just had a lovely lunch here. I had derbyshire oatcake delicious. A little on the cool side, I mentioned it to the waitress & she whipped it away & brought another piping hot. My husband had the best ploughmans he’s ever had. Fast service great atmosphere. Dog friendly. Great shopping area too.

First visit today and we will definitely be back! Hot chocolate and cake. Yum yum

A seemingly unlikely place to have such a nice little restaurant/café. We have popped in and eaten here several times when visiting Bakewell and Matlock and never been disappointed. Good service, lovely ambiance and great food. Usually we stop in for a coffee and cake, but had something a bit more substantial this time – BLT and the sweetcorn fritters. Both were delicious. Have to say, the pizzas did look good too. In addition to offering a variety of food and drink, they also have a nice selection of little nicknacks, generally kitchenware. Difficult to resist taking home a random kitchen trinket, but we managed this time. Fantastic location if you are visiting one of the many tourist spots around – and the shopping centre isn’t bad either.

Thoroughly enjoyed my solo visit. I received a lovely warm welcome by the lady front of house and I was seated immediately, served quickly by yet another lovely member of staff who took my order I had a filter coffee which came in a cafetiere and the breakfast which was delicious. Great value for money, for high-quality food, and excellent service in such a beautiful setting.

Please note . The current 3.8 rating is NOT a reflection of both the service and food that we experienced today. We'd travelled an hour and a half from Sutton Coldfield on a recommendation and were in no way disappointed. Shared the Sirloin steak sandwich with a side of fries. Melt in the mouth - 😋 Washed mine down with a bottle of their honey IPA which was delicious. We will most definitely be returning, and recommending 👍🏻

It's main purpose is as a restaurant for Breakfast, Lunch, and Afternoon tea. An unusual and pleasant interior that accepts dogs. Excellent coffee and cake. Good place for family or couples to meet up. It's not all about food. Range of quality goods on sale. Good customer service too.

Tried here for breakfast, lovely place with really friendly staff. Their full English is great, black pudding hash is incredible! I felt like the house made beans were missing something though? Wife had corn fritters which were also really good. Not huge portions but left us with room for a croissant after which looked like they were made in house and were delicious. Breakfast, pastries, juices and coffees came to £35 so pretty good value considering everything comes from chatsworth. All in all a very good experience and would definitely go again. Thanks

The food is sublime! I had the steak sandwich on a cob and it just melted in the mouth. The staff member was attentive but not pushy, a perfect dining experience, so much so we went back the next day!

Very cozy place. Here you can calmly drink coffee/tea or just have a snack. Also buy flowers 😍. It's so beautiful outside here right now before Christmas. Chatsword always greets you beautifully 🥰I want to come back here every time for the atmosphere of comfort.

The photo doesn't do the food justice. This burger was one of the best I've ever had. With loads of cheese and thick cut bacon it was gobsmackingly delicious and very filling. All washed down with a lovely pint of draught Camden IPA. Thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic service. Had 2 children with us, and they were great with them. There was a slight bit of confusion in the kitchen, but the overall care from all the members of staff was great. The food was fantastic and was plentiful. Wonderful service from SaraK. Would definitely come back again.

Arrived at 09:30 on a Saturday morning, already people seated and ordering. We were seated by a very pleasant lady, menus delivered and drink order taken, few mins later drinks delivered food order taken. Full English x2 were cooked and presented pefectly and tasted very nice. Staff were friendly and pleasant. Definite place to return to.

A rather nice find, on a miserable day. We went to Rowsley, Peak Shopping Village, which is greatly improved since my last visit, which would have been prior to the covid debacle. We chose the Chatsworth Kitchen from a couple of other places and were not disappointed. Great food, drinks and lovely staff. Well furnished in a comfortable manner, which makes one feel unrushed.

I've loved the few times we've eaten here, even if I always feel underdressed for such a posh establishment, lol. But the staff have always been great, friendly & personable along with fantastic food. Highly recommend a visit for lunch.

Lovely atmosphere, very welcoming staff and beautiful little gift shop. The food was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The only negative I would point is the size of the portions, they have been reduced since the last time I visited, but I guess these are the effects of the raised prices off food.

Visited for breakfast weekday morning at just after 10am, the restaurant wasn't to busy so no problems in finding a table. Staff are friendly and helpful Had full English at just over £13 was good but not the best, one smallish slice of sourdough toast and skimped a bit on the baked beans (which is possibly the cheapest item) coffee was expensive at £4.50+ The restaurant is very nicely fitted out and will definitely return.

Anniversary meal for me and the missus nice staff decent wines and a delicious meal. We were lucky it was fairly quiet when we were there definitely a cut above the food from other touristy stately homes. Good job

arrived 1:45pm on thursday, it hasn't got a large restaurant area, one third of area occupied by selling goods. the menu wasn't comprehensive. we ordered salmon and breakfast dishes. with that price, no potatos included in the salmon dish. breakfast meal was tasty. no free wifi was in the premises. staff were friendly.

A lovely restaurant within the Peak village shopping area. Does get busy and would recommend always prebooking a table. Reasonable prices for the quality of the food and great staff with friendly and helpful service.

Lovely airy cafe/shop - nice and cool on a hot day. Table service. Food was nice, but smaller portions with a bit more finesse would have suited us better.

After many visits to Chatsworth Kitchen I thought it was time I left a review! Visited with friends for breakfast yesterday-it was quiet but I had booked as it can get busy. Beautiful place, love the atmosphere, love the interior design, always end up buying something from the retail part as it’s so lovely, staff always friendly. Now the food, it’s tasty and nicely presented BUT I wish the menu was more seasonal. As someone who visits regularly and usually for breakfast meetings/get togethers I get tired of the same menu. This time we all wanted the berries, yoghurt and granola option (it was a hot day) - but unfortunately they had no berries so we couldn’t have this. We then looked at the menu and there aren’t many ‘lighter’ options. We opted for the mushrooms and poached egg which was nice, the mushrooms came in a thick creamy sauce. I’ve had this before although I’m sure it used to be served on brioche. I think Chatsworth Kitchen is lovely and I’ll keep returning as it’s a lovely place to meet.

Went for breakfast with a friend we waited a long time for coffee and eventually another person was enlisted to help and they arrived. I could see mine waiting on the counter for a while so it wasn't ultra hot when it arrived. We ordered breakfast just before it finished as they were going to be busy at lunch time as it was Easter. Both arrived, hot and tasty. Friendly service and a nice place.

This is a lovely cafe. Very nicely decorated. It's a bit posh. Food and coffee are fine. Good service. It's in the outside shopping centre/mall with plenty of parking. We have always just walked in but they like you to book at busy times. The meals are quite light.

Fantastic for person in wheelchair. Nice environment. Sadly food disappointing. Half portion giant cous cous£7.50 2 pieces sun dried tomatoes and 5 pieces of feta . Boring and expensive for what it was . The meat burger was good as were the fish cakes. I don’t believe the chef has tasted the cous cous dish otherwise I am sure they would not have served it,

We booked this for a birthday lunch out after a pleasant visit late last year, unfortunately things seemed to have dropped off since then. The staff were very friendly but there were a few times they were stood chatting a laughing with each other when we needed assistance (like taking 20 mins after clearing to take our order dor dessert and tis was only when we stopped someone). We both had pizzas which came pretty cold. I had the mushroom and onion one, the mushrooms were raw it had been in the oven so quickly and it had a tomato base added which made it very unpleasant and all the photos here have it with no tomato so I think they made it wrong. Luckily I ordered a sausage roll on the side which was delicious as I couldn't stomach most of the pizza and we didn't want to make a fuss and send food back on my birthday. The lemon cake was amazing though! All in all, ok if you are passing for a small bite but I wouldn't have high expectations.

Gluten-free is cake is just one, and it's always cappuccino it never changes. The main meal options are just as bad, so do not recommend visiting if you are a celiac.

Excited to visit here as seen some fabulous images of the place… it didn’t disappoint on the whole look of the place! It’s been beautifully designed and put together. The interiors shop to one side is great (far better than the courtyard shop at Chatsworth house) with lovely homewares and gifts. After perusing the cakes under the domes on the counter (no prices displayed … big bugbear of mine!) I chose a lemon and elderflower cake. It was very average and seemed mass produced and was left underwhelmed. The coffee as I could see was from a decent ‘proper’ machine using roastology beans so expected a decent cup but it was bitter and poorly made. I would return to try the coffee again and peruse the homewares but will give the cake at £4.75 a miss!

Very pleasant. Some of our party loved their food, others were disappointed.

Service was chaotic, slow and disorganised, with mistakes in our drinks order. It was very busy and I think they were probably understaffed. Food was okay, but a little disappointing compared to earlier visits, the quality wasn't as good. Not the worst experience but I won't be rushing back.

New menu but chef cooking from old. Cheesie mushroom flat bread ordered but spicy mushroom pizza arrived. My wife being celaic had little to chose from and that couldn't be delivered. Restaurant half empty due to loads of reserved tables. Waitress helped sort our menu issues.

Our visit to Chatsworth Kitchen in Rowsley had highs and lows. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her Ploughman’s Lunch, praising the fresh organic cheddar and tangy pickles. However, my sister and niece were disappointed with their steak sandwiches, which were rubbery and lacked flavor. My hamburger was unfortunately overcooked and very dry, making it hard to enjoy. The service was noticeably slow, though the staff remained friendly. On a positive note, the decor was lovely, with charming, modern-country touches that created a warm atmosphere. While the setting is inviting, the inconsistent food quality and slow service detracted from the experience.

For the second time we chose to sit outside. Wanting to give them the benefit of doubt I didn't leave a review for the previous visit as the service fell short of what I would expect. On the previous occasion we ordered a meal and drinks and sat outside waiting and waiting and waiting. Going back to the till to enquire about our order we were told that due to a computer error the order didn't go through to the kitchen. Food and drinks arrived along with many apologies and an adjustment to the bill - thank you for that but better service would have sufficed. I won't bore you with the latest visit, just read the comments on the previous visit exactly the same issues. A lovely venue, let down by the lack of action to correct a problem that had arisen before.

Looks fab - as you'd expect from a Chatsworth business but......I don't know.....just lacked something . Good menu if you're wanting something a bit nice but not sure how many, going to The Peak Village, are wanting this. But I'm sure plenty of people will visit the village to go there specifically - especially as you visit and not pay the Chatsworth parking fees! There is loads of free parking and it's only a short walk through to the cafe from there. It's one of those cafes that you have to wait to be seated. They don't do it for me - especially if you're just wanting a quick coffee and cake. We visited once before but walked out as people were queuing out the door to be seated when there were obviously plenty of empty tables that we could have all just gone and sat at. Today we'd to wait for a member over staff to actually come and deal with us - and they were not busy . We found, on the whole, that staff were a little bit aloof. Maybe they wanted people in that wanted more than a quick drink. Coffee was fine, nothing special. Again, cake was fine, nothing special and not a great deal of choice. Would I visit again - maybe but I wouldn't make a special trip. Would I recommend it - maybe if you wanted to impress someone with a Chatsworth lunch without the hassle of visiting Chatsworth.

My mum and I went for our annual christmassy trip to chatsworth and was recommended chatsworth kitchen by a friend. Although the interior, atmosphere and the food itself was very enjoyable the same cannot be said for the service. The cafe didn’t seem busy as such however we waited 10 minutes to order our drinks. 25 minutes later the people around us who had been seated after us had received their drinks and many of which had received their food. Once we asked a waitress where our drinks were she explained that the drinks had not gone through to the barista but explained our food had gone through to the kitchen. This was confusing since we’d ordered before numerous tables around us and many of which had received their food. Another 20 minutes went by and we asked where our food had gone. This time we asked the lady who seemed to be the host who was very friendly, however the waitress originally serving us seemed to be avoiding us after the incident with the drinks. After 50 minutes we finally received our food and the host let us know that she would remove the drinks from the bill to compensate us. Although the food was really tasty no one then came over to interact with us and sadly it felt that no one made a true effort to apologise for the mishap. Although this would not put me off visiting again because of the quality of the food and clearly a one off error for our table, aside from the friendly host it felt like the situation was not dealt with in the most professional or efficient way, which was indeed a shame.

Booked for breakfast yesterday and to be quite honest we were unsure as our last visit a few weeks ago was disappointing. However Peak Village was our destination and this restaurant is convenient. Two of us ordered the oat cakes one with bacon the other with egg the order was delivered wrong but this was rectified. Surprisingly the oat cakes were cold and the mushrooms bland. Not enjoyable at all but the yoghurt the third person had was ok. As Friends of Chatsworth we receive a discount otherwise I’m afraid a complaint would have ensued. As far as we are concerned no further chances we will go back to Massarellas 100 yards away where the food is consistently good and hot.

Reception/door staff need to improve their customer relations. The lady who served us was unhelpful and seemed unable to cope with what would seem to be a normal amount of customers. The younger lady who served us at our table was, however, very helpful and pleasant.

I visited recently for a reunion with friends . Ive been to Chatsworth kitchen many times . The decor and atmosphere is lovely. The washrooms are beautiful and provide well in the paper towel and soap department. The food however had not been up to expectations on my last visit, however I decided to give them another chance . I chose the homily pie which was unfortunately still in desperate need of further cooking the diced potatoes were still hard . It resembled a pie that you could purchase at a budget shop rather than a homemade one that had been given some care . The lack of care ran over into presentation were by my pie had been placed directly on top of the chips and didn't tantalise my taste buds at all. I did explain to the staff and was offered something else, but if it can't be done properly on the first time then I really can't repeat the process again . Sorry Chatsworth kitchen but I really would appreciate more care .

I took my mum and dad here for a Mother’s Day treat, front of house assistant was amazing, so polite and happy. The waitress who took our order was lovely, we ordered a pot of tea, two cold drinks and 3 pieces of cake, I watched the assistant who worked behind the counter preparing the tea, juice and placing cups on the tray, this then stood for 5 minutes then another 5 minutes going and getting the cake from the back kitchen and another 5 minutes unpacking the cake and cutting it to put on the plates, then it sat there for another 5 minutes, I then went up to the counter and asked is this our tray and she said the waitress will bring it to our table the waitress plonked the plates and drinks on our table with no smile or apology for how long it had taken them to complete our order. Very disappointed with the service of chatsworth kitchen.

I took a drive specially here once I saw they had vegan options for breakfast. I was so looking forward to it but it left a lot to be desired! Beautiful decor and friendly lady led me to my table on arrival. I ordered a pot of tea but when I tried to pour it, it dribbled out.. thought it was just a rubbish teapot but when I looked in the spout for the source of the issue I saw something was wedged in there.. I don't know what but it appeared organic in nature. The lady apologised and got me a new pot so no big issue there and then I ordered my full english breakfast. It arrived after 15 minutes and looked decent enough, the vegan sausages were tasty but the mushrooms and spinach were so soggy and flavourless, like the type you get at premier inn buffet brekkie! So disappointing. Half way through eating it I realised the avocado was missing! I asked a waitress if it was meant to come with avocado and she said she'd check and then came back with a bowl of it saying 'yes sorry about that'. I'd already eaten my one slice of toast by this point so didn't have much use for a bowl of avocado.. and then as I was finishing my sausages and hash browns I saw someone at a nearby table tucking into vine tomatoes.. It dawned on me they should also have been on my plate! I stood up to find a menu to check and yes, both avocado and tomatoes were mentioned. Why on earth was I being drip fed food?? There was no one around to ask so I just finished my plate and when a chap came to ask if I was done I told him yes but I wasn't happy to pay full price for it since half of it was missing. No hint of an apology he said 'ok, i'll let the Bonnie know'. I'm not sure if I was expected to know who Bonnie is but I awaited her arrival or a bill to pay.. In the mean time the table next to me got their food served, both of which they immediately sent back because it wasn't what they had ordered. Shambles. After 15 minutes of nothing I asked him again if I had a bill to pay and he said Bonnie on the till had sorted it. I went to the till and Bonnie did manage to muster an apology though there was no explanation and she took 20% off my bill as well as the pot of tea. All in all, I shall not bother returning!

Went here as a birthday treat for my dad’s birthday. Upon entering we had to wait a while to be seated and then for the hostess to clear our table so we could sit. The chairs are uncomfortable and we were sat next to a dog, dogs in restaurants/cafes are a huge no for me. We then waited 15-20 minutes to have our order taken, watching tables sat down after us order before us. A supervisor eventually walked past us and asked if we’d ordered, menus still on the table, obviously we haven’t. The drinks took around 10-15 minutes to arrive. They were lukewarm, the slice of cake we ordered for 5 quid is minuscule and the scones as nice as they are were a bit dry and could do with more jam and cream and butter that isn’t stone cold. Overall it’s got a nice atmosphere, but this doesn’t match the service given. It’s slow and chaotic for what’s essentially a normal amount of people wanting a coffee and a chat on the weekend.

K
Kate Shand

My one star for this cafe has nothing to do with the cafe itself, or the food. It’s about being made to feel like we didn’t matter because there was only three in our party and not two or four, only three. We were only offered one table, that’s all she said was available for three. She made it quite clear it was the only table being offered. The cafe was practically empty. There were tables for four, but only one for three. We wanted to eat so we stayed. We were seated at a table for four in a corner by itself next to the fire exit, the high chairs and the kitchen. I had my back to everything so saw nothing but a wall. None of us could see anyone else in the cafe who were enjoying the wonderful ambiance and atmosphere around them. We didn’t order food as we just lost our appetite. The Chatsworth Kitchen was the start of what was going to be a lovely day in the Peak District on our 50th wedding anniversary. She certainly ruined the start but not the day. I’m sure everyone visiting this lovely cafe will enjoy it as we had hoped to. But beware of the table in the far corner next to nothing. Just say NO THANK YOU! and leave. I wish we had.

⭐☆☆☆☆ We visited Chatsworth Kitchen recently, and honestly, it wasnt great Here’s the rundown: First, we were running a bit late and tried to call ahead, but apparently, answering the phone isn’t on their to-do list. We arrived flustered, only to find out it wouldn’t have mattered anyway—they weren’t exactly prepared for us, they made us order food before being seated! When it came time to order, they didn’t listen properly and then claimed they couldn’t change the order because the kitchen was “closing soon.” Strange, considering they were supposed to be open for another two hours! Does their kitchen run on a different timezone? So I ended up doing a surgical procedure the meal to remove cheese 🤢 The pièce de résistance? They’d run out of ketchup. KETCHUP. How does a place with “kitchen” in the name run out of the most basic condiment? I half-expected them to suggest using tomato soup instead. To top it all off, the staff had no clue how to check for offers/discounts, the response was a mix of confusion and shoulder shrugs. It’s like they’d never heard of their own promos before. The location is beautiful, but honestly, they could learn a thing or two about customer service—and stocking the essentials. Until then, we won’t be rushing back.

Popped in for a lite bite on Monday at 1:30 was greeted by a nice colleague and sat outside went in the restaurant to place order all good , front of house popped out five minutes later no scones available savory ones was surprised to be told they had sold out at lunch time? Really surprised that such a well known establishment had sold out at this time ? I would have thought that communication is key and definitely available

Sat for 30 minutes (off peak time, 2:50pm) only wanted two drinks. We watched three other tables that arrived after us get served. We went to the front desk and the lady politely took our order. We gave it another 15 minutes and gave up. Great venue, lots of staff zero organisation. Sad really
