Let’s discuss the Butter + Milk Biscuit Bar! You know how your eye can be bigger than your stomach? This place does not help with that. I wanted to eat everything on the menu. Very tasty food, great staff, and portion size was spot on. HUGE BISCUITS, fluffy and buttery. I will be back to try more item on the menu. Oh forgot to mention get a sausage patty.
My wife and I have been looking for a breakfast spot in Visalia for a while. We found a few decent places but Butter + Milk Biscuit Bar has topped the charts. The biscuits and gravy hail as the best I’ve ever had. The Portuguese burrito was super tasty. It’s home cooking away from home. All I can say is, “JUST GO!!!!”
So I’m a little embarrassed. As much I travel to the central coast I have never visited their sister location there. And all this time it’s been open here in Visalia I’ve never ventured out to visit either. I know please forgive me. So this past Sunday I made it a my mission to come visit after church with my fiancé and friends. I had the Southern Comfort sandwich with sausage gravy and the drip coffee. I am NOT a huge fan of white country gravy, but this gravy was not too floury or sausagy if that makes sense. It was a great in between full of flavor and not over whelming that you couldn’t taste the sandwich. The huge plus is that they let you choose how you want your egg cooked on all their meals. Huge plus because u love over medium. The drip coffee was strong enough and didn’t have that old burnt flavor you expect from most places. The place is super busy, but you get through it rather quickly. The place is clean, has clean bathrooms and lots of seating outside when the inside is full. I highly recommend. I know some people say it’s too expensive, but I think the pricing is fairly decent for the portions and the value. And as always plenty of parking!!
Best linguisa fix I have had in awhile. Hard to find places locally that serve my favorite breakfast meat- and it isn’t too greasy! also tried their biscuit and gravy, it was hardy with good flavor, but the linguisa is the winner for me. I got take out, customer service was great :)
First time dining in this establishment, very crowded but worth the wait for a table. It went by very quickly. Very popular spot for breakfast as the traffic never stopped. The 2 gentlemen who were behind the counter were very friendly, attentive, and patient with us first-timers. If U have never been, I say give this place a try. I recommend their biscuits and gravy over Dimples Diner, which I had the previous morning.
Staff is great, friendly, and talkative. The place is very small but cute. The food is fantastic!! If you're looking for breakfast in visalia its a must try.
Place is amazing, decor and service spot on...the food hasn't settled yet and I couldn't even eat it all, but it was truly amazing.
First time here today with my son, it was delicious, and loved the music. I will definitely be back 👌🏼⭐
Busy place, but food came fast. It was delicious and their portions are beyond generous!
This was a really nice little breakfast spot. We rode from Fresno on motorcycles to try it out. Very good gravy and the biscuits were moist. Then you can put anything else on your biscuits and gravy. Highly recommend
This was the first time I've ever came to butter buttermilk biscuit bar and I really loved there. Yogurt parfait very filling. Very good very delicious 😋
I saw a tik tok video and saw that they have sausage breakfast gravy and had to give it a try. Drove 30 minutes to try, was not disappointed. 10 / 10. Can't wait to go back and try something else. I had the big for his britches plate. Certainly could not finish it. One of the best breakfast gravy's yet.
Amazing! Iced Vanilla Chia and Bless Your Heart Burrito were amazing. I don’t know what the crunch is that is put on the chai but it was so yummy! The bless your heart burrito is so big!! Could feed 2 honestly! I added the sausage and I’m glad I did! No salsa really needed - the flavor itself was great! I would totally recommend!!! Seating is limited so be patient and kind!
Amazingly simple offerings in a very yummy method, and clearly beloved by local regulars who came during in shortly after we ordered. Had the bacon topped biscuits and gravy and barely finished a 3rd of it. You can easily share one. Kept me quite well the remainder of our day riding home to San Diego! Staff were super cool and helpful.
They have the best biscuits and gravy!! We had the big britches meal. There was so much goodies on them, we could only eat one each. Looking forward to heating leftovers for our dinner.
This was the first time we've been here and I didn't have any issues save one that I'll adjust next time. This is the kind where you place your order at the counter, grab a table and they will deliver it to you, (unless you are ordering for take-out which more than half did during our time there). I have been craving biscuits & gravey for a while now and we were thrilled to find this place which happens to be next to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, el Rosal. I ordered the Hold Your Horses, (B&G with 3 eggs sunny side up), with an extra biscuit, plus OJ and coffee. The issue I had was the eggs. Too often, cooks think that any raw egg is bad so they tend to cook them longer. That gives the eggs a little crust on the edges. Not a big deal but next time I will go over super-easy, keeping them running but no crust. It was a minor thing that I will easily fix. The biscuits and gravey were just what I was wanting and did not disappoint. The wife had the avocado toast and loved it. The staff were great, very friendly and we didn't have to wait anytime at all to get our food delivered. Plus being able to eat outside in the shade was a nice treat. All-in-All, it was a great breakfast and we will be coming back again soon!
Me and my wife visited this establishment on a Wednesday morning. To our surprise it was packed! Thankfully even then we were able to find seats as they have a few tables inside and have a beautiful outside seating area. As busy as it was we got our food pretty quickly and was hot and fresh. The tacos were phenomenal. Side of gravy was excellent. The biscuits and gravy was also on another level! So fluffy! We needed extra side of gravy because of how great it was lol! Excellent and will for sure be back!
I always hated gravy from the day I was conceived, and after reluctantly having to try this, I can say for certain that this is the exception. It was almost enlightening when I actually had this gravy. I will come here again but I will say the hot chocolate is very mid(like my second wife) But the staff are very friendly and not mid like the hot chocolate(wife joke)
Great little place with indoor and outdoor seating. Went with the Hunky Dorey two fresh fuffy bicuits with well made sausage loaded gravy and a bit of black pepper spice on the backend. Fresh soft scrambled eggs on top.
AMAZING - I’m a huge biscuits and gravy guy and this place knows how to get it right!!! The food was excellent - eggs on a biscuit with gravy?! Perfect. Biscuit with honey butter?! Incredible. Everything was spot on. Plenty of parking and seating. Expect to wait just a little bit because the food is that good. Service was excellent and helped us pick out what was right. We had the avo toast and the southern comfort. Perfect breakfast.

Absolutely loved this place! The biscuits were amazing, fresh, fluffy, and full of flavor. The coffee was just as good and paired perfectly with the food. On top of that, the customer service was excellent, friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Everything about this experience was great. Can’t wait to come back!
This breakfast spot is an absolute banger! It should be 4.8 or 4.9!! Portions = huge. Cost for portions, it’s a home run. Cannot rave enough about the taste (had the Hunky Dorey), cost effectiveness, customer service! Dynamite, You guys nailed it!

Food was good, however they need to get a little more organized as far as food put out, our food seemed like it had been sitting a while. Staff is friendly but the atmosphere is targeted to a certain clientele and for inside dining was really crowded and you have to be aggressive in order to get a seat. Probably best to just online order to go.
Over all I nice quiet place to have breakfast, water coffee and condiments are on display for customers to use. Portions are big and so are prices, I ordered the Honky Dorey nd definitely got my money's worth, im a big dude and id say that portion was enough for 2 so if your on a budget id go with 1 honky dorey serves 2. Overall I enjoyed it gravy was a 10 havent had anything like it b4, but dont take my word for it stop by and enjoy the best biscuits and gravy in town.
The quality of the food and beverages there and the overall experience was very good, but diminished by the paper and plastic takeout containers. Real dishes cups utensils etc would take it up another level.
We were stopping by Visalia before heading to SoCal. I was looking for breakfast burrito places... imagine my surprise when I saw a menu that was similar to a place that I know and love... Their website doesn't show a sister location but my curiosity was piqued. We pulled up to the location and my question was answered. It had the logo on the window Butter+Milk and on the other side Beachin' Biscuits. For some who may not know, they have a sister location in Pismo Beach that opened prior to this. This location is a little bigger and had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The location surrounding it was nice and not too busy when we visited. Since, I was familiar with Beachin' Biscuits I already knew what I wanted. I was super excited, the lady that took my order Giselle was less excited. She was low key rude and lacked customer skills. While I was waiting for my order, I noticed she was like that with everyone except people she knew. I didn't let her mood bring me down. My order was out in about 10-15 minutes and the lady who gave me my order was super nice. She even gave me syrup for my boardwalk bites. I ordered: 1. Pablo burrito: This is one of my go-to's. Surprisingly, this wasn't greasy like the other location. It was filling with the gravy, I was stuffed with just one mini burrito. 2. Boardwalk bites: No shortage of cinnamon here. Each bite was covered all the way around. To be honest it didn't even need syrup. 3. Southern comfort with sausage patty: Sadly, the biscuit was hard which left everything to be dry. Sausage was lost in the biscuit. 4. Side of potatoes: Lightly crispy and didn't need ketchup. 5. Cold brew: I got the last cup, it was tasty but mostly all ice. A nice new alternative when I can't make it to pismo beach or if we take 99 to LA.
SHORT VERSION: Breakfast diner specializing in biscuits and gravy. If you like those, you'll love it. LONG VERSION: I am in a quest for the best biscuits I can find at a restaurant, so naturally a place that bills itself as a biscuit bar got my attention. I love a good breakfast diner, but this place is a little more storefront than dine in, even though they have a number of tables inside and a pergola-covered set of tables on the sidewalk outside. It was clean and neat and decorated in storefront diner style but they keep their cooler for cans of Pepsi products on the inside of the counter instead of being grab-n-go. The menu board outside apparently needs to be updated, as a dymo label stuck to the top announces that prices have changed. Inside, the menu (with current pricing) is on LED screens hung above the register station. I ordered a basic biscuit with the choice of homemade strawberry jam or honey butter. And I also ordered their French toast platter, called "Sweet Cheeks ," to get a feel for their non-biscuit menu. Biscuits and gravy are the heavy hitters here, but my onion allergy tends to keep me away from gravies and sausage crumbles. I can say the b&g option was very popular among the steady stream of customers here in the eight-o-clock hour. There were also quite a few folks ordering the breakfast burritos and they all looked happy. The biscuit was an excellent size! And it was done right - not too dry and not that pasty, underdone gumminess you get. If I was rating on the biscuit alone, I'd give a 4.5. It's pretty near perfect. It was also absolutely affordable at $3.50. When I come back this way (and I will!) I will definitely get biscuits again. The French toast was French toast. It had a heavy coat of powdered sugar, but nothing else stood out. It was good, it was reasonably priced. It didn't really stand out and it came as three slices of French toast by themselves - not even a garnish. So, no complaints. I might order it again. But the biscuit really is the draw. It's a very good biscuit! There were two problems, neither of which is a complaint about the very good food. The first was the jam. I'll try the honey butter when I come back. The menu says the jam is homemade, but it tasted a lot like that strawberry glaze which gets poured onto strawberry pies. Overly sweet, very pink, no seeds and, at least in my serving, no strawberries either. I'm not sure how a homemade jam would end up without any fragments of the berries from which it is made. I regretted putting it on the really quite good biscuit! I had syrup left over from my French toast which would have been a better biscuit topping, even though it was ordinary Smuckers pancake syrup out of a little sealed portion cup. This is a common complaint of mine. Restaurants that have an excellent specialty item often do themselves a great injustice by using prepackaged or other add-ons that let you know they haven't put as much thought or care into that as they did the main dish. Which is my other problem: total lack of presentation. Those of us dining in got the same plastic (compostable!) take-out shells as everyone taking their to-go meals. Pop them open and the food was just lying there. Not ordered or layered or set in any way. Sure, there's not much you can do with a biscuit in a box by itself, but French toast is usually placed in angled stacks, not laid out flat. It was fine, just looked... flat. The jam was in a little solo cup and when I took the lid off the words on it were imprinted in the jelly and stayed that way until I stirred them away. This doesn't detract from the fine food, but it does remind me of the importance of presentation. We really do eat with our eyes first. I give a solid 4 stars here, and the biscuits are really close to perfection! The prices were fantastic. I WILL come back, which says a lot. This place is a long way out of my way (about 25 miles), but I'll come here over many places closer in. THE BOTTOM LINE: If you like biscuits, make a point of visiting if you're within 30 miles at breakfast time.

Stopped by for the first time on a Monday morning and was pleasantly surprised by the vibe. The place was about 80% occupied, which says a lot for that time of day, but it still felt chill and relaxed. The interior is modernized (not overdone), clean, and welcoming, with a nice quote on the wall that adds character. I ordered the breakfast burrito ($11). It’s simple but very well seasoned — scrambled eggs, potatoes, and cheddar cheese. No meat, which I was craving, but the herbs and spices definitely carry the flavor. Not sure what they use, but it’s tasty. Portion-wise, it’s a solid medium-to-large burrito and comes split in half, so it could easily be shared. I’ve seen bigger burritos elsewhere, but this one is filling enough. That said, $11 feels a bit pricey for something so simple. I totally understand inflation, but I think adding a protein option like bacon, ham, or sausage would really elevate it and make the price feel more justified. I skipped the coffee because, with the burrito already at $11, it didn’t feel worth the add-on for me. Service was quick — about five minutes total — and the cashier was very friendly. I mentioned it was my first time there and that I’m Yelp Elite. I kind of wish there had been a bit more engagement at that point, like suggesting a popular item or checking with the manager about anything for Yelpers. Not a dealbreaker at all, just a missed opportunity to go the extra mile. Overall, good food, chill environment, friendly service, and efficient turnaround. I’d come back — especially if I can add a protein next time.
Biscuits, ✔️ Gravy ✔️ Satisfying ✔️ Coffee ✔️ Soo much more ✔️ Soo many great things to say about this place. Open for breakfast hours and closes early around 6am - 12:30pm. Dining in doors or outside or to go. Area is a little small for the popularity of the place, otherwise would be 5 stars all around. Staff is great too, good service, and if your not sure what to get or drink the house recommendations are on point! A must try!

The biscuits and gravy are very good and tasty I got the big for your britches, Good portion I just didn’t like they give you food in a Togo plate. I do not recommend the Pablo tacos they are way to greasy “so greasy” to greasy for any meal! The service was great and the people were very nice and helpful.
Gravy is a bit on the sweeter side My biscuits were dry...even though they were covered in gravy I did not find the front staff attentive
The service and atmosphere here is 5 stars , I love the music too ….but the food was ok. My second time trying it and both times the potatoes were under cooked . So it was a little hard for me to enjoy
Maybe I just had a bad batch but the biscuits were horrible they had a bad taste, very dry like too much flour was used. Potato’s were undercooked. Gravy was 6/10
Great concept - could use a little tweaking. Biscuits are good, nice soft and fluffy, but lack the country feel and texture, almost comes across like cake. Gravy is peppery but fairly generic- a good base to work from but the cost-cutting comes through in the flavor. The bacon smell lured me to a 14.00 dish that turned out to just be a heap of house bacon crumbles (disappointing) on what must have been 3-4 ladles of gravy on a pair of cake-biscuits. Meh. The coffee wasn't half bad as other reviews had suggested, but it was a bit weak compared to larger brands/companies. Takeaway, good idea, right direction, needs some work. - Take a look @ 'Tudors Biscuit World' from the eastern US states in Appalachia 👍🏼
Went there on a Saturday morning around 9am. Was pretty busy. Parking not hard to find. Was with a group of 6 people. You order up front. I ordered a "Big for his Britches" plate with hot chocolate. 2 biscuits with gravy, fried egg, sausage, linguica, bacon strips, fried potatoes, cheddar cheese. It is definitely a big portion of everything that can be shared with 2 people. The biscuits were pretty dry and tasted nothing out of the ordinary. The additives were good, but felt cluttered. I really couldn't get all the taste in the biscuit. Not bad by any means, but not anything that stands out. Overall, the food was decent. Nothing crazy to write home about. The organization in the place is pretty disorganized. Since it's packed it's hard to walk around. It was hard to find a table for 6 since you had a single person sitting in tables that should be for 4 people taking up space. They do have outdoor seating. They should consider having the side door open for people to line up to order and have the main door used for exiting only. That way they can fit more tables in there. I'm glad I tried this place, but I'm not sure I'd be a frequent visitor.

I was pretty hopeful about this place. Went there and got a burrito and eggs/gravy over potatoes. The potatoes were so salty they were inedible. It tasted like the large salt refill was opened up and poured onto them. The gravy was good! The eggs were good, but I had to eat around the potatoes. The burrito was good, but made hubby ill. He ate 1/2 and saved the other half. Later today he ate the saved burrito and was ill afterwards again. My best guess is that they don’t drain the grease off the meat (he got the meat lover one - I can’t recall the name of it) and the grease disagreed with him. He liked the taste, but we won’t be going there again. The salty potatoes ruined an otherwise good meal - wish I had gotten biscuits instead of potatoes, BUT I love potatoes and these were, in all honesty - gross. If the cook tasted what was cooked he would know the potatoes are too salty. It’s a no from us.
Your food is good but your business practice sucks!!! You close to damn early! All other breakfast and lunch restaurants stay open till 2:00, you close at 12:30!!! I arrived at 12:00 and the only choice I had was biscuits and gravy! No other choice because you were getting ready to close! The customer can’t even order what they want because you’re more concerned about closing than serving the customer? More focused on your own convenience than the customer! That sucks!!! That’s a lazy business practice. Major fail!!!
Not gonna lie was hoping this place was going to be good. I am sure the people are nice but for a biscuit place to have meh gravy was kind of a surprise. Way to much pepper and the gravy tastes just out of the box. I dont eat biscuits and gravey often probably wont be back. Hopefully things change.
Yeah definitely not it. For what they’re charging I sure got little to nothing on my plate. Order took way too long and from my perspective (I could be wrong) the take outs went out faster. Once I received my order, I got it in to go boxes when I stated I was dining in… Tables need cleaning The inside is crazy compact. Wouldn’t go out my way to visit again
Updated review: 9/30/24 Came back after not being here for 9months .. been back twice in the last week and the biscuits were so dry I almost choked.. definitely cannot be eaten by itself u will need gravy or something lol wooow plz do better for a 9.25$ egg & cheese biscuit. Food was hot & fresh .. biscuit & burrito were huge and yummy.. will be back again !!
Very underwhelming experience. I'm a big fan of their pismo location and I was very excited to swing by this location once I heard it was opening in Visalia. I made the 45 minute drive this morning and arrived to a pretty small line (so I thought). The establishment was very clean and the employees were very kind. We placed our order after almost no wait time. From the time I ordered to the time I received my food was approximately 40 minutes. Maybe a cook called off I'm not sure but definitely was a wait. I'm ok with waiting, their pismo location usually has a wait but it's always well worth it. I'm writing this review after eating the exact same dish I always get in pismo and was extremely disappointed. The biscuit was dry, the gravy was salty and under seasoned, the entire dish was just salty gravy and meat. My wife ordered the ginger biscuit sandwich also her favorite from pismo and was disappointed in the quality of her sausage patty and biscuit. I'm not sure if I'll be back or even recommend it, there's alot of 5 star reviews that entertain the idea of a better quality breakfast experience that I did not experience. To each there own, I wish this establishment success moving forward maybe it'll improve with time.

Let me start by saying I had really high hopes for this place. I’m not usually the type to leave bad reviews—honestly, I rarely leave reviews at all, even when an experience is hit or miss. But after what happened today, I felt I had to speak up due to how disappointed we were. My family and I, including our three very young children, arrived this morning and placed our order at exactly 10:45 AM. As we sat down, we noticed other parties arriving well after us—some quite large—and yet they were being served promptly. Over the course of the next hour, at least three large groups who came in much later received their food before us. We checked in at the counter three separate times, each time being told our food would be out in "just a few minutes." Each time, 15 more minutes would pass with no food. After a full hour of waiting, I went up again and was told—yet again—it would be three more minutes. The food finally arrived about five minutes later. It was incredibly frustrating, especially with hungry young kids who were watching others eat while we sat with nothing on our table. To make matters worse, we had placed our order a good 25–30 minutes before the other groups who were served ahead of us. To be fair, the food itself had some high points—the burritos were flavorful—but the kids' plates were noticeably small portioned and the sausage was overcooked and tasteless, which is surprising considering how simple that item should be to get right. If the service had been even somewhat attentive or timely, I could’ve rated this experience 3 or 4 stars based on food alone. But the service was honestly terrible, and that completely ruined the visit for us. We won’t be returning. I truly hope the owner reads this and considers improving the service—especially for families. Waiting an hour for five meals while larger groups are served first is just not acceptable. A real disappointment. You’re better off heading to Tacos Ensenada or Granny’s Cafe.
Won’t be back second time trying and was disappointed again . Last time I there my egg wasn’t brown but our burrito was very salty . This time eggs way over cooked and they forgot items in our bag
