Opinions de Nomad Tea Parlour New York
We had an all around great dinner. Four of us shared more than we could eat but every dish was tasty, and attractive. Just the right amount of flavor and spice. Beautiful setting. Highly recommend, will be coming back.
Great ambience, service, and we thoroughly enjoyed every dish we had, including the cocktails.
Delicious food and great service! The flavors are authentic, and the dishes are always fresh. Highly recommend if you’re looking for real Chinese cuisine.
The walnut shrimp was insanely good. The ice cream is pretty good, I dont normally like coffee flavored ice cream, but it was deffo worth it. Loved the crispy chili beef. The grandmas beef broth was lovely as well, very tender beef. General tso chicken was alright, definitely a step up to regular chinese takeaway spots spots. Our server was great as well, lovely energy. Seriously though, that walnut shrimp was really good.
Came for happy hour. Erik was great. Food was good. Drinks tasty
Amazing authentic food and drinks in a very nice atmosphere. The Dan Dan noodles and beef soup were especially spectacular. The owner was super kind and the service was great. There’s still so much left of the menu we haven’t explored but we will definitely be back soon!
Food was really good. Highly recommended the Dan Dan noodles and using the oil from the wonton soup to mix it up. Really good combo and amazing flavor. Cool looking place too.
Super cute interior. We sat at the bar which was very comfortable. So many amazing dishes to choose from but we had the Dan Dan noodles, truffle chicken soup dumplings and chili crisp beef. It was all really good although the beef could have been spicer it was a little too sweet. Highly recommend - we will definitely be back. Great addition to the neighborhood.
Been multiple times, the food and cocktails have both been top tier consistently. The Salty Boi is one of the neatest cocktails on any menu right now. Food wise the dan dan noodles and the soup dumplings are must orders for me every time (but everything I’ve tried is good-to-great)
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nomad Tea Parlor, and it was an experience to remember! The drinks are nothing short of AMAZING, each crafted with care and presented beautifully. The attention to detail in every drink truly elevates the experience. The appetizers were equally wonderful, offering a delightful range of flavors that perfectly complemented our beverages. The high-end, attentive service made us feel truly special throughout our visit. Bobby, our bartender, did an outstanding job of suggesting diverse and tasty apps with the right drinks and showed us the space. Matthew, the manager, greeted us with a fantastic overview of the unique concept behind the space which added depth to our experience for the start. Angel brought an extra layer of warmth and charm to our evening, regaling us with engaging stories and infectious positive energy. The ambiance of Nomad Tea Parlor is enchanting, transporting you to another time and place. Best Jasmine tea in the city!!! It’s the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy a unique night out. I can’t recommend this place highly enough—definitely a must-visit!
My wife and I just had an awesome meal here and we're already planning to return during our 7-day stay in NYC. The space is very cool and the ambiance is spot-on with a hong kong type vibe. The have a nice long bar (we loev to eat at bars instead of tables), the staff are super friendly and the food is delicious! We had the chilled cucumber salad in a very tasty sauce of chili, sesame oil, garlic and soy; the forest (mushroom) dumplings; and our fave were the dan dan noodles, minced pork in a great spicy peanut sauce. The menu has so much to offer and everything looks good. Go! (sorry no pix...)
Came here last night for dinner, really enjoyed our meal and service was excellent. Atmosphere was really cool and super clean. It’s a little gem in the Flatiron. Also they were playing great old school hip hop tunes! I’ll def be back !
The atmosphere and food here is amazing, such an innovative concept!! Had a wonderful time dining with friends and family here, the crispy shrimp was so delicious. You also have to try their custom ice cream flavor, which was an amazing way to end the dinner
Such a fun place! We stopped by without a reservation and they were so nice about accommodating us. We loved the decor, super cute! Food was great and the drinks were amazing. Definitely come for the cocktails, like the lychee martini and the coffee one with foam on top. We both thought the shrimp with walnuts was the best dish. The dan dan noodles were also great. Wow to the ice cream! Too bad we were only visiting the city, and can't come back again to try more food. Next time we visit nyc!
When you walk in it looks like pranakhan in union square. The back feels like mala project in east village. Ambiance fits a hk tea parlor and the menu really resembles that of red sorghum, blue willow, ye apothecary. Food is solid and executed very well. A tad salty so be sure to order white rice. Nothing amazing but def hits the Cantonese food spot without having to trek to Chinatown.
Went in for happy hour. Excellent food! The best thing I had my trip here — get the dumplings! Very good cocktails. Incredibly friendly staff. Very cute atmosphere.
Went to Nomad Tea Parlour for a date night… and honestly, this place was fantastic! The food was super flavorful and delicious, and the staff and owner were kind, super attentive, and wanted customers to have the best experience. The menu was large, so this is a place I will be coming back to! Which is saying something considering I tend not to repeat restaurants. This place is worth a visit!
Stumbled on this GEM December of 2024. My first trip to NYC with my cousin that lives on the east coast. Amazing FOOD AND STAFF. Thank you Nomad Tea Parlour for wonderful Memories.
Best beef broth noodle soup I’ve had after sampling similar dishes across 37 countries. The soup alone is worth a stop.
We had a great time at Nomad shortly after they opened. Loved the decor and Hong Kong feel. Our favorite dishes were the crispy chili beef, lychee shrimp, and chicken truffle soup dumplings. We also had the duck and Dan Dan noodles which were good but not our favorite. It was a great experience though just a bit loud in there, but expected for a Friday night. The yuenyeung ice cream at the end was amazing and tasted just like the drink. Unlike any other ice cream we’ve had. Strongly recommend you stop by!
An unique addition to the Nomad area! Great for small or large groups. Appreciate the design elements of the space and love the vibes. The cocktails here are well-crafted and the dishes are delicious! Some of my favorites (all pictured) are the chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, black truffle rice cakes, Gai Bao chicken, grandma’s beef noodle soup, and stuffed squid.
Nomad Tea Parlour recently openedin Manhattan serving exquisite Cantonese American stylecuisine ina sleek, stylish, traditional yet modern setting that looks like it came out of an old-school Hong Kong movie. Staffs inside are very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We were seated next to the bar in a modern yet traditional looking booth with classic decorations on the table. Order a pot of tea and get refreshed while you enjoy different appetizers and entrees you won’t find elsewhere. They are uniquely prepared and presented on a classic plate. Real crab inside crab rangoon, deliciously made takeout chicken wings that does not taste like takeout, chicken that sizzles in a pot with a beautiful aroma, just to name a few. They also have many different cocktails but decided to chill on alcohol today so let me know how it tastes like when you go. Conveniently make your reservation on Resy and check out Nomad Tea Parlour!
Some of the best hospitality I’ve experienced in New York. I checked in for my reservation and the waitress Dani noticed that I had lost my voice. She offered complimentary tea and ginger as soon as I sat down, so thoughtful and personal. The food and ambiance was also great, but the service is what sets this place apart.
I don’t even know where to begin … this place was beyond amazing. You walk in and you’re greeted with this stunning decor that makes you feel like you’re in streets of Hong Kong! The drinks were phenomenal my favorite was the just a lychee martini, DANGEROUSLY delicious. The food was fantastic and flavored so well my favorite was the Dan Dan noodles and the grandmas beef noodles soup (so comforting and the meat was insanely tender). I feel in love with this place and atmosphere and can’t wait to try it again
Stopped in for a nice evening touch base with a friend. We sat at the bar (great seating) and were immediately impressed with the staff. They were very welcoming & trendy. The atmosphere is awesome. It does give off alley cafe vibes that you experience in Hong Kong or Singapore. The food was awesome...especially the cauliflower steaks we had. Drinks were equally amazing and standard Manhattan pricing ($20~). The menu is not huge, which is perfect for me because I prefer curated vs engrossing. I will be coming back here for sure!
We had the best experience here tonight, this has become my new favorite spot. We got the cucumber salad (perfection), forest dumplings, har gow, duck fried rice (insanely good, with a touch of a curry taste and a fried egg ugh so good), and the night market chicken pot. Everything was incredible and Dani took such good care of us. To top it off we had the coffee ice cream… truly a perfect meal. Loved every bite, can’t wait to come back.
Looking for a unique dining experience in New York? Let me take you to Nomad Tea Parlour! I went for dinner, and everything was perfect. The service? Absolutely top-notch. The food? Exquisite, next level! My must-try recommendations: the Walnut Shrimp and the Crab Rangoon—total game-changers. And whatever you do, don’t skip dessert. Their Yueng Yueng (green tea and coffee ice cream) is a masterpiece. Trust me, this spot is worth adding to your list!
Loved the interior & high seats! We started off with a Pineapple Cake Cocktail, which didn’t really taste like pineapple cake or even pineapple but still had a good fruity taste. For food, we ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, Grandma’s Beef Noodle Soup, and Chinatown Fritto Misto. We loved the dan dan noodles & beef noodle soup, both were flavorful and delicious! Beef in the noodle soup was super tender & sauce in the dan dan noodles was really good. I clearly didn’t know what fritto misto was when I ordered it because I didn’t expect fries under the fried seafood. The fried seafood was good, but I think something other than fries would’ve been better for me. The highlight of the meal has got to be the Yuenyeung Ice Cream though. It was creamy and had the perfect amount of coffee—it was so delicious! I would totally come back to try their other dishes!
I’m usually a bit skeptical about fancy cantonese spots, since the traditional ones feel more authentic and affordable. But I’ve been telling my friends how much I loved the clay pot rice and yuen yeung ice cream here! While they position themselves as cantonese american, the food menu is straight up cantonese/chinese to me, with classics like chicken pot, lobster yee mein, and har kow. To my surprise, the prices are actually pretty reasonable, and the place looks elevated with vintage posters and neon signs. *Roast Duck Clay Pot $26 *** Totally blown away by how good this clay pot rice was! Packed with crispy roast duck (燒鴨), chinese sausage (臘腸), cured bacon (臘肉), and quail eggs. So saucy and flavorful. If I had to nitpick, the bottom could’ve been a bit crispier. We shared it among three and still had leftovers for days lol. *Kowloon Black Pepper Beef $28 * First, can someone explain how this relates to “Kowloon” LOL. Despite the mysterious name, we really enjoyed it. The angus beef cubes were tender and saucy, just like an elevated dai pai dong style black pepper beef stir fry. *XO Beef Chow Fun $24 Once again, you can tell the beef is high quality. Though this was more like 濕炒牛河 (“wet” beef chow fun) rather than 乾炒牛河 (“dry” beef chow fun). *Satay Snow Pea Sprouts $19 I couldn’t really taste the satay, but the garlicky flavor and shrimp paste really stood out. I enjoyed this a lot. *Yuen Yeung Ice Cream $9 *** I was most hyped about their 鴛鴦 flavored ice cream, inspired by HK style coffee milk tea and served in the iconic black & white milk tea mug. So nostalgic.
This place is amazing. We ordered the chili wontons, crispy popcorn chicken, soy garlic wings, and the beef pancake and everything was delicious. The drinks were really good too. Very different, very unique, and great for anyone with adventurous tastes. The space itself is super cute with great vibes, and the hospitality is excellent. Prices are fair. Slightly on the higher side, but still absolutely worth it. I honestly don’t know why I hadn’t come here sooner, especially living nearby. This has officially become one of my go-to spots to hang out with friends or come on a date. I’d definitely come back anytime.
Great vibe inside the place I loved the design of it. Mainly came here for the tea but ended up getting something to eat bc the menu sounded great. Tea wise I tried the Plum Oolong, Dragonwell, Caramelized Pear, and Fresh Mint. All of them were incredibly fragrant and so delish but the Dragonwell ended up being my fav despite how peculiar the description sounded. I’m a big fan of teas but ive never had “acorn, pistachio, hay, and squash”. It was very very woodsy and warm, perfect for how sharp the wind was outside. Split the Crispy Chili Beef with a friend and it was actually sooooo good. When they said crispy they MEANT IT. So crunchy even with the sauce on it, although it did say it’d be spicy but I didn’t feel any heat. Special shoutout to the absolutely FIRE playlist they had running because wow I was grooving so hard.
Wow, some of the dishes here were truly outstanding. We ordered the shrimp and noodles - something in that sauce was extremely addictive, would highly highly recommend. I also thought the green beans were very well done, but I’m also just a fan of my vegetables. Everything was solid and the service for 7 people on a Friday night was quite good! I appreciate that they have a collection of classic Chinese dishes (Dan Dan mian, beef noodle soup) as well as some creative twists to the original dishes!
Had a couple of dumplings and a cocktail at the bar — both were good. The bartenders were friendly and attentive, which made for a really pleasant experience overall. Definitely planning to come back soon for a full dinner and drinks experience.
I stumbled upon this spot while waiting for a friend nearby and was genuinely impressed. The interior is adorable, super clean, and has such a cozy vibe. The staff was incredibly attentive, especially the bartender (wish I got her name!) who was super helpful and welcoming. Their happy hour is a steal—running daily from 12 to 7pm with great deals on both drinks and food. The cocktails were delicious, and the overall atmosphere made it such a great find. There’s plenty of indoor seating, and I’m already planning to come back to try the food. Definitely a hidden gem worth checking out!
The food is GOOD! But what I really like is the vibe, whimsical, chic, yet nostalgic. The food is like a pan Chinese food with all the classic, they are delicious but also unmemorable, though the Dan Dan Noodles with peanut sauce is better than average. Yes, the vibe wins.
I had an amazing dining experience at Nomad Tea Parlour in Manhattan! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was absolutely beautiful — cozy, modern, and perfect for a relaxing afternoon meal. I sat in a booth with a perfect view of the restaurant, which really set the vibe. My son and I started with sparkling water and ordered three delicious starters: the crab meat egg rolls, sticky ribs, and General Tso’s chicken. For our entrée, we had the Singapore Duck Fried Rice paired with more General Tso’s chicken — every bite was flavorful and fresh! The service was exceptional — our waiter checked in on us regularly, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. I also enjoyed a soothing mint tea which was the perfect touch to end my meal. Although they have a beautiful bar area, I didn’t indulge in a cocktail this time since it was a Sunday afternoon — but I’ll definitely be back for a Saturday night experience! I also loved that they have a spacious room in the back for larger parties, which makes this a perfect spot for future celebrations. Highly recommend Nomad Tea Parlour for the food, service, and overall experience. I’ll absolutely be back again!
Great atmosphere and delicious food with real wok hei. Loved the lobster yee mein, claypot rice, and black pepper beef. Friendly service and would definitely come back.
I never had such good Chinese food! For sure in NY, this restaurant is one of the best place where to eat with a good price. Dumplings were delicious and the soup.. the soup was AMAZING! Spice, tasty, the meat was soft and good! Really good food quality! Price is honest and well balanced with the dishes! For sure again :)

Mushroom clay pot rice and the chicken soup dumplings were excellent. Some items like tea felt over priced and the seating is a bit tight but overall really good food, decor and service.
If you find yourself roaming NoMad and suddenly need a Canto fix, I suppose Nomad Tea Parlor will suffice. They have done well recreating an old school Hong Kong tea parlor vibe. The service is attentive but not very knowledgeable about the menu. Despite the restaurant being half empty, they sat our party of four in the back room, which is cramped - make sure you ask for a booth in the front. The round tables are so small, that if you order more than 4-5 dishes and a few drinks, you will be doing your best alligator arms impression to eat. Food recap - if you’ve spent any time in Hong Kong or NYC Chinatown, you will be mildly disappointed here, as the portions are small for the prices. But I get it, you’re in Nomad on 5th Ave and the rents are high. The best dish we had was the Hawthorne Braised Pork Belly followed by the milk tea ice cream for dessert. Crab & pork soup dumplings were actually just good pork soup dumplings - where’s the crab? Siu mai, potstickers, cucumber salad, and scallion pancakes were decent. Singapore duck fried rice was a hit except don’t bother paying $5 for an egg on top. Snow pea sprouts and blistered beans were fairly tasty along with Grandma’s beef noodle soup. A real disappointment was the XO rice rolls. Instead of “cheong fun” with proper XO sauce, you get a somewhat dry version of beef “chow fun”. Throw in a couple of drinks and the dinner for four with tip came in just shy of $100 a head. Maybe spend some of that on a taxi and head to Chinatown.
Really great spot with excellent food and service however the first time I came was infinitely better than the second. They changed the sticky ribs I believe, which were the star of the show and we were disappointed as we were really looking forward to them. Bring back the old ones! That said, really creative menu, the drinks are great and the service is very good
Came here on a Saturday @4pm for a late lunch early dinner - but was told that the full menu is only available @5pm so a word of caution to those wanting a meal at an “off time” Service was quite slow even though it wasn’t crowded, and we felt the food was fine, nothing notable, compared to other options in New York. You’re definitely paying for aesthetic and location here. A CUP of hot tea was $6 when usually a pot of tea is complimentary at most Chinese spots. As for food, we got the spicy wontons and har gow from 4-5pm off their dim sum menu, and then for dinner we got blistered beans, clay pot mushroom, and crispy beef. We found everything tasty and well seasoned but pretty oily across the board. It was fun to try a new place but if you’re looking for incredible Chinese food you can find plenty others at a fraction of the cost and hype. Hope this helps someone!
Stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian dumplings were solid — flavorful and well-made. The staff was warm and welcoming, which added to the experience. A great local spot worth keeping in the rotation.
Great food. Would come back again and they have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. Servers are very accommodating and attentive. The only reason why it’s a 4 instead of 5 is because the food isn’t really authentic (obviously bc it’s not in Chinatown) but a lot of the stuff just isn’t spicy enough. They do have chili oil though. The spinach dumpling was kind of chewy and filling was kind of meh. Mapo tofu wasn’t spicy enough and didn’t have enough flavor. I loved the snow pea shoots but they didn’t need to add red bell pepper in there. Clay pot rice was really good though.
Amazing food (my favorite were the trio clay rice but everything was fantastic), ambiance, and service!! Cocktail was phenomenal. I only tried the seasonal one with baijiu but would love to try more. Why 4 stars?? I got 5 giant mosquito bites indoors. I wish they closed the door or used some insect repellent thing. Look forward to going back for the amazing food, drinks, service, ambiance, and NOT mosquitoes.
chic, fun and authentic Cantonese food! Amazing cocktails, highly recommend to start with the lychee shrimp and chili wontons! Pork belly, pea sprout and especially the XO rice rolls for mains! The only thing is that the restaurant is extremely noisy, would recommend dinning at the bar instead of the main dinning area.
Delicious dim sum & drinks! Had reservations for 2 @ 6PM and we arrived a little early but they seated us quickly. The space is beautiful and big enough to host larger groups (if that’s what you’re looking for). We ordered the dan dan noodles, chili wontons, har gow, and Singapore duck fried rice. I think the dan dan noodles & chili wontons are a must - both were delicious, comforting, and perfect to share. I also enjoyed the har gow but I don’t think I’d get the duck fried rice again, I actually regret not getting the crab fried rice haha. Great place to eat, chat, and drink. Really enjoyed our time here! Side note, the Plum Spritz is delicious (I recommend!!) but it is not purple ☹️ hahahah
Decor was cute, food is solid but didn’t blow us away in any way. The truffle soup dumplings were disappointingly under seasoned. Same with the duck in the clay pot rice. Enjoyed the dan dan noodles but you can get it better elsewhere. The chili beef is quite good for what it is if you like crispy beef. Agree with the reviewer that said this is a better place to grab drinks than to get dinner. If I came back for food I’d try their “blistered beans” (sautéed green beans), soft shell crab, and night market clams. I think that elevated Chinese dining is lacking in NYC compared to korean & japanese cuisine so I was very excited to try, but feels like a less innovative Pot Luck Club
This just-opened spot has such fun decor in the front room, making it perfect for meeting up with friends. The back room doesn’t have quite the same energy or excitement, but still has a modern throwback feel to it. Staff is wonderful—really personable and generally on top of it. Apologized for meal timing due to a communication breakdown with the kitchen that honestly did not hinder our experience whatsoever. Food is good but could use more flavor overall. Dishes felt a little hit or miss—the Silk Road tofu was a surprise highlight. Fried to a delicate crisp lines and so silky inside. Could’ve used a different dipping sauce with more punch. The blistered beans took me back to my childhood but could’ve used more soy sauce and garlic. Definitely order one of the clay pots. They’re hearty and filling and flavorful. The spinach dumplings should be skipped. Nothing special, and you can get better elsewhere at a fraction of the price. Same goes for the yuenyeung (ice cream). This was the most disappointing dish of the night. I’d head a couple blocks over to Anitta instead if you’re looking for something frozen. Drinks are very good. They lean towards fruity and light. We tried the Pineapple Cake, Neon Lights, and Just a Lychee Martini and all were great.
Overall rating: 4.4 My friend has been wanting to try this so we gave it a try for lunch on a Sunday. Making a reservation was easy but we could have easily just walked in. I didn’t know anything about this place, but just by walking in - I knew I was going into an overpriced, overhyped place. The decorations were way over the top. My friend and I ordered the: - Lychee Shrimp: 5/5 very different which was good - Crab & Pork soup dumplings: 3/5 nothing special - XO Rice Rolls: 5/5 I really liked these but my friend who’s Chinese said they were just okay - String beans: 4/5 good, but very oily - Side of vegetable fried rice: 0/5 NOTE this does not get served as a side even though you get offered it as an option. They actually charge you $18 and it’s a full on meal. I thought some of the food was good, but my friend noted overall it’s very oily compared to what it’s supposed to be. Take that however you want, but I think we’re better in Chinatown.
I had a lovely lunch! Special kudos to the amazing service - they truly pay attention to their customers and they care. I made a note on the reservation about my friend’s bday and they made sure to bring a little dessert with candle to celebrate him. Also, the menu is delicious and the vibe super cool. Will come back 😊
Drinks are great! The skin of the Crab Rangoon is fair~but most of the dim sum could use a bit more refinement. for example, the dumpling filling could be softer and juicier. The highly praised Lobster Yee Mein definitely lives up to its reputation, flavorful and satisfying. The Jumbo Twin Lobster Tower was also delicious, though the 188 price tag feels a bit on the high side. Overall, it’s still an excellent experience. Too bad the takeout chicken wings were missed, I was looking forward to trying them next time.
Came here for drinks and was impressed by the atmosphere! Loving the Hong Kong inspired decor. My favorite cocktails were the Plum Spritz and the Old Old New New. Happy hour drinks were nice and unique. Our bartender was nice and attentive. Looking forward to coming back here for some food!
The servers were amazing, and quite knowledgeable and patient. The crab and pork dumplings are worth the hype and the tea, soothing. Cozy joint!
server was excellent. really loved the eggplant but found the mapo to be on the blMd, flavorless side.

Cozy joint!
I was excited to try this place out as it is in my neighborhood. The ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful and the decor is very pretty. I was disappointed with the service we received. The restaurant wasn’t very busy when we arrived yet we had to ask many servers for our drinks. The food doesn’t have a tremendous amount of depth and amounts to a greatest hits list served at a mediocre level. What we did enjoy was the veggie dishes we ordered (string beans and pea shoots). Overall, I’d recommend spending your money someplace else.
The decor and the vibe are inviting and lovely, but service and food leave much to be desired. As a table of 4, my friends and I were sat at a tiny booth towards the front. We’re friends, so we didn’t mind the squeeze too much, but it definitely was not comfortable, especially with our winter coats mushed in. We were seated right in front of the bar, so we were surprised at how lacking the service was. We waited a long time for water (got pretty much no refills on it) and it took ages for anyone to come take our order. The bar was not busy, and from what we could see, the restaurant was not either, yet cocktails took a while to land. Half the time spent at the table was waiting for any of the service staff to stop staring in our direction and offer any assistance. Price is typical for the neighborhood, but if you’re from NYC, you already know that you can get much better food for a fraction of the cost with service that shines. I normally wouldn’t be so harsh, but $350 is steep price to pay for an experience like ours. Food was just okay, nothing memorable, and nothing upsetting. If service improved, I’d be happy to come again just for the ambience and light bites, but I’d stay away if I was looking for a meal.
The food was not as good as it should’ve been for the high prices. The fried rice was extremely dry, the noodle dishes that contained meat included such a small amount of said meat, and other dishes simply weren’t memorable. There are so many better Chinese restaurants in the nomad/flat iron/murray hill area, save your time and money and go somewhere else.
Just to save you some time- it's claypot OR rice. Not claypot rice. The service was friendly, but the food quality was basically take-out level at higher prices. You will enjoy this restaurant if you've never had Chinese food in your life.
Good ideas, but questionable execution with even more questionable pricing. The Singaporean duck fried rice was ok but there were a few pieces of bone in the dish and also would skip the duck egg that was basically raw. Walnut shrimp was decent, nothing special. Hawthorne pork belly was kinda just too fatty and oily. We also had lots of dishes delivered incorrectly to our table, not by our server. Aside from that, service was friendly.
I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, when it comes to Chinese cuisine, it left a lot to be desired. Too greasy and unsavory flavor combinations. Apps were so disappointing that we didn't order entrees... Service was overbearing with too many unnecessary interruptions (even if it came from a good heart), learn to read your tables and find appropriate times to approach. Cocktails were the sole bright spot. Better options in town.
I normally don’t write reviews but this was disappointing enough that I had to write one. The restaurant space itself is nice. But the food was very mediocre and overpriced. The lobster spring roll barely had any lobster and was oily. The xo rice rolls didn’t have much xo flavor and the bottom of the plate was a massive pool of oil. Worst of all was the walnut shrimp. The shrimp was terrible quality and tasted like rubber while the batter was extremely thick and fried to the point that it tasted like plastic. I will not be coming back.
Came here for the first time with a friend since she said she enjoyed the food and atmosphere there during her last visit. We saw they were doing Restaurant Week so we were very excited to try out their RW dinner menu at a discounted price of $45. While the service and atmosphere were all lovely, I unfortunately was let down by the food they decided to serve for RW. We both decided to order different dishes so that we could try. We ended up picking the Cucumber Salad, Pork Wonton Soup, Garlic Stir-Fry Pork, Crispy Spiced Fish Filets, Blistered Beans, Scallion Pancakes. Our favorites out of everything were the Scallion Pancakes and the Blistered Beans although the green beans didn't quite have that snap to it that I would have liked. Not a deal breaker though. However, the biggest disappointments were the entrees. The pork pieces were cut quite unevenly, resulting in the small, thinner pieces to be very tough and rubbery when I tried to bite into it and the bigger pieces to be just fine. The sauce also felt way too strong and salty in my mouth, that not even the vegetables and rice could save it for me. As for the Fish Filets, they were lacking in flavor and we noticed halfway through the dish that the flavored oil was at the bottom of the dish? Not quite sure if the oil was supposed to be coating the fish or not. Biting into the filets was also tougher than expected since the batter was chewier and thicker, instead of a crispier crust. The yuengyueng ice cream for dessert definitely helped to end the meal on a sweet note, as it tasted like the nostalgic bubble tea I used to have at the bakeries when I was a child. However, as someone who is Chinese and has eaten dishes like the stir-fried pork and crispy fish filets, but with better execution and lower price point at other Chinese restaurants in the city (I know this restaurant being in Time Square is a big factor of the price), I am unsure if I would come back for more of their food.
Stopped by on a Sunday with my son for a quick dinner. The place was pleasant and spacious. Loved the decor. Seating was easy and we were able to get a booth by the bar so I could enjoy happy hour. They have happy hour everyday. Which is great! My drink was very good, could’ve taken out one ice cube. I had egg fried rice, which was so simple but so good, however, at a whopping $20, I would’ve never ordered it if I had known it was that much! We tried the DanDan noodles, which were good but after the third bite, it became over powering. The wings were good and could’ve fried for a few more minutes to give them that extra church I was hoping for. The service was exceptional! Everyone was so kind and welcoming. Did not change my life, idk if it’ll change yours!
We popped in after dinner for dessert and tea, and I immediately loved the ambiance. It truly feels like you've walked into a retro Hong Kong restaurant, the vibe is definitely a 5/5! They have an extensive tea menu, and given the slightly high prices, I went in with high expectations for quality. Unfortunately, the tea was a huge letdown. We ordered the Orchid Oolong (2/5) and were disappointed that the flavor wasn't bold or fragrant at all. It felt like the tea leaf quality didn't match the price point. Thankfully, the dessert was good! My friend highly recommended the Yuan Yern Ice Cream (4.25/5), and it was delicious. The flavor was bold and authentic
I came here on a Friday night for dinner in late August around 730pm with four other people. The weather outside was gorgeous and it was the start of Labor Day weekend. We were able to make the reservation a few days prior. It seemed like the restaurant might have had availability for walk-ins but I cannot confirm. The inside of the restaurant is very well designed and appealing. I think it’s made to feel like you are in an Asian street market with a chic dining room. There is a relatively large bar in the front and a dining room in the back. I believe there is also seating upstairs. On the night we went, there was only one bar tender for the entire restaurant. As a result, we would wait 15-20 minutes for any drink from the bar which is unacceptable to me. Some of our food, also came out in consistent with what was ordered. The staff were all lovely and the manager was very apologetic and tried to compensate for the long bar wait times but there obviously wasn’t much she could do to speed up the process. The food itself was fine. Most of it looked better than it tasted. Especially for the price, I would say you can get much better tastin comparable food elsewhere. I likely wouldn’t seek out another dining experience here, but if someone suggested it as an option, I wouldn’t protest.
Wins on ambiance and presentation, but the food is mediocre and not cheap. The crab rangoon had no crab and the cheese was bland. The wontons were good, but the portion was tiny. The trio clay pot had plenty of meat, but the pork and sausage were greasy, and the duck chewy. The small mocktail was fine, but expensive for a non-alcoholic small drink.

Honestly. I’m so sick of being fooled by food influencers who were paid to provide good reviews. So not worth it and we left disappointed and feeling robbed. Service was great and attentive. Cocktails were delicious. Word of advice: Don’t come here hungry. Go to Chinatown for real delicious Chinese food at fraction of the price and then come here for cocktails.
Went yesterday and got the dan dan noodles and the trio clay pot. Food was super salty. Wife couldnt eat it cuz it was so salty so i ate all the dan dan noodles and left 90% of the claypot rice. Service was attentive so that was a plus. I asked to take my rice togo. Today i opened up the togo box to make kimchi fried rice out of the leftovers but noticed that they only packed half the food togo… i had left 3 quail eggs but only had 2 in the box, the rice was less than half of what was left over, and hardly had any of the remaining meat pieces. Strange why they wouldnt pack everything. Maybe they want you to think you ate more than you thought but jipping people of their paid food is a trash move.
Beautiful restaurant with a disappointing dining experience. The ambiance is truly stunning and sets high expectations—but unfortunately, the food didn’t come close to matching the setting. We ordered the chow fun, clay pot trio, and char siu buns. The clay pot duck was so overcooked it resembled beef jerky, the chow fun was overwhelmingly salty, and the buns were more like dense dough balls than anything else. A great atmosphere can’t make up for a meal that misses the mark this badly.
Wanted to like this place since it would be a cute neighborhood spot, but it is mediocre at best. Service is mid and food is also mid - not very authentic Cantonese food and everything was very heavily seasoned. We did both enjoy the shrimp w vermicelli. Open kitchen concept was cool and looked clean, and the bar filled up later. Seemed to be more of a place to grab drinks and catch up with a friend rather than place for dinner. The back room is freezing - felt like 65 degrees with the AC blasting full on. Even on this hot heat wave day, it was not pleasant. Asked to switch to a different seat in the front section (which was half empty when we arrived and I had made a reservation and showed up on time)…and had to ask 4 times before they finally said let us switch.
My partner and I were excited to check this restaurant out as the reviews gave us an impression the food and atmosphere would be amazing. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the lack of service and quality of food. Firstly, We were seated and attended to twice only, which were to take our drink/food order and bring it to our table. Secondly, the meals we ordered were over salted and over cooked. Thirdly, the food took way too long to get to our table…The only item I’d recommend would be their tea, extremely delicious.
I saw the allergy warning on their website so I called ahead of time because my mother has a shellfish allergy. I spoke with a waiter who assured me that there would be serval options on the menu she could eat and that the allergy warning was just a precaution. He told me they could omit ingredients so my mother could have them. He said as longs as she didn’t have a dish with oyster sauce or shellfish we were good to dine there. Upon our arrival the next day the waiter asked if anyone had a food allergy. We said yes, my mother does. He said okay and he would check in with the kitchen around what would be available for her. He came and asked, “is cross contamination okay?”. We were shocked. My mother is a retired chef and both myself and a friend that was a part of our party have worked in and been around kitchens our whole lives. We were visibly surprised and confused that he would ask that. We of course said no. He left again to the kitchen and came back and told us that there were three items on the menu should could eat. We looked and one had shrimp paste in it. He said all the food was cooked in the same oil and all the food was cooked on the same grill at the same time. That the cooks prepare all the food on the same surfaces. Another thing was that the waiter would speak to my friend and myself and not address my mother directly. He never asked us what we wanted, I had to prompt him to take our order for food and drinks. The drinks took a while, even my simple ginger ale. The fish and chips were over salted. Besides that the food is good. I had been there before and was excited to go again but after this experience and lack of knowledge around kitchen safety I most likely won’t return.
My friends and I ate dinner here not too long ago and we all ended up getting food poisoning. Pretty bad because we had to take off from work. We tried reaching out to the restaurant multiple times to emphasize that it would be important to check the cleanliness of food preparation so others don’t get sick too, but never got a response. Won’t be coming back here.
tldr; good ambiance, okay food, worst service ever. Never in my life have I been “shoo’ed” from a restaurant. Friend and I were seated at our 6pm reservation on time, only to get our dessert taken away while still eating at 6:58 for the next reservation. Keep in mind we were not informed of a time limit. The server constantly breathed down our neck, trying to take our dishes that weren’t even empty. He was very unintelligent about the menu and also passive aggressive. I really shouldn’t have tipped at all.
The razor clams dish was the only redeemable dish out of everything we ordered. The duck fried rice had a strong gameyness to it and I gave up after one spoon. Pepper beef was too sweet and definitely not hongkong style. The lychee cocktail tasted like expired rice wine. It tastes similar to Panda Express except it has a better service.
