Opinions de Lotus Leaf San Leandro
Excellent choice for vegetarians. I had the yellow curry and the shrimp spring rolls - very tasty. Would recommend…
The food is great! We are a mixed group (meat and vegan eaters). They have food for all that is so good. At many restaurants meatless dishes are just not good!! At the Lotus They are great. I love the Lemon Grass pork (i eat meat). Prices are very good.
This is a hidden gem that deserves more recognition! I went there on a whim during work. It wasn’t too busy which was nice. The yellow curry was the tastiest curry I think I’ve ever had. Not too heavy on the flavor, but no bland/watery flavor. The fried rice had slightly burnt pieces which I actually LOVED—it elevated the flavor. Won’t be the last they’ll see of me!
Lotus Leaf is simply delicious! You’re getting quality, home-cooked food every time. My partner, girlfriend, and I have been regulars ever since we discovered them last month, and they never disappoint. Their chicken egg rolls with sweet sauce are incredible, and the pork rice paper rolls were so good we ordered them twice in one weekend. The pho is perfect for a rainy night, comforting and well-balanced without being overly salty. Their curry is rich, flavorful, and expertly done. And the Thai tea? My partner might have an unhealthy addiction to it—especially since they offer it with coconut milk. Game changer. I honestly can’t rave enough about this place! Highly recommend!
Really great spot, highly recommend! Lots of vegetarian options and everything was so good! Staff was very friendly and super sweet. Will be back again
Lotus Leaf is a fantastic Vietnamese restaurant with generous portions and consistently fresh, flavorful food. Their noodles are a standout, always cooked to perfection. They also offer great vegetarian options, making it a great choice for all diners. Whether you're craving a classic Vietnamese dish or a delicious meat-free meal, this place never disappoints. Highly recommended!
Best local Vietnamese teriyaki chicken sandwiches at $6.50 a pop. Teriyaki chicken is juicy, bun is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and stuffed with carrots, jalapenos, avocado, tomato, with lettuce & herbs. Staff is friendly & indoor atmosphere is richly decorated. A nice spot for dinner after heading to Wednesday night Downtown farmer's market. Vegetarian options are as plentiful & tasty, with a whole page of the menu dedicated to veg-versions of dishes.
The food is fresh, tasty and made by a real person. A real San Leandro gem. I eat here almost weekly because I have never had a bad dish here. Everything is good and the vegan options are delicious and plentiful. The people who works here are also so kind and care about their customers. Can't wait to eat here again!
Great place! Near and clean. Delicious food and great service! Highly recommend!
Great place to get a vegan bahn mi. I've gone here a few times and the food is always really good. The stir fried rice is Not vegan and comes with egg pieces mixed in. It's also pretty greasy. $12 for 4 egg rolls and $16 for a sandwich is pretty expensive. I ordered online and it was over $30, not including tip.
Delicious pork bahn mi, the avocado & tomato were a nice surprise! Everyone is so friendly & the atmosphere is exquisite
Literally my fave place to eat in SL! cozy lighting, no music, good prices & yummy food & nice staff. :) I always get the tofu & mushroom banh mi and thai iced tea which you can get with coconut milk instead of half and half if ur lactose intolerant!
Great Vietnamese restaurant! I love the spring rolls but everything is good tasting.
Tried their Vietnamese sandwich, or banh mi, here and loved it. The bread was crunchy and they added fresh avocado in their veggie, a big big plus. So convenient when we were in a run and want a quick bite. I was looking for something to eat before heading to BART station. The portion was enough to keep me feel full for the day. The restaurant’s atmosphere was quite cozy and nice. It would be a lovely place to come back if I have time next time.
Perfect mix of good food without the hassle and price of a fancy meal. They have a diverse menu - and don’t just limit it to the predictable few Vietnamese dishes you can find anywhere. The vermicelli bowl sauce isn’t too vinegar-y and the portion sizes are generous! The Beef noodles were rich and fatty and delicious. Highly recommend!
I live in San Jose and am up here for work 2-3 times a month. I never noticed this spot as I've been going to the one down the street for a while...but wow I'll be coming back. Some of the BEST pho I've had, broth was so rich and flavourful, wide noodles, and generous portions of meat as pictured.
An authentic Vietnamese restaurant in downtown San Leandro. Food was flavorful and served hot in pretty good portions. Bo Kho noodle soup was fantastic! Lovely atmosphere too. Plenty of parking spaces right at the side of the resto. Too bad they increased their prices though. Still, would definitely come back!
Highly recommend!! 10/10 for quality of food, service, & ambiance. I got the steak pho, pork chop with fried rice, and spring rolls, and they were all so delicious! All the dishes had balanced flavors that tasted homemade and not overly salty or greasy. The service was also so warm and attentive. The owners actually take the time to chat and get to know you, so it really adds a personal touch and makes the whole place feel welcoming. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great Vietnamese food in San Leandro!
Our visit to this establishment was solely to grab some bah mi sandwiches to go. They wrapped them up beautifully, and added a cute logo sticker on the wrapping—a nice touch! I also indulged in their Thai tea, which was delicious, especially after a bit of extra sweetener was added to perfection. However, I was surprised by an additional ten cents charge for each plastic bag used. While understandable, it would have been appreciated to be informed upfront about this charge to avoid any surprises. It's always helpful for customers to know about such charges in advance to make informed decisions. Overall, great sandwiches and tea, but transparency about charges would improve the experience.
Their grilled meat fresh roll here is excellent. They give you generous serving. Their spicy soup BBH is also delicious. Broth was very tasty. I also ordered their egg roll and shrimp vermicelli which was also very tasty. Been coming here a handful times now and food has been consistent. Family owned. Service is excellent. Ambiance decor is very nice and high end. They offer private parking and accommodates about a dozen cars but also plenty of street parking. Highly recommend.
Update 08Dec2025: Checked price for my favorite combination pho soup before go to the Lotus Leaf for lunch today. Price doubled! A year ago I payed 16-17$ with tax and tips. Today I see 25$. With tax and tips it will be at least 32$. 2 times more!!! Sorry, I am not ready to pay this bill for reqular routine lunch. Very regret to lose nice place... Review long time ago: Nice place and delicious Combination pho soup. Back to this place again and again. Love it!
Nice small restaurant with nice atmosphere and people. The food is good and reasonably priced. We ordered the Lotus Leaf #1 appetizer and it’s a great value for $17 where it includes spring rolls, egg rolls, and a papaya salad. When it came to the table, my kids could resist going for the speeding roll immediately. It’s also nice they have an entire vegetarian section. We tried the vegetarian Mongolian beef and it was good. Very flavorful but a little salty. Would be fine over some rice. Definitely plan on coming back. Next time I’ll try their Pho.
Cute lowkey Vietnamese spot to bring a “friend” without dealing with a huge crowd. Service was great and fast. I had the lemon grass pork vermicelli which was flavorful and delicious. Definitely coming back!

Solid 4 stars w plenty of vegan options. We ordered the vegan orange chicken and curry tofu clay pot. I found the curry tofu clay pot little too spicy w slightly bitter finish , the curry was not smooth. Friend had the orange chicken and he said it was ok, I did not try it tho. The food was very reasonably prices and the server was very attentive. We also ordered the Vietnamese ice tea and the restaurant had coconut milk. CC accepted
Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. My wife ordered their chicken pho and I ordered their grilled pork chop rice plate. The pork chop was grilled nicely and charred just the way I like it. However, a good part of the pork chop was pure fat. The pho was above average. The broth and noodles were nice, but the chicken was a bit on the dry side. I would rate the food 3.5 out of 5. Service was fast and friendly. Prices were reasonable. An overall positive experience.
Food was good. Quality of meat for the pho was great. Noodles are different from the usual thin noodles I get elsewhere. Unfortunately there’s only one server working the room so service was slow during lunch. Price is a little high for the portions
Don't know why I didn't stop at this place sooner! It's located in a residential street a couple of blocks down from the busier commercial area. It's across from Palen martial arts, more or less. The food was great. We liked everything we had. Thought the pineapple rice could have more flavor, but that wasn't a big deal since everything else was so good, including the pink lemonade. Must try the dessert! Service was great. The ladies were very attentive. Adding this place to our restaurant rotation.
this restaurant is pretty okay! more like a hidden gem really,,,, not the prettiest nor the cleanest, but the food is super good!! would recommend 8/10
This my wife and my first time eating here. This is first time dining in since the the state opened up on June 15th. Pros: This is definitely a laid back restaurant. The food is hot, fresh and tasty! We also added the hot jasmine green tea to drink (not pictured) Cons: The customer service can stand some improvement. One person was working up front seating people. My wife and I came in 2nd after someone else was getting take out. Then it got busier so the person was working alone with 3 other parties. Taking a while to follow through with taking our payment after giving us to go boxes, then didn't get us a bag after my wife aske, seems it was tough to multi task for this person. I will still recommend to my friends and family.
I been here a couple of times already. Great healthy food and overall the place is really clean. I wish I can give it a 5 star but service needs work. The papaya salad is really good and of course Vietnamese Coffee
Fast service, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The yellow curry was good, but a few other dishes had a hint of freezer flavor to the meat
Nice vietnamese food in the neighborhood. The spring rolls are delicious. The pho broth is awesome and the noodles are perfectly cooked. The meat in the soup could be more tender.

I come here about 4-5 times a month but I'm not going to come as often due to the inconsistent service and food. There were two female students (Tara) who were great! They knew customers by name, our orders and how we like the food prepared. The woman made the BEST limeade!!! Now, the students are GONE and the woman only works on Wednesday for the dinner hour. I like consistency in food and service. The limeade now tastes like sour water, the service level is not the same and my orders are inconsistent. I think I'll stay away until the students come back and the women with the smile who makes the BEST LIMEADE comes back full-time. I'd feel better about spending $50-$100 each visit., 💯🙄
Ordered Yellow Curry with prawns and fried rice. It tasted decent, but the curry was more soupy than I expected. And in the end. I was left with more potatoes than the prawns (which seemed more like shrimp). Overall, not bad. But left feeling not really satiated. And also, not feeling it was worth the price.

We ordered online for pickup on 12/19/21 and we were maybe 5 minutes later than the official pickup time. It didn't matter because apparently the order didn't go through anyway in their system. They started to scramble because our order wasn't ready so we told them we'd just dine in instead (which is cheaper.) Somehow they had our order but just hadn't made it, as we didn't get menus, but they still brought us the foods we choose eventually. The spring rolls are not gluten free as they have fried crispy bits that I didn't notice until I took a bite. My husband ended up eating them because I have Celiac and can't eat gluten, which would be in the crispy bits. I had brisket pho and I could see that they sprinkled ground pepper over the top, which I've never seen before. The broth was really mediocre and that's the first time I've not finished a bowl of pho from a restaurant. I don't think I'd recommend this place for pho specifically.

First time here based on the high rating reviewed, we ordered 2 noodles and one spring rolls. During the checkout, we were told the total bill of $38.82 without seeing the bill. My wife's good with the number and asked for a bill, she then apologized for adding $1.5 on the bill. Make sure you ask for the bill, also, this place does not accept credit cards, they gave us some excuses the credit card machine only accepts certain Visa cards. We have tried Chase and BOA without any luck and ended up paying cash. Based on the fake reviews and trying to cheat us on the bill, no one going back this place !!
Very rude and impersonal waitress/hostess. I went for a on-line pick up order. When I walked in, there were no customers. A young hostess looked at me with no greeting, no smile and said nothing. I politely told her "for pick up". She just looked at me with no expression and said nothing. So I repeat "pick up" again. Still, she just looked at me. So I told her my name and she finally stood up from the table she was sitting and walked toward the counter. She then punched something on the computer screen and turned into kitchen for my order. As she bring out the order with a plastic bag, the conversation went like this: Me: "oh, I don't need to bag". She: " I charge you for the bag already" Me: "you don't ask if I need a bag first?" She: "No, we don't ask that"; "Do you want the bag?" Me: " No, I don't want the bag" She: "you paid 10 cents, do you still want the bag?" Me: "No, I don't need the bag" At all time, this person has no expression, as cold as ice, rude and totally unpleasant. I think I had another experience with her once and was not pleasant either. But I thought they might have different hostess this time. I was wrong. Their food was actually decent and I had some good experience in the past when a different waitress/hostess was very polite and welcoming. But it has been going down since a few years ago. I see less and less customers in the restaurant. I thought to give an other chance, but this experience is totally rude and unpleasant. I will not go here anymore, and I advise you not to waste your money here. There are other Vietnamese restaurants downtown San Leandro that are more pleasant and welcoming!
We had a large party of 7 mostly kids we came Saturday October 5th it was 95 degrees and there was no A/C only had a small fan. We were the only people in the restaurant. Food was good service started out amazing until they LOCKED us in the restaurant. I’m assuming they didn’t think we were going to pay. Very odd. Would’ve definitely came back but never again. If you’re black I would skip this one.
We were really excited to try them out based on all the reviews, but they said cash only. Left disappointed
I had one of the worst restaurant experiences at Lotus Leaf in San Leandro. I ordered the vegetarian tofu option, but they gave me a dish with meat and chicken. When I went back to fix it, instead of apologizing, the staff raised their voices at me and insisted that the meat dish was their “vegetarian option.” It was unbelievable. No respect, no accountability, and no understanding of what vegetarian even means. I left feeling disrespected and frustrated. I will never return and I don’t recommend this place to anyone, especially if you have dietary restrictions or expect basic customer service.

Found hairs on my egg rolls I wished i had took a picture but I didnt When we told the young waitress she was all mad at us like if it was our fault even though we still offered to pay for our drinks… Service sucks and food with hair
