This location is great! Our server- 💜Georgia 🧡- is friendly, attentive and professional. Georgia went above & beyond in her service. She knows her job well and she loves doing it. ALL of the staff is friendly and welcoming, even when you speak to them on the phone. ALL of our food 😋 was super delicious. We got the full rack of Memphis ribs with mac & cheese, brussel sprouts, and sweet potato tots. Plus for dessert we had fruit cobbler- Yum. Our drinks-(Fall off the porch) were made just right ✅️. You MUST eat here !!!! 😉.

We have been dedicated patrons of Virgil's Real BBQ since 1998, and after all these years, the food remains consistently outstanding. This restaurant has stood the test of time for a reason—they simply do BBQ right. ​The star of the menu, in our opinion, is the Pulled Pork Sandwich; it is absolutely the stuff that dreams are made of! The meat is tender, smoky, and perfectly sauced. ​Beyond the incredible food, the staff is excellent, always providing great service, and the entire venue is very clean. If you are craving authentic, high-quality barbecue, there is nowhere else you should go. Virgil's is the gold standard.

We started with Adam as our bartender — solid start, great vibes — but then we got upgraded to Justino, and let me tell you, that man is the Michelangelo of mixology. His Old Fashioned was smoother than a Sinatra song on vinyl. The deviled eggs were little clouds of joy, and the pigs in a blanket? Pure nostalgia wrapped in buttery perfection. Between the food, the drinks, and Justino’s world-class hospitality, we basically achieved enlightenment right there at the bar. If you’re in NYC and skip Virgil’s Real BBQ, that’s a personal choice — but it’s the wrong one.

From the moment we walked in, the service was above and beyond—starting with the hostess. We asked to sit at the bar, but there weren’t two seats together. The hostess went out of her way to ask a guest if she wouldn’t mind moving over, and she graciously did. I eat out often and have never seen anyone take that kind of initiative before. Our bartender provided excellent service, consistently checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. We also met the manager and had a great conversation with him. Oh, and the food was perfect—with plenty of leftovers to take home! Apologies that I don’t have anyone’s names. I had noted them in an email to myself but can’t seem to find it.

The best spot in busy crazy midtown! You have to come in and check out the best at home made menu. They do everything from scratch in the house. Softest brisket, the best deluxe chicken sandwich 🥪🍗 Better than any chick fil a. Ugh and the potato salad it came with! Brian the manager was very sweet to accommodate my needs Layla the bartender greeted me with outmost best hospitality and she explained everything above and beyond and made me made best choices. I enjoyed my experience here beyond just delicious food but amazing vibe and I felt super seen and welcomed🙀✨🥰 Definitely coming back here. And will see them again soon! Want to try everything on the menu. Frozen margarita looked like the best delicious desert! 💛

This was my first time ever visiting Virgil’s and the service alone was amazing! Then the food was sooo incredible !! I definitely have to go back. I want to highlight my server Shadi, who was honestly the highlight of my visit. He was so empathetic, helpful, and really made sure I genuinely enjoyed my experience. Even the hostess had the most amazing personality and made me feel super welcomed right away. I went during happy hour and the prices were great too! I’d highly recommend Virgil’s 10/10

A real southern feel in the heart of New York. We popped in passing during happy hour. I had the Korean BBQ ribs, wife had the Brisket Sliders and our son had a 1/4 chicken. The food was to die for. Real scrumptious BBQ! That brisket slider was so good that we ordered a second plate. The food came really quickly too. And the server showed some real southern hospitality. A must eat place in NYC!!

I had to take a moment to write about this place while on my trip to NYC last week. It was a long day of walking in NYC and I was starving but didn't want pizza. This place did not disappoint! Our awesome waiter Spencer took care of us. I was slightly disappointed at first glance of menu beverages I did not see beef ribs. ( I can't have pork). I asked Spencer if pork was the only option and he happened to mention that there was a special that today of a handful of beef ribs that were smoked all night. He went to ask chef if there were any left and omg there was. Without hesitation I said.. I'll take it. Then I asked well how many ribs come in an order (expecting to hear 2-3) nope he said one. One weighing about a pound and half maybe. Sure I'll take it. Omg ... this one beef rib was the best. It just fell off the bone, the meat was the most tender meat ever!!! It just fell apart in your mouth. I chose sauce on the side but honestly, sauce was not needed it was so damn good! 10/10 for me. Worth every penny!!!!!!! Thank you Spencer!!!!! Please make sure to to tell chef again .. it was the best Beef Rib I've ever had!!!!

We popped into Virgil’s Real BBQ in NYC and had a fantastic, no-fuss BBQ night. I had the BBQ Burger and my wife had the half chicken — both knocked it out of the park. The BBQ Burger was everything you want from a proper BBQ joint: the patty was juicy with a great crust, a pleasant smoky note and just the right amount of seasoning. It wasn’t drowning in sauce — instead the BBQ flavors complemented the beef, so each bite tasted rich and well-balanced. The bun held up, the texture was spot-on, and it was deliciously messy in the best possible way. Her half chicken was equally impressive. The skin had a beautiful char and crispness, while the meat underneath stayed unbelievably moist and tender — you could tell it was cooked with care. The smokiness came through without overpowering the natural chicken flavor, and the seasoning hit that sweet spot between savory and slightly tangy. Service felt friendly and relaxed; our server checked in at the right moments without hovering, and the food arrived hot and at a comfortable pace. The atmosphere is casual and lively — exactly what you want for a laid-back BBQ meal. Portions were generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth. All in all, Virgil’s delivered on both classics we tried. If you’re in the mood for straightforward, well-executed BBQ, this place is a solid pick — we’ll be back.

Everything about this place was exceptional. The service and the food could not have been better! Shadi and Lannie could not have done enough for us, were incredibly attentive and massively helpful with explaining different dishes to us and pointing out their recommendations, not to mention selflessly offering us another drink without hesitation every time they noticed us with near empty glasses. At the end when they provided us with the bill, they even gave us our hush puppies starter on the house as a guest goodwill gesture! The food was by far the best we have eaten on our trip to New York, the Surf n Turf in particular was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Shadi and Lannie, keep doing what you're doing, you made our dining experience the best we could have possibly asked for and we will absolutely be returning in the future! Our choices: Hush Puppies Surf n Turf (Shrimp Skewer and Skilet Steak with Chimichurri Sauce) with Mac n Cheese and Sweet Potato Tots Beef Brisket with Mac n Cheese and Mashed Potatoes with Gravy

This was my first time back at Virgil's after many years and they did not disappoint. We stopped by right before a show (after a day of food tour downtown) and ordered nachos with brisket and sweet potato tots... both were delicious! The nachos was huge in size... had good size brisket chunks and generous serving of guacamole too. Server was super friendly also. We'll definitely come back next time were near Time Square.

Went there with a colleague for a dinner. We wanted to eat ribs, brisket and pulled pork. And they had really good options there. Good quality, very friendly staff. No high-level expensive steakhouse, but a nice place to enjoy a dinner with tasty barbecue options. Nice flair.

Food was good, but not amazing. Brisket, ribs and chicken were all a bit dry. Service was good (although a bit slow) but the portion sizes are very large. I'd give them another shot, but the dry meat concerns me.

On Christmas Eve we reserved a table at Virgils and the food was good. I have been meaning to eat at this restaurant for years. We ordered prime rib which was perfectly cooked and Brisket, Pulled Pork with smoked beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy. The Brisket and Pulled Pork were juicy and tender. Our waiter was charming and extremely friendly.

Overall: Might recommend, would not revisit. 6/10 1. The food was not that amazing not worthy of a travel but if you live close by and don’t mind or is used to spending Manhattan prices then it’s not a bad place to consider. 2. The hospitality was amazing everyone was friendly and is respectful towards all customers. 3. The environment is packed and tight but decently cleaned. First of all, the food was not the best, portion wise and taste wise, I really liked the trash ribs because it was well seasoned and cooked to perfection, the mac and cheese was decent as well very cheesy and well textured but the brisket was dry and salty same as the ribs pretty dry and not much flavor unless you ate the fat part, the pull pork was average no flavor and dry, chicken and corn bread was the worst of them all, corn bread taste like chewed up cardboard. Second, the hospitality was amazing, everyone was friendly, very polite and respectful, I’m saw one greeting everyone and bring everyone hospitality so 5/5 on hospitality no doubt. Third, the environment was okay it was a bit tight and I barely had any room to sit or put my stuff but it was clean and cozy. -sawa

Food is so, so. Like everything else in NYC, its overpriced. The food was tastey, but not like the southern BBQs you would go to. Atmosphere is a bit of a mid western oasis in the middle of glitzy times Square. Brisket was a bit dry, brisket nachos, most of the meat was so fatty, it took away from the appetizer. Pricing for burgers is quite high.

My friend and I shared a half rack of ribs, which were tasty. It came with 2 sides, we chose the cheese grits and the brussel sprouts. Loved the brussel sprouts, cooked with lots of oil and salt. You can also choose from french fries, sweet potato tots, collard greens and more. They have 3 BBQ sauces on the table, mild, hot and jalapeno mango. I liked them all. The service was good. They have TVs all over the place with sports playing. A good choice if you're in Times Square seeing a show.

I’ve had my first experience with Virgil’s in Vegas and they were definitely filled with lots of flavor. Here the location in NY missed the mark, I was a tad underwhelmed with the hype this place gets for food referencing. I decided to do the combo platter w/my choice of ribs & chicken w/mash & mac… the chicken completely flavorless. Pork ribs were not cleaned you had all the slimy fat in every bite & it wasn’t even glazed you had to put your own sauce & that didn’t really take the cake but atleast it was seasoned. I used some of my friend’s greens to mix w/the mash potatoes. And the alcoholic drinks were juice. However, ambience was good & our waiter was nice. I wouldn’t try it again. Two stars for presentation
