It’s sooooooo Goooood!!!!!!!!!
food is awesome.
Incredible Szechuan food!
very pretty
Authentic!
The food is absolutely amazing. There is no wait staff,it's more like a mom and pop restaurant. Go for the great authentic food not because you want to be waited on and pampered.
New business here. It is a great authentic Sichuan restaurant. Great service nice talk, most important, great food.
Very friendly home-own restaurant. You can always call ahead to order and save sometime.
Fried pork farm style -Sliced Beef in Red Chili Sauce NOT TO BE MISSED
Tasty no-frills szechuan - best egg fried rice in Syracuse!
Authentic Chinese - especially good for hot pot! No English on the menus, but one or two speaks English.
Food is delicious! Especially cumin beef and spicy chicken wings!
Probably the most authentic Chinese food in upstate NY!
The best dry hot pot outside of NYC.
Perfect chinese food. Very delicious, trust me.
I drive one hour from Ithaca to this place for their food.
food and service are both great!
good flavor but too far.
Very friendly and delicious food!
As authentic as you can get in CNY
Rice was absolutely bangin
🤙🏻👍🏻💪🏻🔥💯
I visit them weekly to get their hot pot with rice on the side. Just assemble your favorite stuff in a bowl and they cook it up for you in less the 10 minutes. Love it--it's so addictive! Beware--their "spicy" is inferno level here, so I order it medium-spicy or even mild. In my experience, they have never been rude. Service is great. Their tips policy exists because customers never tip, which is very rude.
I’ve been to China. The food is great! But boy, when I say this is the spot for some of the best Chinese food you’ll ever have, I mean it. It’s better than most places in China. Come here only if you dare have great Chinese food that will set an impossibly high bar that will never be met.
It was really nice to spend CNY there, the food was very satisfying that it reminded me of the Chinese food I enjoyed in Singapore. The prices were affordable got 2 lbs worth of mala hotpot, and 3 other dishes for about $80 to feed 3 people for a feast. I highly recommend it!
Amazing and authentic food. The best Chinese food I have had in New York! It’s nothing like you would get at a typical take out place. Very accommodating to vegetarian diet. The owners do not speak a lot of English so I recommend using google translate if you have to ask a question regarding dietary restrictions.
Can't overstate how extremely good this place is. The place is hard to find. When you get inside it's packed with Chinese people and the husband and wife team who run the place don't speak English, so I relied on menu pointing, pantomime, and other patrons translating here and there. All those things are how you know a place is going to be good, and omg this food is AMAZING. I was so sad when I was full because I didn't want to stop eating, the food is that good. Really captures the authentic szechuan flavor profile without killing you with spiciness. Please go here, treat yourself!!!!!!
I have been coming here for a few years. Their hot pot is the best! (And is all I've ever had here). So spicy, and some really interesting ingredients. One of my favorite restaurants.
Was recommended this spot by a Chinese colleague and was really impressed. Big portions at reasonable prices. Really like their clay pot brisket.
My favorite restaurant in Syracuse! I drive an hr at least 2x a month to get dry pot (pictured is dry pot and mapo tofu). The service is very quick it takes about 10 minutes to get my food. I usually spend about 30 minutes here because it is so quick. I’ve tried going here 3 times in the past month and it’s been closed :( please let me know when you open back up!
Update 2024: the food is as good as ever, and the new waiter speaks perfectly good English. There is a large picture menu to help you decide what to order. You should go! Till we The best and most authentic szechuan food between NYC and Buffalo's 'Home Taste.' Probably even better than home taste. As with any restaurant seeking to replicate the experience of dining in China, the service and atmosphere are not prioritized - the food is. Wow, was the food good. Mala dry pot, sliced fish in chili oil, hot and spicy shrimps all on point. If your idea of Chinese food is general cho's chicken on a white tablecloth with effusive service in English, you may not like this place. Myself, I will return whenever I'm anywhere close to Syracuse.
Unassuming from the outside. The best chinese food I've had in CNY. Definitely coming back. Service was good. Look at their recent reviews!
The best and most authentic Chinese food in upstate NY. We always drive 90m from Rochester to just try the food and will always have some takeout back to Rochester. 雪城最好吃的中餐,没有之一
This place has been under new ownership since Mar.2020, now called Hometown Memory Szechuan Cuisine. No forced tips, very authentic Chinese food. You can tell that the new owner who is the previous cook cares about his business. We love the lunch special and Mala dry pot.
Very authentic and great food. We’re amazed by how large the portion is at such fair price. Like the food more than Red chili and even Yang Di Chun!
Food was delicious! Owners were very friendly and took pride in their cooking. The outside looked sketchy. The decor inside was equally unimpressive. Fortunately, the excellent flavors and generous portions won me over. Will definitely come back for more!
It’s true, best Chinese food in Syracuse! We were on our way home, just passing by. Surprised by how authentic the food is here. The owner/cook was super nice. Definitely will visit again next time we visit Syracuse.
I always togo the food so I don't have a experience of low service quality. I like the food and it is delicious.

I lived in East Asia for a dozen years and have traveled throughout China. This eatery is the real deal to which Chinese residents travel miles to patronize. Unfortunately, it appears to be closed indefinitely. We and others who have posted about Hometown have gone there several times recently only to find it closed. The parking area, moreover, is unplowed, covered in snow. Google and Yelp both show normal hours. It would be helpful if someone got to the bottom of this mystery and let us all know. If Hometown is shuttered, that should be indicated on social media.
love this place, but I think they're closed down permanently... please let me know if otherwise I love their food.
The food is excellent, and we never have to wait long to enjoy a delicious meal. It’s affordable and of great quality, making it the top choice for many international students. My husband and I always stop by whenever we’re nearby to grab a bite. The flavors are perfectly suited to northern tastes and truly capture the essence of home.
This place has real Chinese food as opposed to American Chinese food. It is like that I have had in Sichuan. We shared a dish of scallion and scrambled eggs along with a dish of minced pork and eggplant. Both were excellent. This place is rather spartan when it comes to decor, but there are several large round tables set up for family dinners along with the regular sized tables. I'm not sure if they had a handicapped accessible entrance. The waiter was very polite. When we're in the area again, we'll definitely stop and eat.

香锅味道不错,就是有点贵。还是值得推荐。
Laid back atmosphere. Good food. Hibachi style (you pick the stuff) available Might have some trouble communicating in English
Food was excellent! Keep in mind that this is a very authentic Chinese restaurant. The staff, for the most part, does not speak English. My wife is Chinese and we travel over an hour to go there for authentic food. Review was almost dropped from 4 stars to 1. We went there a few months ago and we ordered our food and sat down. When the food came out the dish I had ordered was wrong...completely the wrong dish. The chef actually argued with my mother-in-law that the order was correct and that I ordered the wrong thing. It ended there but another chef overheard and made the correct dish and brought it out to us. The chef who argued with my mother-in-law was visibly upset but overall the restaurant came through in the end. This was not a situation where the two dishes could be mistaken, one was a sort of chicken and peanut dish and the other was like a seafood soupy type dish.
The food was great! The atmosphere wasn't very appealing... If you don't mind the rundown look of the place and bathroom, you will like this place!
Food tastes great with authentic Sichuan flavors. Dishes were spicy, flavorful, and enjoyable overall. However, prices felt a bit high considering the portions and quality. Service was okay but could definitely use some improvement. Still a solid place to visit occasionally if you’re craving good Sichuan cuisine.
The Fried Beef with Cumin was good...it cost about $19 and I will get about 1.5 meals out of this. The food was pretty good, but it didn't knock me off my socks. I'll definitely give this place another try, so I think four stars is fair.

Hometown Memory Szechuan Cuisine offers an authentic taste of Szechuan dishes, but unfortunately, it doesn't fully meet the high standards of this flavorful cuisine. While the spice levels are true to Szechuan's reputation, many dishes fall flat in terms of depth and balance of flavor. The seasoning can be overwhelming at times, and some dishes seem too salty or overly spicy, which can take away from the enjoyment of the meal.
Great experience. The waiter was welcoming and was quick to recommend dishes. He pointed us to some of the more popular options, but was happy to see us branch out into more of the traditional Chinese offerings. We shared 4 dishes among three people so we could sample as much as possible. There were pictures to help identify dishes, and one page of specialties that was only in Chinese. The atmosphere is very basic, but the open kitchen allows you to see how freshly prepared the product was.

Much more traditional than you normally see. Fresh & tasty, with a range of spicy hotness!
看到门口放了生的牛肉还是羊肉 都长苍蝇了 卫生堪忧 味道一般 位置难找
Slow and terrible service.
Whorst restaurant ever
Rude employees
The boss charged the higher price than the menu, like changed more 5 dollars on each dish!! Can you believe that?? Moreover, there isn’t any service, the toilet is very dirty too!
Very VERY RUDE... I suspose some ppl have ruined it for DECENT people 😒 🙄. I mean IGNORED AND DISMISSED when I asked a question. Food display isn't very appealing. Looks unclean w/ noodles out for anyone 2 touch. Unsanitary as well.
Food is authentic Chinese and it is not bad. They don’t have any service and they charge TIPS without your consent.
Staff is rude. Food is authentic Chinese though. Their menu is all Chinese, so make sure you grab a friend who can read Chinese with you when you go there.
No service at all and still forcibly charge you 12% tips. Definitely don’t go!
F... terrible service. I have never seen such bad service attitude!!!!!!!
What a disgusting place!!! Cheating price and Baaaaaaaad service
Worst experience I'v ever had
Was not impressed worth the food
they need to update when they are open or closed. We came on Sunday at 6pm , and they’re closed but on the website it says they’re open
Pretty empty place in late May. We were the only customers there. We asked for water, but the guy said the cups were at the other side of the room and we could get water by ourselves. Btw, they charged you 12% tip no matter what. Later, food came and it wasn't too bad. Not authentic for sure, but the food was edible. He asked us how the food was because he thought it was salty. Really?! If he thought it's salty, he could clearly do a better job.
Someone just used my card from Australia and purchased a meal at 11.45am at your restaurant. Check the cards more thoroughly! I thought the US was more strict on credit card fraud.
Feb 26. 2026 @ 1 pm, restaurant is closed, parking , stair filled with snow. Tel is disconnected. !!
From the moment we sat down the service was sub par, the young boy who served us didn’t ask if we wanted any water. When we asked about dishes he was very arrogant and didn’t want to answer questions. The food was below average, we ordered a frog dish and it was fishy, we don’t recommend. When it was time to check out the same boy who took our order gave us the receipt and was impatiently tapping it. I really don’t like giving one star reviews but this situation 1000% deserves it.
