Me and my hubby work nights and coming in tonight at 10 was great. The gentlemen are always nice and the food is great for the price!

I love coming to Steak ‘n Shake. I don’t mind the kiosks at all it’s not a big deal to order on a screen to me. You pick what table you want which I like, you have to get your food when it is called out. I do feel as though they could at least walk it over to you and ask if anything else is needed. The food as always was good I will always be coming back to Steak ‘n Shake.

Havnt been to a steak n shake in nearly 10 years. Came in for a birthday meal with my wife and little kiddo. Great food, nice staff. So happy I came in!

I've never had a bad stop here. From the service to the food everything has been top notch. By far, the best part of Steak 'n Shake is the shake part. They have such unique and amazing tasting shakes. Another thing I've noticed is the store is usually pretty busy. Tables that get left tend to get cleaned up relatively quickly.

First time I tried but wife had it as a kid. She said it tasted just before, I say it is a really great taste for a burger and the fries are really good too. I ordered a few shakes for the kids and I. The shakes didn't fail either. The cost seemed a little high but hey we are in a time of price increase just for everyone to stay a float so it's probably about average for other individual priced food places.

Great service, great food, great family value! I had never been to Steak 'n Shake before, we were out and about doing some Saturday garage sale hunting and worked up an appetite. We saw a sign on the window that said kids eat free on Saturdays, so we were in. I was surprised that they seat you like a sit down restaurant, as we expected it to be a fast food type environment. The service was fast and friendly. We were surprised with the prices of the food here. Everything was not just priced fairly, I would go so far as to say it's downright cheap! My wife, son and I were able to eat and leave a nice tip for our waiter for $15! And the food was really good. Love the thin, crispy fries and the seasoning you can put on them. My burger was cooked perfectly and everything was fresh and tasty. I will definitely be back!

I really hope management sees this review as I'd like to compliment Phil at the drive thru. Went in on 12/18/23 at around 7 or 730 PM. Phil was VERY polite and attentive. I haven't had Steak and Shake for ages but the food was great and the burgers tasty like I remembered.

The most polite workers and the food is above average. They give you what you order and no one has to pull over and park like some of the other fast food places in Garland do. These burgers and fries are so good and tasteful.

My son and I enjoyed a late night dinner at this facility. It felt super retro but was also tech-savvy with their kiosk order system and qr code to retrieve your drink. The staff was welcoming and the facility was clean.

Seriously some of the nicest people i’ve ever met, I accidentally placed a late order on DD and they let me come pick it out after hours and were very polite and nice!! food was amazing too

The larger restaurants in the area were jam packed with cars. This place was open and had seating. I do not like the ordering screens, but one of the employees repeatedly asked if we needed any help placing our order. The shake was large, like they were before Covid. The fries were the smaller ones that a like. And the burger was perfect. The other customers were families with children.

We have never ate at Steak and Shake. Our first time, we ordered the butter burger, and the garlic burger. OMG the garlic burger is now my favorite burger now. The fries are good. I cant wait to try the shakes.

This is by far my favorite Steak n Shake. The staff cooks amazing burgers, makes true old fashioned shakes, fries are amazing. Great prices. What more could you ask for!? We visit often. Highly recommended.

Visited for the first time about a week ago and came back today, staff gave great service, food was great and it was very calm and peaceful. Really cold in there, but definitely one of my new favorites! :)

An incredible place with delicious food, been going here for about 10 years now and I've always been super satisfied with the quality of the cooking and the service has remained top notch. The manager Philip always greets us everytime we come in, we're pretty sure he recognizes us easily now seeing how much we stop by! If you're looking for a sweet treat or a savory burger with friendly staff then this is your place to stop by and pay a visit to. 20/10 would absolutely recommend! :-)

We like Steak N Shake because the fast food prices have gotten out of hand and this is one of the few places that isn’t too high. When we walked in we were greeted by the kitchen staff. We ordered at the kiosk and headed over to get our drink and a young man asked us if we knew how to use the soda machine. You need to scan the QR code to get the machine to work so don’t forget to grab that receipt when you use the kiosk! The same young man brought the food to our table instead of calling it out like they usually do. One thing I also noticed was the floor was not sticky! The floor usually is sticky or greasy on past visits. Our food was hot and fresh and it tasted like the fry oil was new. We were asked if our meal was good by two employees. They came around the dining room and got the trays and baskets from diners. If they ran this restaurant like this all of the time, I could see it doing well. We have never received this level of service. But if they want to compete with Shake Shack going in next door, they better up their game and keep the service like this. Not sure why the change in customer service but I hope it stays. On this particular trip, Philip M was the shining star of our visit.

Matthew and the team here are always doing a great job. We've been coming to this location for over 10 years because of the food and staff.

I've been ordering here for nearly 10+ years now and I can say I have never once been disappointed or dissatisfied with their service or food. Today I was blown away by whoever the cook was! I ordered a garlic steakburger with medium French fries and a Nutella shake, the order came out right as I arrived which was a pleasant surprise (I had ordered online!) And I can safely say that it's one of the best meals I have ever had the experience of tasting. The burger was savory and buttery, I added lettuce and tomato which totally upped the flavor experience and helped tone the salt on the burger down to the perfect level. It was absolutely delicious, this burger was definitely unlike any other burger despite trying everything on their menu. Whoever prepared my meal did incredible, thank you!

We tried this place one evening for dinner. We were greeted by Steven and Phil as soon as we entered. It had been awhile since we had been to a Steak n Shake. Phil guided us through the ordering process and made sure we were ordering exactly what we wanted. Once we finished ordering we sat down. Steven came by and asked if we needed any condiments or napkins. Steven brought us our napkins and condiments, a few minutes later Steven brought out our food. Steven and Phil check on us to make sure we were enjoying our experience. We found the restaurant clean as were the restrooms. The building is older and a little worn down from use but was very clean. We found that the employees were very friendly and helpful. The food was cooked to perfection and was so delicious. The shakes were fantastic. We will be returning again and again.

I haven't been here in years, but today I took my son out for lunch and we loved it. It got off to a rocky start when most of the tables were a bit dirty, but my expectations were low anyway given my previous experience with this restaurant. But I enjoy their little burgers and their thin french fries. As for today, the employees were extremely polite, the food came out very quickly, and it was delicious. Seriously, my western burger and cheese fries were amazing. So much so that I overlooked the table that we had to wipe down. I left with a smile and a full stomache. I'll be back more often after this trip.

This place can get very busy at any time of day and the servers can almost forget you are there sometimes. Still, the food is great and each style of hamburger is delicious. Their chili is also recommended and I try to put it on everything. Except the shakes...please not the shakes. They are good enough as is. A little too tall in my opinion though.

We've never be here before, but it was actually pretty good, patties are a bit thin, so I Definitely recommend getting a double meat- or even a triple, we all got the bacon double cheeseburger, the fries are thin but actually really good! I'm not one for getting shakes, but I tried it since that is what they are known for, I got the banana and it was really good! Not very sweet, and actually went well with my burger. It was good. The workers were friendly and the service was not slow. The order was not 100% what we ordered and we had to send it back twice but everyone was nice about it. I will say I do have one complaint and that is that the shakes are nowhere the quality that they were before. I ordered a Turtle Carmel nut shake as I always do with a chocolate base instead of vanilla where they put chocolate syrup in with the Vanilla Ice cream to make it more of a chocolate ice cream than a vanilla and when I got my shake there was maybe a. of chocolate in the ice cream was 98% vanilla and there was no Carmel in it at all. That is not the 1st time that the shakes were not very good. The other people in my parties shakes were also not what we had ordered.

I just had to try the beef tallow fries, they were Awesome! Better than the fries? The man taking drive through orders (I assume the manager because he was wearing a tie) was THE MOST pleasant and helpful person I’ve spoken to in a long time. Great job hiring such quality people, I will be back soon, your food and your people are really great.

The service was great! We went at night. The gentleman working was extremely nice and polite. He made sure we were taken care of the entirety of our visit. The burgers' meat seemed small. I know the meat is thin, but the meat seemed small around also. So, plan on a triple to get full.

I hadn't had a Frisco melt in a long time, and it was a little more greasy than I remember but it was good, the fries were nice and hot. The Banana shake always hits the spot.

It was my first time at Steak n Shake. Kudos to the patience of the employees who were outting up with my frequent attempts to use Google Pay. It was nice and oily like i like my fsst food usually lol but surprisingly it seemed dry-probably because there was no condiments or tomato in the burger. Fries were meh, worse than In-N-Out. Food was ready by the time i came to the window so really fast service. Will come back.

Another Great in American History reduced to a Kiosk.. I'll give the staff at the grill kudos for saying "hello welcome in".. I ordered food online. I went inside to pick up food when the app showed food was ready. The person in front of me got her food right away. I was left standing at the counter for over 5 minutes ignored by all employees. Finally, an employee asked if I needed something. I said yes my online order. He seemed confused and took several more minutes trying to figure out where my food was. It was in the pick-up order warmer. The inside of the restaurant was greasy and looked unkempt. The food was fairly good. I will not come back.

Drive thru food was kinda cold.... got a grilled cheese and the cheese was barely melted.... in the past it has been much better. Also a small shake is.... certainly small. Was a bit disappointed with how tiny it was.... I didn't want too much, but did want more than a couple sips....

Absolutely no one at this place except for the employees and me. 50% of the tables were greasy, the floor was terribly sticky, and the bathroom was disgusting🚽😖---the door didn't even close. For some reason, the dining room was closed and many guests just turned away. The help was disinterested at best and did the typical turn your fries upside down leaving them all in the bottom of your bag. They were also WAY oversalted. The food was fine, the tallow fries awesome as ever. We were hoping to sit down and have a nice time in the restaurant, but instead had to eat it in the car. It was unclear why it was closed, all looked fine through the window.

After today’s visit(9-16-25 @ 1:27p.m.) now I understand all the negative reviews.Some employee named Laone (dude with dreads)made our experience so negative that we left without our food! I guess from now on I’ll call before coming.That way I can get the kind , patient and competent employees again.

My family and I used to frequent this location quite often. But when moved a little further, we stopped. The last time (and all times before), this location was just awesome. Great atmosphere, customer service, and food. My wife and son and I decided to stop by since we were in the area. We walked in and it was almost a ghost town. The front counter was replaced with a kiosk and there wasn’t a worker in sight. We place our order via the kiosk and sit down. Five minutes later, our shakes were ready. Ten minutes after that our food. We get our burgers and notice there wasn’t any lettuce. Ok we thought, not worth addressing it. My order cheese on her fries. No cheese. So I took them to the counter and waited for someone to notice. Finally they did and pour liquid cheese on it and gave it back. I took a bite of mine, it was ok. Took another one and my wife said, is there bacon on there? No. I went back up there and again some happened to come out and brought me some bacon. By the time I dug into it, everything was cold. Will probably not come back if it keeps on this path.

The floors were dirty and sticky so were the tables and seats. The employees were wearing earphones so when we were trying to ask a question they didn't even hear us. It's completely self-service now for ordering and they've drastically cut down their menu. The milkshakes or icy like they had too much water in them and it was overall just an unpleasant experience. We used to love steak 'n shake.

So disappointed in this lunch. Ordered number 2 Not sure if that’s a jr or adult meal. The patty was so small and thin I threw out the top bun just to get the taste of the meat. This place used to be one of our favorite places. It was our go to with the kids before covid. From the outside the store looks completely closed. No happy greeters or customer service like before. Hate ordering on the confusing kiosk. We went inside to eat and was grossed out by the drips from the ceiling on our table. We changed tables, hurry an ate and decided that would be our last time there. It’s just so cold, boring and not the same any more.

Love the steakburgers, love the prices, nice and quiet. Edit: since I reviewed, close to when they first opened, I believe, everything has gone downhill. Prices have gone up, but that's the economy, and doesn't really count. I wondered why their food tasted duller, and discovered that their proprietary seasoning is no longer put on the burgers and fries in the kitchen (or if it is, it isn't noticeable), but comes in little packets to add yourself. There is no longer really any forward facing staff, there are kiosks instead , and a pick-up area where they call your name. So they reduced staff, but I bet they aren't paying the remainder any more. We kind of stopped for the nostalgia, but it's all been sucked away. Would no longer recommend.

Ordered a med lemonade and a Frisco melt. The Frisco melt was all sauce and very little burger. In the past the sandwich was cut in half but at this place. I started to leave and realized they gave me no straw. I had to back up and request a straw

Our food tasted great, but we were very disappointed when we walked in and noticed they now have touch screen kiosks where you have to order your food. It completely contradicts the retro feel that Steak 'n Shake used to represent! So sad.

Talk about disappointment! I haven't eaten at S&S in years, and I have always had good memories. This location proves that these companies are sucking the soul out of everything. First, they have absolutely NO cashiers. As a matter of fact, there was only one employee that we had any interaction with. The manager greeted us at the door to tell us where the kiosks are and that only one kiosk accepted cash. The location was very clean, but that wasn't surprising since there was only one other customer dining there. Ordering was simple enough. However, it took longer than Whataburger to get our food. Once we got it, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was COLD. We had been there long enough that it wasn't worth the effort to have them make the entire order over again. The entire experience reminded me as to why we enjoy eating at In & Out, Chick-fil-A, or Freddy's. A friendly smile and kind interactions go a long way. But then again, so does decent food that's actually fresh and warm.

While I realize things are becoming more automated these days this just goes TOO FAR! They have no registers, only kiosks to order and pay for your food. Amazingly after I did all the work myself it asked me to add a tip! For what?!?! We also had to fill our own drinks and bus our own tables. Just what would I be tipping for? Bathrooms were also in serious need of cleaning. Food was good though! But to be honest not good enough for me to come back here. Just not impressed.

Service has gone downhill. No one greets you and you have to get everything yourself. You have to order from an automated kiosk system, then seat yourself. No server at the tables or counter service, and you have to pick up your order from the window when it's ready. Staff do not speak to customers at all. The whole place is dirty: lobby, tables, floor, bathrooms, drink area. It takes a while to get your meal, despite very few or no customers. The garlic steakburger and shoestring fries still have the same delicious taste, and the shakes are very good. Doesn't feel like much of a restaurant when you have to get everything yourself and try to catch an employee's attention when you need something. The old fashioned diner vibe that made the place special is gone, and it's no longer 24 hour. Steak 'n Shake is just another hamburger joint.

Haven't been here in years but it's changed a lot. First you don't get greeted anymore by smiling staff to seat you and take your order. You have to order from phone or Kiosk. No way around it they will not take your order. The staff has like no interaction with you. The drink area is run down and dirty and so is the lobby and bathrooms. This place is dead all the time and I see why. Food is still good, it's better to take it to go. The old fashioned vibe they use to gave is gone.

The food was good but this location should have better drive through customer service. If the person taking the order doesn’t want to work here they should find another job. Last time coming here.

We ordered at 1:33. At 1:51 they were just putting our order on the grill. Our shakes are pretty much gone. The high chairs were all disgusting. I Had to clean one so we could use it. So disappointed at having to order from a kiosk. Having been eating at Steak and Shake since the 70s I’m not likely be back. Kitchen area stinks really bad. Poor form

My family and I (4 of us) went there for breakfast before I had to go to work. I was pleased because there were only about 4-5 tables seated so I knew there wouldn't be much of a wait. We went in already knowing what we wanted so when the lady came to get our drink order we went ahead and placed our order too. 45 minutes went by and still no food and we had only been checked on once to see if we needed refills (which we did and we needed again) I finally found our waitress and asked for more drinks and how much longer it was going to be. She checked with the kitchen and said that it would only be a couple minutes more. 20 more minutes go by with no food or update. I then needed to leave for work so I had to leave there very upset and hungry. It took another 15 minutes for my family to receive their food and even though she apologized for the wait, we still had to pay for my meal (that I wasn't even there to eat) as well as full price for our meal. I'm not asking for a big discount but something to make up for the horrible service we had there. Needless to say we will NEVER be going back.

Service was horrible! And that's putting it nicely. Waited more than 1/2 an hour and still no food. Restaurant was lot and full of screaming kids. They had plenty of staff but obviously didn't know what they were doing. They were confused as to whose food was whose. Manager was just standing around instead of trying to be helpful. We got up to leave and told her why. She apologized and told us we didn't have to pay for our drinks but you could tell she just didn't care. This was our first and last time there. We left and went to Dodges where we both ordered and ate our food in the amount of time we waited without even getting our food here.

This is probably my 1st review where I have to report a very low result.. I am in the top 10% of restaurant reviewers on Google and I just wanted to say the Burgers me and my family ate at Steak & Shake were very low quality, cold and no flavor.. We were really disappointed. We won't be going back unless it is for a Shake which my daughter liked a lot (Nutella Flavor.)

The waiting time is ridiculous. The onion rings were burned. It took over 45 minutes to get our dinner.

After sitting in the dine in area for 15 minutes waiting on service we decided to go to the drive through area. Worst decision ever. First it took forever for the boy taking our order to actually take it. It’s obvious that he has too many things going on and the entire establishment is under staffed. I had a similar experience the last time we came several months ago If not longer. We’ve now been sitting in the line for 30 minutes and been moved to the front of the store. If I had not already paid we would have just left. The lady from the car in front of me just got out of her car to go inside to complain I’m sure. I will not be long behind her at this point. Really disappointed with the lack of service. Sincerely Shamefully disappointed customer.

Long 🚗 from North Little Rock, AR. Needing some nourishment brie heading 🏡. Never been to Steak n Shake, sooo why the hell not. Ordered a simple combo, no onion no cheese cause that's how you eat a 🍔. They didn't seem busy, oarking lot was rather empty and no cars in front of me but ine pulled behind me. Speaking the drive thru attendant I had to say excise me several times because he wouldnt speak up, strike #1. I received my order and about a minute after pulling of I decided to try the 🍟, warm amd slightly cold, strike #2 but I I had already commited and was needing my 🛌. 👌so, I did substitiute my drink for a shake after all its part of the name ...! A simple 🍓 milk shake... How the does M&M's end up in it ...?!!? Oh, and before myborder was delivered I have to pull forward to service the car behing me ...? He pulles off after getting his meal then backed up to the window to talk to them again, assuming they screwed up his order, then pulled around and parked and went inside to give them a piece of his mind, assuming. Now I'm 🏡 amd the 🍔. It was tasty to say the least but lacking in meatiness, if that's a word. Flat, almost bridle, almost not worth it but that got the part of my order right that mattered, mustard instead of mayo or ketchup...! And the 🍟, thw good thing about that you could tell the aren't frozen and/or made with peanut oil or something. Most likely won't visit this location again but will try another and hope for a better experience. Maybe I was already cranky from my business trip ...? Maybe because I don't eat fast/casual/junk food on a regular...?

This one needs a lesson from the one in Frisco. That one is awesome! They are not friendly here and it's depressing!

About 130pm no one in line and nobody at the counter, view a man near the kitchen area he saw me and then turn back away ? Saw the kiosk at counter but wanted to ask a question . It’s been over two years since when been here and it’s sad that customer service especially here in ROCKWALL has diminished

Burgers were flat and dry with not much flavor. Chili fries were soggy, unseasoned fries with bland cheese and beans, nothing else. Onion rings were bland and soggy. Birthday cake shake was just cream and sprinkles, didn't even have that birthday cake flavor to it.

80% of the parking lot was closed for coming event. Ordered double combo. Received bun, single patty with cheese. Service was not very friendly. Probably just this location. No time to go back and get what I paid for.

Terrible,absolutely the worst experience ever but nothing that hasnt been covered by the other reviews here. Update: we gave it another chance,stopped in with my son on his birthday he ordered the butter burger....it had what looked like a half a stick of butter under the top bun!! Like it was still in the shape of the stick!!! Is this normal?? And the "grilled onions" were burnt black. This place still sucks but it went to another level this time

Im at a loss for words. When is enough enough. I guess growing up watching Sci-fi movies about robots and the future was just such a far fetched idea back then, but sadly its now a reality. You walk into "Steak and Shake" and there are no more workers to take your order, its all on a screen. No more human reaction, just 2 employees flipping burgers in the back thinking that there jobs are secure until they start making Robots to replace them too. After a long process of finally doing my own order, now they want me to "tip them" on the screen? Why? For the remarkable conversation I had with the computer screen? Anyway after that, you have to get your own drink now, but there's a catch. You have to SCAN your receipt to turn on the fountain drink machine. This place has completely eliminated workers. When will we realize that human reactions will always be the best. I guess replacing everyone with computers and robots is the best answer for everything though right??? Also there is no more fry sauce I was informed by 1 out of the 2 burger flippers, he looked at me dumb when I even suggested it. I dont even know how this place is still around. All I know is that the founders of STEAK and SHAKE would be rolling over in their GRAVES if they saw how they do business now.

What a pain the overall process is, not worth the effort. Wendy’s makes a better shake. This visit was my second and my last.

We stopped in after a doctor's appointment. The kiosk wasn't working properly, floor is very oily and water coming out of the ceiling. We placed our order received our food but not our shakes before being told we have to take our to go. Then they the shakes which mine has mildew on the cup. We are trying to get our money back. We live an hour away to take food home. I do not recommend this place at all. HORRIBLE

The food is ok, not terrible, but nothing I’ll rave about. The have the shoe string fries, but they aren’t the best. My son liked the hot dog. Their menu is not clear, and they force you to order yourself on a screen. Then have the audacity to prompt you for a tip. They charge you for sauce, not extra, just if you get any. I got my kids two shakes, assuming they would be the same size. They were not, and this caused a big problem for my little ones. Our entire trip here was very frustrating, and I would not recommend this location to anyone.

If I could do less than 1 star I would. We should have trusted our instincts- when we would drive by and see no cars in the parking lot!

I am heartbroken to write this review. This USED to be a location with PEOPLE and CUSTOMER SERVICE. ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PLACES. These MACHINES and KIOSKS TAKE AWAY from what made establishments like this special. The menu has shrunk and is a convoluted mess on a virtual menu. Where is the human interaction? Where is the customer service? The lack of human interaction and a smile taking my order but a cold, heartless machine and knowing good and well how many cashiers are losing jobs to this kind of business model SICKENS me to the core. This will be most likely my last meal outside maybe a blue moon UberEATS order; what's the point in coming when the environment, the people that greeted you with a smile and made it great are gone? I feel betrayed as a long time patron. Stake and Shake no longer feels like an old time diner it feels like a shadow of its former self. It also seems rather empty in here at 2 P.M. on a Saturday and I think this may genuinely be why. I firmly believe, and I'm sure so many others out there feel the same way whether they are vocal or not, all companies that choose this model will eventually lose a whole lot of business. I'm very sad as Stake and Shake held a lot of good memories for me, especially in past staff interaction; if I wanted my food by just a conveyer belt I could have gone to McDonald's instead. If you want a soulless experience, and to not be bothered, this is definitely the place for you. The food is still good, but I won't visit this location again. I remember when there were servers, with a hands on experience from the staff - when no matter what time if the day I came in, even over night, there were customers, many. Now, the dining room is usually empty... Nobody to take your order - even at the counter - you place it on a device... Your order is then placed on a counter counter, name called over the loud speaker, and then they are gone. Employees don't even make sure with you that there's nothing else you need... A $16, one meal order and, not even somebody to make your non-refillable drink, with a qr code to scan in order to get your drink, that puts an exact amount and then stops, and you can't restart it... And the system has the gall to ask for a tip... if the very few employees they carry aren't getting paid enough, then that's on the company. It's too bad that the extremely few times I've been here over the past 5 years or so, have been so extremely uncomfortable. I keep hoping that something would change... but I won't any more. Today was my final Frisco burger, at least from this location...

Nurbo (NURBO)

The food here is great I’ll give them that. But let me tell you. I work a lot so I frequently use Uber Eats. This restaurant will cancel my order and then accept it when I place it again. Almost like if to mess with me. Maybe it’s a glitch so I resort to going in person. One day they tell me they have no internet so only accepting cash. What is this??? The stone ages??? Very next day. These people tell me they aren’t accepting Apple Pay. In big 2025. Steak and shake isn’t accepting Apple Pay? Unacceptable.

In the last month we’ve came twice, and both time there’s always something wrong. Today they said fryers aren’t working. The other time they said we could not dine-in. We enjoy steak and shake, but this location sucks.
