The interior of the restaurant is clean and inviting and there is plenty of parking. All the menu items were very decently priced. I loved the spice level of the Mysore Masala Dosa and how crispy it was. The sambar was perfect & the chutneys were all super tasty. The staff was not only incredibly welcoming and accommodating, but also very attentive to the customers. Definitely come by to give this place a try if you want an authentic South Indian food experience!
We had an amazing late lunch here on a weekday, so no rush at all 😋 ✔️ Chutneys and sambhar taste great ✔️ Potato masala is not spicy so good for the kids, but I would have preferred a little more spicy ✔️ Staff is courteous and receptive to feedback ✔️ Price-quantity ratio was good Here's what we ordered and recommend 👇🏻 ✅️ Ghee Podi Thatte Idli : Must try, super soft idlis with generous podi and tempering sprinkled all over ✅️ Benne Masala Dosa : Amazing texture, deliciously made. Might feel buttery to some but I liked it ✅️ Mysore Dosa : Huge and fulfilling. The chutney smeared inside was unique which I haven't tried before Will surely be back for more! Check out my Instagram food page @veggie_central for more pics and reel.
After a while found this authentic tasting South Indian food restaurant. All vegetarian menu. They open early for breakfast, which is ideal. Most of the items have “with Ghee” option, go for it! Tastes really good. We tried Ghee Masala Dosa and Ghee Thetti Idli, both were equally great. Cap the meal with filter coffee. Service is quick. Only place I felt that could be improved is the cleaning of tables, and the cleanliness in the restroom.
Excellent South Indian Vegetarian restaurant in Pleasanton California USA. There was heavy rush, so had to wait for almost an hour for the food before we 8 Members could enter. Even though late, food was tasty and Excellent. We ordered Mini Idli dipped in Sambar, Thatti Idli, Idli, Onion Dosa, Masala Dosa, Onion Masala Dosa, Benne Masala Dosa, Combo 2 items consisting of 1 idli, vada, upma all served with Coconut chutni, chutni, Sambar and kesari sweet and coffee. Food was awesome. Rates on an average of USD 9.00 for each item other than for coffee. Experience was awesome.
Our recent stay at Madras Idli Kadai was nothing short of exceptional. Despite its bustling location, the hotel effortlessly managed to provide a serene and welcoming atmosphere. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were greeted with warmth and efficiency. One of the most striking aspects of our experience was the fast service. Despite the crowd, the staff members were attentive and quick to address any needs or inquiries we had. Whether it was checking in, requesting room service, or seeking recommendations for local attractions, the staff's professionalism and efficiency were truly commendable. Moreover, the atmosphere of the hotel was delightful. Despite its central location, the ambiance was serene and inviting, allowing us to relax and unwind after a busy day of exploring the city. The hotel's design and decor contributed to a complete environment, seamlessly blending comfort and sophistication. Overall, our experience at Madras Idli Kadai exceeded expectations. We would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a five-star experience in the heart of the city. Our stay was marked by fast service, a great atmosphere, and a complete environment, earning it a well-deserved 5/5 rating. We look forward to returning in the future.
As a Hyderabad native, I'm always on the hunt for authentic South Indian food. So when I heard about Madras Idli Kadai's happy hour dosa deals, I knew I had to give it a try. And let me tell you, this place did not disappoint. The dosas were an absolute instant hit. I tried the Benne, Masala, and Ghee Nalla Karam, and each dosa was just perfect – crispy, slightly tangy, and exactly how they should be. The Benne Dosa, in particular, was a standout with its buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture. The chutneys and sambar were great accompaniments, especially the coconut and peanut chutney, along with the tangy tomato chutney. I also tried the thatte idli, which was massive and fluffy, just like the ones back home. It came with a generous helping of ghee and podi, and the nalla karam podi was the perfect amount of spicy. The poori was another standout. Thin, crispy, toothsome and slightly chewy, it was the ideal vehicle for the delicious Bombay chutney. I could easily eat a dozen of these. We indulged in their weekend special Thali. The Paneer 65 and Soya Veg Biryani were exceptional highlights. Although not a fan of Okra, the fiery Alu Fry was a revelation. The Sambar, rich and well-balanced, and the Rasam with its invigorating kick, concluded the meal with Rasam Rice, Podi, and ghee. The Roti and Tofu Masala harmonized perfectly, while their refreshing Butter Milk, infused with grated ginger, provided a soothing end to the delightful spice of the meal. The ambience at Madras Idli Kadai is simple but inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I hear they even have pani poori on weekends, which I'm definitely looking forward to trying.
Delicious Crunchy Dosa combined with their in-house chutneys make each dosa bite so tasty and flavorful. Their Idli are very fresh and Sambar is tasty. This place has delicious food combined with home like feel. The customer service was even great. I have been to this spot already multiple times with my family. The consistency always been there, highly recommend it.
Friendly atmosphere and a very dedicated team. We have been to this restaurant multiple times over the past 2 years and 9 out of 10 times, we are very much satisfied with the quality of their dishes. They also make sure to use only compostable plates and cutlery and their prices are very reasonable
This place is our favorite the moment with think about South Indian veg food. I am a fan of their mysore masala and guntur ghee Karam dosai. My family also likes the idly combo and my kid never misses the rose milk. The service and the value for money provided by them - no other place in town can match with. Overall I recommend this place for anyone carving for authentic South Indian vegetarian food
Wow it's really great experience. First time we went to this store. All dosa items was delicious. Especially mysore masala dosa. My kids likes boat dosa. Good team. Well done
Authentic south indian restaurant in Pleasantaon, CA. You get all the traditional breakfast items like Idli, Pongal, Vada, Poori and Dosa. The chutney and sambar tasted exactly same as what you get in South India. We enjoyed our breakfast here. Also the catering and dosa station is high recommend for catering.
I visited Madras Idly Kadai with my family for their buffet, and the food was really amazing. Every dish tasted fresh and authentic, and we all enjoyed it a lot. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere felt welcoming
Perfectly made dosa (crisp and delicious, not soft) and idlis. Really friendly host. We arrived during their buffet hour (after 12 on Sunday), but we ordered dosa from the menu We've been to a few other places, but this one has consistently given that right amount of crispiness to the dosa. Will be back
The food was served really fresh and along with great food came great costumer service. The team was very kind to me and definitely enhanced my experience. The ambience of the restaurant was also great and the pricing was very reasonable as well. Definitely recommend this place.
Tried MIK special dosas few times and very tasty . Sambar , kurma and chutneys are all flavorful and authentic South Indian style. Tried Ragi dosa for the first time in my life for a change and good. .
Great experience at MIK! Lovely and sweet service by the staff — they were very warm and welcoming. We had the ghee podi tatte idli and onion chili uttappam, and both were excellent. The food tasted very homely and comforting. Definitely coming back!
We were welcomed immediately upon entrance by the boss? I think. Him and the waiter were so nice. I wasn’t sure what some of the items were and the waiter took his time to explain to us what each thing was that we inquired about. We ordered the madras coffee and masala chai and it was PERFECT nice and strong! The food was amazing the sauces tasted freshly made and everything was finger licking look good! So delicious! I will definitely come back here!
The food was delicious, the host was wonderful, and the buffet was always full, plus the host was super attentive.
Excellent taste and one of the best South Indian food in the Bay Area! Having tried most South Indian places around Bay Area, I’d say this one is the best and authentic in terms of taste. Don’t miss it! Plenty of parking available. Not sure of wait time. we got seated immediately as we went close to closing hours.
Cozy South Indian Veg Restaurant tucked in the corner in Rosewood Center. Visited with Family, party of 4 around 8.15 PM on a Saturday evening. We were seated quickly. We ordered Starters and went in for Dosa Options, Kothu Parotta, and Tiffin Combo. Dishes arrived quickly and were served on eco-friendly bio degradable plates. All items tasted great, and portions were of good size. Prices were reasonable. we would definitely visit again. Nice South Indian Veg. option for budget conscious families.
I recently tried South Indian food for the very first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was! 😋 I wasn’t sure what to order, so I picked three different dishes, and I ended up loving two of them. Their coconut dip was incredibly tasty, and the carrot pudding was a nice, sweet finish to the meal. Overall, a great first experience. I’d definitely come back to try more!
The food was great as it was made fresh. But the quality could be better. We ordered Vada first, which was freshly made but it was not crunchy. The core felt like it was a little undercooked. The masala dosa itself missed a flavor , not the masala. The Onion Rava dosa was good. Anyway I feel there are good areas of improvement. We will visit again.
We had the lunch buffet in the weekend. By far the best buffet in Bay Area. Crispy pakora, flavorful briyani, excellent kollu rasam, tasty akkara vadisal, and mushroom kurma were my favorites. Our Kids enjoyed the vegetable briyani and akkara vadisal. Love to come to this place again. Real value for the money. Don’t miss this restaurant if you are in east Bay Area.

Madras Idli Kadai is easily one of the best South Indian spots I’ve been to. The idlis are incredibly soft, the chutneys are fresh and flavorful, and the service is quick and friendly. Every visit feels satisfying and consistent. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic South Indian breakfast!
We absolutely love this restaurant! The South Indian cuisine here is consistently outstanding—especially the idly, podi idly, dosa, and pongal, which are all incredibly delicious and authentic. Each dish bursts with flavor and is clearly made with care. The staff are always friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which greatly enhances the overall experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for tasty South Indian dishes!
We visit this restaurant often for breakfast, and the food is consistently delicious and well worth the price. The breakfast buffet is a great deal, offering all the major South Indian breakfast items. Our kids especially love the dosas and pooris and always look forward to the weekends so we can go there. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I really like this restaurant. I love their big dosas and the triple podi thatte idlis. My kids enjoy the cone dosas, and my husband loves the rava dosas and uttappams. We usually go there for brunch—it’s reasonably priced, and we’re happy with the service too.
I’ve eaten at Mylapore Restaurant many times, but Madras Idli Kadai is simply on another level. The idlis are softer, the chutneys taste fresher, and the overall quality is far superior. For me, Madras Idli Kadai beats Mylapore easily. This has officially become my go-to South Indian spot. Highly recommended!

I recently visited Madras Idli Kadai in Pleasanton and really enjoyed the experience. The idlis were soft and spongy, and the accompanying sambar and chutneys were packed with authentic South Indian flavors. The dosas, especially the karam dosa, were delicious and filling. The atmosphere was simple yet inviting, and service was quick and friendly even when the place got busy. Definitely recommend if you enjoy South Indian breakfast.

I moved to tracy from sunnyvale. Being a regular at madurai idli kadai, this name caught me. Food is decent. Lot of options. Looks like this business is owned by techies. They know the pulse of bay area desis. Dosa was a little too crisp. Everything else is great. Priced super decent.
We went here on a Friday. Though the place was full, we got a place to sit right away. We ordered a lot of food here - Medu Wada, Thattu Idli, Benne Dosa, Onion Masala Dosa and Cheese Masala Dosa. We washed this down with a couple of Madras Filter Coffees. The food was good. The Wada's were piping hot and crispy. Thattu Idli was fluffy and BIG. Onion Dosa was nothing special but raw onions in a Masala Dosa. Benne Dosa was different and Cheese Masala Dosa was decent too. Now, the service was poor. Benne Dosa was the first, item we ordered but came last. We got water in the middle of our order. Nonetheless, we might come back for more.
I visited Bangalore last year and tried the Thatte idli there for the very first time and simply loved it. So, when I came across an Insta reel about this new place in tri valley which served thatte idli and Benne dosa, I instantly thought of trying this place. On a Sunday afternoon, I went there for lunch and ordered the ghee podi idli, the masala Benne dosa and the thali. The podi idli here is the best I had so far in the bay area & the Benna dosa was equally good. The thali on the other hand wasn’t that great, infact not great at all. I really liked the Sambhar & the rasam here and the filter coffee was good too. Service is good, staff is courteous and they patiently answered all our queries about the different dosas on their menu. The only downside to our experience here was a crying child at the next table and when the hostess decided to play Cocomelon on the TV right above my head to pacify the crying baby (which was a very thoughtful thing to do however the loud TV was a little too much). Overall, it was a pleasant experience, will definitely go back for their idlis and dosas.
Dosa-sambhar was really good, they were very generous with the quantity. Podi idli was delicious. Filter coffee was okay. Uttapam was not very good.
Update: 5/24/2024- had upset tummy from this second trip. the place seems to be heading in the same direction as other desi places ignoring the hygiene. That is getting dirty as the newness disappears. The guy cleaning the tables simply let the things fall on the floor using the buss cloth(why not use a plate to grab stuff while cleaning instead of simply rubbing and let things fall to floor?) . Very novice thing. Floor is slippery unlike the first time we were there, one of the reasons is because of this. (Don’t forget the place is very small and packs up next to each other tables & people walk on these food crumbs to get in and out of tables ) The tray’s are now sticky with the corner garbage can leading to toilet where they empty them takes the brunt of this use and throw plates and cups. Instead of this postbox type garbage can why not use an open can garbage so it can help empty the try’s more easily and not splatter it all around doing circuses with the current small opening. Empty it frequently and don’t need a closed can. This garbage can setup usual make the floor and the walls around splattered with the food residuals & possibly leading to the smell there. There is a coffee and tea making setup with every passing personal/workers using their hands to either make coffee/tea to customers or for themselves. I saw the chef from kitchen came in rubbing his head with his hands straight to the milk pot to make a quick cup for himself before disappearing to make more dosas/food( his pant is all full of batter obviously making food all day I guess). The guy helping the plates with food before passing to the servers went inside and came back with a batch of chutney and sambar in an open container coughing and sneezing likely from the pollen allergies going around…yuk Cleaning and hygiene with personal working there has to go up. Will give another try to check this place. Cause my picky son likes their idly & I want this place to succeed. Please.. Now to food, don’t like Dosa to be super crispy. Appetizer, onion pakoda came last and it’s crispy on top but inside still feels the Chana batter needs little more time . Idly and vada was good. 3/24/2024: Like the taste of Sambar and chutneys, which has the tanginess that pops up when eating . Idly sambar combination is good. Mini idly is liked by my kids. Panner Dosa looks and tastes well. Along with vada. Overall a good place.
Good comfort food spice, perfect when the craving hits! Ordered an assortment of dishes from Madras Idli Kadai for a lazy night in. I was generally impressed by the South Indian flavors and would return for some spicy comfort food in the future. We ordered a few different items to try. In order of personal preference, my ranking is: Paratta Kurma: Excellent texture and rich, savory flavor for the vegetable korma. Sambar: A spicy soup that hit the spot on a cold, rainy evening. Kothu Paratha: Solid, but I preferred the other dishes more. For beverages, the Mango Lassi was perfect—it had a nice creamy sweetness that balanced and cooled the spice of the Sambar. The only downside is that the quantity felt a little stingy for the price, but the flavors were genuinely good, which makes it worthwhile when I'm craving that authentic South Indian spice.
The best thing about this place is the friendly service. They need to get organized better, place looks unkempt, and the food was pretty good. Idli and Vada were well made, however the sweet dishes lacked flavor. They also offer a lot of combos which we liked.
I am rating Madras Idli Kadai 3 out of 5 for the following reasons. We had Idli Vada Combo, Thatte idli, Medhu Vada, Benne Dose, Paratha Kurma and Filter Coffee. A good addition to the list of South Indian restaurants in Trivalley. 1. The Paratha was good but Kurma had no vegetables at all. Kurma consistency was like that of Salna given for biriyani. I would expect the kurma with more vegetables. Not ordering this again here. 2. The Thatte Idli and the normal Idlis were exceptional. They were very soft and fluffy. Definitely an order for weekend breakfasts. The Coconut chutney was very good too. They even served additional ghee for the Idlis. 3. Medhu vada was a disaster. It was very oily and did not match my expectations. We left 3 Vadas on the tray but the waiter was kind enough to replace them with Normal idlis when we complained about the oily Vadas. Kudos to their service which is normally not found in other Indian restaurants. 4. Benne Dosa - this was bangalore style Dosa. I am from Bangalore and hence did not have much expectations with the Benne Dosa from a Madras restaurant. There was no authentic Red chutney inside the dosa but the taste of the Dosa in itself was good. Dosa was crispy but small when compared to the other restaurants serving Bangalore style Dosa. Sambhar was average. Definitely scope to improve the taste of the sambhar. 5. Filter Coffee was very good. They had an option of brown sugar/Jaggery for the coffee. Overall, I would visit Madras Idli Kadai for their Idlis if not anything else.
Dosas and tatte idly are very yummy! Rasam vada was superb! Loved their filter coffee. Benne dosa, masala dosa, ravva dosa etc were very tasty. The service was prompt and fast. However, the restaurant would be filled with cigarettes smell every now and then spoiling the atmosphere. The chutneys are kept uncovered outside near the foot traffic area. We saw a staff personnel cleaning the floor and tables there, spraying room freshener and cleaner agents right at the chutney stand. Of course the sprays would have gone into the chutneys. We joked that they enhanced the taste but we knew it was not good. Please change the setup, have lids on condiments, keep the cigarette smoke away, maintain food safety standards so that we enjoy your tasty food.

Recently opened. Visited twice. Took some time to get table. Idly and Benne dosa are good, but there is always limited chutney problem and sometimes you have to adjust with sambar, which is not acceptable. To-go is not at all recommended. High chance you wont get chutney , and I got the wrong order too. We ordered 1 masala dosa and 1 benne masala dosa . They delivered 2 masala dosa. Disappointed.
Food was tasty, but dosa was too oily. Low rating is mainly for the unhygienic practices I’ve seen. 1. They keep the prepared food items from kitchen in a small counter area for the servers to pick it up. That area is small with dirty black curtains on either side. Items like dosas which extends out of the plates easily touches the dirty cloth. So a good portion of the dosa we got were not consumable due to that. It becomes even more of a problem when they keep multiple plates in that area at the same time, as cloth just stays on top of the food in such cases. 2. On top of this, they had bill receipts on one side of this area. The food is touching these receipts too most of the time. This is also not hygienic. Why to keep the receipts there when the space is already small? 4. Back side where wash area is there is not clean and looks like they don’t care about cleanliness 3. For coffee, they gave sugar in a big bowl, which is passed on from one customer to another. This is also not a good practice as kids may take it using their hand and this will be then passed on to others. Also this sugar bowl is kept in front of customers for a long time before taking it back. This also should be avoided. If possible, use sugar packets. Otherwise give the sugar in smaller cups like how chutney is served. If someone needs more sugar, let them get one more cup. 4. Talking about chutney, they keep it open in the cups and prefill lot of cups. It is on they way where customers go to wash. If you want to pre-fill, keep it closed or in a place where not a lot of people walks in and out. Altogether it is concerning that some basic cleanliness is not considered. I hope owner looks at these issues and take necessary steps to keep it clean. I’ll return after some time to see if there are any improvements to the way they’re handling it.
I ordered 2 items. Mini idli dipped in sambar and gongura rasam. The sambar in mini idli was not piping hot and just barely warm. The rasam arrived super late and it was very oily. Not happy with the first visit to this restaurant.
Clean and organised place but service was disappointing. We went around 1:30pm and it was not busy at all. Just one other group and yet they took 40 mins to bring our order and still got it wrong. The onion rava dosa was not well made. The sambar did not taste good. Very underwhelming. They forgot to put the potatoes in the rava masala dosa and when we told them they brought them on the side and that too after 15 mins.
Restaurant looked dated and dirty. Food was well below average. Dosa was super crispy like papad and the podi was sprinkled on totally dry. Will not revisit. Upma had low salt, idli was not soft. Will not revisit
We visited this restaurant for lunch on a weekend. On weekends, they only serve special lunch meals instead of the usual meals. The lunch options were quite different from the typical South Indian meals, featuring soy chunk Manchurian and a small serving of biryani, in addition to the usual sambar and rasam. The dosa was overly crispy, almost like an apalam, and it fell apart easily. Service was acceptable, but the restaurant's cleanliness was disappointing. Its was very dirty. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place for authentic South Indian food.

We felt betrayed. The buffet was awful. The labels were misleading. We saw there were items like idli, methu vada, upma on the labels and were very excited but in reality none of them were present. Biryani was stale and samya sweet was old. There were veg cutlet and ponganalu - god knows what is the combo with which we should eat with. Guys your place is my favorite for dosas and you are loosing it with these thought lessly designed buffet. Wake up till it's too late.
I ordered dosa and it was honestly one of the worst I’ve had. The texture, taste, and overall quality were all off — it didn’t feel fresh at all. For a place known for South Indian food, this was really unexpected. Definitely not worth the visit.
We ordered catering here for navratri. They took our order but they gave a different food which is not at all what we ordered. At the last minute, they make a mess and corner us to try to sell their cheap and easy or common food stuff to us. Of course, as a customer nobody wants to fight with them at the last minute with guests at the occasion, right? So, without any option, we had to consume what they gave with lots of disappointment. Then, next day, when we spoke to them about it they are asking if they can take back their food and refund money which is their way of cheating people in a smart way. Do not ever order anything from them. Then, ur party or occasion will be a mess on the food part. They will quote a price to satisfy you, get your order but then they will make a complete different order which is profitable for them but it will be loss for the customer. Stay away from their catering!
Horrible food. Had dosa here and the oil has upset my stomach. Either ghee or sesame oil is what we use. The quality was bad although the size of dosa was big. We are a mylapore customer and wanted to try this place for a change to avoid the crowd there but the wait there is worth it.
My first attempt to this place, and it turned out to be a disaster. Firstly the entire place kinda looks nice and neat, but only to realize their half of the food served is kept outside. The chutneys for idly/dosa/vada are all kept outside on a table pre portioned into small cups, on the walkway where major foot traffic is. We ordered puri and curry , the curry was diluted, and not impressive. The thali that we ordered had curried that were spoiled. Then came in the mysore dosa, which had half of it hangling on to the black serving tray and the dosa itself tasted bland. For all the above reasons, I'm skipping this restaurant of my list to visit.
