We came here to celebrate Valentine’s Day and my birthday a little early. Gorgeous romantic atmosphere. My favorite was the scallop roll. It had a delicious hint of citrus; good creamy texture with a perfect finish of seaweed. The oysters were also great. The quality of the fish was perfect, and we appreciated the creativity that went into each dish. We sat at the bar and got to see them pick fresh herbs to use as garnish in the rolls. We didn’t try the omakaze because I wanted to try a little of everything off the menu. The mocktails were ok. I was looking for something like a sweet mixture with pineapple juice. But otherwise, it wasn’t bad. Great restaurant, would come again.
our favorite sushi spot! the fish is always super fresh, and the service is amazing every time. my personal favs are the karaage, bgb sake crudo, and the spicy tuna hand roll.
Wow! The food is amazing , the service AMAZING! Victoria was fantastic, and the whole team. Our new place for Sushi.
Omakase is excellent and is of good value. Fish is fresh, delicious, and properly cut. Dishes are creative and combinations of ingredients are well selected. Service is on point: courses come out promptly and at a good pace and the wait staff are very attentive and courteous. My only criticism is that the price of the premium a la carte nigiri, such as hotate fois gras and Wagyu Uni, is about twice the price of the same at Kata Robata.
Tonight was our first time to try Aiko and we were very impressed. We had the NYE Omakase and some additional nigiri, and everything was exceptionally good. The fish quality was very good, as well as course composition. A bonus for the evening was the hall entrance to the restrooms, such a fun amd picture worthy display. We will definitely go back!
Amazing food and service!! Sushi/nigiri super fresh - melts in your mouth. Donald (our waiter) had great recommendations. Happy hour has an abundance of nigiri selections. Refreshing drinks. Will come again! Came here a few months later and it was still amazing and exceptional. My new sushi/nigiri spot! Maya took great care of us and we never had to wait. Service is 20/10!!
Aiko is hands-down one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve been to. The fish was incredibly fresh, and every hand roll and dish was prepared with so much care and flavor. The quality truly felt top-notch. Our server, Vika D,made the experience even better. She was attentive, kind, and knowledgeable about the menu, and her service was outstanding from start to finish. If you’re looking for fresh, high-quality sushi paired with great service, Aiko is the place to go. Highly recommend!
What a fantastic addition for Houston's Sushi scene. Aiko, simply put is phenomenal. Upon entering, we were seated promptly for our reservation. The place is on the smaller side, intimate, but because of the table arrangements, you'll be close to other diners. It can get loud, but it was never an issue communicating. In all honesty, it was extremely difficult to hear what the waitress was saying and not so much my SO. The Food: A+ and outstanding. It was our first time, so we opted for Omakase since it had a nice variety; it did not disappoint! The freshness of the fish was spectacular. The way they pair their fish with different garnish, spices, sauces, etc really complimented the fish. I can truly say not a single bite was underwhelming. We chose to order additional rounds of our favorite pieces, and again, exceptional and consistent. Drinks were fabulous (large selection of Japanese Whiskey!). The dessert at the end...I'll be lying to you if I told you what the hell I was eating, but it was out of this world delicious. I'm not a "sweet" guy; this dessert was tart and fresh and just amazing. I highly recommend this place; it's an absolute no brainer for those who love high quality sushi with a nice ambiance and location!
This was our second visit while visiting from San Antonio, and it was just as amazing as the first time! The sushi was incredibly fresh, cocktails were great, and the desserts were awesome. Our server, Donald, was excellent , friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely come back every time we’re in Houston!
Took my family here for their birthdays and chose the omakase for everyone… it was an incredible experience that we all enjoyed! The drinks, atmosphere, and food were all top notch. Highly recommend for a special occasion or anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. Parking can be tricky however there are lots nearby, just hide your valuables because like any place in Houston you’re at risk lol.
We went to Aiko on a Thursday night for their their omakase. We went without reservations, and there was no longer any seating at the sushi bar, but there was a couple of tables left in the main seating area. They have a happy hour with a nice array of nigiri and other options, some good beverages as well. They had a $45 happy hour omakase which was I believe six courses but we opted for the $125. The sushi overall was excellent. I thought it was comparable to places like Hachi and Aya wrt value and somewhat similar to Soto, though definitely not as over-the-top as Soto's presentations were. The pacing was pretty decent for having oMakase at a seated table, with the overall time course being about, oh, an hour and a half for a 12-course omakase. The service was okay, though it was rather busy, and they did try to accommodate for us when we asked them to speed up the end of the dinner as we had to leave relatively early. Overall, I thought the dinner was excellent, and the experience was great. I would definitely come back again. My favorite nigiri was the kanpachi and the chutoro.
Nice ambience, lovely waiters, and great food! Happy hour until 630pm on Saturday! Karaage HH $8 - 5/5 Nicely done & sauce was great. Omakase HH $45 - 5/5 Really good! - Starter was the Kelp Salad - Crudo was the BGB King Salmon Sashimi, - 4 Nigiris (Flounder, Striped Jack, Seabream, and Mackerel) - Handroll was the BGB King Salmon Omakase $55 - 4/5 - Starter was Edamame - Crudo was the BGB King Salmon Sashimi - 5 Nigiris (Flounder, ?, Striped Jack, Seabream, Mackerel) - Handroll was - Mochi 0/5 I didn’t like it the skin was so bad I had to spit it out. It tastes like the store brought mochi. Was really looking forward to it but got disappointed. Spicy Tuna Maki HH (6) $14 5/5 Not bad! The fried onion topping was a great addition! Negitoro Maki (6) 5/5 Fatty Tuna with Caviar Kani Maki 5/5 I’m a crab lover and I always order this :)
The food was outstanding—especially the Wagyu steak and the salmon belly, which were my favorites. While I really enjoyed the dishes, the restaurant was quite loud, and it was difficult to hear my date, which took away from the ambiance a bit. That said, we still had a wonderful time. The service was excellent—if you go, definitely ask for Maya, she took amazing care of us.
Went to Aiko for a friend’s birthday on what turned out to be a packed restaurant week night, but the food held its ground. The salmon crudo was a standout—bright, delicate, and layered. If you’re into Uchi’s kinoko mushrooms, you’ll catch a similar earthy depth here. The foie gras tilted more toward the candied side than the savory, but not in a way that offends. What makes Aiko shine is how it elevates what their sister spot Handies does so well. The handrolls you’d usually enjoy casually are given a more polished stage here—perfect for a proper night out. Even in the bustle, Aiko felt thoughtful and refined—a spot where precision meets atmosphere, and the details don’t get lost in the crowd.
Had the Omakase at Aiko while my girlfriend tried the Houston Restaurant Week menu, and both were excellent. The standout for me was the Kampachi (amberjack) super memorable. The Chutoro and Masu Kunsei were also highlights I’d come back for on their own. I paired the meal with Demon Slayer sake and tried their purple Japanese bourbon both great. The HRW menu was generous in portions, with the chocolate dessert being the clear winner. Friendly staff, lively atmosphere, and food that exceeded expectations. Highly recommend both the Omakase and HRW menu.
Lunch omakase can be risky, but Aiko totally gets it right. Standouts: • The sake crudo (salmon + chili garlic + ponzu) = must-order. Bright, silky, a right spicy • Akami (lean tuna): so clean and tender. The Rest: • Shima aji, sawara, hamachi… fresh, well-made, and a joy to eat. No overthinking, just good fish. • The chicken karaage? Crunchy, juicy, gone in seconds. Don’t skip it if you’ve got a hungry crew. • Snow crab roll…eh, a little heavy on the mayo (or whatever creamy sauce was happening). Not bad, but I’d save the stomach space for more nigiri. Vibe: Chill, modern, easy for friends, family, or a low-key date. Service: Fast, friendly, and genuinely attentive. Zero complaints here. Final Take: Aiko’s omakase lunch is officially worth your time and money in Houston. If you love sushi that lets the fish shine, you’ll be happy here.
My SO and I went to Aiko on a whim but I’m so glad that we did! The food is fantastic, you cannot miss out on the omakase, which has a lot of variety and options for a very fair price. Everything was so flavorful, carefully arranged with attention to detail. All of the nigiri were buttery and good quality fish. We loved the sake Tigre crudo which had a generous serving of salmon with a delicious pistachio sauce. The Hirame, kinmedai, masu kunsei, and chutoro and otoro were all amazing nigiri’s. We actually felt full after the omakase was completed and didn’t need to order any other dishes. There was also a dessert included - the semifreddo- which was lightly sweet and citrusy with a cheesecake like bar and a brittle which added nice texture Also the service was great and all the dishes arrived promptly with good timing to avoid piling up of dishes or too long between dishes. Shout out to our server Lisa! I definitely loved the food and will be back to try more!
This was a fantastic experience. We did the lunch Omasake and it was outstanding. So much food for the price and we were rolling out! The flavor combinations were so great. And the staff was so knowledgeable about the menu and attentive! It was all stellar. Definitely going to come back but will make sure to not eat anything for dinner the night before or breakfast!
We recently came here for 713 day and participated in their promo - $7 crudo, $1 oysters, and $3 hot sake. The crudos were fantastic. We really liked the maguro crudo the best in terms of overall flavor but they were all wonderful to try especially for its price. The oyster has aguachile salsa on top that tastes really good, however the downside is we don’t get to taste much of the raw oyster itself. I would maybe add a little less salsa to let more of the oyster flavor shine. The chicken karaage was excellent, the chicken had a perfect crisp to it. The fish quality here is also excellent and is on par with other comparable high end sushi restaurants. The ambiance here is great - they have opaque curtains and table lamps for mood lighting. Good vibes for a date night. They also have a rubber ducky theme going on which adds charm to the restaurant.
This was my first time to this restaurant. The lobby is super cute and after you enter into the main dining area you’ll be surprised how intimately it’s been setup. Food: We ordered a lot of different small plates to try their menu. Overall all of their dishes were filled with unique and delicious flavors. If you are allergic to raw food let them know so they can recommend alternatives. Images for all the different dishes we ordered are added to this review. This is a perfect location for date night and expect somewhere between $180-$230 for two people. (Excluding any wine or alcohol pairing) Id definitely go here again and try the other dishes.
Went during Houston Restaurant Week and had a great time! We enjoyed the 4 course meal for $55. The atmosphere is very intimate and romantic. I would say ideally for a party of 4 or less. Pros: service was attentive, fish quality was great, I liked the hidden ducks! Con: it got really loud in there. I was sitting across my partner and couldn't hardly hear her. Not necessarily the restaurants fault, I think the industrial feel just had no sound absorption.
I tried the omakase at Aiko, and while the presentation and menu variety were solid, the flavors just didn’t hit the way I expected for the price point. The fish quality was fresh and the nigiri lineup looked beautiful, but the overall flavor profile leaned a little too sweet or too salty for my palate. Instead of balancing each other out, some dishes felt like they were fighting each other. The sauces and seasonings didn’t blend as seamlessly as other omakase spots in Houston. The menu itself was creative, and I appreciated the mix of cold dishes, hand rolls, nigiri flights, and a refreshing dessert at the end. But in terms of flavor execution compared to other high-end omakase places in the city, it just wasn’t on the same level for me. Aesthetically, everything was gorgeous just not as memorable taste-wise as I hoped, especially considering the price.
Another Restaurant Week first try, Aiko. While it was good, I was informed that it was compared to Katami. I'd say it compares more to Kata Robata. The hostess, however was rude to our guest on his arrival. Not sure if it was racial or common practice. But I was ready to leave, if it wasn't for my other guests wanting to stay. We arrived for our reservation of 3. Promptly seated before our 3rds arrival, noting they were close by. On their arrival, speaking with the hostess, he noted we were inside seated. Hostess told him, "all parties are full and seated." Wouldn't allow him to go back. Luckily I texted him, where to find us and that we've been seated. Once he showed her the text, she finally allowed him to go behind the curtain to join us. Now that that's out the way, the starter menu. Get the Oysters!! It's a must. We order 2 more sets after the first, that's how good they are. Unfortunately on our visit they were out of a variety of items we were there to try. Such as the A5 Wagyu Toast, Otoro, Hamachi Hara, Engawa, among others. Per the server: this was in due to being slammed that weekend due to restaurant week. #restaurantweek We started off with the Omakase Special as our beginning courses. As it had 3-4 of the choices we were wanting to try. Then ordered other dishes from there. Not one item was bad, the freshness and flavors always came through. Definitely worth a visit and try if you enjoy Omakase style establishments. The Muskmelon - sweet lemon at the end was also a nice finishing touch. I'd suggest people to try if they have never had it. Just to be clear - Our server was Excellent - she was prompt, made suggestions on our preferences, and a delight to be served by. I rated the establishment low on service solely on how the Hostess poorly handled my guest. Average price per person here will easily reach 100+ Apologies for the darker photos & videos, lighting is harder in a dark lit room. We would love to try the items we went for on our next visit, but hard to know when they would be available again. Until next time.
