Opinions de La Copine Yucca Valley
We were surprised to find the place packed at 11 am when they opened. We only waited around 20 minutes and passed the time playing corn hole in the waiting area. I had the Black Tie Latke with salmon and poached egg which was delicious. My wife had the pistachio and artichoke flat bread which was really good as well. The Orange Sickle Panna Cotta was to die for. The staff were prompt and courteous. We will definitely come back to try other stuff, but get a reservation next time.
Incredible oasis in the high desert of Yucca Valley. La Copine is a true gem, serving outstanding farm-to-table food from breakfast through lunch—and it’s all fantastic. Every dish is delicious, the service is warm and on point, and the vibe is relaxed and welcoming. A genuinely amazing find in a place you’d never expect it. I wanted to try everything. I will be back! I arrived Sunday at 3 PM and there was no wait at the chef's table.
Best food I've ever had. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the little store/boutique was so cute with some wine tasting. The owners are amazing women, so grateful to meet them. Overall such a wonderful experience! Making a reservation in advance would be ideal i think, but we did a walk-in and waited about an hour - totally worth the wait! Thank you Nikki, Claire, & staff🫶🏽 can't wait to come back
We thoroughly enjoyed the Lavish Lavash and Ricotta Gnocchi. The coffee and cocktails were delicious. Don't skip out on the beignets! The place was slammed but it gave us time to check out the cute little gift shop in the back. I went home with an adorable T-shirt and socks. This restaurant alone is worth a trip to JT!
We moved from Yucca a few months ago and still talk about how much we miss La Copine. The menu is creative, delicious and so well-thought out. They change it throughout the season which we love- thankfully the fried eggplant always stayed on the menu (that tomato chutney though 😍😍). We always expected a long wait time but were pleasantly surprised when we’d get seated quickly. Every member of the staff is so kind and we were just starting to feel like regulars when we had to move. It’s a gem and well-worth the visit! We loved everything on the menu but our faves were always the fried eggplant, chicken agrodolce, beignets with the coffee glaze, ricotta panna cotta, chicken piccata, whipped ricotta and figs and OMG the ribs- I was sitting a little far from the table one time bc I had my baby on my lap (trying to keep her from grabbing things) and while holding a rib in one hand and the baby with the other, watched as the meat literally slid off the bone and onto the floor- sad moment lol.
Yes, we waited over an hour to be seated over the holiday weekend. Yes, we were told there would be a wait. Yes, tons of people waiting. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY!! We were greeted with a smile and a spot on expectation of the wait. They even had a gift shop w snacks should one be starving! Initially we were seated in a cold outdoor area but quickly were moved near a heater. It was amazing to watch everyone work so well together and anticipate what one another would do. It felt like a very cohesive group of staff w obvious strong leadership to have such awesome teamwork. Now the food - it was delicious! Came out quickly. I was amazed that the tiny little place could hold enough food for the masses of people waiting to eat there!! Can hardly wait to return to try something else on their menu! Thank you for making my experience wonderful! I’ve wanted to eat here for the past 4 yrs and it finally happened!
Best meal in the high desert hands down! I am a local and took my entire family there over Thanksgiving and the meal was superb as always… I have eaten here many times. All the dishes were perfectly done, as always. The whipped ricotta and figs is truly exceptional. The staff and owners are incredibly kind people as well. It’s always best to make a reservation here, as is the case with every fine dining establishment. Thank you La Copine for being such an amazing part of the high desert community!
A very nice restaurant near Joshua Tree. They have a really nice waiting area where you can play games with your friends. The fried eggplant is fresh, crispy, and well-seasoned. The mussels are flavorful but tend to cool down quickly (you need to eat them with the broth). The duck confit is also great and better than most restaurants in the Bay Area. The steak is tender and juicy, served with two perfectly cooked eggs. Lastly, I highly recommend the orange panna cotta! We waited a long time for it, but it was so delicious.
This place is pretty unique, first off the food and service were both very good. No complaints. The menu was interesting and apparently is updated somewhat regularly. I think the restaurant would benefit from a more structured check-in system. I know it takes away from the quirky desert charm to put your name down on an iPad and get a text message when your table's ready, but I think it would make the experience of walking into this restaurant much better. I'm okay waiting a comically long time, I get. That's how supply and demand works and I would rather wait than see the restaurant bump up prices (which they totally could do if they wanted to, and I think they know that). But I'm still giving five stars because it was delicious.
Expect a long wait. My fiancée and I waited for over an hour in the hot desert sun. Despite that, the food made it all worth it. We had the Copine Salad, the fried chicken, and the Lavish Lavash, all of which were incredible. In retrospect I would have made a reservation but the food is to die for and the ambience is super cute as well.
DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE. Oh wow. Just wow. I’m writing this review whilst still sitting in the courtyard. The menu is full of so many interesting items, it makes it almost impossible to choose. Shared the tomatoes, figs and whey, and the brisket sandwich. I almost cried eating the tomato dish, and Ive just ordered another one to go for my dinner. My husband took one bite of the sandwich and said “I felt like my soul needed this”
La Copine absolutely lives up to the hype. Every dish we tried was delicious, but the standout for us was the ceviche — so fresh, bright, and perfectly balanced. The space has a cool, desert-chic vibe and the service was warm and attentive. Cocktails were tasty but definitely on the petite side, more of a sip-and-savor situation than a full pour. Still, a must-visit when you’re in the area!
Fantastic food! If you’re in Joshua Tree / Yucca Valley, La Copine is worth a visit. We arrived for brunch / lunch on a weekday afternoon. There’s plenty of parking provided. There was a short wait to be seated, but they have a semi-shaded sitting area and there’s also a tiny little shop to explore while waiting. Service was awesome from the seating host to our server. The decor is modern and clean. It’s a casual dining affair. My friends and I ordered whipped ricotta with figs, crispy papas, shrimp and grits, fried chicken, shrimp roll, and chocolate beignets for dessert with coffee. One of my friends wanted to order something she saw in a past review on Google Maps and they said that item was no longer offered. They change up the menu periodically, likely according to the season. Regardless, the entree flavors are fantastic. I think we could have ordered any entree and we would have been pleased. We especially enjoyed the whipped ricotta with figs—the honey drizzle had fresh ground black pepper and thyme, giving it an unexpected light zattar like flavor—really delightful! The chocolate beignets we had were likely vegan—we could tell, just FYI. La Copine is approximately 10 minutes away from the Integratron and 20 minutes from the Giant Rock. It’s the perfect stop before your visit to either site.
The food here is so good we had to come two days in a row before driving home. Coming from San Francisco, we know good food. Everything was good but the shrimp and grits, and citrus and beets salad are a must try. Each staff member we encountered was kind and welcoming. What an unexpected surprise in this area. 10/10 would recommend!
A hidden gem amongst the Joshua Trees and desert critters! The Denver cut steak was one of the best I’ve ever had, and everything else was fresh and delicious. Email them for a reservation; they accept walk-in’s but there’s no guarantee (and little chance) you’ll be seated. You won’t regret a visit to La Copine!
We rented a Airbnb in Landers. Our daughter made reservations for an late lunch, early dinner on Sunday. All meals were very good. I had the Steak Sando, very tender, delicious. Other meals at the table were the flat bread, gnocchi in vodka sauce, chicken piccata, and the pork and beans. All plates were licked clean. We sat outside, we had a dog with us. Only complaint tables were packed together and felt a little cramped.
Big fan of the fried eggplant! Nice and crispy, seasoned well, dipping (marinara?) sauce is delish too
Absolutely fantastic, no disappointments here, with food or service. I wish I could say the same for the atmosphere, but the seats are not comfortable. But other than that it is an elevated experience to have lunch there. It's the proverbial oasis in the desert kind of a find. If your interested in fresh takes on modern dishes, you should try this place.
This experience was unacceptable on multiple levels and frankly disturbing. The menu is badly outdated and misleading. What is described as seasonal and creative is neither. The dishes felt frozen in time, heavy, unimaginative, and poorly executed. We ordered multiple items and not one felt fresh or thoughtfully prepared. Several plates arrived lukewarm, with components clearly made long before service. Flavors were flat, dated, and careless. This is food that might have impressed years ago, but today it feels lazy and out of touch, especially given the price. Service was chaotic and disorganized. We waited an excessive amount of time before even being acknowledged, then waited again between courses with no explanation. Water glasses were left empty. Requests were forgotten or ignored entirely. There was no apology, no attempt to manage expectations, and no sense that anyone was in control of the room. What crossed the line completely was the behavior of the owner. During our visit, comments were made directly to our table that were inappropriate and targeted. The tone and wording singled people out in a way that felt discriminatory and hostile. The remarks carried clear racial undertones and immediately made the table uncomfortable. It was not subtle, and it was not a misunderstanding. The moment changed the entire experience from bad to shocking. Hearing this language in a public restaurant from the owner was deeply unsettling. The atmosphere reflects the same lack of care. Loud, tense, and poorly managed. Staff looked stressed, guests were visibly frustrated, and nothing about the space felt welcoming. The chaos is not charming. It feels like a place that has lost accountability and is coasting on an old reputation. This restaurant is overrated and undeserving of its praise. Between the stale menu, incompetent service, and offensive behavior, there is no justification for the prices or the hype. I would not return under any circumstances and would strongly advise others to take their business elsewhere.
