Whenever I’m craving Mexican, Rancho Grande is my go to. The chunky guacamole is my favorite and the birria enchiladas are so good! Be sure to grab yourself a margarita
Great food, friendly staff and large portions. Can't say enough good about this place. I visited from out of town and they treated me and my family like, well, like we were their family, too. Highly recommended if you live here or if you're just visiting. Recommended!
Service and food was amazing. I usually split the dirty tacos with my husband but this time we also added an ala carte cheese enchilada and it was sooooo good. Edmundo was our server and he was awesome.. fast, knowledgeable, and very nice. It was the best mexican food I've had in a long time!
Food and service are both spotty, sometimes below average sometimes great. If you can find a good server, then stick with them, otherwise stay away. Server took order and brought food, never saw her after that. Brought check tho. Food bland, looked unappetizing on plate and tasted processed / or out of can. Don't waste your time or money.🤐
Great Service... Yummy good food... Nice size plate... Can't wait to go again... Wonderfully nice people... ☺️👍🙏🇺🇸
I just finished dining at your fine restaurant. Server Liliana did an outstanding job! She was friendly, efficient, courteous, hard working, and knew the menu and her duties! She was extremely personal and builds report. She is an asset to your restaurant and I truly expect that she will be a permanent fixture at your establishment!!
Delicious and good portions for the prices. The quesa birria was yummy. Margaritas were strong. Manager was kind enough to check up, joke if we wanted appetizers, and we turned it back on him he was kind enough to bring us out some. Will definitely be coming back since we missed out on the crawfish. Guess they must be popular!
Very awesome experience this evening. Prompt and attentive service. Angel did a fantastic job and undoubtedly has a stellar future ahead of him in whatever career path he chooses.
Always on point with their orders. I hardly ever have to wait to pick an order as I drive for Uber. They are always nice and on point! Great atmosphere, good food and good margaritas too!! Definitely a go to if your on the area.
Birria tacos, 10/10. Been coming here on and off for years, consistently the same good food and solid service. This last time they’ve added Birria Tacos to the menu and so good! They didn’t go small with them either, bigger guy here and two had me eyeing how I was gonna finish the third. Oh and always got to get the chunky guacamole as a starter!
The food here is great, but the strong point in this place is the staff. Always friendly and pays close attention to your drink refills! Love the atmosphere here too. Gotta try the fajitas as they are superb, and the taco salad is lovely as well.
This was our first visit here. The service was great, The place was really clean, the music was not too loud. The food was delicious with good portions. The environment was great. we went for lunch so I got the beef fajitas on the lunch special my wife got the poquito lunch with chicken enchilada which was in her eyes delicious . We were pleasantly surprised at how affordable this place was too . We will definitely be going back.
My experience in this place was great. I was surprised to see the inside ambience because the outside is not overly impressive. It is a nice country diner, people is very nice, service is swift, the food was delicious, coffee was impeccable xD Everything you could wish for on a Sunday morning. I liked this place. I would definitely go a second time.
Wonderful food! The guacamole is very fresh and tasty. Chips were served warm and red sauce is very good. The fajitas have a great flavor and cooked just right. We will return when we are in the area.
Outstanding TEX-MEX! Fair prices, large portions and great service. The atmosphere/decor is a bit dated but is the only change I could possibly recommend. If you're in the neighborhood and want some tex-mex, Rancho Grande will definitely scratch the itch.
Great service!! THEY NEED TO GIVE JOSE A RAISE!! He was on top of his game and we didn’t even have to ask for refills or anything. He noticed if our drink was empty before we did!! Haha but overall 11/10 would recommend !!!!
We have always enjoyed eating here. But we recently went for their new weekend breakfast and were very impressed. It was delicious!!!! Perfect eggs, meats, beans, salsa… And I guess no one knows yet that they are open for breakfast because it wasn’t busy. So we had excellent service and quickly got our order. Must try for Mexican breakfast!! We can’t wait to go back.
I always enjoy eating here the staff is great and the food is amazing.
I got the cheese enchilada dinner, it was excellent. Hot and full of flavor. The rice and beans were also full of flavor, will return next time I'm in the area!
Stopped in here for some lunch. Great Birria! I had the tacos and the wife had the Birria quesadilla. Great service, food was fast and we didn’t run out of chips and salsa…. Because the waitress was attentive to us running low. Great place to eat! I forgot to take photos of the mean, but this was a great place to stop in!
Awesome place. It was my wife's birthday and my youngest Son and his family did lunch at Tomball Rancho. Never disappointed. Food and margaritas are always great, and the atmosphere is wonderful.
I eat here regularly and the food is always great. Service is excellent too!
A little too noisy because we were sitting next to a very large (20 people?) rambunctious party group! But the food and service was great. I had the carnitas enchiladas. The meat was slow cooked too perfection.
The food and portions were amazing! Would definitely come back. Best carne asada I've had in a while.
Our young server was very amiable and had a great sense of humor. The food is good and served nice and hot. Pricing is mid-range. We were there for lunch and got seated pretty quickly but we were there before the busy lunch crowd so not sure if others had to wait. Haven't been there for dinner yet.
We had my daughters birthday/ graduation party here and it was perfect! The food and drinks were great and the service couldn't have been better! We reserved a place for 25 guests and had plenty of room for our whole party to move around, take pictures, and be comfortable. We had separate tickets and that staff did a great job keeping up with everyone. They also let us decorate and there were no rules to follow. We helped to clean up our mess, table cloths, party decorations, and the 60 balloons that we brought in. It was a perfect party! Thank you for helping to make my daughters night great!
We’ve driven by this restaurant many times and have always said we wanted to try it. We finally did last week (a couple of times actually lol) and let me tell you they did not disappoint. The rice tastes like my grandmother’s, the salsa was very good and the BIRRIA TACOS were the best we’ve had, as well as the consommé, it was flavorful and not too much!
The Rancho Grande in Tomball is the best one in the area.
Absolutely best Mexican restaurant in town. Clean, friendly and best of all, the food and drinks are just on point. We have visited many “Mexican restaurants” and they all have been pretty disappointing until we found El Rancho Grande. Ask for Bernice! Best waitress we’ve had!!!
We reserved the banquet room for a family luncheon after my father's funeral. They had plenty of seating set up, the service was great, and the food was delicious. They did a great job and made my family feel welcome. We truly appreciate them and their service. ❤️
Would definitely go back when in the area. Beans reminded me of my grandma beans, flautas were full of chicken, rice had a good flavor, tamales were just ok, meat to masa ratio is off. Pineapple margarita excellent!!
10 out of 10 WOULD RECOMMEND. Best restaurants been here a long time. They have really good enchiladas, the rice and beans are perfectly cooked. Since the Heat and meat is so delicious. Parking is no issue and the atmosphere is relaxed. Also, try the margaritas. They are the best in town
My husband and I have been coming here for years. The food is always great, but sometimes to service was a hit or miss. But we hadn't visited for a while and just recently stopped by a few days ago. The place has really had an upgrade. From the menu, to dishware, and the service! We had a great experience and will always come back here for some great food.
We had made a reservation at another restaurant in the area only to show up to them closing early. The place was able to seat our party of 14 with no problems. Everything was served hot and quickly. The service was on point. They even handled a problem with a childs meal that was extremely picky with a smile. Thank you!
Great place for traditional Tex-Mex cuisine. Food was great. Service was great. Atmosphere was great. 💚🍀
Food was good and hot, and served quickly. Daniel was our server. He let us know he was pretty new, but he did everything right. Kept our glasses filled, checked on us frequently and was very friendly. Cheers, Daniel!
Great food. Amazing service. Nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!
I've eaten here 2x this past week. This restaurant is generous to be open every time there is a natural disaster. Food is always great & if you sign up for texts they will keep you updated. They have been a blessing during the last tornados & the recent hurricane.
First and foremost I don’t normally take the time to do reviews unless something is horribly wrong or just way beyond my expectatios, with that said I have to let the public know about this incredible place. I’ve dined in some of the best restaurants in the country and I have to say this place stands out. The service is first class for sure. Now the food is unbelievable. Everything is very traditional and done as expected.and being 100% Mexican I know what to expect. So if your in for the “ The Real Deal Mexican Food” this the place.
Been coming here for years and it is always our go to when visiting family, Wendy is so sweet.
*UPDATE* 2 years and we’re still frequent dinners (at least twice a month). I have only good things to say about Rancho Grande. BTW I love the Birria Tacos. We’re getting Fajitas for dinner today. First time here and I’m quite pleased that we stopped. We drive by every weekday after work and the parking lot is always full so we had to try Rancho Grande out. The wait staff is super friendly and attentive without being annoying. Our server Yaqueline was wonderful and the helper Vanessa was awesome! The dining room looks and smells clean. I was blown away by the food. The beans and rice was something like what my grandmother from Ojocaliente, Aguascalientes would make! My husband says we are definitely coming back.
Came for the crawfish, will be coming back for the Tex-Mex. All the food coming by the table looked awesome. I was very impressed by the waitstaff and how professional everyone is dressed. The manager, Ody, came by the table to check to see how everything was...again customer service from days gone by.
***EDIT*** Ask about their margarita flight! talked to their manager about it and it's something they want to start, they did one for us tonight and it was awesome! Definitely ask about the flight and see if they'll make one for you!!*** Wonderful margaritas! I suggest the mango with blue curacao or the Rickyberry. The Gringos fajitas or the Sheriff are the best! And I always enjoy sitting in Erick's section, he's a great waiter!
Love this place. Only place I go for Mexican food. Other places taste like it's frozen food you buy at the store
Excellent Birria. Both the Torta and Tacos were fantastic. I highly recommend this place. Plenty of fresh chips and warm salsa for free. I'm from San Antonio and I'm very glad I found this place. My friends are from out of town and they loved this place too. This is authentic because it is what it is. Thank you.
We (6 people) were there on a Monday night for a birthday celebration. The food and margaritas were great! Tried the pineapple and watermelon margs - delicious! Also, try the birria ramen - yummy! Great service for our group which included a couple of young ones.
Everything I’ve tried has been delicious, and the flavors are incredible. They also have the best margaritas in town… you really can’t go wrong! There are so many great options to choose from, and the atmosphere makes every visit enjoyable. I can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu. Peter was super attentive.
The food here is delicious, especially the Birria menu, good quality meat. That's always the first thing I try. If the fajita meat is good then I will return! We have never been disappointed. The staff here is always super nice and accommodating. Jorge and Karen are amazing bartenders and the award of best Margarita in town is definitely worthy!
Atmosphere is good. Friendly wait staff and owners. Only problem is prices are getting too high to take a family. Even just a couple can easily spend $60 to $75. For someone on disability what once was a weekly outing is now once every month or two.
Pleasantly surprised with the choice to eat here. I had the chicken fajitas and they were amazing. I overheard someone say you have to ask for the green salsa, I myself prefer green salsa and its been nice to have it served along the red salsa like most restaurants in the area. The alcoholic beverages were super expensive. Service was exceptional. We will come again.
Not to noisy, good service and decent tex-mex will definitely be going back
I grew up eating here and loved it. I moved away for 20 years and recently stopped by, and it was still here with the same name. There is a reason it's still here!! This is the real deal. Carne Guisada was my plate, and it was amazing. The margarita was epic, and service was on point. If you are in Tomball, stop and try it out. You will thank me.
The atmosphere here is ok. It's kinda dark and gloomy inside. The food is good but not consistent. One day the carrots beans are amazing, and the next time they are eh, same with the salsa and a few other things. They have excellent margaritas, and avocado salad (I have not found anywhere else) service could use an upgrade. The place could be empty and you will still wait quite a while for service.
Food was good, but service could be better. Waiter took a long time to get our order. We had to keep flagging him down just to order dessert. If it was for the young lady refilling our drinks we would probably go all night with one drink only.
We ordered Tostadas. The order was correct and the food delicious. However, the service was not as good. When a restaurant has only small tea glasses they should make sure that the glasses are refilled frequently. There was one party of about 9 people and us two. We finished eating and waited about 10 minutes to get our check and to-go boxes. I finally had to get up and find someone to help. One was sweeping in the doorway of the kitchen. The hostess was in the bigger dining room playing on her phone and two waiters were sitting down talking. Now I do understand that it was off hours (a little after 3:30pm). However, I do expect to get good service no matter what time it is. You can do better. I have seen it.
We have been coming to Rancho Grande Tomball & Magnolia for over 10 years. David at the Tomball location on Highway 249 is awesome, as always, with a friendly attitude and great service. Drinks and food are really good, and customer service is over the top!I I highly recommend visiting the Tomball location!
This was our first visit to this establishment, and we came as a family. Overall, the experience was enjoyable. We ordered the beef fajitas and chicken quesadillas. While the flavors were good, they were not exceptional. The beef fajitas, in particular, were slightly chewy. However, it was still a satisfying meal, and we appreciated the quality of the food and service.
The place inside is beautifully decorated, service was nice- only a few people there when I was there for lunch on a stormy Tuesday. I always order a mix fajita and chicken platter every Mexican restaurant we go to and I have to say I wasn't too happy about the fajita. It tasted like the low grade, chewy kind. Also I was really glad to have the option of mixed vegetables as a side but they didn't taste fresh. I make both fresh and frozen at home and I could tell the difference.
Service was great. Food was just ok. If you live in Tomball and don't feel like making a long drive but want some tex-mex, you could do worse.
Great food, beautiful setting but of course our server could have cared less. I'm a waitress/bar manager I've been in the restaurant industry for6 yrs and i believe in karma so I always tip %25 but last night I only tipped %15. It was slow so no reason we should have to flag down for drinks , we went through three waiters because none of them wanted to take our table. Well it was my husbands birthday dinner as well. Needless to say I will be getting t to go from this place from now on !
Decent food with a very large menu - which explains why nothing is spectacular, with so many things going on in the kitchen. Waitstaff are friendly and do well with questions and with keeping drinks/chips filled. Can be loud inside depending on who else is seated at the time - the cavernous brick interior keeps sound levels high.
My daughter and I called in a to go order and it was repeated and upon picking it up, paying for it, and arriving home (approx. 20 miles) discovered it was wrong. I immediately called them to tell them and the girl who answered argued with me saying no I had ordered beef not chicken. I don't feel as though that is the way you should communicate with a customer. While the food was very good(we have ordered from them before) we had children that didn't eat (wanted chicken) and paid more for something we didn't order, it has left a very bad taste for the establishment thus won't be back soon or feel comfortable recommending it to others. All we were offered was a free queso next time. Thank you. Update manager finally reached out and both apologized and thanked us and offered us a free meal so feel a little bit better about it. Thank you. Update to my review of approximately a few months ago, heard from the manager apologizing almost immediately and wanted to make it right by offering us another meal free of charge. We recently took advantage of his offer and were very satisfied as the servings were large, meat very tender, very friendly staff. And the chips and queso were also very good. Thank you very much for caring about your customers and thus making it right. We will go back and have recommended it to others. Would give them a 4.75 with this experience. Thank you.
We had fajitas poblanos and our family had a variety of other meals. I thought the amount of meat was a bit small for the price, but the meat and veggies were good. I really enjoyed the refried beans and the rice was ok. They didn't ask if we wanted corn or flour tortillas, and brought us flour, though I assume both were available. The tortillas seemed homemade and were good too. The restaurant was decorated very pretty and cute for the holidays, which added to the atmosphere.
The food was okay. Daughter ordered the steak and shrimp, medium rare. it came almost well done and the shrimp werent that great. the chicken and beef fajitas combo were good but the portion size wasnt worth the price. service could improve.
Service was fantastic! They seated us right away and took excellent care of us. Drinks were brought out right away and it was amazing how fast we got our order. Food was delicious too! We ordered the deep fried chimichanga and were very happy with it. I would have given the place a better rating if everyone wasn't wearing masks. I am always happy to see businesses stand up to bullying but this one plainly got swept along with the madness.
My favorite Tex Mex restaurant by far, love the food and the service and have been going here for years. But they just recently started serving breakfast which is fine but either take the pancakes/waffles off the menu or change the recipe. They were terrible. They use the same batter for the waffles that they use for the pancakes so it makes a very dense and cakey waffle. But the batter itself is not good, taste like one of those just add water mixes. I don't even do that at home so certainly not gonna come to a restaurant and eat that.
No specials on Friday it was slow . Got a margarita frozen no salt 🧂 and ordered the diablo shrimp 🍤 and chicken 🐔 to share .it was ok . Rate it a 6.5 not great but ok . 60$ 2 margaritas and Diablo shrimp and chicken, added a order of tortillas beans and rice .
The dr pepper is disgusting. Please fix it.
Food is expensive, and not as hpme-made tasty as other places around here. The server was busy with other tables and gave us the wrong order: fajita dirty tacos ended up being chicken quesadillas in which the chicken seemed to be canned chicken. My fajita chicken flautas were too dry to enjoy. The flour tortillas are not homemade. They should at least get the HEB ready to cook flour tortillas from the bakery. At the end, I had to go get the to-go box -we probably won't eat the leftovers, though - and the check. The fajita plate for one was like $28.00, if I remember correctly. The dishes we ordered were around $18.00 each.
The food was pretty good. The service wasn't great. The waiter didn't check on us once during dinner. I had to wave her over. We ordered watermelon margaritas that werent good at all so we did not drink them. They were nice enough to take them off the check. Overall not best place and very over priced
My experiences at this establishment between 2013 and 2015 were more favorable than my recent visit. The culinary quality appears to have diminished, particularly when contrasted with the Magnolia location. While the hostess provided exceptional service and a thorough explanation of the menu, the food did not meet my expectations. Furthermore, the portion sizes, specifically the burrito, are smaller compared to other Tex-Mex restaurants in the vicinity. The taco salad was predominantly composed of lettuce, lacking the desired flavor profile. Despite these shortcomings, I am open to revisiting the restaurant, contingent upon an improved dining experience.
We really wanted to like this location. We love the one in magnolia but this is the one for delivery. 3 times, so officially our last time, we placed an order and it's been so wrong. Not cheap meals either. This time Not only was order wrong again, but we placed an order at 6:50pm and it arrived at 9:10pm. Just don't understand how it can go so wrong each time.
The inside looks more upscale than the outside. Huge drawback is that there is no aguas frescas such as Horchata. I had the burrito, not good. The fajita meat had no flavor, very bland. The burrito came covered in a red salsa that had a weird taste. We also had the fajita nachos, again the fajita meat had no flavor, they don't seem to season the meat. The service was friendly but the food was bad. Not worth the high prices. The burrito itself was $15. The nachos come with melted cheddar cheese, not the normal cheese that you think of for nachos. Again, the staff was wonderful, constant refills on drinks, the waiter kept checking on us and the hostess met us with a smile.
While the food is good the margaritas are lacking, every time I come and Jorge is at the bar and I order a top shelf tequila margarita he mixes it with the house margarita mix. It’s definitely not $16 worthy. Other bartenders here will make the margarita and shake it and then pour it and they are worth it. I’ve said something to Jorge about it but he continues to do it. Lack of caring or knowledge?
This was hands down probably the worst Mexican restaurant I have had the displeasure of eating at in the Tomball area. I had noticed this restaurant while driving on 249 and decided to stop in with my fiancé. The building itself isn’t bad and inside decoration is nice. The staff that I had the pleasure of dealing with also were nice enough. The food however was just horrible, I ordered the chicken fajita nachos as an appetizer, and what came out was the saddest plate of nachos I’ve ever seen.. The chips were homemade I believe, with beans on them and melted cheese.. and there was a tablespoon of sour cream and guacamole in the middle.. no tomatoes no pico .. Fiancé ordered the chicken tacos and I ordered the el grande. The chicken tacos, the shredded chicken had an artificial Smokey taste to it to a point she wouldn’t even eat it. My plate was no better, bland and flavorless rice, beans, enchilada, tamale.. none of it was good. Didn’t even want to go boxes just bring me the check, which took another 20 minutes.. I still tipped the waitress though, it wasn’t her fault. I don’t think I’ll ever return to this place.. it was really that bad.
Most horrible meal I have ever had from them. Usually they're at the top of their game, not the day I went...3 birra tacos no cheese, not even toasted...when I asked they put them in crunchy taco shells...😳...(Probably thought because I was white that I wouldnt know the difference, except that Ive been married to a Latino for 36yrs and I make these at home) So, 3 plain horrible tacos, no cheese, no sides, just 3 plain tacos $17, who pays that much for tacos, even if they are birra tacos and without cheese and not cooked properly...Now let's talk about the service. It was also the worst I have ever received there. I am very disappointed😞. I know that this restaurant tends to be a little pricey, but the quality and service are usually there...Not this time...Signed, "One very disappointed and sad customer"
The worst food I have ever tasted. $50 down the drain.
This is at the very minimum the 3rd time that I've been shorted food on take out. And your hostess says it's the bars fault that I ordered from the bar and the front of the house isn't responsible for it. What? I've been coming to your establishments for the better part of 15-20 yrs! I spend easily close to 200$ every time and I tip 20%. I was shorted refried beans again on a take out order tonight. My toddler is very picky on food but will eat refried beans and rice. We chose your establishment instead of chili's due to his dietary challenges. As we do many days. I had a simple request. Bring me my child's food or refund my gratuity and the beans. You can do the beans but not.the gratuity? You can't submit and order to grubhub or another app to bring my child's food? I can look up your market value online! You have the money and the resources to take care of your mistakes. Especially when it's repetitive. I'll never give you a single cent of my money ever again. I know you struggled pre election time because YOU spoke to me about it. Now you're back on top and dont care. Good riddance
The only thing I liked about this place was the waiter. He was nice, very attentive and very polite. Anything else was mediocre. It was definitely not a Mexican restaurant.
Took 15 minutes just to get our order in and the place was not full. Took 20 minutes and asking twice before I was able to get the check. The food isn't terrible but it is overpriced for what you get there really isn't anything special here to warrant all the 5 star reviews. My wife and I have been coming here for two years we were never impressed with the food but at least it used to be affordable now I just spent 46.00 dollars before the tip for two mediocre enchilada plates. Will not be returning. ***Edit*** Also just want to add the entire time My wife and I were there our server only stopped at our table to take our order, and bring us our check. We were ignored for a larger party with two screaming kids.
Worst experience I’ve ever had. Upon being seated our waiter came to our table with a horrible attitude, on top of not attending to our table at all. My margarita was not what I ordered my wife had to take my drink to the bar to even get it fixed because our waiter refused to take it herself. On top of my food came out wrong I finally had to get up and say something to someone else to even get her to come to our table we have been here since 9:30 pm and only have been attended to once and it is now 10:30 pm. On top of the table behind us with a screaming tolder literally screaming at the top of his lungs to where I couldn’t even enjoy my dinner in any shape form or fashion. This is not the experience I was hoping for at all. I’m a waiter myself and I would have never and I mean never treated my table or my guest in that way. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!!!! Do better, train your servers better. No one wants to experience this kind of customer service.
The drinks here suck. The food was decent. The salsa with the chips tasted hella weird I'll never go back here.
I saw the crawfish sign and placed an order over the phone. I asked for extra spicy and I received 3lbs boiled in plain water with the boil seasoning on the side. They are live and very very clean but not boiled in the crawfish boil seasoning. Such a disappointment. The picture shows the plain water at the bottom of the pan.
