Always a great meal at Spaghetti Factory. You always get a consistent quality of the food.
Staff was amazing and accommodating. We came in late to eat and everyone was so nice. Our waitress was very helpful. Food was so good. The atmosphere was very laid back and the trolly was so interesting. We had the fettuccine alfredo with the cheesy garlic bread. We washed it down with Italian sodas and got the glass for a keepsake! Prices were very affordable. Will be back !
I dont think I've been here in 20 years until my 5 year old said she needed spaghetti last Friday night. Then I remembered the train car and thought we would try it. 1st off it looks the same in a good way and the food was pretty good. Great that you still get yummy bread at the beginning and yummy ice cream at the end. Was a very happy and lovely experience for us all. The safe qas awesome and warm to my little one. We will be back!
What can I say about the ole Old Spaghetti Factory? Everything was on point. Just as before, consistently consistent Bonus- a nice size 3 loco motive train chugged on by through midtown just as we got our food. It sure does add to the ambiance of the old train station. The tracks are literally 8 feet or so from the building. If you're ever in Sacramento and you have a hankerin for some carbs you should go! Cheers, Amy
We visited Spaghetti Factory tonight at the perfect moment and had the best experience in our 30 years of coming here! The food was outstanding—bursting with nostalgia that took us right back to our childhood family trips. The service was quick, attentive, and went above and beyond to make it special for our daughter. For the first time in three decades, we sat in the street cart, which they opened up just for her to enjoy—it was such a delightful touch. Everything about this visit rekindled our love for Spaghetti Factory and made it a truly unforgettable night.
A staple in the mid/downtown Sacramento landscape, this OSF has all the charm and class of even the finest of dining establishments. On this visit we sat at the bar. Felt very welcomed and accepted from the jump. Decent pour on the drinks. Nothing at all to complain about. Had the. Tapenade and cheese sticks for appetizers. :chefs kiss: The Mrs had brown butter and mizithra This is where I had an issue. The “jumbo” lobster and crab ravioli sounded amazing. But it was VERY fishy tasting. Like too fishy. But having other dishes before I know this is unlikely. So please go to OSF and enjoy but maybe skip the ravioli

Always a favorite! Just good simple Italian food in large portions! We always order the managers special and love the ice cream that comes with!

For the price, OSF (Old Spaghetti Factory) does not get much better. We applaud their relentless focus on pasta and spaghetti, and not veering off into "random" dishes like the Cheesecake Factory or TGI Fridays has. OSF, despite being a chain, retains its class and dignity. I haven't been to OSF for almost 2 decades... and during our recent visit to Sacramento, we thought it'd be a great place to dine with the entire family. We were in the mood for some good pasta, and OSF did not disappoint. The classic mizithra and brown butter pasta was slightly dry... but very flavorful. The meat sauce was just perfect, both the noodles and the sauce. The fetuccine with clam sauce was also solid. Considering how much pasta this place serves, I'm presuming they are not hand-pulling the noodles. However, the strands were solid and we left satisfied. The tiramisu dessert was a bit off as it was frozen. The salad also seemed to have been prepared ahead of time - the greens had lost a bit of their rigidity. Even so, we had a wonderful time at OSF. The meatballs on the side were also great and filled with flavor. On this particular night of our visit, the service was absolutely horrible. I understand they were busy but it was absolute chaos. Our server barely showed his face, put in wrong orders twice, and delivered us one meatball instead of 3. We had asked for extra utensils and plates which he also forgot. Again, the service was a disaster but it does not seem like this should happen given each day is really packed. I'm leaving it at 4 stars just because OSF has stayed truthful to the art and science of great pasta. And at that price point, we would visit again in a heartbeat.
I went into The Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Sacramento not really sure what to expect, especially since it is a chain. I was honestly surprised in the best way. The gluten free spaghetti was genuinely good. The pasta had a great texture and did not feel like a substitute. On top of that, the gluten free sauce options were flavorful and satisfying, not bland or watered down. That alone made the visit worth it for me. This is not a fancy place and it is not trying to be. What it does really well is deliver a solid meal quickly, in a comfortable casual setting, at a price that feels more than fair. I got seated fast, the service moved efficiently, and the food came out quickly without feeling rushed in a negative way. Everything felt smooth and well paced, which is exactly what you want when you are hungry and just trying to get a reliable meal downtown. The biggest highlight was the value. The price to quality ratio is perfect. You get good portions, consistent food, and a gluten free option that feels like a real meal, not an afterthought. Eating gluten free while traveling can be hit or miss, so it was a relief to find a spot where I could order pasta and actually enjoy it from the first bite to the last. Overall, I left completely satisfied and I would absolutely come back. If you are in the area and want a dependable meal with a legitimately good gluten free pasta option, this place is an easy choice.
The decor is fun, and I really liked the tram. I think maybe they were understaffed. We waited quite a while for the hostess to greet us and take our name. We also had to wait a long time for the check, the cash register, and then the payment. But overall, we liked it there.
The best part was Madison. She was a wonderful server. She did such a wonderful job and was absolutely great at this point considering how much you have to spend on food you better feel like you get some value for your dollar and about the only way that’s gonna happen is if you have a server who treats you well and makes you feel like you came to a place and had a great time with friends
The servers were very friendly. The food was very good and we were able to use a birthday coupon which made our meals a good value. I love that the building is an old railroad building. The decor is fun and I love the trolley. I think the place was possibly understaffed. We waited a while for a hostess to greet us and put our name down. It took a very long time to wait for the check, a box, and then for them to take our payment. But overall, we had an enjoyable experience here.
we were warmly welcomed and received good service. the atmosphere was very pleasant and quiet (we were late in the restaurant and there weren't many people around). after ordering, there is warm bread with butter - that was great. the menus (spaghetti + lasagne) came with a salad, which tasted delicious. the spaghetti also tasted very good. the tomato sauce for the lasagna had an extraordinary amount of flavor, which i thought was great. unfortunately, the lasagna was not seasoned enough, which is a shame. for this reason, i give it 4 stars. otherwise, i would recommend this restaurant.
I like the atmosphere. First time being in this place. They had a good selection of pasta to pick from. The lunch deal was good. The caesar salad was good, should have added chicken to it. The Rich meat sauce I picked was decent. Felt it was missing more basil or oregano in it to me. I ordered a margarita. It has a subtle hint of lime, and didn't bite even though you could taste the tequila.
Food is pretty consistent and not bad. Service seems to have gone downhill a bit. Wait staff are okay and friendly for the most part, but hostesses don't seem to like their job.

Nice place, good service, but please bring back the individual lasagna boats. They were SO much better.

Last night we went to Old Spaghetti Factory for a date night - we love the atmosphere there with the lights, the old world style, the relaxed vibe and at first it did not disappoint. The front host was friendly and sat us quickly as it wasn't too busy. We got a nice table and settled in...from there it declined. In the window sill next to our table there was a thick layer of dust made even more noticeable by the drawing someone had done in it. We had a smug waitress who was training a new waitress (we gove he credit for trying hard and being very friendly). We asked for another minute before taking our drink order which was a mistake because it was close to 10 minutes before they came back to take our order, and then waited at least another 10 minutes before our drinks came, which we had to ask for a couple of times (we were told the bartender was "working on it" - for thr record, we ordered wine). We ended up getting our salad and bread at the same time which was before our wine. They apparently changed the recipe of the bread...almost more of a bland wheat bread than sourdough. Our food was overall tasty, but the meat in thr lasagna was mealy. Someone dropped a tray with salads making a huge clatter and sending dressing flying across the main walkway. Accidents happen of course, but we were amazed at the lack of ownership there was to clean up the slipping hazard made by the dressing. A busboy walked around looking at it with a rag in his hand giggling like he didn't know what to do. Wait staff were coming and going looking at it but not taking action. We got a front row show watching customers walking through wondering if they were going to step in it mmaking the mess bigfer, or even worse slipping on the already slippery floor. Someone finally came out with the first "mop" which was more like a swiffer which left a big streak of oil which sti seemed like a slipping hazard. Finally a man stepped up with paper towels and did thr clean up and finally set out a caution cone. From our vantage point, there were lots of wait staff but most of them were training which is literally shadowing someone, rather than having the trainer give instructions such as "hey while I go and take water to this table how about you bring bread to the other table...". It just seems like a very inefficient model and could definitely use some good management to observe and realize that looking busy running around doesn't equal efficiency. The one positive is that the girl being trained was very friendly and we hope she does well. We left for our concert and though we didn't let this experience ruin our night by any means we were disappointed that we lost a place that we couple always count on for quality, ambience good food and cleanliness...we have no desire to go back. I truly hope this is seen as an example of a need for change and that management looks for ways to bring it back to the quality it used to be. And if nothing else, maybe they will clean the window sills :)
This is my second time coming to this location. My first time was a few years ago. Walking in they have these huge double doors that makes me feel like I’m going somewhere exotic. As soon as you come inside, the lobby area is nice with some fancy comfy looking chairs. I arrived at 9 PM on a Friday night and was seated promptly. I asked if we could sit on the train and they were able to accommodate us. We sat in the seat all the way in the back and it is kind of hard to get into. There is one pole on each side that you have to fit through. If you’re a bigger person this would not be comfortable at all. The server gave us our menus and didn’t come back until about 15 or 20 minutes later. By then she took our order and promptly came back with our drinks and some bread. Just because you’re hungry don’t make the mistake I made and munch a whole lot of bread!! I ordered the meat lovers treat. Which consists of Sicilian Meatballs, Italian Sausage and Spaghetti with Meat sauce. For a total of $21.99. The meatballs were warm from the outer layer and were pretty cold on the inside. I was a bit disappointed by that because I really like the meatballs from OSP. The sausage on the other hand was actually warm, but the taste wasn’t all there. The ambience inside the train is kind of dark. They have some lights, but they are dark. I don’t mind it, but I know some people do so I just thought I’d put that out there.
Went today and they apparently stopped doing the garlic butter + regular butter duo with the bread. Or possibly they were out, I didn't ask. They also didn't have the physical paper kids menu with …
Service was excellent and the ambience is pleasant but the food is average to poor. I had lasagne that lacked any kind of creaminess and cooked quickly to lukewarm like it had been microwaved.

The food wasn't good, our server (younger one) was amazing and sweet .. they did have one there that had a soured look on her face like she didn't want to be there... And was ONLY bringing out bread so it wasn't necessary to be so rude. It is nostalgia for the environment, but the food was definitely subpar. I ordered the shrimp Alfredo and the sauce was so scarce it was just over cooked noodles with 6 shrimp. My nephew got chicken picatta and all the noodles were clumped together like it was stirred when put it in the water... And the chicken was soggy. Definitely not what you expect for a 380.00 plus 85.00 tip!
When we entered, it was like they couldn't see us and wanted to seat people who came in after us. 1st red flag. Once we were finally seated and saw the menu, it was a huge let down. The server was super sweet, but we decided to get our food to go then went and ate somewhere else. We put the spaghetti away! Once I did try it the following day, I was so disappointed. Spaghetti is my favorite food of all. My granny made an amazing Spaghetti, so eating this stuff was offensive to me. Dry noodles that were stuck together, you'd think they'd use some olive oil to combat this when cooking it! There was not enough meat sauce to coat all of the dry noodles and the taste was just bad! Maybe it wasn't meant for me to even go here. I'd been planning to for so long, nearly 2 decades and finally get here and it was let down central. One and done.

I ordered online the Tortellini dinner, a salad with Thousand Island dressing, and about an hour, and a half later I was vomiting up my dinner. When I called the manager, Eric, to let him know about this. He told me that he had the "exact same dinner," and he did not get sick. How convenient is it for the manager to say he had the same dinner, as me to avoid any responsibility!? This was not the first time I have eaten there, but it will certainly be the last!
I went in a couple of weeks ago and we had a server named Juliia and she was attentive at first and then seemed to disappear for lengths of time when we needed her. The food and beverages were excellent as the hosts and other worker stepped up and got us some sodas and refills but the restaurant its self isn’t to blame. But when I do return I wouldn’t ever want her as my server. I would rather order Togo. UPDATE: My siblings and grandmother went in on a Sunday after a monster truck show or some sort of preformance at golden 1 - and were unlucky and seemed to have been seated with Julia or Juliia again. I heard the back the same things I experienced along with them having to flag down other staff to grab things. Honorable mentions those staff who brought out the food and sat them as they didn’t have reservations. Excellent service from the rest of the staff but a terrible experience with the server once again. Very disappointing….
The food is really good. All the employees really nice and friendly. The only problem with walking outside. You can smell the sewage from the building you go into the bathrooms. Reeks like sewage my 3-year-old couldn't go to the bathroom he was gagging and throwing up it becaus it smelt so bad. My wife was saying the same thing in a women's bathroom. Because of the restrooms and sewage smells in there, we will not be going back until we see reviews of a repair.
Unfortunately was disappointed with the food quality we ordered in from here. Parsley covered every dish. Two pasta dishes were so dry that we had to add jarred alfredo sauce at home. The Sicilian Garlic Cheese Bread was so oily that we couldn't eat it and they forgot the dipping sauce. Also the portions are super small for $25 ish per entree. I spent over $100 in total for 3 of us and just to be sad and still hungry. Not in this economy! Please do better.
