Opinions de True Food Kitchen San Diego
This place was really quite impressive: came with a friend because there was a really amazing promo that we found, but left wondering when I would like to come back. The staff was professional and courteous, and it was significantly spacious. I honestly would recommend coming back here, even without the promo code.
Been a big fan of True Food Kitchen for a long time now! First time trying this location and the food was delicious as always. I could live off the edamame dumplings, so yummy! Shout out to the manager Antoinette who was super kind and personable. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great dining experience.
I had such a great experience here! The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was full of flavor, fresh, and clearly made with care. You can really taste the quality in every bite. What made the visit even better was the customer service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. They made sure everything was perfect and went above and beyond to create a great dining experience. If you’re looking for amazing food and top-notch service, this place is definitely worth a visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I came in the other day and had the best experience! The hosts were very welcoming and got us seated quickly at a cute table, and our server Maddy was incredible! We got the Ancient Grains bowl, a pizza, and the chocolate cake for dessert. Highly recommend!!
Great experience! Hazel and Tom were very attentive at the bar, super friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent happy hour! Food super clean and healthy. Edamame dumplings were amazing! So good we had to get seconds. Great seasonal pizzas too ! Thanks! Eric and Suzzette
Was recommended to come here from friends and you guys did not disappoint, my server was top notch. Mel G was so sweet and considerate that I had no idea what was good and she was very helpful on helping me order. I started off with butternut squash soup and then I had the Korean noodle bowl for my main meal. Both dishes were excellent and fresh. Will be coming back again for sure
I’ve always loved true food kitchen, but my most recent experience was a game changer. I love all the new food and additions to the seasonal menu. I don’t eat gluten and the fact that I could have a delicious grass fed burger cooked to perfection and GF? YES! But the real star of the show was Mel(short for watermelon) she helped me navigate the menu, highlighting the best GF options. She was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and modifications to suit my dietary preferences. And top it all off, the flourless chocolate cake was TO DIE FOR! I inhaled it. 10/10! Next time you’re in, ask for Mel G, you’ll love your visit.
We were in San Diego and decided to eat here around 11:30am on Friday January 2nd. The server was extremely nice and attentive (wish I got her name- shoulder length dark hair). We ordered the ancient grain bowl and vegan pizza since we wanted something light after New Year’s Eve. The food was so good that I downloaded the menu and found recipes for the pistachio pesto sauce bought all of the ingredients for the ancient grain bowl. It turns out that we didn’t have to! There is a True Food Kitchen in Oakbrook IL so we will be going back. The grapefruit martinis were amazing too! We loved it!
Can never go wrong with True Food Kitchen! One of my favorite restaurants.. that just happens to be a chain :) Most people don’t know the founder is a doctor.. and he strives to offer an anti-inflammatory menu with seasonal, fresh ingredients This location is massive. Tons of open, airy space with high ceilings.. and LOTS of seating Quality is consistent with the brand. Feel-good eats that taste great Highlight will always be the seasonal dessert: sweet potato pie! Graham cracker crust.. no refined sugar.. guilt free perfection
Grilled sustainable salmon is nicely grilled on the outside with a savory flavor, while the inside remains moist. There was no fishy taste, making it easy to enjoy. The grain rice served with the salmon has a good texture and pairs well with it. The snap peas were not overcooked, so they stayed crisp. Personally, I prefer them more cooked, so that part was slightly disappointing. Light, but suitable for a proper meal.
It was my first time coming here and Mel G. Was so helpful as our server made me and my wife feel very welcomed. She recommended us to get the charred cauliflower guac as our starter and it was amazing. The Korean noodle bowl is the main reason I came here and will for sure be ordering again. Mel g. Also recommended the squash pie which my wife enjoyed and said it tasted like her mom’s. We will be coming back for sure.
I paid True Food kitchen a visit last Friday and the experience was nothing short of great. Acadia was our server and she was phenomenal. We ordered steak fritz and Korean noodle bowl and both came out incredible. I also recommend ordering bright eyes since it’s juiced fresh every morning. We also had the manager, Antoinette come to us and check up on us to see if you were having a good time. Overall, a great experience highly recommend it
This was my first visit to True Food Kitchen and it was excellent on every level, this coming from a very picky eater. Easy parking during lunch hours, and overall had a very welcoming atmosphere. The menu is large and wonderfully varied with selections that can please even the most disciplined of diners. The selection of salads is particularly plentiful, and overall as healthful or healthfully indulgent as you please. As for appetisers, I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts- crispy, slightly sweet and delicious. The highlight of our visit was our server Alexa. Friendly yet professional, very approachable yet attentive. As I tore apart the burgers to create one to my taste, she was helpful and patient and made the ideal suggestions that made for the perfect lunch. We need more professionals like Alexa in the very challenging service industry. The manager Melissa was also wonderfully to speak with when I wanted to share my compliments. Five stars all the way and I'll be heading back again soon!
Loved it! Had one of the pizzas and the grilled cauliflower and this fruity drink called the hangover. Little bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. A date night would easily be $100+ but I would consider it. The service was very good. The outside seating area where I sat wasn't busy at all as neither was the inside dining area. I'll definitely come back again!
One of my favorite of all time restaurants. The food is excellent really well made with fresh ingredients. This restaurant is super large so there is always seating and the staff is so friendly and helpful! My favorite is the chicken sausage pizza or the spaghetti squash pizza. I have never had something I didn’t like. They have very large healthy cocktail list very unique I lobe it!
This location is much more spacious than the location on Cesar's palace. My manager has a gluten allergy and when our server asked if we wanted gluten-free chips or regular chips, I jumped in and said "gluten-free". She asked if it was preference or allergy, and I let her know it was an allergy. From that point forward, the restaurant manager delivered each of our items and reassured us of the level of care that went into making sure that there was no cross-contamination. I really appreciated how thoughtful they were about this. My manager often finds herself eating plain salads while traveling for work and I know this really made her night! The edamame guacamole was great! They used to serve it with Gluten-free pita, but there were homemade chips this time. Admittedly, they tasted pretty stale, but they were happy to bring out the pita as a replacement. Butternut squash pizza was a huge win!
Excellent healthy delicious food choices combined with fantastic service and a pleasant atmosphere both inside and out :))

Great experience all the way around. Melissa G was so friendly and helpful. Food was very tasty. Love the vegan options. Outdoor patio was super comfortable. Great ambiance.
Loved having a clean food option while out and about. No seed oils and are very conscious of sourcing ingredients. tastes amazing!
Delicious food and friendly staff. Kid friendly, beautiful decor, clean. Directions on Apple Maps brought us to the wrong parking structure in Fashion Valley though.

For a reliably healthy and satisfying lunch, this spot is a fantastic choice. The portion sizes are decent without being overwhelming, and the quality of the food makes it a go-to for a midday meal. The kale salad was a definite done right... prepped so that there was no trace of bitterness, just fresh, crisp greens. The turkey burger was equally impressive; it tasted wonderfully homemade, with great flavor and none of the overly salty taste you often find elsewhere. The fresh brewed teas are a nice touch, though it was a shame the green tea wasn't available so early in the day. Service had a bit of a slow start, taking a moment to get to the table after we were seated (11:00 a.m.) However, these are minor points for an otherwise excellent and healthy lunch experience. An easy go to if in the area.
Love the openness of the restaurant from the outdoor seating to the dining inside. The openness vibes has a calming atmosphere yet at a busy mall that we enjoyed. The edamame dumplings was a treat and were very yummy. Hamburger with sweet potatoe hash was a nice change from traditional heavy burger. It was quite enjoyable. Quinoa salad with avocado and chicken was delicious and would order again. Water was refreshing and no bitter or harsh taste. We ended the meal with a passion fruit tart and an Americano coffee. Treat yourself to a healthier meal without the compromise of taste and your hunger satisfied. The restaurant offers plenty of details to admire from the napkins to plates to the decor.

I am giving the food 4 stars because it was good, but I don't love the side options, and some of the items are a little bland or ingredient overpowering. The Service would have gotten 3 stars because the woman (a name I won't disclose) ordered the wrong food, and the when doing my finances a few weeks later I noticed she decided to give herself more of a tip then what I gave her. I left her cash, and a little extra on the card so she could have a 20% tip, and it was clearly stated on the reciept, there was no chance she would have been able to mistake that. Instead, she decided to give herself a 40% tip plus keep my 15% in cash tip. She tips herself more than half my bill. This is unacceptable in my eyes. When I called the manager to have them refund me my money she only offered to refund me the tip, and she did that thankfully, but being a manager for years if you want someone to respect your buisness and recommend it to others in a positive light I would have refunded me everything and offered a gift card for another positive experience. To me, that was careless, and now I have a bad taste in my mouth about that place and their employees. I've debated writing a review about this for a couple weeks now, but have decided that the fraudulent behavior is unacceptable and others need to be aware of this when choosing a restaurant who conducts business like this, or at least make people aware to checking there bank statements after service. Other than that, this place is gorgeously designed and has a really nice ambiance. I am really impressed with the architectural and design teams creation. A well manicured and clean restaurant. Update - After these experiences, the GM of this location reached out to me and tried to make it right. He was unaware of the situation and did his best to remedy the situation, which I appreciate greatly! He is a great manager. I admire his approach.

I've been here three times. The first two were alright, nothing to write home about. I liked that the food was healthy and was close to where I live. Tonight, I went with my gf and we ordered the cauliflower which was actually fantastic. But, then the entrees came out. I got steak frites and gf got poke bowl. The bowl was, again, good but nothing to write home about. The steak frites however was terrible. When I first cut into the steak (usually streak frites the steak is already cut sitting atop the fries but this one wasn't) I couldn't tell if the knife was really bad or if it was the steak. Turns out it was the worst steak I've ever had at a restaurant. Not only did it arrive cold but the first bit took me about 3 min to chew and even then I still had to swallow it whole. The rest of the steak followed suit and was only edible if I cut small bites. The fries and salad were, no shocker, decent but nothing to write home about. To top it all off the table of three next to us got their food and check before us even though we ordered first which at the end of the day I could care less about but it just added to the overall vibe of the night. FYI the steak frites was $42. Proceed with caution.
Good food, terrible service. Sat for 15 minutes with no one coming at all. Waitress came and took our order. 35 minutes later still no food. After food arrived, again no service. Dirty dishes left on the table. Waitress did come as we were leaving and offered refills. Sad… this place is trendy and could be so good. Our lunch with no alcohol was about $30 a head.

I recently placed an order through Uber Eats from this establishment, which I visit regularly. While the app seemed to require me to select a salad, it still displayed my usual order with fries. When my order arrived, I received the All-American Burger with a side salad instead of my usual fries. I called the restaurant to address the issue. The first representative I spoke with was not very attentive, so I asked to speak with the manager. Unfortunately, the manager focused more on questioning how I placed the order rather than resolving the problem. He repeatedly mentioned having control over refunds, blamed Uber, and cited a “system glitch” to justify the error, rather than offering a solution. Even when dining in, service can be slow and inattentive, even on less busy days. This establishment should improve both their service and responsiveness to customers.
Went to this place because their big on accommodating guest with allergens. My wife and I went to have lunch and asked the server what options are soy and dairy free. Our new born has Cow's milk protein allergy and if my wife consumes soy and dairy, our baby can’t have breast milk for two weeks until it’s out of her system. The server confirmed with the “head chef” and management what options my wife was looking at were soy and dairy free. After confirming, they brought out her sandwich which was on bread. We asked again is this bread soy and dairy free, which one of the managers then said no it has buttermilk in it. My wife then said that’s fine and took the bread off. After-halfway through we asked again is the buffalo sauce soy and dairy free. The manager then comes back and apologizes because it has soy in it. They comped our meal but the important thing is that a restaurant that prides itself with all different diets and accommodating allergens to the fullest degree, that they straight up don’t know what they’re talking about. I’d be extremely cautious if you have an allergy that could have a serious health risk to you when dining here due to the lack of knowledge by the staff. They took my information and said the GM would call me which they still have not
My husband & I went on a date for Valentine’s Day. This was the most horrible experience. 1st we had a hard time finding parking because the Restaurant is located at Fashion Valley Mall. Then, we were sitting in the dining area that was so noisy we could not hear each other talk. Following after, we ordered our food at 6:30pm & our food finally came out around 8:00pm. The guests of 4 who got seated after us received their appetizers & main course before my husband & I. When my husband & I finally got our food. My husband noticed the Jambalaya he ordered looked like soup, the shrimp was not cooked & it tasty bland. My husband was afraid of getting sick that he did not finish his food. As for my food the Salmon was very salty & the kale tasty like seaweed it was over seasoned. That I did not finish my food. Our food had a strong sea smell to it. Finally, we were ready for the bill & we noticed that we were getting over charged on our bill. We pointed it out to our server & he got a manager to fix the bill. Worst experience!! We will never go back to eat at True Kitchen!
Waited for along time at the front door hostess wasn’t there restaurant wasn’t busy . Staff just ignoring 6 people at the door . A lot of staff no customers like there used to be here , should have been my first clue . Holes all over the green seats with tears , took forever to bring us water or a soda , ordered fries and a burger that took forever for me and my guest ,both had old Burnt fries on our plate that were so hard it was un edible . I asked the waiter if we could please have fresh fries or take them off . He didn’t take away the old fries just brought us new fries waited again for those ,later at the end the bill was around 60$ and I gave him a $10 tip. Please Do not eat here go to the Italian restaurant next door same price alot better food , even cheese cake factory has better food . Never in my life have I been served expired old food .
AVOID THIS RESTAURANT EVEN IF YOU'RE STARVING The worst restaurant experience, service, server and food EVER. It was empty yet the service was the most appalling I’ve ever experienced. The server was young, disinterested and smirked when we voiced our concerns. Mediocre starters - guacamole and cauliflower - were served relatively soon but an hour later we had yet to receive our main courses, even though there were 2 children with us - a 7 yr and 20 month old. We did ask that their food arrive as soon as possible but even that took over 30 minutes. Approximately 75 minutes after we sat down, only 2 orders of 3 orders arrived and one was wrong. The manager promised that the missing order was minutes away but it took over 30 minutes to arrive. Both the hamburger and chicken burgers were awful - bland and clearly previously frozen. The patties looked like they came from McDonalds. But not as good - that's how low the bar is at this pseudo restaurant. Prices are insane - $12 for a small serving, sold as family size - of their 'air fryer' French fries that also didn’t arrive for over an hour. A small scoop of inedible 'vegan' ice cream and a cookie - that the server insisted wasn't on the kid's menus but it was - cost $7.50. After arguing with me, she said we should be grateful that we had saved money with the kids' meals that neither ate. And then walked away making a face and laughing. It took over 20 minutes for the ice cream to arrive - with 3 adults still waiting for our main courses of burgers to arrive. While customers who arrived after us were served. Both kids refused to eat the ice cream or the cookie. ‘Disgusting and yucky’ according to the 7 yr old. The baby pushed it away, yelling no. Servers constantly walked by the table without stopping or looking our way. When one did finally did stop, she ignored the dirty dishes that had been sitting on the table for over 45 minutes. I eventually gave it to the manager when he came over. Before that, I had to get up from the table to speak with a server who gave lame excuses as to why burger orders made over an hour ago weren't ready despite the restaurant being deserted. The manager had no choice but to pick up the bill and after TWO HOURS all 5 of us left hungry. Never to return. And neither should you.
I had a very disappointing experience at True Food Kitchen on 10 November 2025. My friend and I waited about 45 minutes for a table — which was understandable since we didn’t have a reservation. But after being seated, we waited another 30–45 minutes for our food. When our meals finally arrived, we found a live bug moving in our salad after just one bite. The manager blamed it on “prewashed packages” and said the bug “wasn’t local,” rather than taking real responsibility. She offered to have the chef prepare something else, but it was already late, and after seeing a bug in our food, neither of us felt comfortable eating anything. She then said she wouldn’t charge us for our meals — but immediately followed it by asking whether we had ordered anything else, like appetizers. That felt extremely strange and out of place given the situation. She offered a gift card, which arrived today. It was only $50 and didn’t include a single apology or note. For a restaurant of this size and reputation, that’s unacceptable. Between the long wait, poor handling of the situation, and lack of accountability, this was honestly one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had.
