! We got there at 11:30 and were 2nd in line for a place that opens at 12pm. The staff and owner were very friendly and personable. The food was excellent! I had Villa's Trio and watermelon Fresca. We ate there but seating is limited to 2 picnic tables outside, which did not stop anyone from coming out for this amazing food. All of it was fresh, authentic and delicious. Highly Recommend!
Wow these tacos are very delicious and ive been pretty much in los angeles anyways if you don't mind the wait, it could take an hour ..or more but it's worth it..if you are out there try it you won't regret it. I didn't. 😀 also 3 years in a row Michelin 2023,2024 and 2025 possibly 2025
I went to try the tacos here after hearing about them from the Super Bowl halftime show and I got the Villa’s trio. It was very delicious and the best tacos I have had here in CA. Victor was there as well and gave out a great speech to all of us in line. He showed us great hospitality and kindness to all of us. All employees had amazing customer service. The line was very long but it’s so quick as soon as you order. I highly recommend this location. Thank you Victor for all your hard work and dedication to opening all the restaurants. I appreciate you. This was the best experience I have ever had at restaurant thank you.
Taco Champions! Had this place on my want to go list finally. Saw them on the best of LA or maybe it was California Live on NBC4... Anyway OMG! In LOVE with these tacos! Best tacos Ive had in a good while, and we live in So Cal which has the best tacos in the country, so that's sayin alot! This place was poppin on a Thursday night! Awesomeusic pumpin outta this bad ass East LA location, which I believe is the OG location. Do yourself a favorite don't wait go! Here at Cannapolitan Magazine we give this place and tacos and the people 5 stars with a joint to finish. Thank you Villa's tacos! Will be BACK! Even people with crazy food allergies can pull off something in the menu! Vegetarian friends too!
**4.7/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟✨ Villa Tacos Highland Park: Barbacoa Royalty in a Neon Glow** Tucked under the **Highland Park** neon sign on Figueroa, **Villa Tacos** is the late-night taco temple the Eastside worships 🌮🌙. The line starts at 6 PM and never lies—by 8, it’s 30 deep, but moves fast thanks to the **mesmerizing plancha choreography** 🔥. Order at the window, grab a Jarritos, and watch the magic. The **barbacoa** ($4.50) is **legit Michoacán scripture**: lamb slow-cooked 12 hours in maguey leaves, shredded molten, crispy edges, juice dripping like liquid gold 🐑💦. Pile it on handmade blue-corn tortillas (nixtamalized in-house), top with onion-cilantro, and choose red or green salsa—both pack habanero heat without killing flavor 🌶️. One bite and you’re transported to a Jalisco fiesta. Other tacos? **Solid supporting cast**. **Carne asada** ($3.75) is diced ribeye, charred just right; **al pastor** ($3.50) spins on the trompo with pineapple tingles 🍍; **pollo** ($3.25) stays juicy under achiote. **Quesataco** ($5) with consommé dip is pure comfort on a cold night 🧀🥣. **Vibes**: picnic tables, string lights, reggaeton thumping, dogs welcome 🐶. Cash or Venmo only—ATM inside. Parking? Street hunt or $5 lot next door 🚗. Only nitpick: **closes at 11 PM**—get there before the barbacoa sells out (happens weekly). Villa isn’t trendy—it’s **institutional**. I’ve driven from the Westside twice this month. Pro tip: order **mulita** ($7) for barbacoa-cheese torture. Highland Park, you win again.
This is my favorite restaurant, full stop! I’ve been coming for Villas Tacos since the backyard days, and the quality is still there every time! I’ve taken dozens for their first time, and it’s an easy recommendation to anyone, and everyone. This staff always makes you feel welcome, while serving up incredible flavors. I’m shocked I hadn’t reviewed this place before, and of you’re reading this, I hope it’s while on your way to Villas. Thanks to the whole Villas team!
If you want incredible tacos whilst in LA, Villa’s is the one. A small corner shop with free parking, very loud music and the best atmosphere. The staff are high energy and it’s very popular with locals. Get the Villa’s Trio. Three queso tacos, rich, cheesy and ridiculously good. Easily the best tacos we have had. It doesn’t look fancy but it really delivers. Outdoor seating’s limited to a picnic bench so most people eat from their car boots or get takeout. It just adds to the vibe. Bookmark this place, it’s seriously worth it.
Excellent authentic tacos. They have a wide variety with many vegetarian options. I had the asada and the cactus tacos. Love the blue corn tortillas. The cactus tacos were really unique. The salsa and guacamole was very fresh. The asada was flavorful. Everything was yummy. It’s a very busy hopping place so make sure you have time to wait. It feels like a party just waiting in line. You can tell that they are a special part of the local community. The line was out the door. The quality of the food is worth the wait though. If you have a friend visiting from out of town bring them there.
The tacos here are just so full of flavor! All the ingredients they use per taco mesh so we'll together. I always get the trio; the chicken with black beans and the chorizo with potato is so good! You really don't even need the salsa but they're there if you want them. The agua frescas are delicious as well and pair deliciously with the tacos. The seating is super limited but many people make it to go and it's possible to get a seat and don't be discouraged by the line, it goes by fairly quick. You're going to want to bookmark this place to share it with your friends and family.
First time here, saw them on YouTube and wanted to check it out. Small place inside as they have the tables outside but only limited seats available, wish they had more tables and chairs. I tried their ranchera meat tacos and one queso taco and it really hit the spot. Had to throw in some hibiscus dip onions on top. Overall very delicious and will come back to try more.
Want good tacos? This is the place. For first timers, I would suggest the trio special and a drink of choice. The people working there are super friendly. The place feels like a party eveytime with good music on max and the workers singing and grooving with the beat. There is a salsa bar for those who want a little extra spice but the tacos are solid just the way they are. There is usually a line but it moves super quick. 10 of 10 would recommend 👌.
This is not a letdown. the tacos are as good as everyone says. The hibiscus onions are a pleasant surprise. The blue corn tortillas are tasty, do not fall apart and complement every filling. The parking is generous but the neighborhood can be a little seedy. Anyone who can should try this restaurant.
The tacos here are absolutely phenomenal! The potato and chicken tacos in particular were my favorites, bursting with flavor and perfectly seasoned. The balance of textures and spices made every bite a delight. The prices were fair, making it an excellent value for the quality of food. On top of that, the staff was incredibly welcoming and patient, ensuring a great dining experience. It is no surprise this place is so popular, as its reputation is well deserved!
Came by Villa’s Taco today around 2:30 pm with a couple of my buddies and it was still packed. There were about 10 people in line ahead of us and from waiting to order to actually getting our food, it took around 30 to 40 minutes. Definitely be ready for a wait. Since it was our first time, Eric in the back suggested we try the Villa’s Taco Trio so we could sample a few things. Solid recommendation. We also grabbed a couple aguas frescas and the Jamaica was hands down the best one. Out of the trio, the ranchero asada was the clear winner. Great flavor and cooked just right. The papas con chorizo came in second. I would probably skip the black bean and pollo next time. If you go, stick with the queso taco style because that’s what really makes Villa’s stand out. The real highlight of the whole meal though was the salsa bar. The Mango Habanero was the best one, sweet with a good kick. Pro tip that nobody really talks about: get the pickled onions from the salsa bar. They are fire. I could honestly eat them by themselves, but they take the tacos to another level. Just know this is more of a grab and go spot. There’s limited outdoor seating and parking is a mess. The lot is small and street parking is tough to find during peak hours. Service was quick once we ordered and the staff were friendly. I’ll definitely come back to try more of the menu once the hype from the Super Bowl Bad Bunny promo dies down. Overall I’d give Villa’s Taco a 9 out of 10. We live in SoCal and there are a lot of taco spots just as good without the long wait, but this place is still worth checking out at least once.
Mixed review here. I ordered the asada queso taco, the mulita with potato filling, and the pepino agua fresca. I really loved the queso taco and the pepino agua fresca. Both were amazing and worth getting. My mulita was so so. Everything but the filling was great. The potato felt under seasoned plus it felt undercooked. Little cubes of potato were a little crunchy to me. I'll have to try it again to see.
Ive been twice now, and I especially enjoy the queso tacos with chorizo. The mulita isn’t anything to write home about - the tortillas are soft, the cheese isn’t warm once you receive them. The beef is well flavored. The tacos are packed with meat and leave me full everytime. I was disappointed with the flan and wouldn’t recommend it. The wait can be a bit long so I’d get there as quickly to opening as you can. Overall, Villa’s Tacos just about met my standards and expectations. The best way to explain it — I’d stop if I was in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.
Overrated taco restaurant in California. I expected this place to be a home run but it was a let down. 1. Chorizo taco had a sour taste and reminded me of beef jerky.5/10 2. Carne asada taco had very fine bits of meat. Little no seasoning. 5/10 3. Queso taco was ok and the best on the menu. 7.5/10 4. Reds also was mild as hell. As a Mexican American, I’m ashamed to call this a salsa. Overall, this place is overhyped.
