First time out here, and I was impressed. Staff is easy going. I was shocked when I received my tab, $10 and some change for a brisket and sausage sandwich, side and drink. Granted it was during their lunch special, but these prices are unheard of when it comes to BBQ. Brisket was smoked perfectly, no dry slices. Spicy sausage was only a compliment to the sandwich. Will be back!

Delicious BBQ, very generous portions and tender ribs, but my favorite is the spicy sausage with beans and cole slaw for sides. Their BBQ brisket is fantastic too. You have the option of ordering your plate with one, two or three types of meat. Yummo! Cowpokes is literaly a stone's throw off I-35 (exit 140, I believe), so very convenient for travelers. Just take the exit to Pearsall and you'll find it on the south side of the road. Fast, friendly service and succulent BBQ. Try it with ice cold, fresh tea. It's so good!

Simply great mesquite smoked BBQ. It is cooked the "Texas-way". Always clean and good. Sometimes crowded, but the line moves fast. They have an extra room for large groups. The BBQ is consistent weather it is catered or dine-in.

Nice BBQ spot. Good brisket, sausage and chicken. Ok sides. Sauce is a little sweet and thin but in a good way. Saw it’s previously been in Texas Monthly top 50. Definitely the best place to eat in a 30-45 min radius.

Great little brisket sandwich while on the road! Nice thick cut, tender pieces of sliced brisket on a warm bun. I opted for dry since I was on tge road, but they still added pickles and a side of bbq. Yes, the sauce is on the thinner side, but it's good enough to add just the right amount of flavor. I've gotta make time to stop in next time I'm passing thru!

Excellent BRISKET! I had a BRISKET sandwich with a side of Jalapeño sausage. Too bad they don't make crusty, casserole style macaroni. Nobody does! Except the soul food restaurants, but they're not as easy to locate. Black people know their macaroni and barbecue. Just saying. This place is definitely clean and the food is delicious. 😋

I only tried the chili Fritos because I wasn’t very hungry. It was a good portion of chili and Fritos with a big portion of meat. It was so delicious I finished the whole bowl.

We eat BBQ all over the world. The BBQ is good, not great. They were sold out of everything but brisket and turkey. We usually get pulled pork or brisket, so brisket it was. Brisket was pretty good (a little on the dry side), but the bbq sauce was close to perfect. The sauce was not too sweet or to vinegary. We always get the Coleslaw. It was a large cut Coleslaw and a little dry but not to sweet or vinegary; it was not my favorite, but not bad. This restaurant food is worth the stop, just don't expect outstanding.

We ordered the chicken family meal with two sides, two links of sausage and peach cobbler. The chicken was so dry, the green beans weren’t anything special, the potato salad was decent, the sausage was tasty but the best part of that meal was the peach cobbler. I probably won’t stop here again.

Decided to stop here for lunch. The front wall had a Texas Monthly "Top 50 BBQ Joints" paper on the wall, so I had high hopes. The first thing I noticed was no plates, all meats including sausage are sold by the 1/4 lb, and the price for brisket and sausage were the same. I ordered 1/4 moist brisket and 1/4 spicy sausage. For my side I went with potato salad and a Dr Pepper. The brisket had decent flavor, but only half of every piece was moist, the side with the fatty edge, the opposite side was drier and less tender. My 1/4 portion was about 4 small slices. The sausage had good flavor. It was some of the better sausage I've had, but the 1/4 lb serving was quite a bit, and appeared to be double the brisket. The potato salad had mustard in it and was chunky. Im not sure if the potatos were boiled or baked, they had a decent denseness to them and weren't totally mushy. The BBQ sauce was the liquidy type, almost like soup. It had ok flavor but nothing unique. Overall the meal was decent, but nothing that was overly great. Prices were OK, portions were decent, but other than being the only BBQ place in town, at least that I know of, there was nothing else to being me back. Employees didnt really say much, other than taking my order, there wasnt really any interaction and I had to ask someone clearing tables to get a drink refill.

Let’s do a simple review. Pros: 1. friendly staff -👍🏾 2. Pretty clean - 👍🏾 3. Price - I actually think they are pretty under priced for bbq. 4. Chicken- the chicken was fine Cons: 1. Sauce - very loose sauce with odd sweetness. Has a consistency of something they just added water to, too make more of. Kinda reminds me of when i was little and we had cereal with powered milk. 2. Brisket - had a nice look but lacked flavor. 3. Sausage - it was ok, but for a bbq joint I expected for it to be made in house. 4. Potato salad - it’s not good. 5. Peach cobbler - needs a lot of work. On the fence: 1. Tea - way to sweet for me but it was fine 2. I didn’t have the ribs but they looked fine.

I reached out in regards to a fraudulent charge at their business from my credit card hoping to address it and get it fixed. Not only did they not help me. They won’t even respond so good luck. I will handle through my credit card instead and never do business with them
