We had an amazing teppanyaki experience with Chef Richie. We enjoyed all the jokes and tricks. In general, the food is above average and the cocktails are nice. It’d be great if the main courses can be served one by one, so that the food will not get cold on our plates.

Nice and friendly staff. Food is delicious. I loved the salad with their special sauce. The soup and salad comes with the meal which also includes some rice and vegetables that are being cooked in front of you. The chef puts a brief good show for entertainment. Make sure to be really hungry when you arrive.

Really looking bed the comfort feeling and excitement when the chef was cooking our food, very interactive and personal even of there were 3 other couples around us. Food tasted great, good seasoning and above average compared to other cuisines like this. Food is on the upper side of moderate to expensive but the experience makes up for it, service was great too, would recommend for a birthday!

It is an exciting experience in a chill out environment where you can actually talk and take your time to eat. The chef was quick and a humble showman. We spent 2.5 hours on a Sunday afternoon and I would happily do it again as the place wasn't packed.

Awesome cooking-experience. We had a blast! Our chef was funny and highly skilled. If you have time and enough money (😜) Benihana is the right place to eat Japanese teppanyaki!

Enjoyed every bit of it! the chef was really friendly! food was amazing! a bit expensive, but we pay for the experience and not just the food, so no complaint on that! thank you, would visit again in future.

Caption: A real filling treat. Occasion: Went there for a birthday dinner. Ordered: Spring rolls for starters, the Seafood Palace for main, and swapped regular rice with egg fried rice. No dessert. The main dish comes with a side salad, soup and plain rice. The food was more than generous and we were overly stuffed. The ginger sauce to accompany the meals elevated the taste and is a must try. Service: While waiting staff were friendly, the true service was provided by the chef, Francis. If you do visit, ask for him, he was absolutely hilarious! Facilities: Everything was clean and there was ample space, we had the table to ourselves. Location: tucked in the corner of Piccadilly, the place was moderately busy for a weekday afternoon. Price: Starting from around £25 for mains, their prices are reasonable for what it is, a live performance with a main dish and sides to match. I paid £80 for my order (which includes a 12.5% service fee - so don't worry about tipping), there are other items on the menu that are cheaper. Recommend? Yes! If you are going there prepare to be interactive with your chef. In my opinion, they are only extra funny and open when they receive positive affirmation while performing.

This is a fantastic restaurant with reasonable prices. The chefs know their stuff in how to make cooking food entertaining! And it has a warm and friendly feel. I would highly recommend this to anyone

Honestly one of the best blue steaks I've ever had. 10 stars for Pedro (chef) especially but also the rest of the waiting and bar staff I spoke to. Brilliant service. Cannot think of a single thing wrong with this venue other than the fact they are apparently closing! I will definitely be following them over to Covent Garden in 2022.

Loved the experience. The chef introduced himself and produced a wonderful meal. One downside is my favourite drink wasn't available but nevertheless still good! Love when they dim the lights down and do the fire train from the onions! Will come again

Amazing food and great entertainment by your own table chef! Been a few times and have never been disappointed. BTW those who love steak, the chateaubriand is worth upgrading to as much much better then the average steak.

Morenike Folorunsho

The chef performed many tricks with his utensils! Weirdly Google won’t allow me to post the videos from my mobile! Check out the pictures! Flavours were balanced and complimented my palate! Dessert was phenomenally assembled and a generous portion for one person! Perfect for a gathering with work colleagues or family! I got the Hibachi Chicken, perfect spend as it came with x2 starters, and the mains.

Loved it. Took my wife here for her birthday. The atmosphere is great, service is amazing and the show is even better. Chicken and wagyu beef is halal. Our main came with a prawn appetiser, miso soup, salad, rice and vegetables. Their mocktails are really nice as well. Bill came to around £80 for two people. Not bad considering the quality and experience. They also sang happy birthday for my wife in English and Japanese. Will definitely come back with a larger group next time and try the wagyu beef

One of my favourite restaurants in London. Other than the food being very tasty, I love the entertainment provided by the personal chefs as they prepare each dish right before your eyes. I've eaten at this restaurant over 7 times.

M

This is the party restaurant , the place to celebrate birthdays and be involved with the antics of the chef and their cooking skills . Food choices are amazing, but the excitement of seeing prepared infront of you is the pull of this chain

We ordered wagyu and seafood set menu. The food is quite expensive but the environment is delightful and the chef is funny and hilarious! It’s a lovely and memorable experience having a Japanese meal here!

Our first time at Benihana for teppanyaki and we were totally amazing and impressed with our experience. Chef was super entertaining and full of energy. Our kids were totally consumed by his skills from popping eye into his chef hat to his flaming volcano !!! We enjoyed the steak, lobster and scallops accompanied by super taste sake selection !!! Highly recommend a visit for an evening of entertainment by super skillful chef.

Loved it from start to finish. Delicious food. Nice atmosphere. I can only recommend. The only I would improve is the ladies toilet.

Lovely dinner at Benihana 🤤 Was a wonderful experience and for a reasonable price too! I went for Land & Sea (filet mignon & black cod) - delicious and very filling. In fact so filling I couldn’t even finish the rice and salad. Had a yummy Dead Man’s Tea Cocktail too 🍹😋 The restaurant was big, staff were friendly, chefs were amazing with their teppanyaki skills (my second experience I think, different restaurant). I even watched the guy sitting opposite inhale all his food as it came, as I was such a slow eater, but enjoyed eating a fully plated meal.

N

Absolutely fabulous restaurant! One of the best restaurants I've ever been to in my life! Everything was so smooth and well organised from both floor staff, reception and the chef David. It was the first time I'd ever been to a teppanyaki restaurant and I now have such a huge appreciation for how skilled and artistic the chefs are. David entertained us whilst cooking absolutely delicious food that is heaven! It was a birthday celebration and the staff brought out a little cake and the staff sang happy birthday in Japanese at the end of the meal which was a really lovely touch :) The bill came to £110 for 2 of us including 2 cocktails at around £13 each and main courses were probably also £20 each however you get lots of sides with the main such as onion soup (sounds horrible but is actually lovely), salad, sauces, prawns. There is a 12.5% service charge but you're happy to pay it as the staff are so brilliant! They also cater for vegetarians, however I wouldn't recommend if you're vegan as all food is cooked on the one hot plate. Please go and visit!

We were greeted warmly by Marian and our chef Marlon was very good. Very entertaining and food was cooked to perfection. Safety standards were adhered to.

K

Even though my favourite food is Italian, this is my favourite restaurant. I do suspect that portion sizes are reducing slightly in recent years. Note, Japanese Wagyu beef is more marbled than Australian, so request as you see fit if you are ordering the Wagyu. My recommendation: Benihana Royal. The beef cut is still very nice and you get the other bits with it for cheaper too.

Top restaurant, top chefs, top service, do you want to go out with your family, friends, or as a couple and the food is lovely. Excellent cuisines. The service is great, the staff super friendly and the price is reseanable.

The atmosphere was very chilled and even though we were late they still managed to work outs table for us! The chef was really cool, and fun for all ages🔥🔥. Overall it was slightly pricy but the service was impeccable and the cocktails perfect!👍🏿

A little bit expensive but worth an experience! You won't be disappointed with fresh food, skillful chefs, amazing Japanese BBQ and nice reception here.

Fab fab fab!! Used to go when I was much younger, they have still retained the gorgeous taste of their scrumptious ginger sauce and tempuras and everything else that I used to adore as a child!! The prawn and the egg fried rice...simply the best! They also offer some halal dishes now so you don't have to keep to the seafood if you require halal meat!

A

Amazing food, with entertaining chef which all adds to the fun of a meal out here. I have never been disappointed when choosing Benihana for a meal out with friends and family

S

The chef was great! Made us all laugh and made the experience a memorable one! Also the chicken and wagyu beef are halal! Well you can ask for the halal option. Definitely be returning soon

Love this Benihana, it’s big and the Chefs are amazing. I had the Tempura ice which was amazing we got 2 plates and shared it between 3. Crunchy on the outside beautiful ice cream on the inside. Real happy. The seafood Diablo was AMAZING 🤤🤯😁

Excellent Martin looked after us with drinks etc. and Charlie looked after us with his culinary art and delicious food. Looking forward to next time.

A

The overall experience was nice and entertaining. There were a limited number of cooks so we had to wait a good 20 mins before we were cooked for. The food was good but not amazing - not enough salt or spice (half star deducted). The cook was funny and a great blast to watch. The server was ok, but showed preference to other customers over us - bias towards white customers...? Not sure, but it was obvious and weird (half star deducted). Would recommend as an experience for an occasion, but wouldn't go more than once.

Came as a group for new year's eve dinner and we really enjoyed ourselves. The menu was different to the usual daily a la carte menu. There was a lot of choice and variety and it was good value for money. The dishes ranged from miso soup, sushi, salad, rice, chicken, seafood and dessert. What makes it even more special are the chefs cooking in front of you to and showing their skills. Overall, a very good and enjoyable evening.

I went there for my 30th birthday meal which was booked by my husband. The experience in there was great. I loved watching the chef cook my food in front of me and enjoyed socialising with them. Really grateful to be able to eat halal chicken on the menu. Food is expensive, but experience was nice and worth it. I ate the ‘hibachi chicken’ which I think needed more flavour and was quite dry but to be honest I wanted to go there more for the experience. When you sit with other customers it feels like you’re on an excursion abroad because we’re all experiencing this together and end up saying bye to each other.

M

Great Teppanyaki place!! The staff was so nice and fun, our chef was just so entertaining - we loved it! It’s such a fun and yummy experience! It was just a tiny bit expensive for me to be coming back as often as I’d wish:)

I

A great experience, the birthday girl really enjoyed the kids menu especially the onion soup and "the chef cooking on our table" the steak and prawns were spot-on with the mustard dip. As a treat it works but a little pricey to be more than that.

D
Dmitrij

Was interesting to watch our chef to cook but we felt a little bit rushed with food coming in every 5-7min and it felt that we had to adjust to his cooking pace and not the other way around. We were 3 couples at the table and the full experience lasted maximum 40minutes. Maybe it’s just me but I imagined at least an hour. I know it’s not chef’s choice and it was quite busy so he had other tables to serve. Also men’s toilet needs some renovation. Overall good.

T
Tarun Yadav

Went for a Sunday lunch - large group with kids. Kids absolutely loved it. Interactive cooks - make onion volcano fires, flashy tricks with knives... kids loved it! Food was pretty good too. Recommend Tempura shrimp starter (in a lovely wasabi infused mayo dressing). Then recommend Hibachi Lunch - prawns. Served with Egg fried rice - delightful! AVOID: Black Miso Cod @ £42. Average compared to Nobu, Novikov across the road. Stick with Prawns; also Cocktails were decidedly average. Took one sip of cherry infused yoghurt drink - wished I'd gone for Asahi instead. All in all, good meal out; excellent for kids. RECOMMEND.

H I G H L Y R E C O M M E N D E D What an experience for a night out. The food is fab, party menu is ideal for a table of 10+ We had a small wait past our booking but happy with the service none the less.

Great fun and entertaining for everyone. We had a chef who really interacted with us and made the experience really fun. The food was tasty but the service was slow for drinks and getting the bill.

H
Hasan S

The experience of seeing the food being prepared and cooked before you was fantastic. The staff are really entertaining and pleasant and made an effort to sing happy birthday to our party. Unfortunately the food was a little bit of a let down. The chicken was seasoned only with salt, pepper and teriyaki sauce - overall quite bland. The prices are also pretty high. Expect to pay £20-30 for lunch and £30-£40 for a dinner.

A

Lovely birthday dinner with my boyfriend! The location is very nice and easy to get to. Kind staff will welcome you and they will always be available throughout the evening. The menu is full of choices ( If you are not vegan) and we loved the typical and original cocktail range. I had he Ikigai cocktail which was with rhubarb, elderflower and a sort of Asian tequila and I absolutely loved it! The way it was presented was quite scenographic as well. I had the tuna fish steak and by boyfriend decided on the diablo seafood noodles. Before that we were given a nice different version of miso soup (it had some fried onion inside). The best and entertaining part is obviously when the chef came to grill our food. He was super skilled and we really enjoyed the show! I would recommend it for a special occasion.

Spring rolls were amazing🤤 did not take a pic they were that good I ate it straight away. I have not been to benihana for years! Thought I take my nephew for a birthday meal (they gave him bday ice cream and sang happy birthday to him, which I thought was really sweet) I would have given it 5* but they need a refurbishment, the restaurant could do with a do over. Other than that it was a nice experience.

G

Very nice food if a little pricey. It was great fun having our own personal chef which I guess is what you pay for! Would definitely go again - great place for a big group or 8 or celebrating birthdays.

It was a great experience seeing the food Bieng cooked infront of you . HOWEVER. The egg friend rice is very disappointing, I’ve tasted better in takeaways . Prawn tempuras were nice. Onion soup is great/ and the japanese WAYGU beef was WOWWW. But I ordered salmon , I was so disappointed no flavouring just bland salmon. They need to better in terms of adding flavour .. it’s Dosent have to be intense , but it’s was bland period. But go for the experience . I appreciate it gets busy but waiting time to pay was abit long and also for when I wanted dessert . But they need to add flavour to the some of the foods as I’ve mentioned above to make it that extra five stars ..

A good place for once only. Expensive and a bit of a pantomime. After you have seen the chef bang his knives a lot and throw things into his hat, well you have seen it all. Food was good, but no better than any Asian food place. You can't really do egg fried rice wrong! My advice, walk a few yards down the road and go to China town for real food.

M
Mei

although the chef was amazing-great technique on tepayaki, food was tasty, the services were not so ok. Staff were rude and inpatient generally. It's not what I would expect for the spend level. it's quite expensive.

A
Ana Cardoso Cachopo

Food was good, the chef serving our table was nice, and the restaurant looks good. But considering the price, I think there are much better options in London.

L
Lai

More theatrics than about the food itself. Fun to watch and a novelty but food was very plain even with the sauce. I ordered steak and it was a wet steak, not seared on the outside. Definitely paying for the performance and not the food. Won't go again.
