Best Mexican restaurant (like, sit down, nice restaurant) in East County. The best quality food, usually great service, great drinks, great atmosphere/design, great bartender/owner, a better menu than other regional restaurants (but with a classy edge) and a good Sunday brunch. Occasionally packed on weekend nights, but reservations can be made in advance if you're bringing a group.
We probably come here once every couple months. It’s always great, but today I especially appreciated the general atmosphere and cleanliness, the food, etc. The fajitas are always outstanding, nachos are fantastic, and tried the Mexican Jambalaya based on a suggestion from our server and was super pleased. Along those lines, huge shoutout to our server Carlos who, even though he was decently busy, was extremely attentive, very friendly and personable, and made sure we had a great time and were well attended to. He’s seriously a gem. We left extremely satisfied and happy thanks to him and the outstanding food and atmosphere here.
It was like they knew we were going to be there. The wait time or "ticket time" was amazingly short. Our food was delicious. Exactly what I had been looking for. I will be a definite repeat customer. Everyone had a smile and were friendly. I don't look at prices because if it's what I want, it's what I'm going to get. Regardless of what it costs. So no need to worry about how much something costs if it's what you want. You have a great crew. It seemed like everyone worked well with each other. And that helps keep the positive vibe. Thank you very much... See you again...
Not at the same level as their Burbank location but the staff is friendly and attentive and the food is on point. Great spot in way out Moorpark.
It was my B-Day yesterday, my lunch was great & I had a free dessert! The guy was sweet enough to put a lit candle on my Vanilla ice cream! I had a one hard shell taco combo with black beans & rice. I really enjoyed it along with my Red Cabernet. Thank you Don Cusco’s!
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant, bar none! I find the food and service consistently excellent. And their margaritas are killer! Don Cuco's might be a few dollars more expensive than the run of the mill Mexican restaurant but it's well worth it. They've even managed to make their outside dining a pleasure. I've been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed.
Great! I had the Mole Chicken enchiladas and OMG! Amazing food.and service. This place is super clean and friendly. Everyone steps up to assist. They seem to really like working together. Our server recommended the Enchiladas. Great choice.
Don Cuco in Moorpark is one of the better Mexican food places around. Re Covid, they have a large, airy covered patio, and they have placed some tables along the side, and near the door. Staff are pretty diligent about wearing masks. Restrooms are available inside, but otherwise guests are not in the interior. Great Margaritas, love the salsa w warm chips, and all the food we had was fresh and flavorful. Their Chile Verde and Chile Colorado dishes are amazing. We'll definitely be back.
Great spot with an authentic Mexican menu and vibrant atmosphere. Portions are generous - we could’ve easily shared one dish between two people. Also, the best ceviche I’ve had in a while!
First time visit and so glad we did, we just found our new place! The service was impeccable, prompt drink refills, sincere smiles, excellent environment to relax and enjoy a great meal. CHICKEN NACHOS were beyond delicious, the chicken was juicy and flavorful, the black beans and sauce was absolutely delicious, and they do not skimp on cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and jalapeños, we shared an order and we were too stuffed for anything else. The chips and salsa was also very good. People sitting near us had a tostada and crunchy tacos and they looked mouth-watering amazing, we will be back! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.
Just learned about this gem of a restaurant! In one word, delish! There were 8 if us in our party, no one was disappointed or dissatisfied. Everything was incredibly satisfying! So recommend this restaurant. My favorite was the chile rellenos! Another favorite was the fajitas. Tortillas were freshly made, yes from Mom's kitchen! Atmosphere was nice Margaritas were Grand. Looking forward to our next visit!
Been here a couple of times now and have been very pleased with their food and service. They have great margaritas plus great chips and salsa. Wanted to order something small this time, so I was able to order a plate of black beans only. No white rice...stuck to my doctors orders! They were very tasty and healthy. I’m glad they were able to accommodate me. Last time here I had one of their chicken salads and it was also good. Nice patio dining area.
I live in Fillmore there isn't any good Mexican restaurants here so when I feel like Mexican food this one of the places I like that's closer to me, and good food, good service and great atmosphere
Walked in at 8:30 on a Friday, and got a table for two immediately. It was busy, seemed quite popular. Tables, booths and everything was clean and the bathrooms were nice too. The service was prompt, friendly and the food came quickly.. and was pretty good. I’d definitely eat here again.
Incredible service Stuff are so friendly And nice 😊 Food is so good Coconut Margarita the best
This is the place where you take your best friends for a good time. Pretty good for lunch too.
Best margaritas. Get the grande skinny cadillac margarita on the rocks, you won't be disappointed. The food is exquisite and the service is also impeccable. All tortillas are made in-house daily, so fresh! Salud, y órale!!!

It's your Old fashioned Mexican style restaurant. Very much on the dark side. But service and the food was excellent
I cook Mexican food so I was hopeful that this would be better than what I make. I don't make flautas! They were perfect! The rice and beans had the right balance of flavor and not too powerful, not bland, perfectly fluffy. I also had the Bentley Blended Margarita. It had a nice kick. My other two companions also had margaritas. One had a strawberry and the other had a raspberry. Of course, I had to taste those. Both were very yummy. Maria Cruz was not our server but was helpful as we were looking for our very busy waiter Noe. We would go again. Pleasant atmosphere and a nice place to go and celebrate an occasion.
Been awhile since been in and really enjoyed our lunch. Both the bartender and food was great!!!
Best Don Cuco's and I have been to all of them. Fajitas are great. My family goes almost weekly. Prices are fine, even good for what you get. Not sure what anyone below is expecting from a sit down restaurant in California 🤣

Very nice surprise the food was very good, the place is LOUD due to high ceilings & tile floors, but nice place. Food was better than expected. Nice surprise.
Very nice staff, warm atmosphere, and good margaritas, but the taste of the food was plain. They do make the tortillas fresh in the restaurant.
Great service, a bit pricey. Standard sit down Mexican food, definitely not taco shop style. Always seems to be busy at this location. Been here many times and the food is very consistent and good.
Service is good atmosphere was pretty good. Margaritas were just OK very large, nice and strong a little pricey.

We drive from another neighboring town to have lunch or dinner here, we really enjoy it. Like everywhere else now in Calif they seem a bit understaffed but the manager always seems to be stepping in to fill the gap. The food is delicious and fresh and the prices have remained very fair. They make their own tortillas that are out of this world. I recommend it for a nice quiet lunch, couples dinner or date night.

Food is really good but there is one older male waiter with glasses that always gets our order wrong. Multiple times each visit. Never have that issue with the other staff. So it's mixed feelings for me.
This place is inconsistent. On the weekends it's usually pretty good, but I went on a Wednesday when there were hardly any people there and the both plates of food we ordered somehow came out really cold. Not sure I'll be back.
Food had no flavor. Carnitas had a lot of fat. The atmosphere was great. Clean & festive. Had Chritmas music playing in Spanish, which was a nice change. It's bright inside. Doesn't smell like the other DonCuco.
I probably will not go again. Simple bean and cheese burrito the most basic Mexican dish missed the mark. Beans not cooked properly and flavor was watery. Staff and warm chips made up for the sub par dish with good service. Del Tacos beans are exactly the same. I left hungry..
Food was so so Slow service and place was empty I can't imagine if it was crowded better to skip this one go to lalos up the street

Typical Mexican fare, nothing special. Prices are overpriced compared to similar Mexican restaurants. Food lacks taste and spice. Very bland. Too many Mexican restaurants to choose from so we’ll not be returning.
Not the same Don Cuco experience that I’ve had for many many years. The menu pricing was different, that was to be expected for the food quality was way down. Had the tortilla soup which I always look forward to, was watered down. My daughter had cheese enchiladas, they were sweet, super odd. The beans and rice totally different as well.
We sat down close to the door. Soda was our choice. Botana platter was not we expected. Food was horrid. Next came the fajitas. Chicken had taste however the beef did not. We asked for the manager he was already upset. Living in a town where there's only three restaurants. This happened to be one of them. Manager did take off the fajitas with an attitude that was of childlike behavioral. We prefer Cisco's in Thousand Oaks.
Food was okay, they were stingy with the chips, the waiter didn't even check on us, and didn't see if we would like anything else to drink. I would not recommend this location.
In all fairness this was my secoubd time here. since I have reviewed hundreds of bisnesses, I thought a out doing a fair review. I counted 7 servers at the time a was there today, there where 27 customers sitting. I waited 24 minutes to get our drinks, 46 minutes to get our food. greatly disappointed with service. I want to emphasize the fact that I left a 3 dollar tip first ever, not saying anything a out the food only a out service.
🙁 we opened the menu and noticed how high the prices were for lunch and decided to try appetizers and we were very disappointed with the food. Good decision 🤔 the salsa had a sweet taste to it. We also ordered the nachos along with a bean dip that had tasteless chorizo! Tasteless chorizo OMG They forgot to add seasoning to the dishes! so bland. The wait staff are very friendly welcoming. what happened to to Don Cuco’s ? ...and the prices seem very high to me for Mexican food.

We get there and the hostess says , I have a table , but you guys need to leave at 7 pm ! Because the table is reserved. And if you want to wait for a table it's an hour wait to be seated. I will never go back to this restaurant again !!! The food was not good !! I order garlic shrimp, it didn't have any garlic at all !!! The food is too expensive and it doesn't have any flavor!!!
Food and service were substandard. Same sweet Salsa used for the majority of their dishes, ordered a pork dish and was served steak, and was told that that’s how they make the dish without any reference in the menu that the protein would be different, was not given the opportunity to change my order or remove it from the bill as it was not what I wanted.
The food is awful. Low grade meats are used. Tacos are premade and sitting. Chicken taco had barely any meat in it. After trying two orders. Margaritas taste like crap. We received raw flour tortillas when we asked for corn. Rude server brought us the wrong order and gave our table a bad attitude about it. Prices are way too high.$25.00 for nasty chicken fajitas, mostly onions on the plate. $24.50 for a margarita. $8.50 for a Coors light. Too many disappointments. RIP OFF!
First time here and it looks really pretty from the outside, then mostly pretty on the inside (could be nicer with a professional decorator.) Waiter was very good and attentive, however my food had an odd, really "sweet" unusual taste to it. Not rotten sweet but unusually sweet. The rice, the beans and the enchiladas all had this overly sweet taste to them. Low and behold, about an hour after being home, I got "sick" (yep, that kind of sick.....) Hubby had something different and didn't notice anything. So, either all of my food was spoiled or something was in all of the items that shouldn't be there. I will NOT be going back. I give a cautionary warning as I was very sick from it. If your food has an off/sweet taste, send it back as something is definitely wrong. I'd love a response from the restaurant, but I'm pretty sure that will never happen.
Today I went to this place and order to go at this restaurant. There was an older male in a white shirt who was very rude double charged my credit card and made me wait like an extra 15 minutes. I had to call my credit card company and report this restaurant double charging my credit card. At the end after 45 minutes wait and this gentleman rude behaviour I decided to cancel the order due to his behaviour. I don’t recommend this restaurant.
We've been going to Don Cuco's for many years. Today was our last time. The service was as bad as the food. Terrible. They didn't give us menus. The iced tea was warm. Had to ask for some ice for the warm iced tea. They didn't get my guest's order right. He ordered a full meal and they brought it a la carte. The beef in the tacos were mostly fat and gristle. The refried beans and the rice were burnt. The chips and salsa were okay. I asked for the check at least 3 times. The waiter never brought it. I had to go the cashier and have her figure out our bill. We won't be returning.
I don’t know how this place stays open. Went there for the first time, and order albóndiga soup. Not only was the soup terrible but the chips taste rotten. I can’t believe they are selling this food. Now let’s talk about the portions, soup coast me almost $10 and they expect someone to get full from these portions. Two albóndigas, not even a child can get full from this.

Not going to spend $25.00 on a two item combo. And then a neither $20.00 on a drink. So $45.00 for one person and a small meal. Sorry not me. I can get a better meal in Ojai. For half the price and twice the food.
From stepping into the restaurant to leaving the experience was horrible. The girl host and I believe manager at the front were unwelcoming and just looked angry. House margarita was $18+ for one margarita, the food was overpriced and bland, our server rushed us before we even looked at the menu literally just sat down. Couldn't understand half of what he said after he took our order he disappeared the rest of the meal. Someone else dropped off our check who was rude as well. Left a $5 tip which he was lucky to get with the service provided or better the lack of service. Won't be back to this restaurant or any other location they have
