The Bristol is an iconic restaurant to Louisville, being a small chain. The mildly upscale environment with really good food, which is locally sourced, is always a solid choice for an evening out.

Great location for lunch with friends to celebrate a birthday! Wonderful service and great food as always. The hardest part of the visit is deciding which of my favorites to order. Special requests are always approved and served perfectly. Not our first trip and will definitely not be our last

Best fish Tacos in the Country. Lightly fried fish with corn, beans and crunchy salsa. The best part is the crispy flour shell. 😜

Food was great. Got the steak burger. It was cooked just how I wanted and the potato slices were crunchy and loaded with flavor.

This would be my husband and I's second time attending Bristols brunch buffet. Most definitely won't be our last. Justin was our server this time, and thus far is our favorite. He is attentive, nice, and personable. There is plenty of parking and lots of handicapped spots near the door. I'd suggest making a reservation, but you may be okay if you have a smaller party. As of now, it's $27.50 per person for the Sunday buffet. You do get a lot, though. Even if you have picky people in your party. If you have a wheelchair it may be a bit tight to maneuver. It's doable, though. Overall, yes, this place is a bit on the pricier side. However, you get a good variety. There are people watching the buffet so it stays stocked, fresh, and maintained. Lastly, the atmosphere provides a cozy place to eat brunch with a date or family without talking over loud music.

Thank you to Bristol Bar & Grill for being open on Thanksgiving and having a fantastic buffet. Thank you to the staff taking time away from their family's and I hope everyone who came in made it worth while for you. It was nice spending time with some family and eating great food.

Dine in.. Lunch. A wonderful locally owned small restaurant chain. Service was friendly & helpful. The restaurant clean & patrons well spaced for social distancing. Food was delicious, as always, with good sized portions (I could only eat half) and served quickly. We ordered our favorites: Green Chili Wontons and Sweet Theresa Pasta (light on the Blackening Seasoning for the Chicken) which came with their lovely fresh baked homemade rolls. I highly recommend this dish and have been ordering it for years, it is why we eat here. It is Fettuccine Pasta tossed in a light Alfredo that has a bit of Sweet Thai Chili Sauce which gives it a subtle twist from a traditional Alfredo without being "spicy". It is topped with Blackened Chicken Breast and I have found over the years that it is better if you ask for them to back off on the seasoning, otherwise it can overpower the dish. It is finished with Fresh Parsley & Shredded Parmesan and garnished with a touch of sweet pickled Red Cabbage which adds a delightful touch of sweet and crunchy texture to the dish which really enjoy. Again, I will say that I've been ordering this dish for YEARS and it seems they have switched to making their own pickled red cabbage or changed their recipe for it because that part was not as good as usual.. but it is still yummy. I have ordered many other dishes here which I have enjoyed and their menu has a decent variety to choose from.

Loved the atmosphere, took a little while for us to get the food because they had a huge party in there at the same time. They served warm bread to start. Waitress was really sweet and communicated with us. I had the teriyaki salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly but I personally did not like the teriyaki sauce. Just my personal preference, I don't think it should be on salmon but it was still good none the less.

The food was out of this world amazing. Margaret was our waitress and she was very attentive and had wonderful suggestions. Since we were visiting from out of town she also offered some suggestions of local places to visit while we were there.

My husband and I had our Rehearsal dinner on Hurstbourne. Johnathon and our server did a wonderful job. They went above and beyond what we expected. We were a party of 15, and everyone was taken care in a courteous and timely manner. All food from appetizers, main courses to desserts were outstanding.

Experienced good food and customer service on my visit. This was a work outing (lunch). The service was very efficient. My entire party was served quickly. I thought my salmon was perfect. Shoutout to the skillet potatoes!… I snuck some from my colleague’s plate… fabulous!

We went to celebrate Mother's Day. We had an incredible time, and the person who served us was incredible. She was very patient and always had a smile. The different dishes were delicious. They made you want to clean the plate with your tongue. Thank you so much for everything.

Went on Mother’s Day 5/11/25 for their Brunch and it was wonderful. It appears they have it timed right where it’s not too crowded. Food was wonderful. I keep talking about it to everyone. Also a lot of options to pick from both breast fast & lunch/dinner options.

We went here to celebrate my son’s 24th birthday. The food was excellent, the setting was quiet and spacious and the service was PERFECT! Justan was polite, attentive, kind and personable. You can tell that he loves his job and wants the customers to enjoy their experience. I don’t write reviews often but Justan deserves the shout out! Thank you!

My son and I attended the Thanksgiving Day Brunch. Loved everything about it. Our waiter was very attentive, polite and efficient. Buffet was excellent. So many choices and good quality food. The restaurant was very crowded but service was above average. The staff did an excellent job handling so many people. The atmosphere was festive, low key, never felt rushed or had to wait in long lines when refilling my plate. Will definitely have more visits soon.

Another of the best restaurants here in Louisville! My meal was my favorite there, the Sweet Thai Linguine. Very pleased with the wine choice. And very good & timely service! In my view, they well earned top rating!

It got a bit loud toward the end, as there was a shower if some sort going on. The food was fantastic, and our server was awesome, really on the ball. My only complaint was that they did not have the orange chicken salad on the menu.

The Bristol is always one of our go-to spots, and for good reason. As soon as we sat down at the bar, Jessica greeted us with such a warm, friendly vibe—it really set the tone for the night. The food was, as always, absolutely delicious, and the service couldn’t have been better. It’s that perfect combo of great people and great food that keeps us coming back.

I had dinner with my brother, parents, and aunt. We had a great time, Robert did such a great job as our waiter. He was friendly and quick, one of the best waiters I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with. I got the Pork Dijonaise and it was one of the greatest meals I’ve ever had. I will make sure to come back every time I’m in town.

I ate at The East location and had a side salad and the vegetarian lasagna. The portions were large for the lasagna. I also had a dessert of a chocolate bourbon tart which was delightful. I know I should have paired my heavy meal with the lighter lemon chiffon pie which I have had before and highly recommend. The sauce on the lasagna was plentiful as were the vegetables. I look forward to eating the rest for lunch tomorrow as I had saved room for dessert. I had paired my meal with the Rebellious Red Wine blend which is one of the few red wine blends I will drink. It was great with the lasagna. The rolls that come with the meal are made there and are addictive and hard to turn down. You have to try them.

Standard go-to when I'm in town for an annual conference. Great $2 drafts. Good food and great service. We always have a big group a nd they have no problem generating separate checks.

Great Louisville staple. Green chili wontons to the hot brown, everything is great. The customer service is amazing and the atmosphere is chill, clean, and perfect for as family dinner or a date.

7/14/2025 We went to the Bristol Bar & Grille-East on Monday night. The main reason that we went was because it was Louisville Burger Week. They had a special burger that night that may not be on the menu past 7/20/25. We had the Blueberry Waffle Breakfast Burger. It was awesome!! It was too big and too sticky to hold in your hands! It was like a multiple sandwich. Partly hamburger, partly a breakfast sandwich. We had a special appetizer, Chips & Queso. They were house made potato chips strong enough to dip in the queso. Some of their staff is hoping that they will stay on the menu. The restaurant was well decorated and the low volume made it easy to talk. Robert J was our server and he not only knew the menu, he knew the restaurant business, but he should, he’s been doing it for 30 years. I told him that we were going to tell our friends about our visit during “Louisville Burger Week” and he said to tell you all that he said, “Come on over and have one of our burgers!” I say that, too! We had such a great time! They have outdoor dining also. Robyn

Sat down for a couple drinks at the bar. Restaurant had a good feel, the bartender was super cool and the drinks were good... I would have to go back and order food before giving it 5 stars

Always my favorite! Sweet Theresa's Thai Linguine! Can't not love it! Best on the menu! The wait staff is very friendly and fast! Especially Mr. Ponch from the Hurstbourne area restaurant!

My husband and I had our wedding rehearsal dinner here a few years ago, and every year we come back and eat on the day before our wedding. The food here is top-notch, and this is one of the few places I know where you can order a Hot Brown. I overheard a waitress tell someone last night that they just started serving off of a new menu, starting yesterday. The food is a little bit pricey - my entree last night was $18; so we don't come out here often. But we always enjoy it when we do.

Great place for lunch. The crab cake sandwich was very good. Also recommend the hot brown and grilled chicken salad. Note - they have $5 daily drink specials - try the larceny black cherry manhattan, it was very nice.

Ah, the good old dependable Bristol. Have been going to its various locations for decades & will continue doing so. Have never had a bad experience. Plenty of vegetarian options (except on the soups). Lots of menu standards we like. Last night Laura had the vegetable stir-fry with teriyaki (a tad much for her spice-averse tastes) & I had the crab cakes with aioli sauce & steamed broccoli. Very tasty. The grilled salmon, fish sandwich & pad Thai are also good. Our server, Margaret, was excellent. The crowd skews older so we fit right in! Easy to have a conversation. Grateful for this longtime Louisville favorite.

The restaurant is cozy and the service was good but the food quality wasn't very impressive. We visited them for burger week and for sure it's not their specialty. But in general we had good time.

We had a group of 22 and they did a great job of being ready for us. While we only had 1 waitress, Nicole did a terrific job. Would have given the food 5* but it wasn't hot. It was good though.

First time eating at the Bristo in years. Had the burger special for Louisville burger week. The burger was on the small side but very tasty. Restaurant decor is dated. Will visit again for one of the Bristol traditional menu items

We go every Sunday for brunch… the staff are all very kind and attentive. The food is great, they change SOME stuff on Sunday buffet but usually it’s the same. We enjoy this… the ONLY downside, we attend Bristol after going to the gym. Many arrive shortly after church. We get so many looks and nasty comments over out attire. But it doesn’t slow us down lol we expect nothing less…

Very accommodating. Server was very attentive and friendly. Food was good. I had a New York strip that was cooked well… just could have used a bit of seasoning. My husband had the quesadilla with chicken and said it was really good. Prices for the time were reasonable. We will go back!

I almost never eat at any of the Bristol’s now, though they used to be on our regular rotation years ago. A friend wanted to go so I figured we’d see if anything has improved. Food is and has been for some time consistently mediocre. New ownership? I had a Cobb salad with chewy fried chicken today. The toppings were great (bacon, egg, blue cheese crumbles, etc.) and plentiful. Too bad they were over a TINY bed of lettuce, completely out of proportion to the toppings, and on a plate that I can only guess was part of a portion control regimen imposed on the kitchen. It’s a $14 lunch salad, put it on a regular sized plate so people don’t make a mess and double the lettuce and it would be good. The fried chicken was lukewarm and too chewy, very disappointing. Chairs at our table had delaminated/peeled seat tops making them look streaky and dirty.

Not the best brunch buffet, I've had better. A lot of the food had been sitting out a while at 1245pm on a Sunday. The broccoli was amazing and the fresh fruit, everything else was meh. I'm persnickety so it may be better for some.

I'm disappointed in the "southern" fried chicken. Just not what I was looking forward to. Call it "Bristol" fried chicken. Vegetables great, grits a good consistency but the cheese is probably an acquired taste. Service was sketchy, 2 orders wrong, infrequent checking on our basic needs, but must own we were a large group and quite engaged with one another so some of that may have the server trying to anticipate and respect our needs. Would I come back? Of course. Would I recommend Bristol? Yes. This is a Louisville tradition. May have just been an off night.

Went a few Sundays ago for my friend's birthday. We had a group of 13. We weren't offered a menu. We were told there was a buffet. We were never told the cost of the buffet. The food was subpar at best. Biscuits and gravy was very salty and not hot. Egg frittata bake cold. Chicken was good. Shrimp cocktail was good. The salmon was mushy. Then to get the bill, and the buffet be near $30 a person was asinine. Mimosa was good. Our server was very nice but we had to ask for refills multiple times.

T
Tyler Voyer

Expensive, mediocre food. Burger week burger was dry and under-seasoned. Crab cakes were 2 for $14 and they’re the size of half dollar coins. Chili was weird - not chili. Stir-fry was soggy. Service was great. Waitress was nice and food speed was nice. Complimentary bread was a pleasant addition.

Not worth the price, had no flavour of Thai chili, was just creamy with cheese and no house salad was served.

B
Becky Berezoski

We were here from out of town and the food was good but for what they charged the portions were super small and not worth the price. I got the west coast salad and it was $17 and the size of a side salad with only 2 shrimp. The crab cake was good though and the dressing was good. The burgers came with chips that just looked like regular potato chips you could get from any grocery store-nothing special. The actual burger was good but served on an English muffin that was nothing special. My husband got shrimp and grits and he said they were good but again for $20 he only got 4 small shrimp. We have a local restaurant that we eat at back home with amazing shrimp and grits, same price point but you get 6-7 large shrimp. To me-not worth the price. Our waiter was pretty ambivalent when we asked for recommendations and seemed annoyed that we were there.

Still waiting for the rest of the chicken that’s supposed to be on this salad. I eat The Bristol every so often, but this time is a let down. I requested extra bread and butter, I didn’t receive any at all. I requested additional dressing and sauce, none of that either.

June 22nd 2025 My husband son and I came to Sunday brunch to dine the main reason I wanted to eat here was the made to order waffles I was so disappointed when I bit into one and it was not done in the middle this is not the taste that I remembered lastly the salad was wilted and warm may be because it was sitting in the same area as the waffle iron. I will not visit this location anymore I’ll go to the other one on Main street.

Husband picked up food during Lville Burger Week. First time trying this place. The burger we ordered was their breakfast burger which was featured for burger week. The burger we received didn't even look close to what was advertised for burger week. Waffles (used instead of buns) were tiny and rock hard. Was supposed to feature a fried egg and instead had a square piece of fake egg (what they serve in a school cafeteria). There was supposed to be some type of maple sauce on the burger which was missing. We also got the crab cakes, which were very thin and not great. Mac and cheese was so dry just looked like a heap of cooked noodles without any type of cheese or sauce.

T

I had not been to the Bristol for a little while until last night 10/23/25 @ 7:30pm. Because it is Hot Brown week in the city (the Bristol doesn't participate in city's celebration of the dish and I was ok with that), I was going to where the Hot Brown was supposed to be the best. Well last night, I ordered one and there was only a bite size of bread at the bottom. The rest was all turkey, mornay sauce, and bacon. The service from the waiter (Ryan) and the manager (Jonathan) was less than stellar. The food took forever for the few amount of people that was there. Ryan's service (while observing him serving others) was not the same as to what others received. The manager (Jonathan) took over 30 minutes to address my concern with my dish. His attitude was not professional. Very Disappointed

Food was good, but staff is untrustworthy. My wife accidentally left her purse at the restaurant, and upon returning the next day to retrieve it, all of the cash had been stolen out of it. What a nice group of people they must have working there.
