Great spot for a happy Sunday brunch. The layout is really good and the bar area with multiple TVs as well. Tasty food and excellent service (Thank you Darwin). Although they have their own parking lot, finding a spot could be a challenge but it's a common problem for all Morristown restaurants. Definitely worth to try.
One of top spots to go for variety of specialty drinks, happy hour specials and quality food. They seem to have updated the restaurant area with wallpaper and new tables/seating. Our group meets annually here for dinner and it's a pinnacle spot for us because the aura and atmosphere is modern and relaxing. I ordered the Southwestern Salad as a vegetarian entree and it was delicious with a great portion on fresh food.
I can't imagine a better place to eat! Atmosphere is great for dates, friends, or family; it's very cozy and classy. They use top quality ingredients, which is perfect because I love to eat healthy. My jumbo shrimp were so succulent and flavorful with that lemon herb marinade. Our waiter was excellent, too! Very personable and efficient. Highly recommend!
Lovely food and great atmosphere for the evening. in downtown morristown with parking available
Situated off the Morristown Green, this American Grille features a trendy atmosphere with a good food and drink selection. Parking is ample, both behind the restaurant and across the street. Great place for meeting with friends and family. The staff and service are friendly and accomodating. Avoid the Diner next door and give it a try.
Service was exceptional and food delicious. This was my first time visiting. I was there for a birthday dinner. May have received special treatment but would be happy to dine here again.
Great, friendly service. Comfortable chairs and nice window views. Food was quite good , but just a tad salty with just about everything we ordered.
Great food, staff and environment. Hosted a happy hour for my co-workers and everyone had a blast and felt they were treated well
Loved the Shrimp Po'Boy sandwich and the sweet potato fries! If they're still serving the Im-Peach-Mint drink, I highly recommend it. Peach with a kick of jalapeno...delicious!
We're did a fundraising event there and it was a perfect place for it. Great atmosphere and the staff was really nice and accommodating. The apps were also great. Thanks!
The food here is americana with a twist and excellent. They have happy hour specials that include wine, beer, and tappas. They also have an excellent selection of vegetarian dishes
They remodeled the place and it looks great. The food and atmosphere is fantastic and so is the bar area. The staff is friendly and service is great.
I came here as part of a bridal shower party. The food was delicious, and the beverages were very good. Cute little place in a historic area.
Amazing food, amazing beer and wine selection and decent prices. Friendly staff and a great place to meet up with friends for drinks and dinner.
Great service. Food ok, not great. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks.
Food was delicious and just enough. The cr ab cakes for appetizer taste very good with a yummy sauce. Cozy dinning.
My fiancée introduced me to this place and we had the best time here! Great food and creative cocktails!
We had a team event, food and drinks were flowing, and the conversation was inspiring! Great place to get together with co-workers, friends and family!
This is the epitome of hospitality and great food. We had a party of six and a day prior to dining, I met with the management to see how best they could accommodate our needs and budget. They were very friendly and accommodative to and I came unsure if this was the right place and left knowing I made the right decision to dine at George and Martha's. While they are a five star restaurant, the interior decor is nicely designed, the restrooms are clean and emits pleasant odors. The chairs seat comfortably and you don't get the sense the you're being rushed. The server was very nice and genuinely catered to our needs. The executive chef came out to great us and I found that to be an added touch that helped made sure we had a good time. Overall, everyone left satisfied. The only way to adequately put the food into context is to say it overwhelmingly exceeded our exceptions..... it was that good.
We wandered into this place unexpectedly and they were able to seat a party of 4. This is a missing neighbourhood gem for Morristown. Very nice inside and our waitress was on the ball with us as well as the 6 or so other tables she was managing. The quality American fare was excellent and decently priced. I think the server left a knife for the short ribs I ordered as a joke because they were fork tender and delicious. Only negative for me was that the drinks were somewhat watered down but were not overpriced. If you live in the area this place is a must try.
I went with my wife. We really enjoyed the food and desert. My steak sandwich was really good . The service was great. The manager came over to check several s time and gave us a complimentary glasses of champagne.
I went here for lunch and enjoyed it. I had the cod and it was tremendous. Had an appetizer of crab cakes/bars...they were ridiculous! So good. The place is redone on the inside, even the sign on the outside is now lighted. Just generally a nice place.
Food was delicious and leftovers were just as good. The cornbread appetizer was enough to share and good enough to eat too much of before you know it, lol.
Unique restaurant. The bar has a great vibe but there are no customers.
Food was good. Atmosphere lovely and the portions were huge. Our server was a bit of a "newbie" and tried very hard to take care of us.
Gets busy during the weekends, and not a spot for a quiet meal, but very tasty food. Try the delicious rack of lamb. Don't be fooled by the name - it's not colonial themed.
Delicious lunch, excellent salads and wraps. Especially good im-peach -mint drink. Highly recommended. Friendly service.
Good food, friendly staff. Enjoyed the atmosphere.
Great food. Great service. Carlos was our server and he was great with the kids and very knowledgeable when speaking about menu items. He did very well in directing us to choose the dish that best suited our desired taste. Everything we ate was great. The kids menu portions was enough to feed an adult and the cheddar biscuits were the best I ever had. RL biscuits can't even compare. I will defiantly bee returning to try more items off the menu.
Delicious food I had the open steak sandwich I got the onion jam on the side. I'm not usually one to eat onions but the sweetness of the jam takes away the onion odor/taste. It's quaint and quiet enough to have a conversation. I had lunch with a college friend and they did not rush us out of the restaurant after we ate. We were there for 3 hours. We sat in a booth and there was plenty of room for us. I honestly think you might have been able to get three average sized adults on each side of the table.
After reading the reviews we were leery. Don’t believe everything you read. We are visiting from out of town and had dinner with a friend. We found the service at the bar and the table to be quick and friendly. Everyone had salads and they were really good. We even got a hello from the manager who was very friendly, as well.
The food here is really good. Staff is friendly. Was here for a party and from what i gather the staff was very accommodating. Only reason i didnt give this place 5 stars is their bathrooms need some cleaning. From what i heard about the ladies room it was no better in there.
Decent food. Unimpressive menu. Can get busy. When it does, service is pretty atrocious. "Be right there" = 20 minutes.
Last few times here have been a bit off due to some changes in their menu. I'm open to trying new things, but the wife has limitations so as of now will not be back for a while.
The food was really good, however, the service was mediocre at best it took me forever to get served and quite some time to eat and get my first beer normally I wouldn't mind this but the place wasn't even crowded yet nevertheless the wings were really good and the steak was cooked just wright
They have good trivia, but I always find the menu underwhelming and the food equally “meh.” The last two times I’ve been there, the bartender has been terse and kind of rude.
Came here on New Years Eve as a last minute option. Parking was decent no fee in the back of the restaurant. We were seated quickly and were given menus. The server was nice but lackluster. Perhaps I was expecting more lively on account it was New Years eve and there was a full out party by the bar area. Our food was "good" nothing over the top amazing, there was something I would have tweeked about most things we ordered. We needed extra condiments and never got them, i think we would have ordered more drinks, food, etc but the wait was a bit long so we cut our loses. I will return to sit at the bar area but not to dine. I am glad I came and suggest you try it if in the area and open to something simple.
Well priced American fare. Great appetizers that are shareable and a well rounded menu. The restaurant is split into a bar area with a high-top/booth style area seating arrangement attachment and a separate dining room. If you're going on a weekend night and want to sit in the dining room, I highly recommend getting a reservation in advance. The bar turns into exactly that at night with live music and thus can get pretty loud. Stars were lost on this review because our food came out of the kitchen very slowly, we watched a party of three sit, order and eat 2 courses before our entrees came and my Cobb salad had obviously been sitting out warming up in the kitchen for a good period of time as the lettuce had lost most of it crunch from absorbing all of the dressing.
George and Martha's has an elegant atmosphere with average food and slightly overpriced drinks. Their bar is beautiful and they have entertainment in the front nook and plenty of TVs for watching sports. I've eaten here a few times and I wasn't particularly impressed, but I come back from time to time because the crowd is usually decent and the feel of the bar is simply more comfortable than other similar establishments in Morristown
Would’ve given 1 star but the waitress was very attentive.. I was actually very excited to try this place, because I’ve heard they are a “farm to table restaurant”, but.. We walked in got greeted by a hostess, set down. Waitress was not around, but we had a couple of shiny wine glasses on the table, the bottle we brought with us was a screw cork Pinot.. so I thought “not a big deal” I opened myself poured in to the glasses.. “cheers!” Ready to take a look at the menu.. but all of the sudden hostess ran into followed by on of the waitress “NOO!” She almost yield “you cannot bring your own wine!!! It’s not a BYOB place!!!” I apologized for misunderstanding and offered to pay a “cork fee” or order wine from their list (witch was brought to the table only 10 minutes after this unpleasant conversation) and asked if we could finish what was already in the glass.. response was “No! You can pour it back to the bottle or I’ll just throw it out” (!!) “because” she “ we don’t want to loose our liquor license” (!!) never heard anything like that in my life! I ask for at least a funnel, out waitress offered to do that on the kitchen for us so it wouldn’t be as awkward. Notes on the food. Really mediocre. Overly sweet (butter, salad dressing, meatball sauce) and lack of taste (flatbread appetizer) . Cauliflower entree was decent. Tasteless meatball came in a sweet sauce with a piece of plastic in it.. Decor was nice but day-bright light created cheap-dinner kind of an atmosphere.. Terrible experience.i
The food was average. I was a little put back that it took the hostess flagging down a bartender so I could get service. They passed me up several times.
very giood server -really bad food. Limited menu- poor choices. Sad meal- made no sense. Turkey served with melted swiss cheese. A small bowl of turkey consume to dip it in. Didnt help. And then there was a little metal bowl with yellow stuff in it. It wasnt butter -it wasnt mayo- what could it have been? And the fries were cold with white crumb like things on them that were tasteless. Perhaps if this had been about 8.99 instead of $19 I would be less critical. Seemed like anirplane meal.
Somewhat disappointing. We ate at the bar, while the drinks were good and fairly priced, the food was mixed. The open faced steak sandwich was good with crisp shoestring fries, but the chicken was a joke. Most places give you a full half chicken, but this place served a very small wing attached to a very small breast, probably a total of 6 ounces of chicken. The side of crispy cheddar potatoes looked and tasted like a manufactured frozen patty. I asked the bartender why he didn't advise me not to order the chicken and he simply grinned. Probably wouldn't eat here again.
Came here for brunch when a private event was going on. Even with a reservation, we were placed at the bar and we kept feeling like we were completely forgotten. Ordered turkey hash, which was just watery and not at all like it was described. Our waiter was very friendly, even if not terribly attentive.
Decor is where the good stops. I have been twice and neither visit was worth it. Strange considering the ownership. Bartenders are childish and cater to their friends not customers. They clearly over serve as the patrons were obnoxiously drunk and still getting drinks. Food each time was inedible. I had one side that actually tasted of patchouli like a careless hippie prepared it. Shame.....
Buyers beware! This menu, done right, could make for an enjoyable dining experience. Too bad they are buying second-rate ingredients (food and beverage) and charging premium prices. I don't mind dropping $80 for two for professionally prepared food and service...but frankly, the quality of both was substandard and overpriced. As for the manager, his vacuous platitudes about wanting to please us (without a clue as to how to go about it) ringed completely hollow. Caveat emptor!
Bouncers physically assaulted a man who was admittedly too drunk and embarrassing himself thorough silly dancing. But 4 dudes in black blazers came out of nowhere and slammed him against a bar stool which looked like it broke. The idea that any slight trangression will put me in an episode of the Sopranos means I won't be coming back.
Worst chicken and waffles I've ever had. Tasted like frozen chicken tenders laid over some egg waffles. Do not recommend!
This is the second time I went to George and Martha and it was terrible...the first time there were mice running everywhere and they comped me my meal which I was affraid to eat...tonight my fiance and I went and I ordered salmon with cauliflower and the both the salmon and the cauliflower we're so burned that they were black. I couldn't believe that they could bring me a meal that looked like that...save yourself the trip...
Terrible experience. Surely enough the place has potential but the service is not up to the standard and the food was just horrible and expensive. I am definitely not coming back
