We initially went next door for Xinjiang halal food but left after nearly an hour of waiting—no silverware, only one soup dish served—and my group had a theater show to catch. We came to this place instead, and the experience was night and day. The service was quick and professional. After we told the waiter we were in a hurry, we literally saw him run back to the kitchen. Thanks to their efficiency, we made it to the show on time. And the noodles? Fresh, flavorful, and a solid 10/10. We’ll definitely be back to try more dishes in the future.
easily the best Chinese restaurant in Palo Alto. incredible staff, menu, and interior. even the tables and chairs are Chinese style. waiters are friendly and helpful. this is real Chinese food, Hunan style. we bring friends there. we've had business dinners there. ask the waiters to recommend dishes. everything we've ever had delicious. Noodle Talk is locally owned by a family.
Always loved noodle talk in Sunnyvale, first time trying their Los Altos location and food was just as good! Since it’s crawfish season, tried out their spicy flavor and also the garlic flavor. Both were soooo good! And it was really big! I misjudged how big the portion was going to be and didn’t finish the rest of my food. Had leftovers for dinner though lol
Our family adores dining at this spot, a haven for spicy food lovers like us. The welcoming atmosphere makes every visit feel special, perfect for family meals. Not only do they cater to adults with their tantalizing spicy dishes, but they also offer kid-friendly noodles, ensuring there's something for everyone. My children are particularly fond of the cabbage with glass noodles – it's their absolute favorite! The highlight for the adults in our group is the 水煮牛肉 (boiled beef in spicy broth), a dish that perfectly captures the essence of spice and flavor we crave. The attentive service complements the dining experience, with staff always ready to make recommendations and ensure we have everything we need. Writing this review has me longing to return for another meal. This restaurant is our go-to for delicious food, a family-friendly atmosphere, and excellent service. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great meal that caters to both adults and children alike.
Delicious Chinese food and pretty authentic flavors. The kongfu boiled fish fillet with hot chili was pretty standard and flavored. Steamed scallop had very good garlic flavor. Highly recommend The boiled vegetables with preserved egg, which was very special and tasty. It was made from broth but not oily. The hams and eggs inside also added unique tastes. We also had beef hot pot before, which is one of their signature dishes and it was very tasty. Overall the prices are not the best among Chinese restaurants but you get really good portions.
Delicious noodles! Spicy and flavorful. Really loved eating here. The only caveat I'd mention about this place is that when we visited, for some inexplicable reason they had the AC blasting and it was freezing cold inside! ☃️ Really wished I would've brought my sweatshirt. Nonetheless, the noodle bowls we got were fantastic. Totally recommend this place! You will be satisfied!
The food taste is great not too spicy which my husband still can manage it however the kitchen music is a bit loud which against the restaurant music The waiter put the wrong dish to our table even after we reconfirm it and the waiter kept saying it's a sautee spinach eventhough clearly that dish isnot . In the middle of our meals they brough our order
We came back a few times to try their different dishes. We particularly like the shredded tofu appetizer, the fish dishes are very good, the eggplant with thousand year egg is special. Many order the noodles soup too. The dish can be a bit spicy and salty . It makes a perfect pairing for the bun or the plain rice .
Authentic Sichuan flavors, perfect for sharing with friends. My friends from the area said this spot was their go-to Chinese restaurant, so we decided to check it out for dinner. They're especially known for their fried pork intestine noodles, which caught my attention. I wasn’t quite in the mood for noodles, so we decided to try the sautéed pork intestines on their own, along with a few other dishes. Sautéed Pork Intestines with Hot Pepper – Most of my experience with pork intestines has been in Korean preparations. Grilled or stir-fried in thick cuts that often stay a bit chewy due to incompletely-rendered fat. This was my first time trying the Chinese-style version, and it was much better than I expected. Thinly sliced and crisped to perfection, each bite was like a savory, spicy chip. Surprisingly light and non-greasy, and the hot peppers gave it a subtle, satisfying burn. Honestly preferred this over most Korean-style intestines I've had. Cabbage Stir-Fry – Another first for me. My Chinese friend called it a classic side dish. The cabbage was seared just right, tender with a savory, umami-rich coating that gave it real flavor. A bit heavy alongside all the other stir-fries, but definitely pulled its weight as a simple, comforting vegetable plate. Boiled Fish, Sautéed Beef, Pork Liver, Mapo Tofu – All consistently solid. Good dishes to fill out the table and share.
Good spicy restaurant with some great dishes and a service usually better than most restaurants I have seen in the area. Has a decent sized seating area. Food is also served pretty fast after you order. Surprisingly for the name, the better dishes are usually not the ones with the noodle in them. It's a bit on the pricier side, but I would pay the premium for the quality and service.
The noodle soup is the standout dish at Noodle Talk with big portions at reasonable prices. The extra noodle serving for only $2 gives you a giant bowl of additional noodles in broth which I highly recommend for sharing purposes. We also ordered the fish hotpot and I wasn't as impressed, the fish had a strong fishy flavor which I didn't enjoy as much but they did add a little bit of spice to balance it out.
Great place for spicy food — almost all the food is spicy! Nice ambience and dishes come on fast. Ordering process and paying the bill on the home was super easy Had a bit of a wait on Saturday night (10 min) but still really fast. Decent portion sizes. The beef shank in the noodles was a bit hard and dry but everything else was pretty good.
Would try and stretch this place to put four stars for the variety of good food selection, restaurant set up and service. Everything ordered was delicious and had its own distinct taste. Please check the spice level of each dish before ordering and ask for the ones you will be able to tolerate. Would highly recommend chicken wings, calamities and beef as appetizers to share. Very good quality furniture has a nice set up to keep the distance during pandemic. Staff is staying busy and sometimes are missed however do give you enough attention to satisfy the needs. Will absolutely come back with occasion.
Excellent authentic Chinese Hunan food, in a decent ambiance. Try the spicy lotus root, pickled long beans and fish with green pepper. There are several mushroom dishes which are great, if you love mushrooms. The restaurant is bright and airy. The staff are attentive and friendly. Come here because you love spicy food.
Avoid this place at all costs. We were a party of 5 and they forced us onto a round table without a word. When the bill came, they slapped on a mandatory 18% tip, claiming it’s a "round table policy" they never bothered to disclose. The service is a joke. They made us pack our own food, and when we complained about the hidden fees, the server actually challenged us to "post it online." Another staff member had a massive attitude, literally snatching away my takeout bags while "cleaning" the table. On top of the robbery, the portions have shrunk significantly compared to previous years. They clearly don't care about customers anymore. Don't waste your money or your breath here. Zero stars if I could.
Ah, the culinary adventure of a lifetime! Where do I even begin with my to go order? The ingredients, oh so "fresh," must have been plucked from the garden of eternal storage. Yes, they cook it to order, but only after those ingredients have had a nice, long nap in the fridge for what I can only assume was weeks. The beef in the fried rice? A masterpiece of desiccation, chopped into such microscopic bits that it resembled potato flakes from the 90s. Truly a vintage touch. And the braised pork belly—what a triumph of endurance! It must have been braising since the dawn of time, as the meat had achieved the texture of a well-loved dishrag. The sweet chicken, meanwhile, was a bold experiment in abstract cuisine: a glistening, gelatinous blob of sugary mystery, with the chicken itself having vanished into the ether. A true magic trick! The waiter, bless his heart, was a delightful human being. But alas, his charm could not resurrect the joy that was drained from my wallet by this $80 "feast." And let’s not forget the menu—a treasure map of scratched-out prices, ensuring every order is a thrilling game of "Guess the Bill." In conclusion, this establishment has earned its place in my hall of fame: the first and last time I’ll ever step foot in this temple of culinary despair. Bravo!
