Amazing food and great service. We went on a Saturday night without reservations. The wait time was 1.5hr so we decided to sit at the bar with no wait time. They don’t have a lot of variety on menu but I guess that makes the selection precise and focused. Every dish was so yummy. Service was attentive. We had a great date night.

Thank you Roger T. for your service tonight. He recommended the tiramisu and we are not the biggest fans but this one was amazing. He was also quick and attentive, but gave us time to finish each course. The food was delicious! Can't wait to come back and try something new.

My first time at this location at it definitely did not disappoint. First recommendation…. Make a reservation especially during the holiday season. I did but plenty of people just showed up and there was such a long wait. Maybe because we went on Saturday for lunch and it’s the holidays so the mall’s extra busy. Staff: With our reservation we were taken on time. The staff/host/hostess were all welcoming and friendly. We were checked in immediately and taken to our table on schedule. Our waitress was great. She was the perfect amount of attentive. We didn’t feel rushed. Meal: Where do I start with the food and beverages. Well it was all so delicious. I was so pleased with all the meal choices. Everything tasted so fresh. Atmosphere: Busy. Again it’s the holidays so expect the restaurant to be packed. But it wasn’t loud enough where I couldn’t hold a conversation. I would say the tables for 2 could be tight if you’re seated by a column. Overall: This will be my go to when I’m in that area and at The Short Hills Mall. Thank you to the Chef and entire team who made it such a delicious lunch. My meal….. As a known and admired brand, Eataly is first judged against itself and then other restaurants. At Eataly in Short Hills, the restaurant compares well, even if the size of the adjacent shopping area is a bit “short” relative to other locations, owing to its relatively smaller size. The restaurant thankfully has plenty of space and space is what you need keep in your belly for a delectable Italian meal. I’ve been to Italy many times and so that is my context, along from years of living in New York. That creates a high bar but I’m careful to give restaurants a fair shake. To wit, I believe that Eataly provides the flavors and feels you want of an Italian restaurant. That is except for the bread, which you have to pay for – – probably the worst part of the experience for me. I start with the Caesar salad, which is great except that it doesn’t taste like a Caesar salad. I can’t identify the ingredients all that much, but the leaves are soft and there is a dressing that is akin to a ceaser but not quite, and it has a crunch to it because of what seems to be breadcrumbs or something – – you think I’d know! The pasta is fresh and seems to be al dente every time we visit. We enjoy the truffle pasta, but the truffle looks like tiny dots compared to the completely intact shavings thar ww get in Italy for half the price. Nevertheless, it’s delicious save for the excessive amount of butter. Just not necessary! Yet I’d get it again. The sage Ravioli is as you would expect it to be and a delight. Also a tad too much butter, but still great. You’ll want to try the Cannolo — It’s not a cannoli unless there’s more than one as Italian speakers would know. It is hearty and unusually flavored. The staff is pleasant and attentive. All in all in comparison to others in the chain, it may not be at the top, but still a delightful experience of Italian fare where you could then walk outside and pick up plenty of things straight from Italy Or is it Eataly?!

Not only was our food delectable, but our server Guadalupe was absolutely wonderful. I felt like I had known her for years, she was so patient with us, so polite and knowledgeable about the menu! I can’t wait to visit again have the best food and the best service thank you so much.!

We had the absolute best experience celebrating my birthday today at Eataly thanks to our amazing server, Roger T. From the moment we sat down, he was personable, friendly, and attentive—he truly made us feel like we were in great hands. Roger had such wonderful recommendations, and his knowledge of the menu made everything so easy and enjoyable. Beyond that, he went out of his way to make my birthday feel extra special, and it honestly felt like we were being taken care of by a friend. Thank you so much, Roger, for helping make my day unforgettable!

A good experience, pleasant atmosphere, excellent food, and a surprise at the end with a quality dessert. I loved the pistachio ice cream. And the service from Djeury Simpsons was sensational. She spoke good English, and when she discovered we spoke Portuguese, she started speaking in Portuguese, which brought us closer together!

The experience at Eataly is truly authentic. 🇺🇸 The deep sense of Italian tradition and heritage is unmistakable, just as history connects generations in the book, Uncle Matty Comes Home. It takes pride and respect for the craft to create such honest and delicious food. 🎖️ We had an awesome bottle of Pinot Noir with our meal, and it was a superb choice, a fine balance of quality and character. The lively marketplace atmosphere, with its vibrant energy, is a welcome and uplifting feeling. It's a taste of a different culture that celebrates a universal love for quality and family. 🇮🇹 #Eataly #UncleMattyComesHome #VeteranOwned #AmericanMade #ItalianTradition #PinotNoir

I had an incredible lunch at Eataly in Short Hills—what an experience! Everything from the ambiance to the service was top-notch, but the standout for me was the appetizer: squash and ricotta with truffle honey. It was absolutely divine- perfectly balanced, creamy, and bursting with rich, earthy flavor thanks to the truffle. I could’ve honestly made a meal out of just that dish! If you're anywhere near Short Hills, do yourself a favor and stop by Eataly. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Finally got to check out Eataly at Short Hills Mall—where all the cool kids (and foodies) go to eat! From the moment we walked in, Lorenzo, the GM, set the tone with his warm welcome. He was fantastic, walking us through the menu and making spot-on recommendations. James, our server, kept the experience top-notch with his attentive service and great personality. It’s no wonder this place is one of North Jersey’s hottest restaurants—yes, even if it’s in “a mall” (though it’s my favorite mall, so no complaints here!). We started with a spread of pizza, prosciutto, burrata mozzarella, and calamari—their trademark apps—and let’s just say I’m glad it was a cheat meal. The standout? The Blood Orange Utakian Soda. Absolutely my favorite, and it’s so hard to find! For mains, the truffle pasta and chicken Milanese were both incredible. We were too stuffed for dessert but couldn’t resist stopping by their to-go market next door, which felt like a slice of Rome. Pro tip: If the dining room’s fully booked, grab a seat at the pizza bar. You’ll thank me later. Definitely put this spot on your must-try list!

This was our second visit in just two weeks—and Eataly did not disappoint. Huge kudos to our server, Jay (warm, knowledgeable, and clearly experienced), and to Jonathan, the manager, whose servant-leader style set the tone for a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. We were seated right away and welcomed with complimentary prosecco. Since we don’t drink (although offered complimentary Prosecco), we happily opted for San Pellegrino Blood Orange instead—refreshing and just right. Alongside came piping-hot potato croquettes infused with cheese and herbs: crisp on the outside, rich and flavorful inside. We began with rosemary focaccia, so it was good we immediately ordered a second round, this time topped with roasted yellow and red tomatoes. Soft, fragrant, and paired perfectly with olive oil and a pinch of salt—it elevated a simple bite into something memorable. Next came a shared Caesar salad, generous with fresh, crisp greens, bold anchovies, and an extra hit of robust shredded cheese at our request. The bowl was polished clean. For our mains: Salmon with watermelon radish and carrot salad—grilled to perfection, tender and juicy, served skin-side up. Fettuccine Alfredo prepared tableside—al dente pasta coated in a beautifully balanced cheese blend. Rich, creamy, and absolutely satisfying. Dessert was the showstopper. Their tiramisu arrives wrapped in a clear cylinder that’s dramatically lifted at the table, releasing a cascade of cream over layers of mascarpone. Decadent, inviting, and impossible to resist. We paired it with smooth vanilla gelato—perfection. We shall return...

Bustling spot for Italian dry goods, Italian meats, cheeses, wines and even appliances. Large coffee bar that is a super nice spot to stop and people watch while enjoying Abruzzo coffee. Also take out food including pizza and sandwiches. Oh, and one more thing... A sit down restaurant with table service and beautiful bar in the back. Pasta and pizza specialties that are so tasty!

Happy hour takes a break from 5pm to 8pm. So we just had a pizza and wine but it was so delicious. The restaurant itself is massive. We sat at the bar and were very well taken care of. I had a glass of the Floreado sauv blanc and it was exactly what I wanted on this hot day. And a glass of the primitivo which was also very nice. The insalata rucola was really yummy with that tiny hint of bitterness that makes arugula so great. The pizza WAS FANTASTIC! Just like pizza in Italy the dough was wonderfully baked with that hint of sweetness in the sauce and the spice from the meat. Really really yummy and it took about an hour.

I have never been to Eataly before but always wanted to go. They have a really impressive collection of imported foods; every type of pasta, cheese, olives, pasta sauces, coffee. I tried the Soppresatta pizza and the Burrata pizza with Prosciutto and it was pretty good. I also tried a lemon semolina pastry which was good. The restaurant was absolutely delicious, especially the gelato! Their coffee is also really excellent here; I highly recommend!

Went for dinner with my parents who drove down from Boston on a busy Wednesday night. We had Quadir as our server and from the experience he gave us to the amazing food and the wonderful coffee to cap the night. This was one of those perfect meals from start to finish. We are actually coming back tomorrow again because we loved it that much. Must try if in the area. Atmosphere is a touch loud but thats the only bad thing and its not a bad thing.

The food, ambiance and staff, was amazing! The cheese monger, Kody, was super friendly and was able to discuss the differences between the cheeses and give great recommendations! She is able to tell you what cheese can be paired with and that is super helpful when planning get together a!

As someone from Italy, I have high standards for Italian food, and Eataly never disappoints. Great experience at the restaurant - though remember to make a reservation, the wait without one was 2 hours. The barbabietola salad (beets salad with pistachio pesto) was INCREDIBLE. Great selection of pizzas from RossoPomodoro, the prosciutto and arugula pizza was a favorite at our table, high quality ingredients and great execution! We really liked the cavatelli with salsiccia and broccoli as well. Remember to save room for dessert (tiramisu, panna cotta, and the chocolate tortino - which was an unexpected hit). Overall, we liked everything we tried. Worth mentioning the drinks as well: the menu has lots of interesting spritz options (the rosato spritz was a favorite at our table), as well as wide selection of wines. Service was very attentive. Overall, wonderful meal. The market is also nice, a bit smaller than some other Eataly locations, but it always has a nice selection of authentic food and sweets.

The food was really amazing and it’s really great that they can make the pizzas/pastas gluten free! Guadalupe was our server and super nice/attentive. Definitely coming back❤️

I highly recommend Eataly!! You could easily spend a few hours here if you wanted or grab what you need and use the self check out. A cafe/coffee counter, wine shop, Italian grocery/market, and of course a restaurant. If you have been to any of the other locations in NYC, this one is a bit smaller but still great. Eataly is popping up in other cities nationally and internationally. Easy parking, or you can go through the mall as well. We experienced the cafe before we did some shopping in the mall. When purched wine and a few items from the market. The pistachio gelato was amazing with limited ingredients, which is always a plus. I definitely recommend reservations. We chose to sit at the bar. Our bartender was personable and highly knowledgeable. I will definitely be back!

We love Eataly’s grocery store at Short Hills and the cafe (not the restaurant though). Love to stop by for early breakfast with my friends. They also have the best produce there: everything is so fresh - we shop there every week. Their staff are also amazing. We want to say a big and special thank you to Marcy!! She is absolutely incredible! Always so helpful and caring about her customers!

The restaurant was amazing! We loved everything! Alfredo from the wine section was so helpful and knowledgeable about all of the wines available. We made a great selection of a few red bottles based on Alfredo’s tips. Ashley at the front desk who checked us out was absolutely kind and welcoming! I haven’t felt a good sense of costumer service in a while and she completed our trip with the biggest smiles to end the day. Thank you Alfredo and Ashely for welcoming us into Eataly Short Hills we will definitely be back!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Eataly, and the experience was really good even though it was a bit chaotic knowing you are at a mall. The host Glenn was exceptional! From the moment we arrived, he greeted us with a warm smile and a genuine sense of hospitality that made us feel welcome immediately. I left feeling appreciated as a guest, and I can't wait to return! Highly recommend visiting Eataly, not just for the food, but for the outstanding service from the host crew and waiters. that set the tone for an enjoyable meal for me and my family

I want to say this is my 2nd review from this restaurant, Unfortunately the 1st time we had a problem where they ran out of some food and we couldn’t order what we wanted, Carlos the manager contacted me and asked me to give them another chance and we did. What an amazing experience, I brought my wife, kids and even my mother and we had a wonderful time, from the moment we walked in, Félix walked us to our table and Rodolfo the waiter took our order, food was fresh, cooked perfectly and delicious, started with the burratta e papa al pomodoro with focaccia Bianca, amazing, kids had some pizza and they were incredible, we had the pastas and same, even we ordered some drinks Aperol spritz for the ladies and an old fashioned for myself. Outstanding service, phenomenal food, great ambience & an excellent team behind this elegant and great restaurant. The gelato with caramel and pistachios to end an amazing evening! Thank you to Carlos for coming to our table say Hi and talked for a bit. We are most definitely coming back and strongly and gladly recommending to all our friends and people to give Eataly a try! You will not regret it. We can only give them 5 starts but we would give them happily 10 if we could.

This place did not disappoint. The atmosphere was welcoming, our server was amazing, and most importantly, the food was delicious with perfectly sized portions. Shoutout to Quadir for providing exceptional service throughout our experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Fun place to walk around and explore the different sections. But the prices are a little outrageous. We got a lemonade and one slice of pizza. Both did taste good but we paid 17.50. We did wait a long time to have our pizza warmed up. There different sections are gelato, coffee, pastries, pizza, restaurant seating area, and the usuall home produce and products.

Visited during Napoli Night tasting event. Had the chance to try 6 dishes at a unique communal table setting. 1. Cherry tomato, Stracciatella bruschetta nicely toasted and offset with creamy umami topping 2. Fried pizza dough "pizza fritta montanara" quite toothsome 3. Dried spaghetti cooked with regional Cosi come datterino tomatoes especially al dente as typical of dried pastas 4. Gnocchi with house-made mozzarella a standout for textures of both, perfect degrees of chew 5. Fresh spaghetti with fried zucchini different from the rest in not being tomato-based but rather olive oil and Agrifrom Grana Padano DOP cheese-dusted 6. Paccheri pasta well picks up beef ragu sauce

My boyfriend and I have come to this restaurant a couple of times and we’ve never had a problem here so far. The reception was able to get a table for us after about 5-10 mins after our reservation time. The food here is delicious but although a bit pricey.

Came in around 2:30pm on Thursday. Hostess had a bit of a stale personality and seemed to have an issue with not making reservations even with plenty of tables open. We were seated right away. The interior decor was nice and the area was clean. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. Food arrived at our table in a timely manner. We started with the Bruschetta Invernale. The ricotta was fluffy and heavenly. It had just the right amount of honey on top and the texture of the sourdough was great. For entree we got the Tonnarelli Cacio E Pepe. While I thought the homemade pasta texture was excellent, it was SO SALTY. It had to have been a mistake. It was salty like the ocean. It's a real shame too because they clearly put some good pecorino in it but I couldn't eat more than one bite. Our waiter was kind enough to take it back and I opted to order something else. Second try I got the Al Ragu Di Funghi with Tonnarelli instead of pappardelle because I enjoyed the noodles for the cacio. This dish was fantastic and seasoned perfectly. I enjoyed the different textures of the various mushrooms and the ragu was rich and comforting. The dessert I got the Millefoglie which I thought was absolutely delicious. The cream was light and airy. The puff pastry packed with buttery goodness. I think the portion size was way small for $16 and also could have used way more berries. Our waiter let us know they comped our dessert due to the inconvenience of the cacio e pepe. I really appreciated this and am looking forward to coming back and trying the other dishes.

We went to EATALY today for brunch. for 3 adults with 1 adult on a wheelchair. Reservations for 1130. First, they granted the request for corner table due to the wheelchair. Second, James was our server, he was awesome. Service was quick and efficient. James was very knowledgeable about the menu and had recommendations. There were other servers also helping, Daisy with the pink hair, a few others. We started with DIAVOLA DULCE PIZZA for our apps. We also ordered, LINGUINE ALLO SCOGLIO (which was ok, it was good but we've had better), POLLO ALLO MILANESE(my friend said it was good, my husband and I didn't try it). Lastly, TIRAMISU PANCAKES were awesome! It really tasted like the dessert. All in all, our faves were the DIAVOLA DULCE and the TIRAMISU pancakes. If you can come early, I suggest come early, by the time we finished, it was pretty crowded out by the reception area. ))

The pizza (diavola dolce) was really 10/10. Sweet, slightly spicy, thin chewy buttery crust. The pastas were good but not outstanding. Lasagna was real good if you're a lasagna person. The "Panna cotta" tasted good, but the texture was more like a dense whipped cream than a true panna cotta, which only really bothers a truly neurotic person like me.

S
Sean Fusco

It's nice to have the little wine shop because they have a great selection of some hard to find varietals. The market pales compared the the New York location, but they have a selection of fresh filled pastas that is very good. The restaurant feels like its in a mall, but that's because it is. The chairs at the bar couldn't be less comfortable, but they position you just right so the splatter doesn't hit the shirt.

F
Fernanda Duarte

First of all, I want to thank Roger T. for his excellent service — he’s the reason I’d want to come back to the restaurant. I was expecting a more distinctive flavor from my Fettuccine Alfredo Burro e Parmigiano, but it had no salt at all (I asked to add meat, and that was also unsalted). The Lasagna Emiliane was good, and the Bruschetta appetizer was tasty. The best of all, without a doubt, was the Gelato — it was delicious! I’m giving 3 stars because, for the price paid, I expected more flavorful dishes and a larger portion of pasta.

This new eatery is definitely experiencing growing pains. The interior decor is very nice and modern. The food is ok, for the price point. The drinks are also at par. These were the good points. The bad: service is friendly but slow. They fail to bring clean plates, condiments, and other requested items. Further, seating takes forever for no good reason. Empty tables abound, but turnover is glacial. May need a do over.

D
Dennis Shu

I was there for Napoli week tasting. Food is good but they don't have enough servers to serve customers. Kind of long waiting time. Still acceptable about the price for this special event.

O
Onward Fernandez

To begin with, the lobster sauce was simply tomato sauce with a dry lobster added. The linguine was overcooked, and the beef pork meatballs were mostly pork. The margarita pizza was okay because it didn’t have much grease on it. However, the zucchini calamari was too greasy and not crunchy. There were also many empty tables, even though we had been waiting for an hour and a half for a table.

Restaurant Review Management: The manager could definitely be more welcoming. It wouldn’t hurt to brush up on some customer service skills—how they talk to customers could use a little work. Food: Appetizers were solid, pastas were just okay, but the pizzas were really good. Service: The waitstaff was hard to find most of the time. Our waitress was fine but not very attentive. Drinks: The cocktails were a big letdown—way overpriced and honestly not drinkable. Ambiance: The interior is gorgeous and really sets a nice vibe. Overall, it’s a mixed bag. The place looks great and the pizzas are worth a try, but the service, drinks, and management need some attention.

This review is for the restaurant only. I’ll start with the bad first. * hostess made a face and rolled her eyes because we did not have reservations mind you it was Tuesday at 1pm. We did get a table in the bar area, not sure why an issue. * food menu is limited if your looking for the steak, fish or chicken (about 1 choice option for each) and of course overpriced. They charged $6.00 for 3 piece chicken nuggets on a stick as a side of chicken (see photo). Overpriced is an understatement. $6.00 for a small cola *VERY long wait times for food, lunch took about 1.5hrs. We only ordered steak and the salad with chicken. Now for the positive: *food was decent for the options *our waiter was nice (unlike the hostesses) *the atmosphere is nice and clean. (See photo) *there are other options to visit like the market and bakery besides the restaurant. Yes, they are very overpriced, but its more on the specialty brands. (See photos) The other reviews with similar experiences seem to be on par with mine.

The food was good, but absolutely not worth the price. What really ruined the experience was the service, starting from the moment we checked in. We arrived 30 minutes late, past the 15-minute grace period, and the manager handling check-ins made it very clear she wasn’t happy to see us. Her attitude was cold, unwelcoming, and frankly unnecessary. We were told to wait, which we did without any issue, but after 20–25 minutes with zero communication, I asked for an update. Her response was, “You were late for your reservation. You have to wait. I don’t have a table for you right now,” delivered in a dismissive tone as if we were doing something wrong by simply asking. When we were finally seated, I apologized for being late, and she didn’t even acknowledge it — she just walked away. We were a group of five, originally six, and she later came back to ask us to move from a comfortable table to one that barely fits three people because she “had a bigger group coming.” That larger table sat empty the entire 90 minutes we were there. The whole experience was frustrating and unnecessarily unpleasant. For the prices they charge, this level of service is unacceptable. Save your money and go somewhere else.

F
FELIPE VILLEGAS

Worst experience ever. I don’t care how good the food was — and yes, it was actually amazing — because everything was ruined the moment they served me a drink with TWO dead flies floating inside. Absolutely disgusting. There is zero excuse for this level of negligence in any restaurant. Instead of enjoying my meal, I spent the rest of the time wondering how many more insects were lurking around. It completely killed my appetite and my trust. Great food doesn’t matter when basic hygiene is ignored. I will never come back, and I honestly hope they fix this before someone gets sick.

J
Jazmin Montenegro

We had a horrible experience. The waitress didn’t know the menu, answered with disinterest, and had a bad attitude. The only moment she acted friendly was when it was time to charge us. Same thing at the gelato counter — terrible service. We asked the girl if we could pay in cash and she made a weird face, as if the question was ridiculous. Then I asked to try a flavor and she rolled her eyes. The ice cream itself was soft, almost melted. It was tasty, but not worth it. Overall, the food is average. They charge you for everything, even the bread you ask for, and it’s nothing remarkable for the price — especially considering the poor service. I wouldn’t go back or recommend it. P.S. 1: I work in customer service, so I know people can be difficult and you get tired, etc., but this was just bad attitude, 100%. P.S. 2: I never bother leaving bad reviews, but the service here really ruined the experience for me.

Honestly Eataly was such a letdown. Everything we had was low quality and straight up disappointing. They try to make the food sound appetizing with fancy Italian names and ingredients but when it comes out it’s just an average dish at best and in most cases not even that. The Alfredo was cold and bland like it had been sitting out. They actually charged me nine dollars for one sad dry chicken skewer. The Bolognese was overly salty with zero depth or flavor just a salty meat mess. And on top of all that the servings were small as hell like you’d think with the prices they charge you’d at least leave full. The only thing that was actually good was the meatballs which were juicy and flavorful. But one decent plate doesn’t make up for a bad meal overall. And to top it off I literally saw the guy serving water picking his nose before pouring water for other tables. That alone had me ready to leave. Everything was ridiculously overpriced for what you’re getting. You’re honestly better off going to a family owned Italian spot or even the Cheesecake Factory. At least there you’ll get consistent quality good portions and actual flavor. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

J
Jaelee J

Horrible experience here - was told the wait would be 40 minutes so I added myself to the waitlist. It ended up being over an hour until we got seated, then had to wait 20 minutes for water, and another 25 minutes for the food to come out. It was ridiculously slow. On top of that the food was terrible. The taste of everything was either bland or just bad - sour pasta, bland gnocci, and the apps were bland as well. For such a long wait, I would expect better quality food or at least free bread like they have at other Italian restaurants. The portions were very small. They plate the pasta in these huge patterned bowls to make it seem like there’s a lot, but the amount of pasta received was closer to the size of a snack than a meal. We left dissatisfied, hungry, and feeling sick from the awful taste of everything. I will never even turn my head towards an Eataly again.
