Opinions de Leyla New York
This coffee shop has the friendliest barista you will ever encounter! pleasant tone voice, polite and just exudes kindness! this was a lovely start of the visit. aside from that, we had very delicious coffee. Hubster’s oatmilk latte was perfect. Im also not a “fruity” syrup lover but their White Chocolate Raspberry latte special was a nice treat! Inside has a nice cozy seating with both regular tables and bar chairs by the window. There are also a few seatings outdoors. love that we got a free drink when we brought a box of their coffee beans! thank you for the wonderful visit. (Feb2026)
Delicious coffee from a small and popular city chain. The drip coffee here is great, I’m excited to try some of their other drinks.
Our favorite neighborhood spot. The baristas are great - super friendly and have been there forever - which makes Black Press Coffee feel like a real part of the community. The coffee and pastries are always top notch. We love this place. Nothing beats a Saturday morning cold brew and donut on a hot day after a run in Central Park
I LOVED the coffee in this place. There is something so special about drip coffee. It is rich and bold, bursting with flavor. Black Press gets a lot of business traffic, and in true NY fashion- everything moves quickly. The staff are friendly and great at what they do. I highly recommend.
Great coffee for a very small place. I loved it and it was very smooth and tasteful. Edit: Went there one year later and it’s still good. Got the espresso this time and it was delicious. I will keep going any time I am in the City.
Good coffee. Nice selection. Fair prices. Serving sizes are on smaller sizes so its not possible to get “large”. Cute place and good location.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This place deserves every bit of 5 stars! The matcha here is absolutely perfect – smooth, rich, and not too sweet. You can really taste the quality, and it’s easily one of the best I’ve had ! On top of the amazing drinks, I have to give a huge shoutout to the staff for being so kind and honest. I accidentally left my purse behind while I was running around the city, and they held onto it for me until I came back, completely panicked. They were so kind and reassuring when I finally returned – it truly meant so much to me. Delicious matcha + genuinely good people = a business I’ll always support! 💚
Excellent drip coffee Highly recommend Employees are amazing and super friendly
good vibes and solid cup of coffee. study tables are small but works. lovely atmosphere with good music and the staff and the lights and plants really liven up the space. love the full wall of windows to get lots of light. the baked good look super good too but need to go back to try them.
The maple latte was fantastic with oat milk! Black Press is a fun shop to relax in or outside, and the neighborhood is great to walk around in with your coffee. The staff are very friendly as well.
Stopped by at this place for a latte on a sunny spring day. I used to live in NYC a while back and I remember that finding good coffee was a really hard task. So great to have these small coffee shops with really good high-quality coffee finally popping up in the city. I ordered a latte and my wife got an iced latte, and both were perfect. You can tell from the aroma of the coffee that the people here love coffee and really know what they're doing!
Good coffee. Great service. Nice to be here on a sunny afternoon. They’ve got benches on the side of the street and the surrounding environment felt cozy. Most importantly, a fellow customer kicked the iced latte I left on the ground and the staff was nice enough to make me a new one for free. That was a very kind gesture. Loved it.
I’ve been here multiple times and it’s always a great visit. I love their oatmilk lattes and I got to try the rose syrup the last time I went. Service is always fast and easy. Not much seating but with the nice weather you can walk over to Central Park.
Bought pumpkin loaf on our last day to enjoy on the way to the airport, and it was absolutely delicious. If we’d discovered it earlier, we definitely would have bought more. The staff working on New Year’s Day were incredibly friendly, too.
This is hands down the best coffee shop in the neighborhood. Every coffee that I have gotten has been superb and the prices are extremely fair. The highlight, though, is the staff (shoutout Jalyn, Anna and Audrey but everyone is amazing!!). They are so kind and, in a city where not too many people take the time to chat, they clearly care about the people that come into the store and have built a wonderful community. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!
Honestly, don't remember the last time I was treated to such wonderful food and hospitality! Everything was delicious, but standouts were the grilled octopus and the branzino. The service was thoughtful and attentive and Leyla was the perfect pre-concert dinner. Definitely save room for dessert!
We tried the Cheese Pide, Lamp Burger, and Keft, all were great dishes. The service and atmosphere were very nice as well. It’s also well priced but the portions are a bit small.
A true hidden gem close to Central Park. We stopped by for lunch on Sunday. Their Lahmacun and cheese pide was amazing! The truffle honey on the pide was a great addition. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. He seated us quickly and provided us with a great window seat. Must try spot in NYC for elegant Turkish cuisine.
The service and food at Leyla's are equally spectacular! We were warmly greeted by the host and, during the meal, enjoyed our excellent service by all the staff. The food is very good, and we especially enjoyed the portions, which were neither too big nor too small. The restaurant also has a very nice feel to it, the kind of place were you want to hang out and enjoy good food with good company. Highly recommended!
I am writing this so I don’t forget!! (still here about to see Sarah Mclachlan) We were lucky yo have Emily who is adorable! The food was just delicious From the Greek Salad (OMG) and the Muhammara to the Pide appetizer s the ambience the whole vibe AMAZING- Will def be back EAT HERE just indulge and have the baklava. It’s the best.
Had an amazing dinner at Leyla, authentic Turkish food, superb service, and a cozy atmosphere. Our server Sultan made great recommendations and was very attentive. The highlight was the Pistachio Mud Heaven dessert, absolutely a must as well as greek salad, pide and Turkish coffee. Everything from start to finish felt fresh, genuine and delicious.
Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try Leyla! Beautiful, cozy, romantic vibes with plenty of seating, comfy chairs, and cute decor. Very friendly and quick waitstaff too. They do a fabulous happy hour deal - 3 dips and a drink for $25 🤯 Had the spinach yorma, muhammara, and atom - all three were great, but the standout was definitely the muhammara; the atom had a nice kick to it too. Ordered a glass of Turkish red wine as a part of the deal. We also got the 3 Cheese Pide - SO good! Lovely bit of truffle taste, delightful light crunchiness, and the cheese mix was superb. The chicken sandwich was good too, but the fries were excellent. Can’t wait to come back!
We stumbled upon this spot after a quaint afternoon visit to Central Park. Note you'll probably need a reservation because all the indoor seating was already full at 5:30pm. The outdoor section was great though, arguably better. Three cheese vide was spectacular and so was this pan seared salmon. Really good portion size and a pretty unique garlic butter mashed potato side too. The lamb shank was also divine, I ended up finishing my friend's portion. A great way to end off Easter Sunday.
Visited Leyla with my family and had a wonderful time. From the moment we walked in, the staff was attentive and friendly, making us feel welcomed. The prices are reasonable, and their happy hour is the best in the UWS. We enjoyed Shakshuka, Atom, Humus, Fava Bean Bruschetta, and Kataifi Fritters – all of which were delicious! The fresh desserts, including Baklava, maras dondurma (mastic ice cream), and a special treat of profiterol, were a hit. We were impressed with the exceptional service and delicious food. Highly recommend Leyla!!!
Excellent food and excellent service. I haven’t eaten at a Turkish restaurant before and this was just an all around great experience. Service was excellent. I believe we had the manager as our waiter and he was so friendly so nice and so informative. Explained to us what he liked from his country (Turkey) and all his recommendations were excellent. Every dish was delicious and the Turkish ice cream was different and excellent, it’s extra gooey. Highly recommend a visit. Such a beautiful space.
The honey cinnamon latte here was delicious! It wasn’t too sweet, and it balanced perfectly with the beans. However, it is a small cafe with limited seating, so probably plan to take your drink to go If you like your lattes sweeter, the employee recommended to try the salted caramel :)
Nice coffee shop! Coffee smell was so good that we went back and ordered coffee. Fresh coffee. Decor is nice. There was no seat so we took it to go.
I went alone for a relaxed dinner before the opera on a Saturday evening, choosing to sit at the bar. The bar service was friendly and attentive. I think I could evaluate the experience more accurately on a weekday, as Saturday early evening is typically a busy time for this restaurant. The food was good, and the Turkish beer was superb.
Not the best-run restaurant on the UWS, but the back garden is pretty and the food is excellent. Friends told us to order the pide (Turkish flat bread), which we did--truly good Vegetarian Pide, Vegetarian Manti, Zuchini salad, and Falafel. Poor service--the waiter kept looking at his phone and disappearing. It was a lovely evening so we were happy to sit in the garden while he forgot about us. But we felt bad for the crowd of people outside waiting to come in.
Leyla offers a cozy and authentic Turkish dining experience. The warm atmosphere, with soft Turkish music playing in the background, made our visit even more enjoyable. The service was excellent—our server was very attentive and helpful with all our questions. We tried the muhammara, Brussels sprout & mandarin salad, hazelnut lahmacun, spinach yarma, kataifi zucchini fritters, sütlaç, and tahini pide. Everything was delicious! Just a heads-up—the lahmacun is made with lamb, as are most of the main dishes. Also, having a nice cup of tea was a treat—I really missed that! While most dishes were delightful, I found the dough of the tahini pide a bit firm and bland; however, the tahini and walnut flavors compensated for it. The sütlaç, enhanced with raspberries, was light and enjoyable—I loved it! Overall, a lovely spot for a warm and flavorful meal. Definitely worth checking out!
Started off not too strong with a mishap with our reservation. They ended up seating us but after 20 minutes of frustration and misunderstandings. They compensated by bringing us a complimentary spinach yarma that was honestly very good. Lamb shank stole the show, and the cheese pide was perfect. Overall we ended up having a good experience, and for the price we payed we left happy.
Paid $4.25 + $1 tip for a drip coffee. I drink gas station and deli coffee and I’m not particularly picky, but I actually do know a good amount about coffee on the high end as well. This is the worst drip coffee I have ever had in my life - full stop. Tasted like dishwater and even smelled weird. I have never had drip coffee with a flavor so far away from any other coffee I have ever had. I thought mine was an anomaly but my 4 friends all had the same disgusting drip coffee. Never again.
Flavorless coffee and rude barista. The person at the register was very nice, but ordered a honey cinnamon latte and asked if it was syrup and the person at the register said yes so I asked for less sweet. When I got it the latte was completely flavorless and bitter (I’ve gotten from here before so I should have known better), so I asked the barista to add more syrup and she said “we don’t add syrup” but grabbed a squirt bottle and just squirted some in my drink clearly annoyed (some even squirted out almost on me). Never again.
I’m not sure if the barista was having a bad day, but my experience was disappointing. He was rude, and when he handed me my coffee, he placed it on the counter with enough force that some of the coffee spilled onto the counter and my cup. There was no apology or acknowledgment. What stood out to me most was that the customer immediately after me was treated much more kindly, which made the interaction feel uncomfortable. I’ve been a loyal customer for a long time since I work in the area, and this just wasn’t the level of service I’m used to or expect.
