This place was perfect for me. I'm from Alaska...enough said...lol. Food was delicious. My waitress was friendly and attentive. Come hungry! Had the Grizz: 2 pancakes, 3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage links, 1/4 ham steak. My only complaint: Because the pancakes were so thick, they were a little doughy in the center. Otherwise, the flavor was good. Fantastic place!

We brought my mother in law for early dinner. The diner was almost empty. I think because it was a 4 day weekend. But we enjoyed the quietness. Our food was served hot and fast. The servers were great. Thank you.

One of the best BB I've been to. The staff was nice and attentive especially when it came to allergies. A lot of condiments is always good. Food was delicious and prepared well. There were a lot of flies in the restaurant and is why it got a 2.

I couldn't eat the biscuits n gravy, though it was good, it was dry & i had no coffee or water. Perhaps extra servers should work those busy morning shifts. We took it all home. Only ate the eggs. Great cup of coffe though. I really wanted another....

I personally didn't like the food too much, the mash potato was great but maybe I ordered all the wrong things apart from that. Our server was amazing however and the place is very thoughtfully designed and built. I'd recommend but for the atmosphere, not so much the food.

Our server was nice and so was the host that sat us. The food was ok, I got a chicken bacon avocado club and it was mostly just bread. We were traveling so it got the job done, if I was local I probably wouldn't frequent this restaurant.

I wanted to update my experience at Black Bear restaurant in Los Banos. We ate there with our granddaughters a while back and the experience was lacking in several respects. We have since eaten there a couple times recently and I did want to note that things have improved. There seems to be plenty of staff there now and the food is adequate for the price point. I do want to note a couple of issues though with our last meal. We have ordered the hot turkey sandwich many times before but this time it was more of a turkey lunch meat instead of the usual thicker slices of roast turkey product they've served in the past. That was a huge disappointment especially for my wife who ordered it which is why we decided to eat there that day instead of a new eatery in town. So there goes one of the menu items we could always count on now gone. The mashed potatoes seemed kind of, gummy, I noticed red potato skins in it which is a less starchy potato more suited for roasting than mashed. Also there was some dark, almost black, pieces of something in it that we couldn't make out. This was brought to the attention of our server and she asked the cooks what it was and they said it must have been some leftover overcooked pieces that accidentally made it onto the plate. Also the lettuce leaf garnish was old and starting to rot and should have not been anywhere near a diner's plate. All in all, I can see some improvements and am hopeful that this trend continues. Great friendly service. Love the manager he always makes things rite if something is not up to par. Good atmosphere. Great staff keep up the good work !!! Waffles 🧇 were junk undercooked. The mash potatoes were sour and nasty 🤢🤮🤮 . Really depends on who is the chef, the young chefs in the afternoon really suck. The guys that work the morning shift are the best, they have been there for years. They never have the prime rib, went on two separate occasions and was told they did not have any. 😭😢 The all you can eat fish and chips sucks. The pieces of fish are small and not tasty. The regular fish and chips is probably better I would hope !!!

Service was average and the Prime Rib was not as I expected it. As we showed up it took sometime to seat us then it took a while to get us our drinks.

Ordered (2) marinated chicken topped with crispy onions, hollandais sauce and green beans. The food was visually a slop mess, unrecognizable and cold. We were tired and hungry and ate what we could. We left so dissatisfied and disappointed. I've been to other Black Bear diners and have had wonderful meals. I didn't want to complain to the server as she was nice...not her fault. Should have gone to Chipotle!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this time I felt it was necessary. We went to this location and everything seemed fine at first—we were seated right away. After that, however, the experience went downhill. We had to ask for water and coffee, and then waited quite a while before anyone came back. When we were ready to order, we asked another waiter if she knew who our server was. She was very nice and said she would find out, but even after that, no one came to help us. At that point, we went to the front and said we would at least pay for the coffee. They were kind about it and told us we didn’t have to pay. We ended up leaving and going to another place where we were served right away.

Came to the establishment on November 09, 2025 at 1:30 to 2:30pm, a waitress in glasses with a goatee wearing a Derrick Carr , approached us and helped us take our orders, a table of 10, separate tabs. Then my nephew had to leave, paying his girlfriend’s meal only, then later he was handed a receipt. But then the waiter snatched it off his hands stating he would need to correct something on the receipt . When he returned, he added a gratuity tax on his tab, and it’s arranged because no where does it state that there’s a tax required at black bear or any other restaurant in our area that we need to pay for that. I’d be kind to give him one. But this really outrage me. As a citizen of Los Banos , this is ridiculous! Do your jobs kindly and not obligating for us to pay more!!

Ordered the New Blu Cheese burger with homemade onion curls and fries. I how they prepare the onion curls and if they were fresh? The waitress didn’t know she guessed and said every day.The burger was ordered med and delivered to the table. It arrived with the top bun burnt,underneath was a clump of batterd masa with a sprinkle of salad bacon bits . Then the processed overcooked burger the bottom bun with a thin film of blue cheese on it . I asked the waitress what the clump was and first she said aioli spread I tapped on it (it was hard like over cooked chicken) she then said onion rings. I asked her to take it back and also address the top burnt bun . I heard her tell the cook to make another one bit returned with only a fresh top bun.

Sat for nearly 45 mins and they kept forgetting about us. My husband went to check on our food and they say they were going to tell the server to check on us. Not once did he come to at least give us an ETA. After 15 more minutes my husband went to pay for my daughters burger, only plate they brought, and he was told nobody knew were in the back. Makes no sense because how did my daughter get her meal though. Keep in mind they were not even busy & we ordered burgers. More than 40 minutes to make burgers is insane. First time trying or trying to try Black Bear & we get this experience.

We always come to black bear and my family loves this place. Today was just not the day for us. We got milk and the cup had pulp from left over orange juice on it so it wasn’t washed right, the server fixed that for us but then we got our pancakes and the pancakes tasted bitter, they were burnt in 2 of our meals.
