Wonderful donuts, great people, always stop to get donut when in town

A very pleasant surprise and worth a return visit. We stopped in for coffee and a donut while heading to Blue Mt. Lake, excellent fresh, fresh donuts and coffee.

We go there every year while camping for their incense. We love the brand they sell

You will question everything when you walk in and probably go right past the donut shop, but these donuts are simple and AMAZING! I totally expected to be disappointed, but they are delicious!

The least likely venue for donuts, to one corner of a local laundromat. But, we loved the cinnamon ones that a passerby told us to get. Then, we couldn't resist the cinnamon bun so we had that too. That was plenty for us!

This tiny little donut shop is located inside the laundromat in town. She makes the best donuts and pastries.

What an interesting idea... donuts and laundry. Who would have ever put these two together? However, it works! The laundry gets done, and you get to enjoy sumptuous donuts of your choice. Perfect. The Washboard is also the place to go when you and your guests need a donut feast... there's always a broad and unique selection of the donuts they freshly prepare. They are good to the last bite.

These Donuts are amazing. They have a crispiness on the outside and a cakey texture and he will use the handmade plain Donuts as a base and spread frosting on top. I love the charm of the building and the fact that the shop is in a laundromat- it totally adds to the experience. Some of the best local Donuts I've ever had.

The cutest little doughnut shop and different than any I have experienced before. You basically were able to “build your own” doughnut. They had various different icings and other toppings that they made to order. I had a doughnut with half vanilla and chocolate with sprinkles. It was so fresh and delicious! Also very reasonably priced! Definitely worth a stop!

What's not to like about fresh made donuts and different toppings for different tastes? I loved that the donuts had a slight crunch to them. The toppings were also fresh and had very pleasant flavors. It was a busy place but we were served quickly. They certainly have it down! Connected in the same room is a gift store that had plenty to look at and choose from. Great prices and an amazing selection.

I'll be honest, I went and not expecting a whole lot. However, these donuts were exceptional. Used to try a donut from every shop in Atlanta or in Washington, DC and this place beats the majority of any of those shops from those cities. If you are especially into cake style donuts, (I'm not but was still good) this is definitely a place you should go

These donuts are the best ever!! They are completely home made cakey and awesome! You can even choose the frosting flavor. They have a home made maple that is the best I have tasted anywhere. They even have a maple bacon frosting that I've never found anywhere else. We love coming to Tupper Lake and make it a point to stop by the Donut Shop every visit. The owners are always so nice and helpful and make us feel like family. Highly recommended!!

Called The Wash board, it is really a laundromat that sells the lightest donuts ever; delicious donuts, made fresh almost every 15 minutes or faster depending how fast they sell. They sell fast. They have this small donut fryer. This is not a fast food place. Took 2 dozen home. I asked the man to fry the donuts in the oil for a minute or two longer to get it dark toasty brown. Excellent. They should always sell them that way. (the donuts get 5 stars). Very nice staff. The laundromat is nice and clean and they sell art work next door.

I always stop in here when traveling in the area. Delicious hot and fresh donuts iced and decorated your way! The maple cream is out of this world!

My husband and I stumbled on this place during a visit to Tupper Lake. We live in New York City where there are a ton of fancy donut shops and have tried many of them. We were not expecting to find such delicious donuts in this unusual setting of donut shop-laundromat-antler art store. The donuts are homemade, light and flaky, so delicious and only $1! Originally we picked up just one maple doughnut, but two bites in after we had left the store we immediately turned around and got another one. This is a must visit if you are in the area! We will definitely be back.

Amazing doughnuts! These are the best doughnuts I have ever had. They are soft on the top and crispy on the bottom. The homemade flavors (chocolate, vanilla and glazed) are out of this world. We always make it a point to drive to Tupper lake just to get these!

Try the maple frosting on the donuts (one of a variety of flavors and toppings)! I look forward to those donuts for every time we come into town! The laundry facility is very convenient with coin machines and an ATM. They also have a Native American gift shop that is fascinating and beautifully arranged!

Genuinely tasty, fresh donuts. Really can’t understate how brilliant it is to walk into the smell of warm laundry and fresh, sugary donuts. Plus the person working here was so thoughtful and kind, pulling fresh cinnamon rolls out of the oven just for us.

Donuts are delicious topped anyway you want it. You can also wash your clothes, shop in their gift shop and go thru the thrift shop in the back. It is a hidden gem.

Great little spot, very convenient. Love that everything is made to order. Lots of options but our favorite was a special that involved lemon frosting and coconut sprinkled on top.

Fun local spot, donuts are frosted fresh for you. Each donut is frosted with what you want on it, and it is frosting, not icing (except for the glazed donut). Good all around!

Start your visit to adirondack park by stopping by The Washboard Donut shop in Tupper Lake. Donuts are crispy on the outside, light and air on the inside. I enjoyed the raspberry donut.

We stopped for the gift shop and I couldn't resist getting a couple donuts which were the best fried cakes I've had in a long time. The maple topping was very good, too. Full of flavor but not too sweet.

Look, it’s a donut shop in a laundromat. With that in mind, the donuts are fresh and homemade, and frosted to order. It’s a better donut than you’re gonna get at a chain. And if you have to eat it standing up while you watch the spin cycle, well then that’s just the price you pay for a good donut.

Favorite place in Tupper Lake. Donuts are hand-frosted by order. I think the owner/baker helped us, and she was so friendly and happy to serve her donuts. The donuts (all 1/2 dozen) disappeared quickly between two people.

Cinnamon rolls are sublime. Donuts are delicious. Laundry is well laid out and accessible.

We were given a certificate for a half dozen doughnuts. We visited on our last day in town and took them to go. All the doughnuts are plain except the glazed. You select which frosting you'd like to have on it. The lemon with coconut was my favorite followed by the maple. However, they were all yummy and not heavy. The frosting is light and delicious. If we're ever back up there, we'd definitely stop again as these are some amazing doughnuts!

Great place! Organized to do laundry where there is a separate counter in the middle of the store to sort dirty laundry. Then plenty of clean counters to fold your laundry. Delicious donuts and a nice merchandise shop as well.

The smell alone was enough to draw us in, and the donuts did not disappoint—crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and just the right amount of sweetness. We didn’t need to do laundry that day, but the idea of sipping coffee and eating fresh donuts while your clothes spin in the next room is pure Adirondack practicality. We had the chance to meet the owners, who shared that the shop has been in the family for roughly 35 years—a rare kind of continuity you can taste in every bite. If you’re passing through after a weekend in the woods, whether you’re in need of clean clothes or just a bit of fried perfection, this place is worth the stop.

Best donuts ever!! NO comparison. We've been coming to the daks 1-2 times per year for the last 20(?) years and try to include a stop here even if it's out of the way. We were there again 2 days ago, with about 10 frosting flavors to choose from. Watched the hikers ahead of us in line stop outside to get a shot of the half-dozen in their box as they left. Big smiles all around! Keep up the great work, will be there again in July!

Such a unique stop, with a donut shop, gift shop and laundry mat all in one. We happened to see the donuts when passing through and decided to try them out. They were delicious. Tasted freshly fried with crisp edges and cakey insides, and frosted to order with silky buttercream. The pumpkin glazed was the grown-up favorite, and my daughter loved the strawberry frosted. We'll definitely stop when we're in town again.

When you visit Tupper NY you have to come and try this donuts. At first glance I was skeptical due to the donut shop is actually in a laundromat but they ate great donuts. Buy the way all the stores around Tupper Wild Center are cash only accepted no credit cards at all.

Our family frequently camps near Tupper Lake. We found Washboard Donuts while visiting the area and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! The donuts and coffee are made fresh and to order. See pictures. Totally worth a visit. Grab some to go for the next morning. DELICIOUS!!!!

Let’s be honest, sometimes you just want a treat. This little hole in the wall is a surprise. Basically it’s a tiny donut shop that makes donuts where you chose the topping. The coffee is basic but good, and the different donut toppings are awesome. Fried dough as well. It’s kinda like a food stand at the state fair, but in a laundry mat. Absolutely worth a quick stop.

Curious place you'd only find in a small village like Tupper! Donut shop consumes only small portion of the building in the front, but coffee was great and donuts came with your choice of frosting. Most of building occupied by a laundromat and a seemingly typical Adirondack gift shop.

Hot fresh donuts! Great variety and loved that they were piping hot! Just wish the coffee was a little better.

Roaming around Tupper and Saranac, and the Donut Shop was just what I was looking for. A hot cup of coffee and a plain cake donut -- which at first could have been disappointing, but then discovered you can top it with one of many frostings! Had the maple cream. The donut was fluffy and sweet, and the coffee was hot on a day when it was 15 outside with flurries. The best part, it didn't cost $5.00 like it would have at a chain store. Thank you!

Love this place! Some of the best doughnuts I’ve ever had! The best frostings for the doughnuts are maple and blueberry, hands down. The ONLY issue is that they don’t let you buy Just the frosting. They used to, years ago, but now (for some unknown and seemingly random reason) they don’t. I tried buying some outright and was told “we can’t do that anymore” but wasn’t given an explanation. Then I thought, okay, I’ll order some plain doughnuts with frosting on the side, SURELY they would “allow” that. Nope. I was told, “the owner doesn’t like when we do that and they have us on camera”. This is VERY off-putting, not only as a customer, but for the poor employees. They were genuinely sorry they “could not” help me; they almost seemed afraid of the owner. Just let us buy the frosting! Why the change? New owners with (sorry not sorry) less appreciation for their customers? Otherwise, no complaints. Just had a two-day old blueberry topped doughnut that (despite being soaked with frosting because I was “not allowed” to have it “on the side”) tasted fresh!

Lots of locals at the store. Donuts were ok. I had 2 donuts and a small cup of coffee. The locals didn't appreciate my conversation.

All of their sandwiches are prepackaged, and the donuts are really overly sweetened - to the point where you can't take more than a few bits without feeling like you had too much sugar for the day.

Donuts were good, very fluffy frosting, nothing to write home about really. The man who was working wasn't friendly - We felt like we needed to make our decisions as quickly as possible, despite no one else waiting in line. He was rude when we asked questions, despite it being our first time. Very grumpy. Would not come back if he was working.

This is an interesting place to review as there were so many different things inside. It’s a gift shop a laundry mat and a donut shop. But I only got the donuts so that’s what I will review. The donuts themselves were good but the frosting was very bad and way too much frosting on each donut. I was with a group and we ordered one of everything. There were a couple we liked the frosting on but I can’t remember the names. Be ready to scrape off the frosting to accommodate your taste.

Donuts are decent, but the experience was ruined by the very grumpy old man that waited on us. We walked in and he had to get up from where he was sitting and made it very obvious that he was not happy. We were first time visitors and he had no patience when we asked questions. I almost didn't buy any donuts, but since we were already there,we got a few and left as quickly as we could. We won't be back.
