Opinions de Sourdough & Co. San Marcos
My whole family loves Sourdough and Co. My absolute favorite is the Smoked Brisket sandwich. Everything about it is delicious. We always call and order in advance and the order is always ready when we arrive. We also enjoy buying a loaf of bread to take home. It is so good, I have eaten it for dinner by itself. So yourself a favor and go to Sourdough and Co. You won't regret it.
Seriously delicious! I am super picky when it comes to sandwich shops but Sourdough knows how to make truly mouth watering subs. I think it is due to the quality of their ingredients. I love getting a dill pickle with my lunch too. It’s the little extras that make the experience that much better. The staff is amazing and the ambiance is nice too. My hubby kids loved it too. Level up your sandwich game by eating here. I won’t go anywhere else!
Great experience at Sourdough! Placed a medium sized catering order and everything was fresh and exactly as we ordered. Easy process and delicious bread!
This place is a hidden gem. The sandwiches are perfect, I had the pastrami on honey wheat bread. The dining room and bathrooms are well kept and the staff are polite and professional. Highly recommended and will be returning tomorrow. If I could give this place 10 stars I would, yes it is that good
Nice lil sandwich shop! Great variety on the menu, great sandwich bread. Lemon cookie was a knockout.
Great sourdough sandwiches! We love sourdough sandwiches and these are nice and big! We easily split one. Great location, too! Very nice little area in the middle of the cute San Elijo Hills village. You can walk just across the street and eat by the gorgeous fountain in the middle of the park. Lots of picnic tables. I wish they sold their bread, too! I’d love a local shop to get fresh bread. I’d also love if they did a whole grain sourdough, in case they wish to expand their business…
Wife loves the Cracked Pepper Sandwich and I have to agree it’s great. I think their Roast Beef is the best in San Diego, and I’m stoked it’s here in my own SEH backyard. The roast beef is never dry or tough and the sour dough roll they use is fantastic. Their Chocolate Chip cookies are pretty good too!
My husband and I love going to Sourdough for lunch or a quick dinner! He is a vegetarian and really likes their veggie sandwich. I am gluten free and their GF wrap is delicious. Because of our dietary restrictions we sometimes have a hard time finding places where we both have options that actually taste good, but Sourdough always delivers. I’m so glad they are local here in San Elijo Hills!
I came here on my lunch break and ordered online and man was pick up a breeze! The sandwich?! Oh my goodness it’s beyond good! It’s delicious and you’ll definitely want to go back for more! I highly recommend this place! Bonus: They’re super friendly and welcoming to their customers!
Absolutely delicious! I always get the sandwiches because the sourdough rolls are so fresh and tasty, but they also have soups and salads if that’s your jam. So happy to have a great deli shop in the neighborhood
I recently went here while in San Diego visiting family. Food was astonishing, I felt like it was my 2nd home. Will be visiting again. I walked out of the doors blown away by the beautiful service. Our servers were Lola and Sophia. Have a wonderful day!
Not just sandwiches! Soups and salads here are awesome 👏
Just came here for the first time. It really is a hidden gem. Accidentally found it on one of my walks. Service was great. Food was really good. I highly recommend this place. I got the clam chowder and French dip sandwich. I will definitely be coming back again.
This is as our first time here. The food was delicious! My picky eater had the French Dip specialty sandwich and was thrilled! The owner was kind and treated us to a dessert. Great time!
Loved the environment and the food was amazing! Definitely coming again soon!
Loved the Hot Pastrami with Provolone! The 4" sandwich was just the right size for lunch. Also, their drink machine was spot on with a Minute Maid Sparkling Pink Lemonade. I added some sweet tea and made a great mix -- much like an Arnold Palmer. Very friendly servers too!
It was our 1st time here. I got the Reban and husband got the chicken sandwich. We also shated a cup of calm chowder and the chicken Ceaser salad. We loved all of it and look forward to our next visit!!!
A delicious and affordable sandwich! It's perfect for lunch. I will be back!
Excellent cream of tomato soup on a bread bowl!!! We also love the clam chowder soup.. Loved the crispy crunchy chicken sandwich. You will love it!! My family and I love coming here for lunch or dinner.
The tomato bisque soup is some of best I’ve ever had - anywhere. IMHO, the Ruben and Turkey Pesto are the two best sandwiches - that said, my wife and I can’t stop ordering them to try anything else! lol (And of course, the crust on the bread is perfect!) You can’t go wrong here, whether you’re local and walking or driving thru SEH. Five stars all day long!
Great selections! I especially liked the hot Pastrami on sourdough bread! The thinly sliced pastrami and the soft and warm sourdough bread, along with the add ons, was perfect! Great sandwiches overall…

Great sandwiches! Indoor seating and very pleasant outdoor patio too. I love their soda machine.
The atmosphere was really cute for a sandwich shop, my girlfriend and I stopped by for lunch and got served a surprisingly delicious meal for a reasonable price! Definitely an easy 5 stars.
VERY good sandwich! We had the pastrami reuben, GREAT! We also had the Pastrami and Turkey, GREAT! Loved the Mac n cheese and the potato soup! REALLY good in a LOVELY area. We'll be back!
My boyfriend and I came into Sourdough & Co (San Marcos) for soup and left genuinely impressed. The soup was packed with flavor and super comforting — perfect if you’re craving something warm and satisfying. What really made the experience, though, was Dave, who was the only person working at the time. Despite being solo, he went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. His positive attitude and attentiveness truly made our visit memorable. Great food, even better service. We’ll be coming back ! Thank you, Dave !
I think it’s time for a review. My family and I have been coming to sourdough for about 2 years. At this point, you can call us regulars. That’s how much we love it. Phenomenal sandwiches, incredible people, absolutely love it.
This is one of my favorite lunch places. I either get the turkey sandwich or Cobb salad. There was a slight error with my order today and they went out of their way to make it right. I come here A LOT and this is the first time I’ve ever had something come up. Do yourself a favor and order a cookie too. 😀

Quality is excellent. The in house sourdough is excellent. The younger girls working in the shop are 5 star as far as customer service goes. Owners seem to be a lil edgy at times and it shows. Probably the only reason i give a 4 star instead of a 5. Lil pricey but your definetley getting the quality that you pay for. Like this lil shop and its right down the street from my house
Definitely a nice sandwich shop. Similar offerings to Jersey Mike’s type places but definitely fresher and tastier! The turkey and pastrami was very yummy and great portions! The pickles are excellent too. Service was slow, but the people were nice. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! Decent gluten-free offerings too!
Sourdough & Co is one of my favorite local sandwich shops. The sourdough bread is delicious. They use quality deli meats and ingredients. Their smoked brisket sandwich and French Dip are fantastic. I really enjoy their soups with a side if buttered sourdough.
Such an underrated sandwich chain! Their fluffy sourdough bread is my favorite since it tastes gut healthy without being too sour. I always order a build your own with turkey, provolone, etc. and it never fails to deliver. More people should be talking about Sourdough & Co.!

First time trying this place and although the bread is super tasty and feels fresh, unfortunately I got a hair inside my sandwich on both sides which ruined my meal. Felt bad about wasting food and asking for a refund but just didn't feel comfortable anymore. I suggest employees start using hairnets. Also large salad is ridiculously large with too much lettuce. Stick to sandwiches.
Convenient and tasty but they never get my order right. I had a kids grilled cheese that wasn’t cooked and gluten free on regular bread. To many mistakes with my orders has equaled me moving on to other sandwich places. Sad too because it’s right in the middle of my community.
I’ve been here about 4 times now and the sandwiches are great. The service, on the other hand, is not. On each of the Sundays I have visited, the staff has been unfriendly (i.e. does not greet customers, nor respond to my saying “thank you” in any way). On the last day I was in, January 4th, the dining room was again visibly dirty, with food and used napkins littering the floor. This is not an environment most would enjoy eating in, so beware.
Wife ordered from the web portal and I sat there waiting inside for the order as people were getting their orders inside. Waited 30 mins after the order was placed only to find out it hadn't been started. Not sure if they honor the order queue ...

My wife went to pick up dinner and ordered 2 clam chowder bowls. One of them was definitely a clam chowder bowl but the bowl was not even close. Unfortunately the one i got was the not clam chowder bowl. I normally would not leave a review but this thing was not even edible it was like licking a block of salt and completely cold. The only thing that saved it was i was able to dump it out of my bread bowl and use what was left of my wifes.
Our party ordered three different sandwiches, the creamy tomato soup, and the Mac & Cheese. Everything was just “ok” - not bad, not great, but the total bill was eye-wateringly high. Prep time was also annoyingly long, especially with only 2-3 customers inside. Would not recommend or return.
Expect your order to take twice as long to make as told. Service leaves something to be desired. The sandwiches are ok, worth going elsewhere. Very much chain restaurant vibes.
Wrong meat on sandwich. Sandwich was very bland. They forgot my macaroni for kids meal so had to go back and no side pickle. Not worth the $33 for a sandwich and kids meal. EDIT: I went back the next day and the employees were very nice about the whole situation. Although I didn't get a refund, they remade my sandwich. Great customer service

Went in with a friend for lunch the other day and was very disappointed. Staff wasn't very friendly upon entry and seemed annoyed when asked about menu clarification. Only 2 other people in restaurant, yet food took 20 minutes to prepare. When sandwiches finally arrived, they were very small for the price. We decided to return the food and ask for our money back. With a sub-par customer service experience like this, we don't plan on returning.
Eww the Southwest Salad, missing beans n avocado, yucky salty dressing, yucky chicken, soft and artificial, yucky chips not toasted sourdough, nothing good about this food, it’s hard to eat!
A $20 sandwich that they now put less than half the ingredients in the middle. Sad really, you charge that much and then rip off customers. I called and asked a manager to call me about the food and they never called. It was a delivery order and I will never eat there again.. be aware
Service is terrible here. Only ones in the restaurant and the guy doesn't say our name loud enough to hear. They let the good sit out for 10 minutes instead of calling our name. Last time coming here.
good food, but we waited nearly 3 hours to get our order… I understand how hard it is for a restaurant being short staffed, but the man working there told us that our food would be done in 10 minutes each half hour that we asked. Unfortunately we will not be going back. The food was not worth waiting nearly 3 hours for. My mom also tried to call in and cancel the order but he would not pick up the phone. We then asked him in person to cancel it, and he said, “No, it will be done in 10 minutes,” and we would wait there for another hour! I wish I was kidding. We kept telling him that we were in a rush and needed to leave as soon as possible. When he finally gave us our order, instead of offering us a refund or a discount, he packed our to-go bag with a handful of strawberry candies 🤦♀️ like that would make up for it. It was absolutely ridiculous. I know it was hard for him as the only person working there, so I don’t blame him except for the fact that he kept lying to us and taking orders of the people in line behind us. edit: it is funny now seeing that the owner is denying what I am saying. Check your store cameras, and see what time we came in and what time we left! We’ve been inconvenienced enough.
very unwelcoming if you come in and order an hour before closing (not even 15 or 30 mins but an hour - I can sympathize) leaving this review because it has been a reoccurring experience / on NYE I even called/made it in early to specifically avoid the unpleasant experience - closing at 8pm that day - made it in by 6:38pm - Sage is the server listed on the receipt - do better - to spend 50+ for rude service, no thank you - & the sandwiches were below par
They do not close at 9. They lock the door at 8:30/8:45 and clean up until 9. Twice now, on my lunch I’ve thought I’d give it a try. 8:32 the first time. They were all locked up. Second time 8:45. Already closed up shop. I just wish they’d put a final call time or something on here so you don’t waste your time. It’s all really young highschool kids working here so I can understand the poor management.
This place was so good but has 0 employees working ever now and the wait times are crazy long. No one even takes your order when you go in. I stood there for 10mins before I asked if the 1 person working could take my order. She said I had to wait it’s just her. If you order online it says via text your order is ready and you go in and the girl says sorry I do that so I don’t get in trouble with my times and hasn’t even started on your sandwich. Management must have changed for the worst
