Absolutely delicious. This was my first time and I loved it. Sat down to an assortment of Kim-chis. They were all delicious. The main dish was also fantastic. Can't recommend this enough and we will return!
Amazing service had a great Valentine's day with the wife. The Kimchi-jjigae is phenomenal with just the right spice and amazing flavor. We will be going again.
Perhaps it’s special treatment for frequenting this place for food of my father’s land. I think the wait staff effortlessly goes above and beyond to provide a repeat customer experience shout out to Hanna.
This is definitely a legit Korean restaurant. Just leaving a quick 5 star review here as a Korean American. I stopped by this place randomly on my road trip, hoping to get some refreshing spicy kimchi stew in this cold weather, and I was not disappointed. The broth had a kick to it that hit the back of my throat, and it tasted so good and spicy, just as I expected a spicy Korean soup should be. It also came with side dishes and rice. It was definitely worth my money. I will return again for sure.
Food is positively delicious. This has been one of the only places that can satisfy my korean food craving. It's hidden by warehouses but the food is phenomenal and worth the maze
Loved this hidden gem. Excellent kimchi jigae, and the variety of banchan was lovely. Will have to come back with a group to split some jein!
Wonderful experience. Ordered Bulgogi and Katsu Don. Both meats were tender and well seasoned. Mandu dumplings were crisp and light, and the sweet and spicy wings were a delightful mix of heat and deep flavor.
This place was no frills but amazing food. My sister in-law lived in Korea for a year and said the food was very authentic. I enjoyed my dish but the spice wasn't as much as I was hoping for. Still very good but I would have enjoyed more spice. On a side note, I was shocked at how clean the bathroom was. I always get creeped out when a bathroom, that the staff uses, is nasty. This was really nice and clean
This place is an actual hidden gem, in addition to be hidden. Nice Korean restaurant around Rochester area. Learn about this place from friend recommendation and they warned us this place is hidden. Service was amazing and quick. We ordered the Kalbi from marinated bbq and haemul-tang. Food was delicious and fresh. Overall, will definitely come back to this place.
Stopped by for dinner Tuesday 6pm, every table was occupied, waited 3 minutes for the next table. Menu had a variety of Korean food favorites at fair prices. I ordered a beef bulgogi bibimbob $16 and a bulgogi $20. They both came out with good flavor. The bibimbob actually came out in the clay hot pot which made the rice at the bottom crispy which is what it’s supposed to be. The only thing I would say is the beef bulgogi was minced very thin similar to ground beef pieces almost. They gave the standard banchan side dishes like cucumber salad and kimchi, etc. there were only 2 female servers in the whole restaurant floor but they hustled, some hard workers. I’m sure the cooks were cooking it up fast as well. Overall great flavor and authentic taste, will return. Thank you Sodam
The outside of the building wasn't much to look at, but everything at Sodam was great. The staff brings a few small portions to taste, including kimchi, seaweed, and spiced cucumbers. I tried the Mandu and the Kalbi-tang. The Mandu was fantastic. It was crispy and flavorful. The Kalbi-tang had very tender beef and fresh vegetables. The broth was not as flavorful as I personally hoped, but some extra chili added helped immensely. All the plates coming out looked equally as good
This place has the best Korean food! For anyone who likes spicy food this is the place. All the dishes we tried were delicious. You also get a small set of appetizers for free. Also the staff at this place are amazing! We went during a busy time but they were friendly, kind and accommodating. Definitely coming back again.
Upon arrival and finally navigating our way there through a web of warehouse like buildings we arrived to what looked like a whole in the wall. The exterior made us question whether this was somewhere we would even want to eat but, I'm so glad we did! First we were greeted by a super warm and welcoming young lady and sat in a another room near the kitchen. Even the smells coming from the kitchen were a signal we'd made the right choice! The interior has almost a cafe or diner look but every surface was spotless. Even the little decorations scattered about were totally dust free. Our waitress was super helpful and answered all of our questions, she made it clear we were a priority. We were first brought out complimentary little appetizer type dishes that were all equally amazing. (I will include the picture and from left to right They were potatoes, seaweed, cucumber salad, and kimchi) I usually dont even care for 2 of the things and thought everything was equally fantastic. Next came the appetizer, Mandu, it was piping hot and full of flavor. Next up were entrees and everything was soooo good! We ordered Rabokee, Chicken bulgogi, Dolsot Bibimbob, and a drunken tiger roll. Everything was fantastic and full of flavor. I live over an hour away and will still make the trip to go again. Would also highly recommend the dolsot bibimbob!
Sodam is probably my go to Korean restaurant in Rochester. The quality of the food has been consistent over the years. I like their bibimbap and seafood pancakes. However, they definitely have cut down on staff and the side dishes. They used to give us six side dishes, but now they only give four. In addition, there was only one person attending the tables and they seemed annoyed with any requests that the customers had. I asked for seconds on the side dishes but didn’t get them.
It’s ok. Much better options around. The staff was very friendly. The food was plain and one note.
I like their Bibimbob, tasting good. Also they served some free appetizers which tastes great! However, They don’t serve free water, which is a little sad. Many Korean dishes are spicy so water is needed. Also, some dishes had very little amount. Rice sticks were very little and kimchi hotpot served roughly 3 bowls.
Oily sub par food, but the waitress staff was charming and nice. As a positive, the small, free, appitizers were ok and they provided plenty of ice water in a qt table bottle. The food was disappointing. The Scallion pancake appetizer was oily, soggy and flaverlesss. The soft shell crabs was breaded & deep fried. The main dish, Game Ja Tang, had a 1/4 inch pool of oil on the bottom of the bowl when I finished. The Beef Bulgogi was flavorless, oily, with a 1/4 cup of Korean pepper paste slapped onto the side of the plate. It was busy with families and college students (UofR & RIT), but we will not be returning.
