Didn't think cheese on toast and a scotch egg could taste so good. Scones were lovely too. Service was good and staff were very polite and friendly. Definitely will be back

My first experience at The Parlour and I’ll be sure to go back. I had the vegan Red Velvet cake and it was beyond incredible. Never had such a delicious red velvet - let alone vegan! Three tiers of sheer joy. Really loved the extra fruit in between the slice and the buttercream was amazing. Washed down with a glass of bubbly. What a treat!! Compliments to the chef

We had a wonderful lunch. Lobster roll and charcuterie/cheese selection. Food was amazing and the staff were lovely. Thank you.

It was such a busy Sunday, but despite the initial 15-20min wait to get a table, the service was excellent, the food and coffee delicious. Very clean, our food arrived very quickly and everyone was nice and polite! Thank you, we’ll visit again!

So fun getting to experience high tea here. Beautiful, delicious, and every detail cared for. Would highly recommend.

Probably the best place in London for a dessert. It was Christmas so it was crowded and busy and we had to wait a while but it was worth it. The food was great and the staff were lovely.

Loved the collab w Charles Mackesy with his beautiful illustrations and quotes plastered over the entire cafe. The table papermat with the menu had some child engagement on the flipside and the cafe provide coloured pencils to entertain little ones. The sweet treat with champagne and a choice of cake / scones and afternoon tea set was perfect and economical. For 4 pax, we spent less than 80 pounds and had a very satisfying afternoon tea. Loved the Beef & Guinness pie as well as the gingerbread cake. The cherry sundae was delicious too with plenty of kirsch cherries. The staff were so kind to light up a candle on request for a surprise birthday celebration for one of us.

We went there for the afternoon tea. It’s a bit pricey but it is totally worth it. The service was great and the finger bite food was excellent. It’s unlimited service. The staff is very friendly and they explain everything about the menu. It’s a great experience and tradition that you have to try at least once. There are many locations that offer afternoon tea, but by far Fortnum & Mason has the best review in town base on my research. The store itself is also very nice, they 5-6 floors of various items to shop. They have two location in London. One is in the central part of London and another location on the East side. The East side is smaller and does not offer unlimited afternoon tea but it’s also cheaper. I like the central London location which is the main location. Highly recommend it.

Came on a whim. Didn’t know what to choose and I ended up getting carrot cake. It was humongous! Definitely not a portion for one person. The decaf latte was nice and it came with a complimentary mini cutesy vanilla ice cream in a cone. Service was prompt and courteous.

I just came here to try the scones since we didn’t want to pay so much for afternoon tea. It was so worth it! The scones were really good as well as the clotted cream and jam. The strawberry jam was delicious! You get the two scones (1 plain and 1 fruit - I requested 2 plain scones and they said yes!), clotted cream and jam for £8.95. I do wish the scones were a bit bigger since they tasted so good! I highly recommend coming here if you’d just like to try their famous scones!

This casual café is a gem where you can enjoy some of the best scones in London. They serve cream tea (tea with scones) all day long, which is a real treat! I always order their Welsh rarebit sandwich and the crumpets when they're available definitely ask for them to be toasted properly. The quiche is also excellent. Despite the somewhat stiff and rigid staff and hostess, I keep coming back for those amazing scones!

I couldnt of been any more spoilt by the staff for my birthday!! We even got little ice creams for our bears we brought along too. Ice creams so full of flavour, my latte was a good strong coffee which just hit the spot!! Also the little mini ice cream you also get with the coffees are a great little touch😃😃

Are the prices insane? Yes. Is the food menu limited? Yes. Is it loud with noise from the store? Also yes. But they really do make an amazing, beautiful, oversized ice cream. Maybe eat elsewhere and come here for dessert :)

Andres looked after us really well. Tea was excellent especially the smokey earl grey. The shrimp burger tasted amazing and fresh. The scones were also good too. Lovely place to have a rest and seating was comfortable.

It's a must while visiting London. There are teas, cookies and other products that you can only find there! Plus, the building is definitely worth visiting.

Amazing service, was sat straight away at the bar. Loved sitting here as we could watch how everything was made and really get a good experience. Our orders were taken and I had a milkshake with a raspberry ripple and strawberry combo, and whipped cream. No word of a lie, this was easily the best milkshake over ever had in my life, and I’d go all the way back to F&M just for this! Overall a great experience, and would highly recommend!

When I visit London, a trip to a quintessential British icon is always on the cards. ‘The Parlour’ at Fortnum’s is always a great experience, even if the prices may be a little on the high side. The ‘Parlour Tea’ (Set menu) offers a good selection of items from the main menu, with my choice on this occasion, the Elegant Rarebit and a duo of scones (plus an iced coffee). The food hit the proverbial spot, tasty, fresh and very well presented. I would always recommend a visit here and while your at it, take a look around the lower floors for lots of other food inspiration.

Great store with delicious tea types. Court supplier and that can be seen in the offer and the beautiful chic boxes of tea. You can also have a tea or an ice cream at your leisure. You will find a lot of food. Actually, you should have visited this store when you are in London.

This is one of my favourite places in London for a guilty treat! Although it is relatively expensive with sundaes costing approximately £14, the offerings are delicious and the Parlour is quirky and attractive. Staff are polite and welcoming and the service is generally efficient. There are a number of sundaes on the menu, along with the option to have single scoops of ice cream or to build your own sundae, choosing the ice creams and toppings. We also tried breakfast items this time; Welsh rarebit and pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Both were delicious. Whilst The Parlour usually operates an online booking system we were told this is not the case in the winter and were indeed seated within two minutes of arrival. It is a suitable dessert restaurant for all the family, and a great place to celebrate a birthday if you love ice cream. On your way out, it is well worth a trip downstairs to purchase an exceptional scotch egg or sausage roll (both of which can be heated up). I highly recommend the caramelised onion or streaky bacon scotch eggs and the classic sausage roll.

Went to The Parlour on the 21rst of August, round 7 PM (if I remember well). I was in a hurry because I had to take a train, and I was feeling very very low due to a nervous breakdown and very tense conversations and fights I had had earlier that day and the day before with my husband. When I arrived, a lady server showed me to a table. I told her I already knew what I wanted to order but she didn't listen to me and just told me someone would come. But after at least 10 minutes, nobody had come. So I eventually got up and informed a server passing by that I hadn't been served yet. He seemed surprised I hadn't been served yet and very soon came to take my order. All the time I was feeling extremely low and sad and I eventually started crying, hiding my eyes in my hands. When the server came back, he saw I had been crying and asked if it was due to him. He was all the time very polite, curteous and attentive to me, in a very respectable way. It helped me feel a bit better. He told me the carrot cake I had ordered was cold so I could have it warmed up or eat it cold. As I was in a hurry, I chose to eat it cold. I had also ordered 2 ice cream balls. When I eventually went to pay, the server told me there was no charge because the carrot cake was free as it was cold, and a lady sitting at a table near mine had paid for my ice cream. She had seen me cry and didn't want me to know she had paid for it. I was truly deeply touched and it brightened up my day. Dear lady, if ever you see this comment, thank you with all my heart ! And thank you also and especially to the kind server, rather short sized, dark hair and dark complexion, who was so attentived and kind to me. You also brightened up my day and helped me feel a little better ! He also gave me, for free, a nice pitsachio tart. And I forgot to say, the carrot cake and ice creams were really very good and there was a lot of them ! I had no idea there would be so much. I had stopped to eat there because I had been walking a long distance and was feeling faint when I arrived, and just stopped there because it was the nearest, but the prices were a lot for my budget (though I think the food deserved it!). And so I ended up with a nice nourishing tea for free, due to the kindness of the server and the kind lady.

I was there around 11:00 with a reservation, but it wasn’t busy. After 5 minutes, the place filled up with tourists. Reservation recommended. The service was impeccable. The food was always delicious, the teas were tasty, and the ice cream was so good.

Such a wonderful place for breakfast and lunch, great alternative to the main high tea (which is quite expensive if you only want scones and tea). Mr.Boon, our server was absolutely phenomenal and made the experience all the more special!

Today between 11.00 -12.00, I visited the first floor PARLOUR CAFE at Fortnum and Mason. Bonna, Davit, Jessica, Aisha, and Monica, along with all the staff behind the scenes, were all welcoming, professional, efficient, and caring. (please excuse any name spelling mistakes!!) All the customers were served by this excellent team with such charm and super swift service! The light lunch menu offered an excellent choice with lovely desserts of course and ice cream galore. This restaurant /cafe appeals to all generations …….nothing is too much trouble for this lovely addition to F&M’s hospitality

A bit on the expensive side. And staff are a bit confused when the cafe is busy. But the sundae is something! You can create your own by choosing from a variety of options. Tea and cakes are also nice. Also the area looks so good and it perfectly fits the lure of Fortnum and Mason.

K
Kirsty MacKenzie

This place was good fun. You can build your own sundaes or stick to a comprehensive menu. There’s something for everyone here with indulgent choices including candy floss and Eton mess ice cream to a range of vegan sundaes. I opted for a vegan banana split which has nuts and 3 different scoops of ice cream and I wasn’t disappointed. We booked ahead of visiting but many people turned up and waited a little while to get seated. A perfect retreat for the hot weather.

S

The vegetarian options and limited, food is good quality, scones are small, coffee is nice.

S
Sarah Lalani

Came here for dessert in the afternoon. You can't pre book a table so had to wait but fortunately as it was a weekday, the wait was only around 10-15mins. We ordered the carrot cake- which is one chunky slice, a pot of tea and a make your own ice cream sundae and the bill came to about £27 with service. The quality of the ice cream was amazing- really smooth.

We had reservations for The Experience high tea at Diamond Jubilee at 330 pm, but had just had lunch at Bancone Covent Garden at 130 pm. So we decided to cancel that but to have a lighter meal at the Parlour. There was a queue, but we managed to snag a table after 15 minutes. A shutout to the elderly female staff who wore a face mask. She was lovely and friendly when taking our order and serving the dishes. Anyway, we had the avocado sourdough with chilli, with duo of scones and a pot of Queen Anne tea. We also had a rose and pistachio cake, which was delish if a little sweet. The disappointment was the iced peach tea - for the price of 4.96 GBP, it was a miserable portion. The food was nice, otherwise.

Cute pastel coloured ice-cream parlour on the 1st floor of the iconic Fortnum & Mason. Extremely Instagrammable, but unfortunately the food did not live up to my expectations. I ordered a latte, which was nicely presented with a cute little ice-cream cone attached. The coffee was okay, but the restaurant is actually quite cold and within less than ten minutes my coffee was also cold. I had the scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast - which again were just okay, but I’ve had far better (and cheaper) elsewhere. Service though was superb, and staff were very attentive. Overall I felt quite disappointed and don’t feel I could (or would) recommend visiting - not unless you like cold and overpriced food.

An ice cream parlour on the 1st floor of Fortnum & Mason! Loved their Tea Time & Hazelnut ice cream - highly recommended! A relaxing place to rest your feet & enjoy a snack / dessert after shopping.

T

Managed to get a table very quickly which was good. The ice cream was very tasty however the apple and mincemeat tart I had was not as tasty. In addition for the size I felt it was overpriced. For the price I paid given the location I felt the service was something to be desired. A disappointing experience.

A

food is decent, not very flavourful but looks pretty. the strawberry and lemon tart didn’t have any lemon taste at all. scones are good. each pot of tea only serves one. food took some time to arrive.

The Parlour is situated on the 1st floor of F&M, and I managed to stop by recently for some coffee and scones. Whilst the pricing isn’t cheap, I found the pricing of the coffee to be very expensive, and unfortunately not that good. £5.50 for a flat white really is the pushing it, but the least I would expect for that price is amazing coffee, which it was not. The scones were good, and came out warm, which is a bonus. The price of the scones in comparison to the coffee was actually ok. The cafe itself is a little on the cold side, and I’m not sure if that’s to do with the ice cream refrigerator, but I had to keep my coat on whilst I had my coffee.

C
Chelsea

I went for the cream tea and was so disappointed. The scones were tiny and so dry. They tasted a bit stale. Also the staff were inattentive, had to call the waiter over to order. And then again to get just a glass of water. Just not the kind of service and quality i'd expect from Fortnum & Mason.

M
M. Lang

I was really disappointed with the prices, quality and service. I ordered Highland scrumble (eggs on toast with salmon) GBP18. 50, very expensive, the eggs were cold when it came to the table, salmon was OK. Hot chocolate was OK, nothing special. My expectations were higher... More disappointed when I saw the other restaurant and food hall on the lower floor with other options and much better price. Sorry I cannot comment the quality of these.

S
Shannon Tao

We went to the fornum and mason to have some world famous afternoon tea, however, we don't have a reservation. We were referred to the parlour on the 1st floor. I told the server this is my first time here and don't know how to order it...she threw the drink menu to me and leave us alone... ?????? Fortunately, we left without ordering and went to the dishoom for a delicious meal and super friendly service and that made my day in London.. two stars for the maybe-good food.

E
Eleanor Cheng

Atmosphere and service were fine here but this has got to be one of the smallest scones I've eaten in my life. The scones was nothing special, and there was no choice of jam with the scones. I would have thought that given that fortnum and mason sell so many jams, there would be more than one option. Tea selection was OK and the tea was nice. Would not come back here to eat the scones.

Z
Zee L.

Dropped by to Fortnums for some Christmas shopping… and it was super busy so I decided to take a breather and stop here at The Parlour. The surrounding was nothing special for a nice store and the service was lacking. The scones were teeny tiny for the price, the cherry cola float was blah as they didn’t even have cherry cola so they gave me regular cola… and the hot chocolate was ok but not hot enough. Honestly, you’re better off going to John Lewis or M&S coffee shop…

A
Annie McTighe

Booked to eat with friends for a Christmas meal. There were No festive decorations in the bar/restaurant on the table, around bar or on walls. The service was ‘pushy’ and rushed us. Hovering over us, interrupting conversations and had hands putting down cutlery and plates without acknowledging us first. I cannot imagine myself visiting there again!

S
Sean W

A visit here was supposed to be a treat and ended up being very disappointing. Without a booking we were accommodated in seats at the counter which was appreciated. The service from there was slow and very cold. In terms of the produce the champagne float wasn’t bad albeit at a hefty £18.50 for a modest serving. The chocolate brownie was very sweet and borderline inedible for £8.50. A supermarket version is much nicer than the one here. Upon barely eating any of it we ordered a mini Victoria sponge, again very average for £8.50! The hot chocolate was no better than something you could make at home using powder. Upon paying no question was asked as to why we barely consumed any of the brownie, with the money taken gleefully. When a 12.5% service charge is automatically added I guess there’s no incentive to try. The advice was very low effort but not enough to make it awkward to ask for the service charge to be removed. Certainly not worth bothering for either quality or value. Go to Sainsbury’s or Lidl for better quality cakes. Won’t return in a hurry for the price vs quality ratio.

H
Hakan Ince

The taste and serve was completely bad. Ordered a cappuccino which just came very poor with plain coffee and lots of milk, looking like from a corner shop. Not the quality expected from Fortnum & Mason at all! Nevertheless, when I asked for a replacement, just been told that it would be the same. Kids were upset as well with the tastes of banana split, mousses and scones.

n
nuddaaa

Rude staff. Waited 15 minutes to be seated. Got seated but asked to move to a different table nearby. It was less central. Got rudely told no. She snapped for no reason. We walked out because we knew there would be zero service offered today. Unacceptable from such a large brand. Also on the way out we saw staff using their bare hands to push scoops of ice cream onto cones and sundaes. Disgusting. Never again!

G
Giada

We were at the Parlour after a little shopping session at Fortnum and Mason. The food was so disappointing in term of choices and portions. They didn’t bring the milk with tea or a glass of water. The service was even worse. The waitress named “Ayoko” or something like this, an Asian woman indeed, was extremely rude with us. She yelled at us because she was thinking we didn’t understand what se was saying. I think she was just annoyed by the fact I wanted something vegetarian. Later, after the conversation, she went straight to her colleague for commenting about us and laughing. Extremely rude. I didn’t think I would meet a person like that at Fortnum and Mason where all the people are extremely lovely and welcoming. Certainly I would not return to the Parlour. In fact it was my birthday and the atmosphere was ruined by the waitress.

We shop regularly at Fortnum & Mason , due to the high quality of products. We are always overly disappointed by the overly sweet flavorless cheap tasting ice cream . As you can see from the pictures the ice cream is melting in it’s cabinet which is not normal and the water residue on the glass is also worrying. The ice cream looks and tastes boring and is noting special , which it should be in order to match the quality of the rest of the products . Seems like this part of the business is stuck in the past. The staff are fabulous as always , it’s the quality of the ice cream that is the issue.

Thee worst food i have ever had anywhere. Ordered 2 x hot chocolate came out luke warm along with 2 x serves of scones that should have been called rock cakes £35 later dont bother😒

I visited The Parlour at Fortnum & Mason as a treat for my daughter’s 4th birthday and was deeply disappointed, especially as a vegan customer. I had marked her birthday on the reservation and mentioned it again on arrival, yet neither the host nor the server acknowledged it — not even a simple “happy birthday.” The vegan options were extremely limited. No vegan baked goods at all, and only one savoury item — a soup, which came with no vegan bread alternative. I also asked for tap water with the soup, but it only arrived after I’d already settled the bill. The vegan ice cream flavours were frankly unpleasant, and my daughter didn’t eat hers. When I mentioned this to the waiter while paying, he replied, “Well, it’s vegan,” in a condescending tone — which felt dismissive and unnecessary. I did raise these issues with the manager on duty, who was pleasant and listened to my concerns — but overall, the experience fell far short of expectations. For a brand like Fortnum & Mason, I expected better hospitality and a far more thoughtful approach to dietary needs. I wouldn’t return for a vegan-friendly visit.

S
Sara G

Dreadful tacky place for tourists. We were told we had 1h to eat and the food took 30m to arrive. We ordered French toast, no one told us it would take over 20m to make, and when it arrived it was cold and very obviously not made fresh, chewy and inedible. Staff looked stressed. Massively overpriced - I’m ok paying those prices if service and food are good, but I guess I should have known better. Next time I’ll order my shopping online and avoid the gimmicky store.

We wanted a quick cup of tea, and went to the Parlour. A five minute wait while three bored managers chatted to each other in a corner. They caught our eye and just carried on talking. Eventually, one came over and then said “oh wait a minute” and went away again. Another three or four minutes later before she came back. Another five minute wait until the server came and took our order. She forgot the tapwater that we asked for and had to be reminded. Almost no milk served with the tea. And when we went to get the bill, no one around other than the three bored managers who were again chatting to each other and yawning. No attempt at all to manage the room. We took the service off the £12 bill. Does not deserve to be in business.

We waited patiently and quietly for 45 minutes in the line up only to get to the front to be informed that they were sold out of their Hot Chocolate. Very disappointing, especially since my Girlfriend and I had travelled from Canada to try it. Not the perfect Christmas gift it must be said. The Parlour is meant to be open until 9. This happened just before 5pm. UPDATE: Next day we decided to try again. “Surely they would have restocked by now” I said. We arrived just before midday (12pm), only to find they were still out of stock. I, honestly, find this to be incredible. For a store I once held in such high regard, this is a fall from grace. Especially, more so, during Christmas week. One final point to mention is that on both days they never informed those waiting patiently in the line up or displayed any signs. The first we knew of it was when we eventually reached the front after waiting all that time. Very disappointing, what more can I say.
