Very nice staff! Food was good but not everyone in my group thought so. The French fries were really over cooked to the point of being bricks. My crispy chicken wrap was great.
It was Insanely fun. The Loaded Shrimp Nachos were big and a very filling appetizer for two people. My friend and I actually tried all of the drinks with Vodka and Gin and they ranged from fruity & sweet to creamy but light so there were tons of drink options. It's a lot of fun and the Pool Room is cool. The rustic look with splashes of modern make it a great and comfortable atmosphere.
Great pool hall for when I got into town. Wanted to have a few drinks and play some billiards with new friends and this was the spot. Fun, casual, low key spot worth checking out. Good shows on the weekends I’ve heard as well. Excited to see more of what it offers and will be having dinner real soon!
This place is really cool inside. I love the exposed brick an wood beams. We ordered steak, a burger, a pasta and shrimp dinner, and appetizers. The Caesar salad was phenomenal! All 4 of us ended up sharing it. It was so fresh and I loved the cheese shavings on top. We are from the Jersey Shore, so I was a little iffy on the shrimp and scallop penne, but it was really wonderful.
Been here many times over the years and I have never had a bad experience. The outside rear patio is such a great place to sit (when you have agreeable weather). Food is good, beer selection is extensive. Recommended. Also, they have a billiards room if you are up for shooting pool.
Bacchus Restaurant is great, If you are looking for a quick meal then this is not what you want, but if you are looking for a place that gives you time to enjoy everything they have to offer and the company you bring with you and find a place that let's you choose the pace of your choice as to give you the time to make the best of your time, if you want a little quicker pace then say so, if you want to enjoy your company and conversation along with the many amenities they have to offer please say so the servers are not mind readers and they are human (we are not perfect people) sometimes things happen and sometimes things go really well, if you feel like your not being attended to then please let someone else know, speak up, talk so you can be heard from not yelling but so someone can hear you, if you are having a good time say something let them know, if you feel like you had a not so good or bad time say something let them know, remember people it's like any other establishment it's run by people just like you and if the place has been there for over 30 years maybe more, then they must be doing something right by listening to there customers weather good or bad that's why they are still in business people, I truly love the place and the beers 🍻 on tap served just like they did in Greece, Germany and like at temperatures between 40° & 55° degrees, remember that beer was around before refrigeration and usually to truly taste a beer on tap is to taste it above 39° if it's brewed on site or if that is the way it is supposed to be served so you can truly appreciate the taste of the beer your drinking, if you really want a cold one then order a bottled beer from the refrigerator, but please understand people give someone a chance if they messed up don't keep complaining people remember that we are human we do mess up sometimes and we learn from our mistakes or did some of you people out there forget that you once or twice messed up ,we learn from our mistakes and others that have been there, but anyway this place is FANTASTIC to me, good job Bacchus Restaurant I don't think there has been a dish I didn't like here and I try something at least once ! ! !
I’ve been coming here for quite sometime now and they have really good vegan options.
Sat us immediately as a group of 7 after two other restaurants had a 25-45 minute wait. Off the main road but definitely worth it. Food was great, beer selection is extensive, service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly right from the front door to the table and back. Would recommend a thousand times!
Pretty chill place to grab food and a beer!! Wasn't a fan of the quesadilla but we loved the Mac and cheese, burger, and fries. The beer list was awesome as well as our waitress!! Definitely would love to come back to explore more of the beer list and some pool.
Absolutely delicious food. Slightly on the pricey side, but well worth it. Service was relatively fast and very kind. Made for a great reunion with some college friends. Will definitely go again. Oh, and they have a great selection of craft brews as well. The interior decor is somewhat rustic and it has a nice relaxing vibe.
Stopped in for an early dinner while driving through. Ordered the sweet potato tots, Mac and cheese, bacchus burger, and cheesesteak. Everything was delicious and our server was so nice! Big servings!
Eaten here a handful of times and its good for a nice bite but what this place is really a gem for is all of its fun offerings;events, good drinks, and billiards. From the live music, to the karaoke, and lets not forget the drag shows, Baccus always brings an unforgettable night to New Paltz. Outdoor dining in the daytime is available, and the patio is also great at night for a good smoke. 10/10 definitly one of my favorite bars in New Paltz.
Our waitress was fantastic! We had a group with many different food allergies, and they were so accommodating and helpful while we were there. The food was delicious, definitely try the brussel sprouts appetizer!
Great restaurant , great service ! Linda is so friendly and always has a smile on her face to greet you ! The Tuna steak is tremendous, my personal favorite , but I've never heard any complaints from my parties, whether it was 15 or just the 2 of us, it's always nothing but compliments and satisfaction every time we visit. Visit this restaurant and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed! Update::: 2/16/19 Once again a awesome experience! From being greeted by Linda to having Tyler wait on us we could not be happier. I had the Tuna once again, perfect! We also had wings for app, and full rack of ribs for dinner which were fall off the bone perfect ! I'm telling you please go here if you want perfect quality food and a great experience.
Epic place to chill, after you do your epic 5.15's trad climbs at the Gunks. Have only been visiting recently, only since 2006, after my first climbing festival in the area. Therefore, I'm basically new here, and only stop by, once every few years. However, their pizza's are awesome and the sweet potato fries delish. With mouthwatering burgers. Always great service and the bands are red hot.💜💙💜Do Love Absolutely Like 🤙👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤙🤙
This place popped up on Google Maps and it looked like a unique place. The place is amazing - old school bar/restaurant/pool hall. There were lots of choices on the menu, and I settled with the Bacchus chicken sandwich (delicious). The waitress was delightful. I enjoyed my lunch and a couple practice games of pool before hitting the road.
It's always a fun time here. A lot of space for the pool tables, delicious brews on tap, great games and great people. Note: you have to bring the people they don't actually have some form of deal where you walk in and they give your friends, you either have to bring them or make them. Also the food is great!
Haven't been here in years, was pleasantly surprised. Stopped in with friends for some apps after being at winery 10min away. Everything was great. We shared wings, Brussels, artichoke dip, onion rings & some drinks.
Visited Friday evening. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was great! Loved the Bacchus burger and fresh-cut fries, especially with my trio of dipping sauces. The boom boom sauce had the perfect spicy heat, the cilantro crema had the perfect fresh pop of herb, and the horseradish aioli had the perfect balance of creaminess and bite. Can you tell I love dipping sauces? Can't wait to visit again soon.
What a place walking into Bacchus is like walking into a different realm with crash dummy’s on the walls and the wide selection of drink and food make it a must visit! And don’t even get me started on the jazz!
Nice good food and casual service. Parking is a bit sketchy
Bacchus Restaurant, Brewery & Billiards in New Paltz, NY, is a sanctuary of flavors, a haven of hospitality, and a temple of delight. As I stepped across its threshold, I was enveloped in a warm, golden light, like a traveler arriving at a fireside on a winter's night. The food, a symphony of savory splendors, danced on my palate, each bite a masterful harmony of flavors and textures. But it was not just the cuisine that left me enchanted – it was the tender touch of hospitality, the gentle warmth of the staff, that made my visit truly unforgettable. And then, there was Grace, our lovely server, a sprite of sweetness and light, who tended to our every need with the gentle care of a summer breeze. Her smile, a radiant beacon, illuminated our table, making even the most mundane moments seem like a revelatory experience. In Bacchus, I found a haven, a place where the cares of the world were washed away by the rich aromas of roasting meats and the soft click of billiard balls. It is a place to savor, to linger, and to bask in the warmth of good food, good drink, and exceptional service. If you seek a culinary adventure, seek out Bacchus, and pray that Grace is your server – you will be blessed.
Amazing vegetarian options and great beer selection. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. This place rocks.
Friendly but undermanned staff. "Contactless" menus through QR codes (elderly non-smartphone having customers, be damned!) or the newly hired waitress' best recollection. Unique somewhat agrarian decorations hanging from without garish overkill like TGI Fridays. Wholesome woody scent permeates the establishment with calming illumination. Clean bathroom. Extensive offering of drafts and bottled beers. Delicious food at decent prices. On September 10, 2020 the Ulster County Libertarian Party hosted its first session of Libertarian Libations at this location.
I don’t normally leave reviews as I just like to enjoy my food and move on (I know, crazy right? Everyone’s a food blogger nowadays) BUT!!!!! The equilibrium tie dye science ipa was perfect and complimented the wings and burger that I had. For the wings I am a garlic parm guy until the day I die and I can say these are some of the best garlic parm wings I’ve had yet and that’s saying a lot. FLAVOR from the bone to the outside exterior, very rare imo to have so much flavor packed into these little guys. The smash burger was perfection. Well balanced from top to bottom and assembled perfectly. Flavor throughout and texture as a well. Again, 7/10 places just miss the ball and leave you disappointed. Caesar salad was also excellent. Texture, and favor and well mixed. KISS is an acronym for a reason and many places miss it every time. This place does not. They keep it simple and they nailed each item. Go here. Order: Smash burger Garlic parm fries Cesar salad IPA Besides the great food the staff is great and if I am in the area again this will be my only go to spot! Well done chef!
This place is what you exactly need after trail! Various menu, absolutely delicious food and huge portions. Carbonara was the best I tried! Also we had vegan bowl but with chicken, great choice for healthy dinner - load with protein, as I said all you need after hiking Cozy outside sitting, especially in evening time with lights And open until 10 pm, while many places here closed at 8pm
Some friends and I made a trip from Brooklyn out to New Paltz with the plan of hopping around to different breweries and bars, but after finding this place and being served by Lydia who was an absolute sweetheart, we didn’t even make it to a second spot! the vibes were immaculate, the service was amazing, and the food was stellar!! As a fellow bartender, Lydia went above and beyond and made us feel like we were home with friends. We ate, drank, and played games for hours and had the BEST time! We already want to make a trip back! Huge thanks to Lydia and whoever made my gorgeous smash burger 🫶🏻 Cheers!
I came here for the first time the other day (Saturday afternoon) after going to a nearby public family event. I was in a group of 5 (one being a minor), and they seated us immediately, although this place definitely wasn't empty. We all enjoyed ourselves. The food was great, the drink menu offered a large variety, the atmosphere was beautiful and the staff was super helpful and friendly. I wasn't very impressed by their cocktail menu, but they made up for it in the other variety of drinks they offer. They also have a bunch of pool tables to play on!
Big menu and great prices! The beer selection was incredible. The sign out front said 400 beers to choose from and I believe it. I don't know if I have ever seen such a good selection of beers. The atmosphere is so cool. It is classy, but fun. Old fashioned, but trendy. Dark, but comfortable and positive. We had a lovely meal on the second floor. It was quiet and even romantic.
Food was good. We had a very nice server ... we were 15 people so the food came out in a timely manner considering the size party. We were upstairs which was nice and private. On my way out I used the bathroom .... let's just say ... if I would have used that upstairs bathroom before having dinner ???? I don't even want to describe it ...
I walked in at around 6 pm and I was seated promptly and given a menu, but it all went down hill from there. I ended up waiting nearly 20 minutes with no one ever coming up to my table to check if I wanted to order or even to give me some water. The thing is that it was not even particularly busy, I saw maybe 3 or 4 other tables, and some of them already had food. At that point I just walked out because if I hadn't even been able to order in 20 minutes then I couldn't even fathom how long the food would take to come out. The only reason I am giving this place even 2 stars is because the atmosphere is very nice and the menu looks delicious, I hope to try this place again sometime and hopefully I will receive better service. EDIT: After posting this review I got a message from the manager who offered to make it up to me. She told me that the waiter was new and she had gotten a talking to and they wanted to invite me back with a voucher. I went back, collected my voucher and had some dinner. The service was better, not super speedy but what I would expect. I ordered the filet minon, cooked to medium rare, it was very juicy and tender but cooked more to medium than med-rare as I ordered it. The fries were delicious though and very crispy but the veggies side that came with it consisted of only 4 large broccoli florets, I would have appreciated some more broccoli.
I liked it and the food was fine. The food really isn't something I must rave over. The decor is cute and fun. The wait staff is cool. NOT DOG FRIENDLY. my puppers was in his carrier bag the whole time and then he got agitated over something and let put a singular bark. We had to leave.
I had grilled chicken,it was delicious. Apple hard cider was very refreshing, not too sweet. Don't order the pizza unless you go with a kid that has to have pizza. Service a little slow but server was very pleasant. I would definitely go back.
It's the same, good old Bacchus it has always been. I had not visited for a couple years for no particular reason, and I had heard it had gone downhill. But we went in and four people ordered different meals and we were all pleased. The carbonara fettuccine with smoked chicken was especially good. Service was prompt and friendly.
Have been here a few times for lunch/dinner. It's a rather simple menu of food options but everything I've tried has been delish - burgers, cheese steaks, pulled pork sandwich. Love the sweet potato fries in place of regular fries. My only complaint here is that the service can be slow at times, though part of the reason for that could be staffing issues. Food always comes out hot and fresh.
Nothing perfect. But that said after waiting hours in the sun up the road and almost getting heat stroke... (Not the establishment related hence not it's fault to be clear) that was a great burger and the bartender was great dealing with people to crispy to think straight. Not only recommend can't wait to go back to not only have the burger to my self instead of splitting it with the misses...lol.. but I really can't wait to play some pool.
This place was really awesome, I would definitely go again, the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of speed of service. Even with that though I hit a Tuesday dinner rush and there only seemed to be one waitress on duty so I don't really hold the speed of service as her fault. Food was fantastic and there was good selections, some vegetarian options also gluten free options. All in all I'd recommend going here, I know I'll be back.
Excellent beer selection, friendly staff, eclectic but welcoming environment. Food took a while to come out and the curry bowl was a bit under seasoned. Overall the menu has a nice variety including vegetarian and vegan options.
I've eaten here three times when I've gone to New Paltz to hike. I have always really enjoyed what I've had for lunch and yesterday was no different. I ordered the chickpea Rice bowl and ask for them to add goat cheese to it. It was so good. The servers are always very pleasant and accommodating. I will definitely go back
I really never knew they had a pool hall area. Had a great time with friends. Drinks were good. I recommend the hard cider (The Downeast) it's a tight place though, especially when live music comes into the joint so prepare to get to know some people. Bit it's a pretty chill place and not that expensive, considering I had a pizza and some alcohol with friends there.
We came here for lunch during the week so got a different experience as it was pretty empty. Staff was amazing and the smash burger was pretty good. They're gluten free options were limited to salads.
Nice spot for pool, beers, etc. Service is excellent.
The food is great! I think it is reasonably priced, the drinks just feel a little inconsistent. There are great drag shows almost every weekend, and have a ton of pool tables to choose from! Expect a rather loud dining / or drinking experience- I also can’t really imagine having a family w kids here.
This is a super cool-looking place. The decorations are rustic and hip and cozy. The guacamole was tasty and had just a hint of spice. The Mac and cheese is gooey and good. They have paper straws. That's a positive for many (save the turtles, blah blah blah) but I really, really, really hate paper straws. There are other biodegradable alternatives that aren't nearly as awful as drinking out of paper.
My BF and I have been here quite often during our stay in New Paltz last 3 months. It's a fun place to hangout, have a couple of drinks and play pool. There are standard and smaller pool tables available. Wish they had some music playing or even get a TouchTunes. Service was great!
Food was very good. Server was friendly and attentive. We were one of three tables upon arrival, but then it was just us when we ordered. Food (crab cake sandwich and buffalo chicken sandwich) took some time to come out and the appetizer (nachos)came out with the main meal.
First time but would definitely go elsewhere next time. Staff was friendly but the food was lacking. Got the Maine lobster bisque to start. Tasted like canned soup with no actual lobster bits. Was very disappointing for a $13 soup. Also ordered the Maryland crab cake, which was pretty decent. Side note that the bathroom were atrocious. I walked in and the one toilet had throw up and pee in it. The lady in the next stall came out and joked about how the bathroom needed a total renovation and was reminding her of a nyc dive bar bathroom. I’d have to agree. All and all I was unfortunately disappointed and would recommend checking out all of the other options around town if looking for quality food. If looking to just drink beer- I’d say it fits the bill. Pretty good beer menu.
Been coming here for 50 years. Can’t go wrong with the beer list but certainly can with the food. I remember it being a lot better. The calamari appetizer was such that you could not slice the tubes any thinner. No meat just breading. And the grilled chicken over linguini.....no taste. I took a couple bites and packed the rest to take home to put some of my own sauce on it. I don’t like to say something to the waitress as other people were within earshot and it’s embarrassing. But just to know until word gets out that they’ve got a new chef, probably won’t go back.
Have to tell you, we went here a few years ago and loved it. Went here this past Wednesday and were extremely disappointed in the food. First off the bar was sticky. The burger I got kept me awake all night. The fries were cold. My wife’s dinner was over cooked. What used to be a good place went downhill. The server was great. Food…….. not so much
Limited food options but "unlimited" beverages list. New York Stake was listed in the menu but was unavailable. Fish and chips tested OK. The service was nice.
Smelled like moldy towel and they set us up at a smaller pool table. Would’ve got 4* if I got a standard sized table. Drinks were amazing!
The food was terrible, the menu is much smaller than it used to be. The bathrooms disgusting, and they didn't seem to have any other staff on hand besides the wait staff and cook. I hope they get their act together again soon because I used to love going to this place.
My first time here. Glad my expectations were low. Non-alcoholic drinks were not good. Ketchup tasted rancid. Hair in three of our four dishes. Wait staff was more attentive to their smartphones than customers. Fries were good. Chicken in the tacos was good. Greasy grilled cheese. Flavorless rice and beans. Vegan chili was tasty but vegan curry lacked flavor. Cool vibe but could use a dusting. I’m sure it’s great for drinks and music though
Staff was wonderful! Friendly and attentive. DO NOT USE THE LADIES ROOM. Feces floating in the toilets, water damaged ceiling complete with missing ceiling tiles and a rather large spider population. Dirty sink, broken paper towel holder. It feels like the owners have given up. But, the bartender and our waitress were flawless.
Food wasn't good at all. The chicken quesadilla, pulled pork sandwich was the worst thing I've ever tasted. Lobster bisque was good but it looked like something out of a can that was heated in a microwave(I'm sure they're not the only restaurant that does this), but it was obvious. They do have a great selection of beers. Best things about my dinner there were the beer and the tap water. Wait staff was friendly and provided good service.
I’ve been coming here for years as a New Paltz student and alumni and the food has always been amazing. My most recent visit left me incredibly disappointed. The menu has been cut by more than half, including the beer list, which is what they were known for. I spent the entire day hyping up this place for a group of coworkers and friends, only to be presented with mediocre food and limited options. I’m not sure what happened to my once favorite restaurant but I’m sad to say I will never be returning after this experience.
Made reservations since we had 6 people and a stroller and was told everything would be okay. When we got there they had to put together a table in the pool hall area because they had no idea who took my reservations and couldn't accommodate us. It was boiling hot downstairs, bathroom was out of order and the bathroom upstairs was absolutely disgusting. The carpets smelled and our chairs kept getting caught in the gaps in between the pieces of carpet. We got our appetizers and not 5 minutes later got our dinner so everything was on the table together which defeats the purpose of getting appetizers. We got refills once and even though our server was very pleasant and nice we sat with empty glasses. I also thought it was odd that gratuity was added with 5 adults and a kid but that was the least of the problems. There were flies that would not leave us alone and not one time did a manager or anyone come down to us to offer their apologies or ask how we were doing considering it was obvious they screwed up and we weren't happy down there. The food was mediocre at best for the price but the hard cider I got and the beers my family got were good. I recommend coming here if u want drinks and maybe a light appetizer with one or two people but definitely not with more and I will not be returning. There are a lot of other places around the same area that have great beers great food great service.
I was here with my wife and my friend. I had coconut shrimp which was pretty good and Chilli with beef which was very disappointing, the menu promised a classic chilli bowl, I got a bowl which was half filled with rice on top one tablespoon of ground beef and half a can of beans on top. The whole thing then was covered with a thick layer of melted cheese. Since the whole thing was burning hot my guess is it was heated in the microwave. I would not have ordered this if the menu would have advertised rice. I left like 90% in the bowl, the waiter cleared the table like it is normal to return the food almost untouched. Sorry but I really didn't like it. My friend had Fish and chips, fish was not crispy and stale. My wife had Pasta Alfredo which was okay and after that Apple pie with ice cream which was okay except the spoon which came with it had a 1 cent big blackish food trace on it. After we all stared at the spoon the waiter recognized it and brought a fresh one. With the check another surprise was waiting for us, there was a surcharge applied for paying with credit. While this is legal in New York it would have been nice to mention that on the menu. Overall the performance was disappointing. Credits for the humorous waiter.
Had to wait AN HOUR for our meal after we ordered it! Totally unacceptable! Not a reflection on the waitress, though. She was very good. She said they were short-staffed in kitchen. Bathrooms are pigsties. Have been there is the past but won’t be going back.
They don't have much of a draft beer selection. I ordered their steak for $22 I asked for rare and got medium well, not much chance as the steak was 1/8 inch thick and not very good. The bartender and waitress like to complain about their employer and play on their phones or watch tv as opposed to dealing with custmers. They did have a decent local straight whiskey so that's why the 2 stars instead of one. I will not be back and I would suggest trying somewhere else.
Staff is nice and friendly, but seemed overwhelmed. Service was not great — forgot about us multiple times, waited an hour after being seated to finally get our food, they forgot the silverware which we eventually just had to get up and get ourselves, and no one checked on us after the food was served. We didn’t expect the food to be amazing, it was fine — very basic but not terrible. However, all things considered, definitely wouldn’t recommend coming here for the food / restaurant. Maybe it’s a better experience at the bar.
My first time here and the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at a bar. The staff here is the most unprofessional, snobby and rude people i have ever met. The guy Dave at the bar was extremely rude and stared me down as i finally left. After waiting at the bar watching all of them talk amongst themselves i was finally helped after 7 minutes. Then Dave decided to ‘help’ after struggling to get someone’s attention was standoffish when i asked for chicken tenders, Dave rolled his eyes and aggressively grabbed the menu, slapped it down on the counter and then went through it to point out that they don’t have it on the menu. Later on in the night i asked the pink haired girl just out of curiosity and they did have them which i stupidly ordered. So not only did they have them on the menu but the whole interaction was meaningless and ruined the vibe of the whole night. When i tried to ask for names for this post they told me no and the girl at the door grabbed my arm and aggressively asked if I’m trying to start a problem when i was just calmly asking for names. (I got his name when a friend who was still at the bar after I left asked him directly) All in all i should’ve never came to this establishment and absolutely should not have bought the chicken and given them any of my money. Hopefully if it’s your first time going you have a better experience than i do.
A horrible place for gprroe service. Don't go if you're hungry. It'll be hours until you get your food. The woman working behind the bar has no regard and or care for service and should be fired. She messed up 4 times but kept blaming it on someone else. Don't go here it's a waste of money!!!!!!! If I could give a negative amt of stars I would!!!!
The place itself is nice. A very chill vibe. However everything else is lack luster. A Tuesday night and the service well actually lack of service is appalling. Yes there was an event being held upstairs but anyone else in the place suffered because of it. It took 20 minutes for our server to greet us. We took the opportunity to order everything at once. It didn't take us to long to decide on what to eat due to the very small and limited menu. The food was ok but nothing to write home about. It took another 15 minutes to get our drinks ( 1 soda and 1 cider). Well you see how this is going. This place is more pool hall focused. If I return it will be to play some pool. As to when that will be who knows. All in all it took 2 hours for 2 people to be served just 2 drinks, 1 quesidilla, 1 salad and 1 vegan burger. Next time I will get sushi
The service was terrible! They told us to sit and they'd be out. We arrived at 6 and our waitress acknowledged us at 615. Then she took 15 minutes to let us know she was out of 3 different cider options. We ordered all at once at 630. At 715 we got our fried calamari. It was standard. She has barely come to our table. We are still waiting for our meal at 730. It became apparent that they didn't know our order when they asked what we got so we tried to close out bill for just the calamari and 1 cider.....that was an ordeal, too. They thought we were crazy for wanting to leave after 1.5 hrs, no meal and they still didn't know what we put in. Then they had an attitude. ..... we went to McGillicuddy's down the block and sat right at the bar, were served right away and were greeted personally by the owner, Brian. A good ending to a rough start.
Does not serve Black people kind of vibe Bartender (purple hair, piercings, tattoos) made several orders of people who came in after us or around us while not even saying hello, acknowledging presence, and really just floating over us. Ignored entirely by every staff member. Would’ve been nice to stay for a drink at a place that seeming seems inclusive and friendly to all (drag brunch and pride flyers in the door), but what an incredibly rude experience.
Absolutely horrible experience here. Walked in at 5:30 on a Saturday and couldn’t have regretted it more. The bartender served our drinks and then went upstairs and disappeared for 10 minutes. There were MULTIPLE tables complaining about their food not coming in a reasonable amount of time. I witnessed with my own eyes, two separate parties of 4 that got up and left because they never received their food. We ordered Spinach and Artichoke Dip which is EXTREMELY easy to prepare and never received it after waiting for over 30 mins. Would NOT recommend eating here during busy peak hour, as it was a terrible experience for me and many others.
Tldr: Great onion rings and sauce. Everything else was awful. Very sad. For some reason, the service was awful. The place did not look busy but we waited a long time to get anything. Took a while to get our order taken. We didn't even get plates and utensils until after we got our food. Our waitress kept ignoring us but we stayed polite and kind to her. Very weird behavior. Appetizers: spinach and artichoke was good but it only came with 10 small tortilla chips. So we used big scoops but still had 66 percent of the dip left over. We asked for more chips and were told no. This is what I am most upset about. How dare you serve a dip with only ten measly chips for 4 people. The sampler platter was decent all around. The onion rings were some of the best onion rings I've had and the reason I gave the food a 2 instead of a 1. Entrees: Both burgers we got were inedible. They were way over cooked and burnt. Quesadilla was cold and the cheese tasted sour. Fish and chips was the only good entree. Well seasoned and fried. Bathroom: Mens bathroom the toilet was leaking. Upon flushing water gushed out and ruined my sneakers.
Really bad service. We were a party of 5. Place was not even half full. Waitress had a very lazy 'who cares' attitude. Food all came out at different times. Waited an hour for one of the meals. Then, the waitress automatically added a 20% tip to the bill. We were all in a good mood, made the best of it. Lousy, inconsiderate, insulting service.
I have been going here for over a decade & always loved it. Went there yesterday and I have to say I was very disappointed. They completely change the menu, and took off many of their staples. The Lobster bisque was supposed to have chunks of lobster in it, there was none and it looked like it came out of a can and it was $13. The tomato and fresh mozzarella appetizer was not good at all. My companion had an alcoholic drink with seltzer in it, and the seltzer was flat. My beer was warm. The service was good. I just hope they can straighten everything out and get it back to the way used to be. We always loved the place
This place should be called “Bogus” instead of Bacchus. Brought me some sour beer when I ordered a cider. Said it wasn’t the right one and server said it was. Finally once I got menu and showed her she agreed. 15 minutes after taking our order came back and said that the kitchen is all out of cuban sandwich. Why not know that right away? We had to wait for everything to be done for any food to come out which was after other tables seated well after us had already finished eating. So many great places in New Paltz. No need to waste your money here. Food was fine. Nothing stood out.
Don’t bother even coming after 9:30pm if don’t look at least 30 years old. No matter if you have an ID that shows that you are 21+, they will deny entry just because they can and claim “I don’t make the rules”. Please invest in a scanner! It is 2024. Human error and bias is a huge problem here. Also do not depend on the google reviews. The Yelp reviews are more accurate and shows the real rating which is pretty low.
If I could this a negative star for the experience then I would. Came in on a Saturday around 5:30ish. We had the “acting manager” behind the bar and I wasn’t impressed at all. Having warm beers on tap, ordering boneless wings for them to be chicken tenders, and being ignored for about 25 mins when trying to get our check and to go boxes. Waitress at the end of the bar just watching the “acting manager” attend to only one side of the bar instead of helping as well. The atmosphere was nice, but the overall service was terrible. Not worth your money when you’re going to be treated this way.
My girlfriend ordered one of the vegan dishes (buffalo seitan wrap) and as someone who has eaten both chicken and seitan numerous times, I am fairly certain she was served chicken. Service was fine, except for the fact that I overheard staff talking about my girlfriend while she was in the restroom because she questioned whether or not the dish she was served contained animal products; quite unprofessional. Also, there is a trough in the men's room, which made me feel as though I was at Giant's Stadium in 1983.
We got there around 545 pm, there were 3 or 4 tables with 3 tables of pool going on. 3 servers that I saw, after ordering, we wait 10-15 minutes to be told they were out of pizza dough for their special (what my wife ordered). Then, another 10 ish minutes, the server comes back to take her order again. Then we're waiting and waiting. Finally, her order of salad and tots came out (luke warm like they were sitting in the back and told our server, nothing). We asked the runner about my food,(still hadn't come). She goes and checks and tells our server they didn't have my order. I see them talking. I see him put it back in. We get 1 sorry there was a mess up with the ticket should be quick. Waiting again, so I go up to him and ask for it to go and for our check. I pay and still waiting. We drank our drinks, a beer, a mixed drink and the bottle of water they give you. Our server never asked if we wanted refills of any of it. They had a big group upstairs but they came after us, so there should not have been an issue. One woman told a couple as we were finally leaving (after an hour there and just getting my food) that they had a party and the wait would be a little bit for food.
This place has horrible food. Just get drinks. I mean the worst food and our bill was more expensive than our average enjoyable meal. The atmosphere is amazing. The staff were kind. But the food was atrocious. I cannot stress this enough. That's why I made this review. Do not eat here unless you're totally wasted.
6 for lunch and 4 of us feeling sick after. Food was bad. After receiving menus, waiting, ordering drinks, waiting, informed 2 drinks were not available, waiting, receiving drinks, waiting, when attempting to order we were told they lacked ingredients for most of our selections. We ordered from what they had but then received one incorrect entree and one side was missing. Too expensive for the low quality and included gratuity was an insult after apathetic service. Past reviews seemed positive but it seemed that now none of the staff or management care about quality.
We stopped by Saturday early afternoon after a lovely campus tour at Suny New Paltz. It was not crowded so we thought we made a good choice. The apps and drinks came out fairly quickly. But then we waiting more than 45mins for the entrees. A couple and family after us received their food before us. The server was nice enough but not attentive and practically disappeared. Finally I got up to go the bar to get the bill and cancel the rest of the order. The food then comes out but we were all frustrated wasting nearly 2 hours on a beautiful day and we just wanted to leave. We got one sorry like this has happened before, the server who brought out the food look very pissed with us and we don't know what happen to our missing waitress so we paid the bill and left.
