First time here! I really liked the spicy ketchup and the Dr Pepper shake. My eyes were a bit too big for my stomach when it came to thw burger but it was still very good.

I stopped into this location downtown while I was waiting for a movie. I thought it was going to be too busy based on the line; however, the staff was taking orders very quickly and getting the food out just as fast. I used the online order from their mobile app. My food was still brought to my table as if I had ordered at the register. Absolutely everything on my complicated order was made to perfection. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The restaurant was decorated for the holiday/time of year. I really enjoyed my visit here. Next time I’m downtown, I’ll certainly keep this location in mind.

What can I say about Whataburger. It was a burger dream come true. Good menu, wonderful friendly helpful service. Definitely a must on a trip to San Antonio.

Got the #2 with double cheese and all the fixings meal with fries and a drink. They deliver it to your table and you have to ask for napkins and ketchup. Make sure to try the spicy ketchup with your fries.

So I finally got a chance to see what all the fuss was about. I have to say, it was pretty good. The burger was above average, but what sets it apart are the toppings.The tomato was ripe and juicy. The lettuce was crisp. Pickles and onions were good too. The fries were pretty good as well. I actually agree with all of the hype. I will definitely try to hit them when I can.

In downtown with all types of people but the restaurant is kept clean and neat. Service is nice and quick.

First time to try this burger. For me, It was just a burger, not really special that you have to come. But the service was good, there was a lady , she Is very kind to giving everybody ketchup and napkin , that was really impressed 👍

After seeing the reaction to the Whataburger float in the Battle of Flowers parade in San Antonio, I had to check this place out for myself. Tried the Dr. Pepper shake (amazing), the onion rings (right on the money) and an apple pie (flaky and sweet). The store was crazy busy because of Fiesta, but the staff behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. My order got a little lost in the mayhem, but they recovered and I had more time for people watching and checking out all the festive decorations. Best find? The spicy ketchup!!

Made that 2 am stop and the team leader Jon was so welcoming, nice and accommodating. He was very attentive and made our experience very pleasant!

First timer here! Decided we could not leave TX without trying whataburger and guess what? It did not disappoint! I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries, the meal was brought to the table nice and warm. As a lifelong DR Pepper lover, I ordered the shake. It is vanilla based with a hint of Dr Pepper, tasty! The ingredients tasted fresh, much like In N Out and Culver’s, delicious in their own right. Will visit again when in the south/southwest.

The Whataburger downtown San Antonio is awesome. Went after a concert at the Aztec Theater. We walked for a block. The wait to order took two minutes. We placed our order. They had great customer service. We received our order hot.

It isn't a trip to Texas if I don't eat at Whatabuger! This time was the location just off the Riverwalk, and it did not disappoint. It is open 24, and the service was so friendly and quick. And with as much foot traffic as comes in here from the downtown streets, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean it was. I don't have a Whataburger from where I am (Utah), so it is always a treat to get one. West coasters are going to hate me for saying this, but I like it more that I like In-n-Out. I tried the Dr. Pepper shake, but it wasn't really that great. Everything else smothered in spicy ketchup.. YUM!

I don’t think I will ever give Whataburger less than 5 stars. It’s really a treasure of Texas culture. This one was very slick and smack in the middle of the city. It did seem like they were understaffed so the order line took forever. The food came out fast however. Great fast food. No complaints.

I was told that this was yummy! It did not disappoint! There was a long line at lunch that took some time to work thru and now I know why! I had the bacon cheeseburger, fries and onion rings and devoured it all. The burger was very good. The fries are like McDonald's but better if that's possible. I would definitely go back! I liked it.

On my first day in town my hotel recommended a Bunz Burgers. My experience was horrible - a small single burger, small drink and microwaved exaggerated "bowl" of chili cost me just under $23.00. Today I visited this Whattaburger and got a double burger, battered onion rings and a much larger drink for under $13.00. More importantly, the food tasted much better. This place may be considered fast food, but they brought my order directly to my table. A service concept Bunz didn't get. I would choose this place over Bunz anytime I am back in town.

I found this location to be clean, efficiently, run with a friendly and accommodating staff, and with food quality that met expectations. On my visit, they were actively cleaning the dining area. The location also scores very high, if not perfect scores on their health inspection ratings. The staff was friendly and very willing to accommodate additional requests like items added to my breakfast sandwich. They also confirmed all the items before processing the order to ensure accuracy. The order came up quickly and was prepared well and correctly. This location is in an urban area, which finds people of all walks of life there. On my visit, I did not find there to be any issues with panhandling or difficult people on the street. Having said that, this exists all around downtown San Antonio in places it is not unique to Whataburger. This is a good location for fast food with good service and in a clean environment.

SHOUT OUT to Adrianne!!! Left a note to leave a review but I was going to anyways! I’m always hesitant to DoorDash whataburger because it never gives you the options to add more than one of the same cheese (DoorDash fault not whataburger, and I’m particular 😅) but tonight I could not drive but was definitely craving whataburger after today so I placed an order and called to see if they could throw on another slice for me and Adrianne was ABSOLUTELY the sweetest. AND my double burger got THREE slices. I’m one happy gal and I sincerely hope that Adrianne has the most blessed life in the universe. She made my night BESITOS ANDRIANNE!!!🩷🩷🩷🩷

Holy HOT food! Excellent job yall. 4 fellow OPs here. We visited around midnight, hungry for some Breakfast and boy did yall deliver. My potato egg and cheese "taco" was the hottest and freshest BK I've had in a while. Its currently the next day and I am still thinking g about that meal.

First visit to a Whataburger. Food was good. Staff and Manager were all pleasant and helpful. Reasonably priced. Location was great. Would definitely eat here again.

Food is always great and cheap. Service can be slow sometimes, and some of the employes are normally on a bad mood, at least that's what they proyect.

So it was my birthday day week and I was broke and drunk all at the same time. Sounds like a Sia song! Nevermind that I needed food and there was a bunch of cops waiting to catch a fool for a PI. Whataburger downtown San Antonio is a little ruff but it be the most affordable burger and union rings on the River Walk. Hamburger, large onion rings, and large root beer $11.39. Another night not in handcuffs, Priceless! For everything else there's Whataburger.

Good service, and the burger is a notch better quality compared to its competitors like Jack In The Box or McDonald's. I had the A1 Thick and hearty burger which was nothing sort of fantastic. 4 stars because my onion rings were burnt pretty bad, and even though they eventually replaced it, it left a bitter taste in my mouth (pun intended).

Had to see what the Texas hype was about. Overall I would say 7/10, but with the spicy ketchup I bumped it up to 8/10. The workers were super friendly, but it did take about 10 minutes to bring out the food.

Made to order fast service good location but homeless people hang outside or around to corner as your walking in some time there's a long line just depends on what time you go only because your in the down town area

My first visit to Whataburger. Big restaurant in the heart of the downtown. Very fast service- the staff was so sweet and friendly, tasty sandwiches and yummy apple pie 😍😋👌🏽. Cons: the tables were messy, only negative!!!!!! Love from Seattle!

For the location sans amount of customers that better at this location, this Crew has it down Pat. The food OSS always fresh and if you have any issues with your order, simply mention it to one of the Crew members and a solution will be expedited in a quick manner.

First time visiting Texas and was told it is one of the To-Dos. Not sure what I was expecting, maybe something more fast casual that just fast food. Burger was good (Has no ketchup or mayo. Only has mustard so be warned to request changes if that's not your style), wife got a chicken salad and enjoyed it, kids burger for my daughter was decent too. She ate as you'd expect from a 2 year old lol. Would go again, but probably would rank it even with Wendy's or burger king.

Had to try it for the first time since so many people talked about how great it was. I enjoyed the fries more than the burger. But it is something I could come back to. Tracey was awesome and really sweet.

We were there in the middle of the night after a very late hotel check in. Staff was borderline rude. Lots of drunk people. There were police out front so we did feel safe. Got our food quick and then left. Burger was good. I image the experience would be very different during the day.

Place was decent just took a bit to get the food as there was 1 order in front of me.

I broke a lot of my own rules by writing this review. First one being that I don’t eat at chains while traveling and second being I don’t usually do reviews on chains. Since this is a regional chain I figured it was worth a review to tell people if they don’t have a Whataburger where they live and they are close to one when they travel they should check it out. I original came here for lunch on a day I had a massive hangover after a long night on the Riverwalk. I got a double cheeseburger and a water. That cheeseburger ended up being the exact right thing I needed at the exact right time. It took a lot of self control to not immediately get another one but I knew two would make me feel sick. The craving never subsided so I came back the next day and got the exact same order. The double cheeseburger costs $7.95 which seems reasonable to me. It’s pretty big and filling. There is lots of seating at this location and it can get pretty busy since it’s a stones throw from the Riverwalk. There’s signs posted that the bathroom is for customers only. If you think you’re smarter than the signs, like I did, and I saw many other people try, they are locked by a door code that is printed on the receipt you get when you buy something. All in all a great burger. It seems like there’s a riff between In and Out loyalists and Whataburger loyalists. I just like a good burger. I don’t care who makes it.

I ordered my first meal ever at Whataburger on DoorDash Sunday night to my hotel since I hadn’t eaten since 6a that morning, California time. The food was somewhat warm, reminded me a little bit of the charbroiled style you can get at any Carl’s Jr. the fries were okay, similar style to McDonald’s, (which I very rarely eat anymore since they are such poor quality). The burger had potential, but unfortunately really fell short of expectations. There were no condiments included and unfortunately just 1 napkin. In closing, I hear often as a Californian that Whataburger is superior nationally to In N Out. I disagree wholeheartedly on this. INO has consistently dominated the conversation from day 1, and to think that this meal compares to the consistency, quality and freshness that INO almost always delivers, is a little silly. I know this is a little overboard to share, but I thought people would like to hear from a California native comparing the two “top“ fast food burger chains. In N Out beats WaB handily! 😬

I'm from California, familiar with In N Out. I was looking forward to Whataburger on this trip, and you know what? It was solid. Like In N Out, not life changing or anything, but if I had access to one regularly I'd probably choose it most of the time.

My first time back to Texas and over 10 years. I've lived in the Houston area for two years and had gone to Whataburger just a handful of times. Now that I'm back home in the Golden State I wanted to try it again on my visit and see how it compares to In N Out. While the fries are better than what you would get at In N Out, I'd have to say the hamburgers don't compare. Whataburgers burgers lack the freshness that you would get from In N Out. They're not bad but they still have that mass production kinda taste to them. Whataburger will do well in a pinch, but my preferences lie elsewhere. And I say this as somebody who has eaten at both places recently.

The food is actually pretty good, maybe better than Burger King and McDonald's. The problem is the service and cleanliness. The bathroom looks like the worst gas station bathroom you have ever seen, the garbage is overstuffed and nobody empties it and the employees could care less about doing their jobs. Whataburger seems to have no standards for its locations, certainly not for cleanliness.

This is very difficult to get to by car. If you are walking around the Riverwalk, it's OK to navigate to but it was difficult to get a bite to eat after a concert with construction and one way streets in addition to all the people who also decided to go here from the Alamodome.

We were told that Whataburger is a must visit when going to Texas, and so have to say I was a bit disappointed with our experience. This downtown location wasn’t in the best shape, as far as cleanliness goes. The food was okay, I ordered cheese on my burger (paid extra for it) and the burger came out with no cheese. The fries were okay tasting as well. I don’t think I’d get a burger at this chain moving forward.

Big whataburger, close to the riverwalk. We were staying on the river, so it was just a short 4 minute walk from our hotel. We waited a long time for our food, but they weren't busy. When we got back to the hotel I realized they left part of our order out, so I had to go back.

Forgot my side order of fries and no napkins. I lost $4 on the large fries. SMH. Not the Whataburger I know and love.

The place is big. The food is the same with other franchises. Not sure if they have a public restroom since I just stayed in my seat. The crew is friendly and very helpful. It is also downtown so you could just stop here for a quick bite. The food is not good if it is already cold so better eat it while it is hot.

I picked up an order for Doordash. The staff was slow to attend patrons and did not greet anyone while we waited. The dining area was filthy with food thrown on the floor in different areas.

Service here isn't that great. When I walked up to the counter and said hi to the lady, she didn't even bother to return my greeting. My questions were met with terse, one-word responses. After I ordered and got my cup, I walked to the soda fountain. A homeless man was throwing ice with his bare hands at the machine and randomly pushing the levers to dispense different sodas. I used the other fountain (luckily there are two). Many of the tables were sticky with old soda and coffee stains even though I was there in the morning and the restaurant wasn't busy. That's the kind of place this is, I guess. At least the breakfast taquitos were tasty.

Food was not fresh and flavorful like most Whataburger's that I have visited. The food did come come out fast, but I would rather wait for fresher and hot food.

The food was good, the service was good. The staff seemed very friendly. It is a 24-hour burger joint that seems to be in a rough section of a tourist area. I am not against pets. Someone had a dog with them, and it was very well behaved, I am not sure it was the right place for a pet. I liked the food, it was good. The chicken tenders were good size, and the onion rings were good. I enjoyed a double meat burger. It was good taste, the sweet and spicy bbq bacon burger was very good, it had the right sweetness with the right spice. I think for a chain, the price was good, and the food overall was worth it.

First experience at Whataburger. It's ok. Pretty much like McDonald's with a better burger. Had the jalapeno cheese burger. It was good but it needed more mustard which it barely had any on it but could use more. Add ketchup and or mayo or something. Fries..pretty much copy McDonald's. Seemed like they were running the store with just 2 employees but they were nice and friendly and came out with the food with a smile.

Hillary was dis tasteful and rude. Not everyone late night is displaced. They should not be be treated as incompetent fools. Our conference was late, we had a social gathering then headed to Whataburger for a late night snack and Hillary was not respectful.

“Taste like a whopper”- that was the consensus feeling. Not sure what the hype is about. The burger tasted like the standard burgers. The fries were basic as well. The only redeeming factor is that they open 24/7 and accommodates the late night creepy crawlers.

Cashier was super sweet. Ice machine was not working. An employee let me know she had to go to the back to get ice for a door dash order, but did not offer to get ice for us. There was also a guy in there that was acting so weird. He didn’t look like a paying customer, but was maybe just trying to cool off from heat. Felt like I needed to be aware of our surroundings while there.

What corporate garbage. Typical pull the pattie that was cooked earlier in the day out of a warmer and throw it on a bun. Dry as h*** Not hot barely warm. 1st time at Whataburger and last. What low standards. Edit: Sorry I couldn't leave it at that. Management should be ashamed to put out a product like I had today. I challenge corporate to send someone to anonymously purchase lunch here.

Straw box was empty and beef patty also was not hot. It looked a poor sanitary management and staffs are unfriendly that they didn't serve what I wanted to be served even basic take out request they didn't follow.

The whole point of ordering online is for them to have it ready when you show up. They seem to start making your order as soon as you get there to pick up. Why even take online orders at all. I even give a grace time of 10-15 minutes to allow for order to be completed and ready.

Location is good. Close to the Briscoe Western Art Museum. The place was gross. Trash everywhere. Needs to be kept clean. The burger was dry and overcook. The Whataburger on Broadway and Loop 410 is much better in service and cleanliness. Service is lacking. I asked for my lunch for here and got a bag. I would not recommend

Whataburger is a Texas staple, however, not one that would hold my papers together. The servers at the location we visited were very friendly, and patient ( it was extremely crowded when we went). The prices are comparable to other fast food chains with similar options. Don't go if you are looking for anything healthy. It's a fast food burger joint, so curb your enthusiasm, so don't expect much. The fries were delicious though. Very good. The burger would come in a distant last in terms of taste and presentation ( 1.Wendy's, 2. Burger King, .....5. McDonald's, 6. Whataburger). The other thing, this is a Texas exclusive and they didnt serve Red Rock! They had Dr. Pepper, so I guess I shouldn't be too mad.

Came here for the high review while traveling. NOPE, the burger is just as Mcdonald’s grade (or worse) but a Chick-fil-a price. I don’t know how the high rated review come from.

If you have a toddler you know they can be picky so a burger no mustard is understandable. This does not mean flood the burger with ketchup! First burger was returned because the amount of ketchup would have a very messy and unhappy kid. Replacement burger....just a crazy with the ketchup. My husband's shake was made sloppily as well flowing out of cup and when he asked for napkins to clean it he was given 1. ..then another 1 when asked again and finally 2 to clean up the shakes. Additional burgers were so thin they had holes in the meat. There were long lines for the single accommodation restrooms too. Just terrible!

Well it does not live up to the name. Service was just bad. The cashier only asked us what we wanted and what sauces, after that she just walked away and left us standing unsure of what to do. So I grabbed the receipt, and stepped aside. The burger was smaller than the oversized bun, all of the toppings were piled in the middle. I had a bacon burger and took 5 bites before finding the bacon. The fries were not hot, more cold. Overall if you are desperate eat here if not there are a lot more good restaurants in the area.

We visited late (around 11:45pm) on a Friday night. Not being local, we were a it taken aback that we had to wait in line outside before we could go in to order. We discovered why, and it made sense, but it was just a bit off-setting at first. The staff seemed to be simply going through the motions, and the food simply is not what Whataburger was before the sell-out in 2020.

I work very close in a large hotel. None of us visit this location because they simply can not take our orders and serve our food in a timely manner. We only get half an hour for lunch. We can't afford for you to have one cashier and one runner, both with no sense of urgency. If downtown is going to be busy it is wise to staff appropriately. I am no longer going to chance it because too many times i have had to return to work with nothing in my stomach. Also the windows and doors are regularly disgusting.

We stopped by Whataburger on the way back to the hotel after a conference. I ordered the #11 grilled chicken sandwich. I’m not sure I got that, as it was nothing like the picture. It didn’t have a brioche bun and was poorly put together. The fries were okay, about average for fast food. The only saving grace is that my honey loved the banana pudding shake. The little guy who delivers orders was horrible. Not friendly at all, gave an attitude when I mentioned we didn’t have the shake, and never returned like he said he would. With. McDonald’s essentially across the street, you’d think Whataburger would do better.

Not recommended at all. This was the first and definitely the last time I try Whataburger’s burgers. The experience was disappointing from the start. The place was extremely dirty, making it uncomfortable to even sit and wait for the food. On top of that, the staff had terrible attitudes and seemed uninterested in providing good service. When the burgers finally arrived—after an unreasonably long wait—they were cold, dry, and completely lacking in flavor. It felt like no effort was put into making them enjoyable. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Poor service, bad food, and an unpleasant atmosphere make it a place I won’t be visiting again.

Long wait time for Curbside when the restaurant isn’t busy and when I got home my large fries I paid extra for were this full. If you’re going to charge 3.39 for fries make sure its full.

This place was not worth our time, money or effort in getting here. We heard so much about this place that we had to check it out, however, we were so disappointed. We ordered what they were famous for and it was whack! McDonald's would have been better.... Sorry.

The staff girls taking orders at the front counter are very rude! Quick to take your money but cant even smile or thank their guest for coming in. The burger I ordered also came with onions that were the size of rocks, cut very large, couldn't even enjoy the taste of my burger. Will not come here and spend money again!

No idea what is this workers problem but she must hate everyone. Took my order to the back when it was clearly ready idk what she did to it but the food seemed funky. I had to asked the nice gentleman at the register for my order and he went to the back and grabbed it very quickly. The workers who has an issue is sherly with red hair. It's very disgusting how she treats people and im not about it.

Went 9/5/21 around 08:45 for some breakfast. I ordered the #25 with sausage and jalapeño cheddar biscuit. I ordered to go and the order was given to me as a dine in. I asked the worker to make it to go and 5 minutes later I get my food, all I needed was a bag. I get to work to now feed myself before my day starts and what do I see? The hardest biscuit in America. You could drive nails with this dang thing. Whataburger, you really have fallen far. Sad days we live in.

This is disgusting and so disappointing Downtown is full of homeless so they obviously go in and use the restroom but shouldn’t someone be cleaning or checking Restrooms every hour. My husband went to whataburger to eat and saw the restrooms like this and walked out

Their bathroom cop is unnecessarily strict. You can't even use the restroom while you're friend is ordering food for you. I watch them kick out of group of young women. You'll recognize him as the tiny man with a huge ego. What a fulfilling job a bathroom cop must be.

Probably the worst whataburger restaurant. Homeless begging outside (and let in by overly generous guests, stinking up the place). Always understaffed. Unfortunately they messed up my order twice. First was last night and I called about it and complained. There was no manager for the night shift so when I went in person this morning I talked with a manager. Instead of doing a refund they made me order another meal and it was comped but the meal was wrong again. I didn't want to complain again so I gave it to a homeless person waiting outside. Order item wrong first time: Grilled chicken Cobb but has no grilled chicken (see picture) Order item wrong second time: Breakfast burger with sausage when I requested no pork or any meat. I also was given a lot of attitude for bringing it to their attention. They seemed stressed out and annoyed, possibly because of lack of support from upper management. Just my 2 cents.

Came on my lunch to grab a bite to eat, and when I got my food, it was nowhere near hot or fresh. I noticed that they had these new prickly pear raspberry refreshers, and I asked to have a little sample because I would rather not buy something that I’m not going to enjoy and I was told by the manager no. very disappointing because I would’ve definitely purchased it if I knew what it tasted like. Hope they do better in the future.

Food is mid but the late night mall cops that guard the front entrance are straight dungeon level. Avoid this chain like the plague and solicit the many wonderful local establishments in the downtown/River Walk area.

Absolutely atrocious service. Wait times were well over 45 minutes. Staff were rude to customers. Many were trying to cancel orders, some were denied. Inside was extremely dirty for a fast food restaurant. Food was nowhere close to worth the wait

The only person nice, was the cashier Ariel, VEry Kind and sweet. The restaurant was very dirty. Floor was sticky, soda spill ignored by staff. My little order took 25 minutes. When they brought it out, they failed to pack it to go. I asked for it to go, I was given a sigh , like it was hard work. I had already waited 25 minutes for a tiny, simple meal. When she gave me the bag, she asked if I needed ketchup when I asked for ranch, she completely ROLLED her eyes at me!!! Really?!! I said to her, “I’ve waited 25 minutes, the least you could do is give me a ranch, she RELUCTANTLY came back with one and gave more attitude. I have avoided this place, I work downtown, I used to come twice a week. I decided to give it another try. This is what I got. Also, my receipt was so faded, I couldn’t scan the code for survey and the rewards I look forward to getting. My fries were cold and I did not enjoy the attitude or the meal. I’m embarrassed and disgusted with the staff and this place. Do better Sophia Parrish. Do better. My little burger was awesome, that’s abt it, tho.

Cashier Bridget was sweet and nice. But my food was wrong twice. She got me fresh fries but my fish was hard and inedible and the bacon was put together pieces. I'm not local so I had to pay for parking while I waited for my food despite placing an online order in advance, 13 minutes cost me $25. In total over $40 spent. Ridiculous!!!!!

We are currently in San Antonio Tx for a cheer competition we drove in late so we door dashed food from whataburger at this location. My husband ordered a #12 which is a crispy chicken sandwich. He started to notice a slimy texture so he checked it and the middle was completely RAW! It was extremely disappointing and scary that he might have taken bites that were raw! Be sure to check your orders before consuming!

5-6am crew is hit and miss. This was my fourth and last time here every time I order it's always a single item no combo and it always takes way too long which I don't mind but the lack of customer service and interaction allows some orders to slip through cracks. today I sat and waited patiently long again but when I saw a customer who ordered much after me get their combo big bag meal before my single taquito I left because I couldn't wait any longer my bus was coming I had waited long enough. Ordered 5:50 6:15 still didn't get it and even when I do get the food it's all sloppy made could barely grab it. Just a lil tad hint of customer service is needed but nope.

Ok. We went for lunch. It was hot and we walked for it around downtown San Antonio. I heard about Whatsburger but was not sure. I know now that they can try harder. Soggy bread,huge tasteless patties. I will take a hard pass. Good Luck.
